I am not sure about the claims that this is healthy cuisine... our dishes were very salty and below the standard you would get from a average chinese takeaway.
I’ve been to Ripe a few times and always liked their food. I also appreciated that they weren’t as overpriced as other places—but after this weekend, I’m not so sure.
Last Sunday, my son and I came and I ordered a gluten-free tuna melt for £8 and got a large box with four pieces. This Sunday, they charged me £9.50, gave me a much smaller box with only two pieces, and when I questioned it, they were dismissive and rude—insisting I must be mistaken and trying to make it seem like I was lying.
I understand prices can change, but shrinking portions and poor customer service are a bad combination. A real shame, as I used to enjoy coming here and I was planning to come every Sunday since it was a perfect solution between my son’s weekend classes. I will look for another option.
¿Por qué cerraste? ¿Por qué? Uno de los lugares decentes donde comí la mejor paella de Londres (hecho para un chef de Bangladesh! )
Deseo tener mucho dinero para mantener el lugar.
Tried the place once out of curiosity and it quickly became one of my favourite places to eat in London. Staff is super friendly, atmosphere is nice and food is incredibly delicious
We loved eating at this place. It was a random choice but when we came (mom+ baby + young child), we were warmly welcomed by Bella. She is fantastic and could give attention for my 6-year-old which made the whole experience better. Great good, fantastic service. It was the best way to finish the long day at the zoo. Recommend this place, especially for families. The menu is great!
Excellent food here. If I say this up front, I know that I won’t forget to say it!
Ask any ethnic foodie, and they will tell you that when they go out to eat food from their own ethnic heritage, the key thing they ask is whether the food they eat is better than they cook at home, whether it is tastier than Mum’s Sunday best, whether they can get the full restaurant experience.
Roger’s kitchen ticks all of the boxes.
Throughout the menu, there are modern twists and manifestations of traditional West Indian favourites. This should keep Caribbean heritage people happy!
But the menu is targeted at food lovers from every ethnic group.
Indeed, the seafood soup itself would have graced ‘The Ivy’.
The starters are varied. The mains, fish, chicken, meat, flavoursome, perfectly cooked and excellently presented.
The service is attentive.
Roger’s kitchen is actually quite new, being on the site of a previous Caribbean restaurant, the Mango Room, but also now appears popular in its own right.
We came to eat here as a family, we have been back with friends. And we will definitely be back again. Great food, great value.
There is not an independent Caribbean restaurant in London that we would rather eat at.
Roger’s Kitchen offers excellent modern Caribbean cuisine for the West Indian, British and International foodie.
If you are travelling to London for a week, put Roger’s Kitchen on your “must eat here” list.
5 Stars.
Unit 726, Chalk Farm Rd, Chalk Farm, London NW1 8AH, United Kingdom, England
Italian restaurant at Candem Market. Alternative if you don't want to be at the typical stalls...more typical restaurant style. Good service, nice people.
Overall comments:
Had high expectations and was let down quite a bit. A few factors that contributed to that was buffalo sauce and no bathroom in a restaurant. Personally, I wouldn’t go here again but can see why Americans who are in the UK would.
My order was as follows:
Starter(s): 4 Buffalo Wings,
Main(s): Buffalo Chik'N Burger,
Side(s): Fries,
Dessert(s): Rainbow Milkshake.
Food:
Food was not bad, not great, though once again it goes to show buffalo sauce is just a bad sauce and unsure why it is so widely adopted. Milkshake was different but didn’t have the sweets in it as it became a bit too much with the buffalo sauce with the food.
Atmosphere:
Overall the interior design was meh. Decent amount of space and seating wasn’t too comfy. If we got lucky with the sofa ones it may have been better. Music wasn’t too loud which was good. No Bathroom in Camden restaurants and having to pay for a shared one is a big downer.
Service:
Service was standard and the speed arrived at the table at a good speed.
Cost:
Mid-range and not worth it
Arrived prior to concert at the Roundhouse to find it shut. Roller shutters down, no lights on.
Booking confirmed by email
Luckily got into Nando’s
Shocking to take bookings and not be open, or at least email us to say issue :-(
