Saint Jacques is a lovely restaurant. Staff were helpful and welcoming. It is not a tourist restaurant. I had two appetizers (grilled scallops and mushroom soup) that were excellent and plentiful for a dinner. The Crepes Suzette was fabulous! The noise level is low which allowed for us to have a quiet conversation.

Six of us had dinner in the restaurant. The staff were very nice and the service was very good. The food was also delicious. But the prices are very high, I would say overpriced. The wine prices in particular are astronomically high. This is probably because the restaurant is in the St James's area.

We had such a lovely lunch here. Very friendly service, relaxed and not stuffy. The French owner was charming. The food was delicious with extremely generous portions. The bread was outstanding and they were very happy to bring extra. The oysters were the highlight- so fresh and simple. We sat in the courtyard in the sunshine and couldn’t ask for more. They offer fixed prices or a la carte. 100 percent recommended.

Very quiet on the night we visited, which may have affected the atmosphere. I thought the meal very over-priced in general. £24.50 for 3 scallops as a starter is a bit much. Only £14.95 at the Ivy and better quality. The veal kidneys for mains were ok, but not that great. Service charge also high at 15%, whereas J Sheekey and the Ivy are both 13.5%. It does, however, offer a good Cremant sparkling wine. I wouldn't go again - it is too over-priced for the quality.

I happened upon this restaurant as my husband is a big fan of rognons de veau and Google informed me they were on the menu here. How lucky we are to have found this place. The menu is enticing - everything sounds so appetising, all the food we had was wonderful and the wine was good and reasonably priced. The service was excellent. We have found our new favourite restaurant in London. What a shame we live so far away. We will definitely be back.

It seems a bit cliquey. I went in the back of a great media review. The steak tartare was excellent. Chips were average. I would have preferred fries with it. The tarte tropizienne was over baked. Not particularly comfortable in there. A bit airless and my bench seat could have done with a supporting cushion . Tremendous wine list. The sort of place where it benefits you to be a regular. Which I am not.

The French restaurant is centrally located in London near Piccadilly Circus. The menu is manageable but everyone will find something here. An exquisite wine list that impresses connoisseurs, but is priced on the top shelf. The ambience doesn't match the price, more can be expected here. The service was surprisingly weak. The glasses remained empty for a long time, even if the wine bottles we paid for were still in the cooler. The outdoor area is very dependent on the weather and the wind is extremely strong.

My 85 year old Aunt who had a mastectomy 4 weeks ago took me here for lunch on Thursday. The restaurant was mostly empty and smelt of disinfectant. We had rabbit and snails to start and the. waited an age for our unfinished plates to be cleared The surly female manager asked us why we didn’t finish our meal and we told her it was not good. She left in a strop and came back one minute later and asked us to leave. Her explanation was that we had complained and there were more important things in life. Quelle dommage.

Our 2nd visit at lunchtime and taking advantage of the very good Set Menu here. The food is top quality and well presented, although not wildly generous. Lovely light spacious dining room looking out onto pretty courtyard and attracting a mostly business crowd. Please never never go to this place. They truly don’t care about their customers. I received an email advertising a wine dinner at their venue, so phoned a week before and booked a table for four of us at 7.30pm. When we arrived bang on time at 7.30pm I was informed that the dinner started at 6.30pm (although we were never told this) and we should hurry downstairs, where we were told to sit at 5 different tables as singles, although we were 4 in our party, and we’d already missed the first course of the dinner. The main problem was not that they had made a mistake with the booking or failed to tell us at any point that the dinner started earlier, but that they just didn’t care or in anyway try to rectify the situation. We literally didn’t matter to them, or that they had made the error. I’m a keen foodie and go out to eat regularly, and London is lucky to be blessed with some fine French restaurants like Bouchon Racine and Noize, to name two, so please please whatever you do go anywhere other than this incredibly indifferent and rude establishment.

The owner who was ‘giving it large’ with 3 friends was incredibly rude to us - we had been here 5 or 6 times before and it was always a quite acceptable lunch. We had been to the soft opening when it was reincarnated from the old and superb Boulestin in Covent Garden using the same name. It never cut the mustard and sadly this further incarnation as St Jacques is a very pale imitation. The food was mediocre and the service was obsequious but the rudeness from the ‘hale fellow well met’ owner was unforgivable.

Good menu and nicely cooked and presented food. The souffle of emmental was excellent - I think I've had this there before. The service was also excellent. But the environment was a bit noisier than I remember - there was a rather noisy group at a table not far away, but looking around I see lots of flat plastered surfaces which easily reflect sound. it would improve the ambience a bit if they could work out how to add a bit of sound-deadening. I look forward to visiting in the summer months when one can sit outside in their courtyard.

