Very debonair, great traditional french food and yes, they serve Beaujolais wines too!

Went here for the first time after Gordon’s wine bar was a) too busy, only standing available b) too expensive for us (£10 for one option of cheese) We arrived at 7pm and ended up staying until close because the food and ambience was excellent. The place feels like it has real character and the choice and level of music is ideal to have conversation whilst having ambience in the background. Although it was busy, the staff accommodated us and we waited less than 10minutes to be seated. You sit anywhere where there is space. We had the steak frites, cheese plate that had 4 types of cheeses and charcuterie which were excellent. I believe they have 25 different types of cheese you can choose from. My friend had the house wine which she was very pleased with. The staff are genuine and attentive without trying to be overly polite.Fast service with attention to quality and care. There is only one toilet for the women and one for the men which are very small however it is a small venue ( the only small feedback).

Love this place. Absolutely the best place to go for the best wine and cheese in London.

OK wine, nothing special. Terrible service- they decided to change server without telling us, or passing on the order a couple of our group had already given to the first server. Shrugged when we complained. Very arrogant. Won't hurry back

Stumbled across this quaint French Wine Bar, lovely styled interior, lots of Nik naks to see, very friendly and helpful staff. Didn't eat on this occasion but will be back.

El motivo de la visita era degustar quesos y en un restaurante francés, como norma lo encuentras. En la barra encontramos sitio y pedimos dos vinos y la tabla de 4 quesos. Los vinos, dos diferentes franceses muy normales servidos en copas muy normales. Las porciones de los quesos raquíticas. Y encima en barra te añaden la propina¿?.

A restaurant that claims to be French. Exorbitant prices for average food and drinks. I came a second time and again the staff was not courteous.

Le Beaujolais is an absolute delight. Quality french wine with simple authentic small plates to go with it. Excellent atmosphere and service. My favourite French place outside of France!

Very unfriendly. We asked for another rillettes but the kitchen was closed. I don't think you need to be able to cook to give Rillettes. Not clean in French. And €5 for a small jar of nuts. In London everyone is friendly in the hospitality industry. But yes, they are French Chauvinists.

Found it by chance, while walking along the street. Full of character, absolutely unique, great wine selection. Had a glass and enjoyed the relaxing not-so-London atmosphere. Felt like a stop in a time capsule.

A hilariously stereotypical french service experience, but in London, for twice the price. I’ve never waited 20 minutes at the bar before to get a drink only to have the waiter suggest it was my own fault. Soho has so many decent bars, avoid this pretentious nonsense.

Really love it here, it's the best way to spend a Friday afternoon with some wine and then giving into a cheese plate. The staff are really interesting to talk to also.

Es un bar de vinos francés sin pretensiones de una época pasada (OK, probablemente los años 1980). Propietarios encantadores, personal amable, un entorno acogedor y excelente vino y comida. Quedan tan pocos de estos lugares auténticos en el centro de Londres en estos días. Odiamos pensar qué pasará cuando la pareja que dirige Le Beaujolais finalmente decida retirarse – probablemente será “reurbanizada” y esta parte de Londres será aún más pobre para ella. Así que ve mientras puedas y abraza esta joya gala de un lugar.

Quite possibly the best place I’ve ever been

We loved it here, highlight of our day out! We had 8 cheeses, which the staff picked for us taking into consideration what we like and dislike (loved that). I loved all 8! We had bread and butter with it which was refilled as soon as we finished it. The staff seemed really cool and chilled, they told us the story of the ties on the ceiling which was interesting! We will definitely be back soon for more cheese and wine, and maybe some mains next time which also looked delicious!

Sat at the bar to share a carafe of wine and a couple of small plates of food ahead of a reception. Delightful atmosphere, friendly service, delicious food and wine at a fair price. Very French, very genuine, clearly a neighborhood treasure.

This is an excellent bar for lunchtime. Brilliant friendly atmosphere, busy but not touristy at all so nice to be in a central London place which isn’t a chain. wine and charcuterie were excellent.

We ate very well, and the wine was very good. Nice selection. The setting is nice, small terrace outside. And a big thank you to this friendly team (special mention to Gérard). We will come back

Le Beaujolais was one of our favourite, centrally located, hidden gems. We'd go for the French wine, cheese, pate, rillettes and authentic, select French recipes, with a friendly service. No bookings here, just come along and wait for the next available table. You can share a table, too, so waiting times are not prohibitive. I love dining in France and Le Beaujolais was the closest thing you could find in Central London. However, the quality and overall value of the food has dropped noticeably, so my rating has dropped accordingly from 5 to 3 stars.

