We loved it here, highlight of our day out! We had 8 cheeses, which the staff picked for us taking into consideration what we like and dislike (loved that). I loved all 8! We had bread and butter with it which was refilled as soon as we finished it. The staff seemed really cool and chilled, they told us the story of the ties on the ceiling which was interesting! We will definitely be back soon for more cheese and wine, and maybe some mains next time which also looked delicious!

Le Beaujolais was one of our favourite, centrally located, hidden gems. We'd go for the French wine, cheese, pate, rillettes and authentic, select French recipes, with a friendly service. No bookings here, just come along and wait for the next available table. You can share a table, too, so waiting times are not prohibitive. I love dining in France and Le Beaujolais was the closest thing you could find in Central London. However, the quality and overall value of the food has dropped noticeably, so my rating has dropped accordingly from 5 to 3 stars.

Is this the very last authentic tranche of old Soho, save for maybe the French House or Bardleys Bar? I think so. Remember a time when people remembered your name and greeted you? A time when you could walk into a bar or a restaurant and you would know some one in there? A local place, only slightly off the beaten track that was unknown to most but welcoming to all. Le Beaujolais is still like that, even after all these years, and with no awful refits! A serious place for lighthearted drinkers, foodies and good natured Bon viveurs, a Soho stalwart and legendary drinking hole that also serves very good food at competitive prices. A street level characterful wine bar that offers great food and drinks. A massive selection of wines and spirits, this is a drinkers paradise. A secret private members basement restaurant onsite also offers quality, French bitstro/brasserie favourites more than 150 wines and probably the best cheese selection in London, the service is always fabulous, friendly and generous. Its not fancy Micheline wannabe dots of bright green goo, or ridiculously adorned deserts... its much better than that, it feels like home.

What to say about Le Beaujolais? Fantastic, Great, Special, Hidden Gem and more. I have been a fan for many years and don’t get in as much now retired. My memories were fond but being there reminded me how much better it is. Basically a very French wine bar, owned and run by French people with mainly lovely French staff. The atmosphere was relaxed, the welcome warm and friendly and the wine selection wide. A great place to chill out and unwind or to meet for a chat. Reasonably priced given its central position. Well worth a visit. Salut

What an amazing find. I met Pascal behind the bar who had been here for 35 years. Swapped some travel stories, talked about the delta blues and learned he is unfortunately retiring soon. The food was great. The wine was good. Got to taste a couple before deciding which is always great when you are not familiar with them. Apparently this is a typical Parisian local bar and if so I am all in. I regret posting this if it's going to bring more people here but at the same time it was amazing and I need to give credit where credit is due.

Usually I love this place, it’s a rare gem in London and feels like a place somewhere in Paris. However, when I went this week, I was appalled by how rudely a member of staff - an older bald man - acted . After I ordered at the bar because it was so busy, he went to my table and insulted me to my friend, saying that I clearly didn’t listen to him saying he would come to the table. Then behind the bar he had a huge l rant at me - calling me swear words in French under his breath (I speak French - which he clearly didn’t realise). He then ignored me and my friend for the rest of the evening, even after my friend asked to buy another class of wine. You expect at least basic dignity and respect from another human being let alone a member of staff. So disappointed. I will not be coming here again while this man works here. Horribly rude. It ruined the evening.

I have been coming here for more or less twenty years. This time I came with my elder son, although I also visit with the wider family, with friends and with a group of professional colleagues. The welcome is always warm, and the quality of the food, wines and service has been and is consistently high Although there are many firm favourites on the menu, each day there are additional choices, and the terrines (made in the traditional way) have to be tasted to be believed. The same, of course, can be said of the famous cheese board (more accurately, a trolley). As customers must be members of the club, and their guests, the management is able to predict, pretty well, what they are likely to order, and this suits the traditional French way of buying ingredients, which is to shop for fresh, every day. The style of cuisine is not trendy or gimmicky, but is traditional, and is the more welcome for that: there are no unnecessary frills. The range and quality of wines is remarkable, with some excellent burgundies, sometimes available in magnum. The house wines (Côtes de Ventoux) are also very acceptable and fairly priced. Suitably qualified members may also behead bottles of champagne with a sabre briquet hanging on the wall for that purpose. Because the restaurant is a club, it does not publish its menu, although a somewhat different and limited menu is available in the wine bar, where tables may also be booked and which is open to all comers. I believe that those who are invited to visit the restaurant, in particular, should consider themselves fortunate, and will want to be asked back!

The rillettes de canard are 😍it’s called Le Beaujolais and then have all ten Beaujolais Cru, something I’ve never seen in England before. Oh, and the backing music was classic rock too. As per the title, an old school wine bar, shambolic, full of tat, cramped and gloriously atmospheric. The staff are VERY Gallic but, here’s a twist, absolutely lovely, from the young bartender who greeted us to the older man who brought the bill. Probably not for younger, trend-driven diners, but very much for those who value character and warmth, with a hankering for the way things were. We ate very simply, but well on duck-and-pork rillettes and their renowned cheese platter - the selection of 8 pieces was very generous. Good, full Cremant de Jura to start and a bottle of Louis Latour’s Regnie, not cheap but what is in London? We will return, especially now that The Cork and Bottle and, God help us, Gordon’s are increasingly for social media led tourists.

