Rudy's Vegan Diner in Camden - Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews

Overall comments: Had high expectations and was let down quite a bit. A few factors that contributed to that was buffalo sauce and no bathroom in a restaurant. Personally, I wouldn’t go here again but can see why Americans who are in the UK would. My order was as follows: Starter(s): 4 Buffalo Wings, Main(s): Buffalo Chik'N Burger, Side(s): Fries, Dessert(s): Rainbow Milkshake. Food: Food was not bad, not great, though once again it goes to show buffalo sauce is just a bad sauce and unsure why it is so widely adopted. Milkshake was different but didn’t have the sweets in it as it became a bit too much with the buffalo sauce with the food. Atmosphere: Overall the interior design was meh. Decent amount of space and seating wasn’t too comfy. If we got lucky with the sofa ones it may have been better. Music wasn’t too loud which was good. No Bathroom in Camden restaurants and having to pay for a shared one is a big downer. Service: Service was standard and the speed arrived at the table at a good speed. Cost: Mid-range and not worth it

My newly engaged Fiancé and I had been looking forward to this on the last day of our holiday. Their information clearly states that they open at 12. We arrived at 12:05 and they were not open, staff were inside looking at their phones and ignoring us standing outside in the rain. Eventually after seriously knocking on the door one of the staff very grumpily came to the door and told us they would open at 12:30. So we waited, when they opened the door, the staff looked suicidal. No smile. No greeting. No apology or even a wave when we started walking away. I have no doubt that the product is fantastic but when you have staff like this who clearly do not care for giving service it becomes very unappealing and offputting. I highly doubt we will ever return which is a shame.

Had this on my wish list to visit as needed a change from our "other" go to burger place - Temp of Cam...... Arrived, no welcome by the server. Just asked if we wanted takeaway or sit down. Said we wanted sit down. Sat at table and were told that they did not have mac+cheese, halloumi sticks, all day breakfast and no milkshakes. OK, not what we had planned anyway. Waited for 10-15 minutes before anyone bothered to come over. Ordered 2 Plain Jane burgers, destructer burger, rubenze sandwich and 2 loaded fries, along with drinks. Food arrived after about 10-15 minutes, all nice however were given 2 normal fries rather than the loaded fries (which are double the price). I enquired and she said we don't have chillies. I said OK I'll just stick to the normal fries then. Enjoyed the food and then no servers available to pay, they were outside. Came in and then took my payment. Told server to make my burgers meal deals as I never got the loaded fries. She said ok....but looking at the bill they were going to charge me for what I never got anyway! Decided not to leave a tip and then I got no thank you, no good bye, nothing. By the way we were told that there was no milkshakes but whilst we were eating the server had made herself a milkshake and was having that at the counter. Other diners came and sat and then left when they never got served....probably got pissed off. Seems like the staff don't really want to be there. Walked back to car and between our family we decided it was a 8 out of 10 but would not come back because the service was soooo crap.

The service was weird. I don't know how to describe it but no one who was working there seemed to want to work there. Ordered with the chef behind the counter since there wasn't anyone else to ask for help. Food came out, could have walked out without paying and they wouldn't have noticed even though it was empty. My friend wanted to order but didn't because she couldn't get the guys attention lol Got Buffalo wings and cheesy fries. The fries were 10/10, really tasty and lovely. The wings were flavourless triangular sponges doused in a not good sauce, 2/10. So it seems like if you get "the right thing" off the menu it will be really nice.

Tried to visit on a Friday evening, the restaurant was half full but when we walked in someone shouted they were closed. No apology, no explanation and no social media heads up. The total lack of courtesy means we be rushing back again.

This place has gone so far down hill since it was taken over. This is the first time we’ve tried it since it changed hands and can say that we wouldn’t return. Food was so greasy and salty that I felt ill for hours afterwards. I appreciate that it’s junk food but the quality that used to be there is just gone.

I had a Double or Nothing burger, Rudys fries and a smoothie, my friend had Buffalo Chicken, Rudys fries and a smoothie. The food tasted amazing. The service could have been better - an item was brought to the table which we didn't order and the drinks were slow being delivered to us. I deducted a star because when I came to pay a service charge had already been added to the bill. This was not advertised on the menu. I strongly feel that I should have the choice to leave a tip - NOT for a service charge to be added without my prior knowledge.

Stopped in here tonight with the husband as he's been before, what can I say...freaking awesome. Ordered the Ruben sandwich as a meal, came with cheesy fries 5 dips and a soft drink. I was not disappointed nor left hungry. Will definitely come back here again!!!