Is this the very last authentic tranche of old Soho, save for maybe the French House or Bardleys Bar? I think so. Remember a time when people remembered your name and greeted you? A time when you could walk into a bar or a restaurant and you would know some one in there? A local place, only slightly off the beaten track that was unknown to most but welcoming to all. Le Beaujolais is still like that, even after all these years, and with no awful refits! A serious place for lighthearted drinkers, foodies and good natured Bon viveurs, a Soho stalwart and legendary drinking hole that also serves very good food at competitive prices. A street level characterful wine bar that offers great food and drinks. A massive selection of wines and spirits, this is a drinkers paradise. A secret private members basement restaurant onsite also offers quality, French bitstro/brasserie favourites more than 150 wines and probably the best cheese selection in London, the service is always fabulous, friendly and generous. Its not fancy Micheline wannabe dots of bright green goo, or ridiculously adorned deserts... its much better than that, it feels like home.

Lovely French wine bar and bistro just south of the Palace theatre. Very traditional and eclectic all in one. Excellent food, very well priced for the area. Staff very friendly, just a shame the brunette young waitress never smiled once. Everyone else was lovely.

Cute French wine bar in the center of the West End. Although not an extensive wine list, it is fairly diverse and all well-priced. Eclectic decor with West End theatre posters and Napoleon on the walls and neck ties and beer mugs hanging from the ceiling. The food smelled good, although we only ordered wine. Great place to pass a little time before seeing a show!

A cute French wine bar (with food). Friendly staff. Fun, relaxed ambiance. Good French wine selection including by the glass and bottles. We didn’t eat but enjoyed relaxing with a bottle of wine! We would come back next time we are in the area. A good way to kill a couple hours between West End shows.

¿Qué decir sobre Le Beaujolais? Fantástico, Genial, Especial, Gema Oculta y más. Soy fan desde hace muchos años y ya no entro tanto retirado. Mis recuerdos eran cariñosos pero estar allí me recordaba lo mucho mejor que es. Básicamente un bar de vinos muy francés, propiedad y dirigido por franceses con personal francés principalmente encantador. El ambiente era relajado, la bienvenida cálida y amable y la selección de vinos amplia. Un gran lugar para relajarse y descansar o para reunirse para una charla. Precio razonable dada su posición central. Vale la pena visitarlo. Salut

A lovely slice of authenticity and heart in the heart of London. A true locals bar (expect a few tourists wondering through). The wine is decent and fairly priced - don't expect fancy wine glasses and swanky wine.

I found my ultimate spot in London; I think it is secretly a small piece of French territory! I actually want to keep this place for myself, but alas, I’m to vain. What a treat, good wine, charcuterie, pâté, cheese, and more; served by lovely people. Don’t expect anything fancy here; visit “Le Beaujolais” to relax and ingest the French way of life in the middle of London.

What an amazing find. I met Pascal behind the bar who had been here for 35 years. Swapped some travel stories, talked about the delta blues and learned he is unfortunately retiring soon. The food was great. The wine was good. Got to taste a couple before deciding which is always great when you are not familiar with them. Apparently this is a typical Parisian local bar and if so I am all in. I regret posting this if it's going to bring more people here but at the same time it was amazing and I need to give credit where credit is due.

Didn’t try the food but the sharing platter looked very decent. Slightly bonkers service but seem like a fun bunch and the atmosphere is great.

Normalmente me encanta este lugar, es una joya rara en Londres y se siente como un lugar en algún lugar de París. Sin embargo, cuando fui esta semana, me horrorizó lo grosero que actuó un miembro del personal - un calvo mayor - . Después de que ordené en el bar porque estaba muy ocupado, él fue a mi mesa y me insultó a mi amigo, diciendo que claramente no lo escuché diciendo que vendría a la mesa. Luego, detrás de la barra, me despotricó enormemente, llamándome palabrotas en francés (hablo francés, de lo que claramente no se dio cuenta). Luego nos ignoró a mí y a mi amigo durante el resto de la noche, incluso después de que mi amigo pidiera comprar otra clase de vino. Se espera al menos dignidad básica y respeto de otro ser humano y mucho menos de un miembro del personal. Tan decepcionado. No volveré aquí mientras este hombre trabaje aquí. Horriblemente grosero. Arruinó la noche.