My new favourite bar in London. A wonderfully quirky, buzzy place which couldn't feel further from the touristy, chain-heavy part of London it's situated in. Nice wine (I enjoyed a Viognier then a Beaujolais & Pinot Noir) & will be back to try the food. The place was absolutely packed but they seemed to be finding a way to accommodate everybody, whether standing, bar seating or at tables. We had reserved & were put on a table of 8 to share - sort of added to the charm but it wouldn't be for everyone.

I regret to say our experience at Le Beaujolais was highly disappointing. Despite it being lunchtime with ample space, the staff made it uncomfortably clear that our presence with a baby was unwelcome. We chose a table that accommodated our group of three adults and a baby in a pushchair without impeding any pathways, yet the server’s rudeness overshadowed our visit. His insistence that a baby should not be at the establishment was both shocking and disheartening. Such unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. I would urge families, especially those with young children, to consider the many other friendly options in the area where the welcome is warmer and the service is more accommodating.

It was packed when I walked in; the mademoiselle allowed me to stand by the bar to drink while waiting for a seat. Had a petite assiette de charcuterie to accompany my drinks. While food is not my main concern, the generous selection of 6 types of cured meats & a pate made me very happy. Drinks wise, started with a Ricard, then a glass each of muscadet sevre, Gigondas, Cahors. Enjoyed the progression between wine and the charcuterie. The eclectic decor of ties & glass mugs hung from the wooden ceiling made the place feel more fun. For me, service is good. One of the weirdest experiences. We were seated on the bar. My partner was pushed (not a exaggeration, and he did not attempt to say excuse me or anything) out the way by the manager when he was trying to get behind the bar. We were both in shock to even say anything and generally struggle to complain. We then moved ourselves to a table when one freed up. The other waiter seemed to have an issue with this as it was booked for two hours later, but almost seemed like she was doing us a favour by letting us sit there for a drink. We then asked for the bill after our drink. I could see three staff members trying to work out which our bill was. I offered to tell them what we had, which they completely ignored. I then got up to go to the bar to help, when another waiter acted like I was trying to leave without paying. Extremely weird staffing practise and just felt so uncomfortable and unwanted the whole time we were there. Very pretty interior and in theory would be a lovely bar

Very nice vibe, a bit too small not that much space to seat and a bit expensive. Make sure to turn up sooner rather than later. Otherwise you won’t be able to get a space at the bar. The staff is French so it makes it more traditional

Another great afternoon at Le Beaujoulais. Sat upstairs outside in the sunshine for a change enjoying the wine and Croque Monsieur

Wonderful service. Lovely food. This is what a proper neighborhood restaurant should be in every sense. I will be back.

Authentic, genuine and truly a little piece of old fashioned France in London….we’re so glad we’ve found this little place…I almost don’t want to write about it as I’d love to keep it our little special secret. Gerard gave us the nicest welcome and was kind and lovely…like an old friend. There was a real sense of calm, almost a 1970s feel to this place that I really loved and that you rarely find these days. Things were left alone, unfussed or updated, because they still work and work well in being true and authentic, without a pressure to be reinvented to suit today’s throw away, glitzy, ritzy, commercially overbearing world. Everyone was friendly and well behaved, a simple, sophisticated, relaxed atmosphere. Our food was well cooked and served promptly which was good as we were on the way to a matinee at The Ambassadors Theatre. Will definitely go again.

Very authentic French bar (not the Club of the same name below - which is Incredible!). Had several carafe's of house white which was decent and great value. Regular haunt for me and will be back soon for food and wine - definitely worth a visit.

Fab place, very personable staff and owner. Don't often say this but it made a memory for me in all aspects of the experience. It is so nice to find a place that is authentic and so individual. Food was good and well priced. Every member of the staff smiled and it was clear that as well as being a great place to be a customer, the people who work there love it to. Bravo, Les Beaujolais!

There was a live insect, moving in a drink, and the solution the restaurant provided was just quickly taking the insect out and gave it back to us. Appalling service!!!! They also put extra more item on our bill which we didn’t order… added up to be horrible service. I would avoid this restaurant. Food is very mediocre. We ended up leaving earlier than we planned. ** The reply from the restaurant is nonsense, we won’t randomly accuse you of “simply remove the insect”. Please don’t try to fool us. ** Plus we don’t think got the bill wrong and corrected it until we ask for is something to be very proud of.

Very friendly and accommodating booking; I must have booked one day later than intended - despite the restaurant being full, they made it work for us to have dinner as intended. Oysters were fresh and tasty, so was the main course (sea bass in foil), followed by crème brulle. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere - suitable for business dinner as much as for gatherings with friends.

We were saddened to hear that this lovely place is about to close and rushed to enjoy a last meal there a few days before the final service. We ignored the truly weird psychodrama being played out at the next table by a couple whose relationship seems unlikely to last until that last service and gave ourselves over the the cosseting service, delicious food and simply amazing views. Galvin at Windows will be much missed.
