This is the second incarnation of this space I have dined in - the previous was called the Gilbert Scott.
This time the venue seems calmer and quieter - a rare thing for London restaurants these days. Soft furnishing and comfy deep seating - we stayed to chat after our coffee was long gone.
But I found the menu a bit of a challenge - probably down to me but nothing really shone out so I end up with a starter and a further starter for main. It seemed to all work ok.
So all in all a pleasant place with a little work needed on the menu.
Staff seemed busy and a bit distracted.
We visited the location at 55 Neal street for a late Sun day night dinner. This was our first time in London, and at the end of a very busy weekend, the restaurant was out of stock of a few items. Tired as they must have been, the staff were friendly, efficient and made us feel very welcome as their last customers that night. We tried a " burger " ( the meat is cooked in the French Bbeef Bourgeon style, and is more the consistency of pulled pork... it is delicious !) with cheddar, cabbage & mushrooms, and also one with Raclette, onion jam and slaw . the meat was moist, tender, and tasty. This little shop is just around the corner from the 7 Dials Hotel, and will provide you with a delcious, budget dinner !
Outstanding service and food.
We went to L’oscar restaurant for my birthday, we received a complimentary portion of prawns, some sourdough bread and butter and smoked salmon as starters, from the chef and they were all delicious and fresh. For main we had steak to share for 2 which was stunning. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding which was not my favourite.
Very nice place with friendly and professional staff.
I’ve been visiting this cafe since the late nineties. It was great value for money. Generous portions and made vegetarian food delicious at a time veggie options were bland in shops and canteens. It’s so popular you have to share tables. The queue to order is long and slow moving. It’s a hidden gem. I’ve seen online they’ve cut back on hot meal options. Undoubtedly they were hit by the pandemic and following cost of living crisis. Looking forward to dropping by later.
Used to be much nicer.
New management stand around outside smoking, everyone outside smoking at tables
Horrible now and I never go there anymore.
Used to be a great place for a fry up etc.
Friends say the same thing.
Sad
Had been planning on visiting Rondo for a few months and finally did. Love the vibe when we entered the Hoxton and had a drink before being shown to our table. Tables closer to the lovvy were a bit louder, but we were shown to a table further back where we enjoyed the music and could converse easily. Margaux was our waitress and she was sharp. We ordered our drinks and my wife also asked for ice in a glass. After Margaux left, my wife said she would forget the ice. 2 minutes later a glass of ice arrived at our table. She helped us with the menu and looked after us all night long. I had the whole sea bream and my wife had the cod, both of which were excellent, accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables and the best crispy roasted potatoes in skin that I have ever had. Wine list was very good also. Great experience and will be back again.

I’ve bought a number of Too a good to Go bags from various Fabrique outlets and sometimes the contents are good and other times not so good. This one was truly terrible- so terrible that most of it got thrown in the bin when I got home. Basically two separate halves of a Mr Bread loaf. I’ve never had such a lack of variety and won’t be using this store again