A little part of France in central London with ghosts of friends from many decades past. Always worth a visit when passing.

Much needed drink stop w friends. We ordered a bottle of sparkling and had a good time. Got out and had no idea how sunny it still was!

I have been coming here for more or less twenty years. This time I came with my elder son, although I also visit with the wider family, with friends and with a group of professional colleagues. The welcome is always warm, and the quality of the food, wines and service has been and is consistently high Although there are many firm favourites on the menu, each day there are additional choices, and the terrines (made in the traditional way) have to be tasted to be believed. The same, of course, can be said of the famous cheese board (more accurately, a trolley). As customers must be members of the club, and their guests, the management is able to predict, pretty well, what they are likely to order, and this suits the traditional French way of buying ingredients, which is to shop for fresh, every day. The style of cuisine is not trendy or gimmicky, but is traditional, and is the more welcome for that: there are no unnecessary frills. The range and quality of wines is remarkable, with some excellent burgundies, sometimes available in magnum. The house wines (Côtes de Ventoux) are also very acceptable and fairly priced. Suitably qualified members may also behead bottles of champagne with a sabre briquet hanging on the wall for that purpose. Because the restaurant is a club, it does not publish its menu, although a somewhat different and limited menu is available in the wine bar, where tables may also be booked and which is open to all comers. I believe that those who are invited to visit the restaurant, in particular, should consider themselves fortunate, and will want to be asked back!

A truly authentic French experience. French staff, French food, French wine and it just feels like you’re in France. Great wine list paired with French bistro-style food. The rillettes de canard are 😍it’s called Le Beaujolais and then have all ten Beaujolais Cru, something I’ve never seen in England before. Oh, and the backing music was classic rock too. Great value, especially considering where it is and being surrounded by anonymous chain restaurants.

Superb discovery last night by chance! Very friendly team, with Manon and the manager, they took great care of us, a very generous mixed charcuterie/cheese platter, bread, quality products and good wine of course. Thank you for your kindness and good humor, we highly recommend! Even if my chauvinist husband clarified that salted butter was not a Beaujolais specialty....😉

My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try this place for a while. We finally managed to make a booking on a Sunday afternoon and we are so glad we did! We loved the staff recommendation and ended up ordering three glasses of wine each and some charcuterie and cheese for the evening. The ground floor although not large had lots of character and was a lovely place to spend a few hours. We had an absolutely wonderful time, thanks again to the very patient waiters for being so accommodating and friendly.

This wine bar was amazing! The hostess was so pleasant and the wine and cheese were delicious. Have been looking for another spot in London that’s as cozy!

It is an experience and I am sure that you will appreciate the enthusiasm of the hosts. I have given 4 stars for the food, as I do not want you to believe that I am related to them, in any way (but really should be 5). I have no criticism of anything here. I loved it!!!

What a nice wine bar! Very characterful, - ties hanging from the ceiling! Great selection of French wines to choose from and really friendly staff who helped recommend what we might like. We also had a charcuterie board with bread, which staff kindly topped up when we ran low. (Cold food only during the day, hot food available after 6pm I believe). We didn’t have a reservation on a Saturday afternoon but found a space easily. All in all, a great place to while away an afternoon with friends. Or maybe a fun place for a date!

I’ve been meaning to go for sometime, and watching a show nearby meant the opportunity finally arose. I didn’t have a booking but a seat was found on a big table where others were also sat. The whole place was packed with quite an eclectic bohemian crowd in this quirky bar/restaurant which gave the place a charming energy. Both the food and wine was excellent, served quickly, and the bill when it came showed great value too. If you, like me, love bars and restaurants that herald to a bygone time in a bygone place, then please do give this place a go.

This is an exceptional find, centrally located in Theatreland, 3 minutes walk from Leicester Square. A vibrant and busy spot, yet, service and attention to detail are second to none. Prices are reasonable and food and drink excellent. We would recommend Le Beaujolais without hesitation.

