Amazing little spot to cool off this beautiful May Sunny rare weather. The oitdoor seats are just fantastic to enjoy your Gelato without it being metled.
I've always liked black cat and I love what the new owners have done with the place. I will say that some of the food is nice but not as good as it used to be, for example the breakfast scrambled tofu is a little bit too mustardy. It would be cool if we could have some of the previous classics too, is it possible to purchase the recipes from the previous owners?
The service and atmosphere is excellent though, wouldn't mind seeing it keep its political 'edge' too tho. Defo gonna keep coming but wanted to add some notes. This is a really nice cafe to sit at for a while and enjoy some food and drink.
We came here for the garden, though there is also a cafe at the entrance and a nice cafe with table service in the main house. FAR better value and better quality than National Trust places such as Sissinghurst.
The gardens are spectacular. Very large. Very neat and totally immaculate. Surrounded by spectacular Kent countryside as far as the eye can see. The Yew hedges are stunning. The walled garden is superb. The topiary is superb too. My wife is extremely keen on gardens and this is easily the most memorable one I have been to anywhere in the South East apart from it's equal Great Dixter. Both beat Sissinghurst (which is the tourist destination and frozen in time) hands down. They also don't have keep out signs everywhere - so you can go in the greenhouses and fully experience the place. In June the Delphinium display (national collection I believe) is fantastic.
Godinton is superb value. Highly recommended and great credit to the head gardener Viv Hunt.
Late weekday family lunch after shopping on Ealing Road. Found this hidden gem for freshly made no fuss authentic Gujarati fayre. We ordered snacks (crispy bhajai, methi bhajai, puram puri, bhel followed by shrikhand puri). All were made to order and so had to wait a short while as restaurant had got busy with lots of people collecting takeaways as well. All our order was very tasty and piping hot. We could taste the freshness even particularly in the chutneys. The skrikhand puri ended our meal perfectly. Great customer service throughout. They were so attentive and accommodating. Will return soon.
Really quaint, comfortable and fun place with a great selection of wine and a decent menu. Felt like a local there as the staff was friendly and welcoming. Went on a slow Tuesday night and enjoyed the place very much. Had steak frites, great fries and a decent steak ( a bit thin and slightly under cooked…)
All in all I liked it and will return!
Todo sobre las galletas de Ben me hace enojar, los precios, los empleados, no tener más chocolate que galleta, y en general la experiencia allí es horrible para una galleta. Si quieres una galleta de buen sabor hazla tú mismo

A small, but enjoyable farm in Surrey Docks.
Goats, Sheep, Pigs, Chicken, Cows and Ducks and I cannot remember if there more.
They have a small library and cafe section attached. Really close to river Thames.
A solid 3 stars, would probably give it a half a star more.
Free entry and paid parking outside. Overall, it’s a 3 hours day out, on a warm day with your child(ren).