Horrendous service. Seems quite provocative on Chinese ppl. My colleague who’s also a Chinese guy got told off by them once and asked me not to go there, and now I’m regretting for not listening to him. Got this waiter with beard and glasses yelling at me saying their restaurant is not McDonald’s and it takes time to cook my main course (steak tartare)… and blamed me for not telling him I’m in a rush. Yea ofc it takes 35 min to “cook” a steak tartare and it’s ofc the customer’s fault. The manager removed the course from our bill but refused to get the rude waiter over to apologize for the attitude. If you are having a business lunch or if you are not white, please be cautious before you go to this restaurant.

He said heres your table you can stay if you want. He also added he had problems with staff. (who would tell customers this) . This morning we got the voice-mail and then a text saying that due to a event they have to cancel our booking. Most probably they have an offer to close the place down for the night and instead of thinking about long term consequences they preferred to cancel all the regular booking. Good luck with that,

Simply the best!... as a famous singer once shouted. I've had lunch in this beautiful restaurant four times over the last 6 months and every time it has been superb, not only in the quality of food, but the wonderful service too; to say nothing of the calming ambience and comfortable and spacious seating (unfortunately, a rarity in restaurants these days) Set lunch unbelievably good value in such salubrious surroundings; but yesterday my 85-year-old dad (I'm his 61 year-old young lad) treated to me to a la carte, and even that was very reasonably priced, according to him. The service, including from the hard-working owner Richard, is the perfect combination of being relaxed, friendly and accommodating, but also highly professional. I wonder how many other posh restaurants in Mayfair or anywhere else in central London, for that matter, has an owner working as head waiter, taking your orders and even hanging up your coat. That's almost certainly why this place is so good Clientele very well -heeled... not like wot I am But no one will be made to feel out of place here. Best restaurant in town, honestly

Seated safely in a corner table, that provided seating better than the seated across two tops, the two of use enjoyed a French gastronomy experience. The green salad was dressed to perfection, les escargots were succulent, the baked Celeriac was an unusual and pleasant dish,...

Worst of all was service. No welcoming in or out, waiters talking amongst themselves ignoring customers. Eg we had to ask for a drink while waiting for our friends stuck in traffic Basic mistakes from inexperienced staff with no management in sight eg serving hot...

Unexpected little gem in the heart of St James. I went to Saint Jacques for a quick business lunch and didn’t expect so much dedication and attentiveness from the staff. I highly recommend this place to whoever wants to experience a perfectly executed french food...

We visited Saint Jacques with friends for the first time after reading a review by William Sitwell. We trust his comments and it must be said - he was spot on. Rarely have we eaten a meal which at all levels was faultless - surroundings,...

Excellent food and amazingly kind staff. It started pouring rain as we were finishing our meal, and as the restaurant owner noticed we were struggling to find a taxi/Uber so we didn’t have to walk home on the rain, he gave us his own umbrella to take home. Wonderful experience and we will be back. Xx

This hidden gem is on the main road, but also tucked away in an old courtyard, making the setting quite unique. The inside resembled a conservatory, bright and cheerful with starched white tablecloths and napkins. The welcome was warm, and the guy who served at...

Poor before we had even eaten. Taking my Mum to enjoy Beef Wellington, her favourite dish, I phoned ahead a few times to ensure one was available. Just before I arrived at the restaurant, they confirmed it was available. We sat down in an empty restaurant, rather inefficient staff. We were told there was no Beef Wellington, so I pointed out that one was put by. Then we were told they could make one, and it would take 40 mins, to which we said would that be 40 minutes or could it be longer ? On visiting the toilet I heard the chef say ‘if they wanted one, it might take 45 minutes’. Nobody wants to be considered a nuisance in a restaurant, so we decided to take our custom elsewhere. Having travelled all the way from Hampstead to enjoy Beef Wellington, my Mum’s favourite dish, we left & ate elsewhere. Sadly not beef Wellington.

While other Cocotte locations are usually quite good, this particular establishment lacks on the vision: the food was bland, our chicken tasted and looked like yesterday’s reheated batch, the chicken soup, while hearty, definitely had the taste of Maggi cubes, the air conditioning condensation was dripping on the plates on some of the tables, personnel was mopping the floor on a near-permanent basis and the entire restaurant had a feel of a run-down fastfood, absolutely not managed nor maintained up to Cocotte’s standards. Sadly, we ended up back home with a bout of explosive diarrhea! A costly affair, with our terribly disappointing late lunch costing over £90.-

We were referred to the restaurant by our hotel receptionist and we weren’t disappointed. A small but charming place with delicious food.