What a cute find! The wine is fantastic, the vibe is phenomenal! Apparently the food is epic too but we got there too late for that. I loved the ties hanging from the rafters. It’s been there forever and is French run. I can’t wait to go back!

As per the title, an old school wine bar, shambolic, full of tat, cramped and gloriously atmospheric. The staff are VERY Gallic but, here’s a twist, absolutely lovely, from the young bartender who greeted us to the older man who brought the bill. Probably not for younger, trend-driven diners, but very much for those who value character and warmth, with a hankering for the way things were. We ate very simply, but well on duck-and-pork rillettes and their renowned cheese platter - the selection of 8 pieces was very generous. Good, full Cremant de Jura to start and a bottle of Louis Latour’s Regnie, not cheap but what is in London? We will return, especially now that The Cork and Bottle and, God help us, Gordon’s are increasingly for social media led tourists.

This is an absolute gem ! French through and through. Have eaten in the wine bar a couple of times, nice to have something along with your choice of great wines. It's cosy, busy and friendly. Love this atmosphere.....long may it continue this way and never change.

In Covent Garden area looking for a charc board, this place came up and I had the opportunity to sit at the bar sipping glasses of wine (encore, s'il te plaît) as the patron count waxed and waned and I enjoyed the scene whilst reading some printed articles. Great evening.

My new favourite bar in London. A wonderfully quirky, buzzy place which couldn't feel further from the touristy, chain-heavy part of London it's situated in. Nice wine (I enjoyed a Viognier then a Beaujolais & Pinot Noir) & will be back to try the food. The place was absolutely packed but they seemed to be finding a way to accommodate everybody, whether standing, bar seating or at tables. We had reserved & were put on a table of 8 to share - sort of added to the charm but it wouldn't be for everyone.

Went for dinner with colleagues who were members of the dining club. I would give the restaurant 10 out of 10 for atmosphere, pleasant and efficient staff and friendly service. The food, however, was a little disappointing. Absolutely nothing to complain about, perfectly edible, but rather uninspiring; reminded me of the €15 menu I had in Boulogne recently. The culinary reputation seems to rest on having a very good cheese trolley.

A fantastic ambience, a genuine small part of France as we love it. The food is sensational, the Maison Vin Le Beaujolais is very moorish. It has the best cheese board I have ever seen in UK. Great lovely decor and cosy place but APPALLING service. The whole evening experience was ruined by this older male (manager)? It was busy and I understand. We were just trying to find a place to sit down for drinks. Then, he was rude by saying “what do you want me to say”. How odd! We didn’t even say anything that might upset him. I used to work in hospitality industry and I DO understand the work can be exhausting. But, please at least show some kindness to jolly first time customer. My friend recommended this place to me several times and had high praised, so I thought give it a go this evening. Definitely not going back.

Usual superb food and service. Took friends who were in London for Christmas and they were seriously impressed.

Small wine bar with extortionate prices. £66 for a bottle of white wine.

When in London we’ve always fancied visiting when spotting it walking past as we love everything French. We had an hour opportunity to visit before heading back home on the train, we popped in around 5pm Monday night and it was really lively and busy but the chap behind the bar said if there is a spare table with reserved on it we can have the table until the reserve time which was perfect as we only had an hour. We enjoyed the sharing platter for 3, even though only 2 of us, a huge board of meats and cheeses and pickles and terrines, absolutely delicious and perfectly French, with bread and crackers washed down with a lovely large glass of Bordeaux superior.

Very nice place,the restaurant is well located, the workers are amazing and the food is so tasty! I recommend 100%, and if you are French I recommend 1000%!

Always meet at Le B. with two old friends. One occasionally brings his dog Gromit, generally well behaved. Being here is as good as being at a bistro in Montmartre, Bordeaux, Avignon, or anywhere en La France. Simple, well ccoked food, charming service and an excellent wine list. An almost hidden gem.

I regret to say our experience at Le Beaujolais was highly disappointing. Despite it being lunchtime with ample space, the staff made it uncomfortably clear that our presence with a baby was unwelcome. We chose a table that accommodated our group of three adults and a baby in a pushchair without impeding any pathways, yet the server’s rudeness overshadowed our visit. His insistence that a baby should not be at the establishment was both shocking and disheartening. Such unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. I would urge families, especially those with young children, to consider the many other friendly options in the area where the welcome is warmer and the service is more accommodating.