Unbelievably slow and rude service. No one greeted us on entry so we asked whether we could sit, to which we received a very rude reply. We then waited for 40 minutes before a waiter even so much as acknowledged us (we hadn't even been given a menu). Honestly we would have left but it was a very hot and busy day in Camden and we had been struggling to find a place to sit anywhere else. We never complained and were never rude to the staff, but received no apology and the staff continued to be rude to us. I would understand if the place was busy, but it was not - more than half the tables were empty and some of the staff seemed to just be standing around doing nothing (especially the boy behind the bar who was rude to us). After ordering, there was another long wait for the food, and then when it arrived they had forgotten several parts of our order. The food was nice; I especially liked the chips and the green sauce we got with them (I think it was called spice rub mayo but that may have been something else). The menu promised my burger would be golden battered, it was not (although it was still nice).

Went to Rudys Islington on a Friday afternoon, and we’re greeted straight at the door by super friendly, chatty staff. I can’t emphasise enough - sadly I didn’t catch any names but it was a few young girls (one out of uniform - manager/supervisor maybe?) and they were all so friendly, so chatty and honestly a delight to be served by. It felt like they were really pleased and excited to have us there! Even watching them all laughing and joking with each other while they were working set a lovely atmosphere. Food was incredible - buffalo burger had a real spicy kick to it, and my boyfriend’s Rueben sandwich was also incredible. But the shakes!! They were decorated to the nines and looked GORGEOUS, and tasted unreal to. NO difference from a dairy based shake. Will 100% be back.

What a surprise, we sat down ad hoc really thinking oooh vegan. We are veggies tbh. OMG.. the seitan steak with mushers is to die for as is the fries with brisket… This one meal has made us question the move to vegan is m like nothing before…

Firstly, no front of house service was available, so we had to take it upon ourselves to seat ourselves, talk about poor customer service already. Once seated, it took ages for any waitress to bring over any menus we actually had to ask in the end and then wait a further while for them to be delivered to our table, which was disgusting it was not clean at all, stains, dirty cutlery and already used tissues laid on the table which was awful. Then finally when we had our menus we had to wait another lengthy period of time to be asked what we would like to order, to which when we had to ask to order, the waitress was really rude and brushed us off like we were dirty on the bottom of her shoe. Finally she took our order after getting it wrong three times already, then when our drinks finally arrived the glasses they were in where dirty and clearly hadn't been washed properly which was poor. Having to wait nearly an hour for our food because it was sitting on the counter for ages, we were tempted to serve ourselves at this point in time because we were already disappointed. When out food finally came it was cold and as far as food goes, it was just about edible and nothing to write home about at all, just standard vegan food which was heartbreaking to see a restaurant like Rudy's serve food like this. Halfway through eating what we could, found a hair in my food which just put me off from eating the rest to be honest. Then when it came to pay my boyfriend got overcharged which we didn't realise until wanting to quite frankly just get out of there at this point otherwise we would have said something, however we are people who don't want to cause a scene so we just wanted to leave at this point. Disgusting, disappointing and will never EVER be coming back again. Don't eat at Rudy's Islington because you will leave with a bad taste in your mouth. Don't know about the Camden branch, but if this one is anything to go by, then don't bother going to either.

Terrible customer service, Islington Rudy's vegan diner couldn't honour a booking made 5 days in advance, it does not get any worse than that, added to that the numerous emails and text reminders you get in those five days adds to the joke. The waitress tried to use every excuse, "you sure you didn't book at the Camden one"? No, I live 10 ten minutes away my children go to Canonbury school. "Did you book through our web site"? yes, I did, We don't use that booking method anymore. Then finally the waitress admits they overbook and she will get the manager. The manager comes over and says the same thing over again. So there you have it Rudy's treat the customers like animals rather than serve animals. Then after wasting my time going there, they cancel my booking after I've been there, I find that very insulting.

Restaurant was half full at best - 4 staff visible. We waited ten minutes to be seated, then seated ourselves. Waited 20 mins for menus. Went and got them ourselves. When we finally asked if someone could take our order the wait staff attitude was bizarre - 'who gave you these menus?'. No' sorry for your wait' Didn't get the drinks we ordered or any cutlery. Food was made quite quickly but then sat on counter for over ten minutes with customers leaning over it as a pigeon flew around the restaurant. Finally kitchen staff brought as we were about to leave. Order was wrong and nearly cold. Still no drinks or cutlery. Got our own cutlery asked kitchen staff for drinks. Food was average which is a shame because we had two young children with us who were really looking forward to it. So many good options these days, so I resent paying money for poor food/service. I emailed the restaurant a week ago to give them chance to respond but they didn't even reply so here's my honest review. I don't like to poorly review a vegan business but I couldn't recommend this place to anyone.
