First, the Londoner Hotel is outstanding and the service is superb. We were treated like royalty by Olga and her colleagues during breakfast, no waiting for food or seating and the food was tasty.

Amazing top service from Barbera

Excellent, fresh food with a superb wine list. Service is brilliant. Our server, Rokaya, exemplified the vibe: helpful, attentive and very professional. Great for dinner or pre-theatre.

Not for me. The baby chicken consisted of 3 bites of chicken (albeit tasty) and a side salad. Bill came to £60 each and I had to have a snack when I got home.

I chose Whitcomb’s to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Unfortunately we found the food rather disappointing and menu very limited. I have been to restaurants serving French cuisine, and found the menu lacking and the food bland. Also disappointed when we ordered a drink and the server then decided to tell us the price, not sure why??? Not the best experience and would not recommend

Dead average, way overpriced food

I booked via The Fork for the first time and seemed to work well though having had to move my booking a day ahead I realised the staff has to confirm and take the booking and put it in their other booking system. You’d have thought the systems can be somehow linked these days but at least it seems like they have a system in place. We popped by Sunday evening so not sure how busy it normally gets but atmosphere was good and staff were pleasant from door to restaurant and when we left. We didn’t feel too rushed either which was good. Though maybe advise staff to not be too presumptuous with guessing whose cocktail belongs to who. We were not too hungry so went for a few dishes to share: Seafood platter: this was delicious and fresh with plenty between two people (forgot to photograph). We enjoyed all the bits, though the Tabasco on the oyster was just a tad too much for me (as someone who can’t handle spices well). Steak tartare: I rarely come across one with Parmesan and we very much enjoyed it, the blend of flavours didn’t overwhelm the steak and helped bring out the tenderness and flavour. There were just enough sheets of pane carasau to share and finish the tartare on, whilst some places don’t give you enough. Mushroom Risotto: (also photo to photograph) the taste was well balanced and creamy, truffle flavour was just right and not overwhelming nor too little. Potato Mousse: (sorry no photo) this was light and fluffy. We had it to break up the taste from the risotto so we can enjoy the risotto without it being too full on. Chocolate Cylinder(?): This was more my partners choice as I had my liquid dessert but had a mouthful and it was tasty, not too heavy. The flavours from the compilation complimented each other very well. Thank you for the lovely evening.

We went to the restaurant because it had options of ordering dishes a la carte or a set menu. We chose the menu because we could choose between several starters, seconds and dessert. The place was beautiful and the waiters, in addition to being very well dressed, were very friendly and attentive. They took care of every detail and advised us to drink a fruity white wine that was up to the standards of the establishment. The flavors of the dishes were otherworldly and I couldn't settle on one in particular.

Visited Whitcomb's for my best friend's birthday as part of a Virgin experience day. When we arrived we were promptly taken to our table. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered things to share off the set menu - the burrata & mushroom carpaccio to start, sea bass and chicken for mains, and custard apple & lemongrass vacherin & chocolate and apple cylinder for dessert. All the food came out promptly and we didn't have to wait long for the next course. It was also paired with a glass of wine so we enjoyed the house white with our meal. The food itself was fairly nice. The ones I liked the most were the sea bass, fries & vacherin dessert. I wasn't a huge fan of the carpaccio because the sauce was a bit too tart and I didn't like the texture of the mushroom slices. Everything else was nice, but the flavour profile of the burrata and orange was a bit confusing. Overall, a nice experience.

We had a delicious meal in a very relaxed atmosphere. We were served by Olya who was super attentive, nice and friendly and went out of her way to make us feel very welcome. Olya also made recommendations for dessert and sides and we were not disappointed - the best service we have received in a long time in London.

Whitcombs was great, really enjoyed the mushroom risotto and would have loved another Burrata. Barbara was really helpful suggesting what to eat and drink. I know very little about wine so this was a great help!

The food was lovely, for a set menu it was really enjoyable. The place itself is gorgeous and a very pleasant experience. Service impeccable, it was friendly and yet professional, attentive but also discreet, they won't rush you so make sure to consider time when there, as it will fly. Barbara was our head waitress and she was simply brilliant, she made our meal extremely enjoyable and her menu suggestions were spot on.

Overall a nice experience and you don't feel like you're in the middle of Leicester Square. The food was good although the snails were not great unfortunately. Nice for an easy family lunch.

You will gonna enjoy a 5-star service and food here! We booked from the Fork, not with much expectations. We ordered their the Fork menu plus an ordinary Sunday Roast! The Sunday Roast is impressive, comparatively more expensive than what you can find in most places of course, but it is worth it. The tenderness and the taste is excellent. Can enjoy the performance as well once you finish or before getting in for your meal at the lobby during weekends!

Such a lovely atmosphere and Barbara recommended some of the best dishes, she was attentive all evening and we were well looked after!! Amazing customer service

Very disappointing - the very good food was overshadowed by a clash of loud music - one set coming from outside the restaurant area and a different set of very strong beat music (not suitable for relaxing eating and talkinh) from within. To cap it all, another customer was allowed to take a call on their phone on loudspeaker mode, to add to the din. No return visit on the cards

I loved this eggs Benedict served with an amazing hollandaise sauce, pancetta bacon and a perfectly (seriously) poached egg.

We celebrated a special birthday dinner here and everything was excellent! Delicious meals (loved the burrata with orange and our sea bass was cooked to perfection) and very professional staff. Will be returning for sure.

Great place for a romantic night out.

Booked the £195pp NYE dining set menu and was disappointing to be frank. We were placed on a table in the corner in a crowded area. Orders were incorrectly taken and had to chase for our items. Atmosphere in the venue was not what you'd expect for NYE. A let down and not what you expect from a 5* Hotel establishment.

Had the New Year’s Eve late sitting. A litany of errors and disappointment. On arrival, no one took our coats/offered cloakroom. Arrival drinks arrived late despite also chasing the M for it, our appetiser was delivered incorrect three times, soft drinks arrived 40 mins late. Regularly had to as for our water to be topped up, I ordered steak and was not asked how I wanted it cooked. I requested a table next to entertainment two weeks prior but was put on a table far away. Small portions and sides. Overall service rushed with novice staff, and tables very close together. Poor experience.

Average hotel restaurant with small portions and harried staff. It was hard to get anyone’s attention as they rushed past our table. The escargots sauce was some sort of emulsion and they were not served with bread to eat the sauce with. The chicken flavor was good, but the meat was tough. Needed more roasting. The best feature was the really nice washrooms off the lobby, but one doesn’t usually choose a restaurant for that. It was fine, but we would not return.

We had a pre-ordered Christmas lunch. Having spent Christmas Eve at a Michelin star Indian restaurant, this was such a better experience. It's not cheap but was a enjoyable customer experience. Staff was nice and very professional. And the food and drinks were very corret and delicious. Nice atmosphere in the hotel overall.

Food was extremely dry and tasteless, needed more seasoning. Service as very mid, didn’t seem luxury for such a nice hotel. The restaurant was quiet, surprising for the time of year. Overall the expensive was not worth the money or service.

This ended up being our favorite meal while in London! Steak and fish were cooked just right, sauces were delicious and sides were fantastic. The green beans were a hit with the whole table, highly recommend. Service was great and they even offered to split the check 5 ways for our group which we didn’t expect but appreciated. Price was reasonable on top of all of that. The hotel lounge looked super comfortable and had a lovely jazz pianist playing. We would have stayed longer but had to dash off to a play!

Decent European food, very great service, modern atmosphere with noisy music. However quite expensive (£90 per head) for what you get

Good food but abysmal service. Took over an hour for initial drinks, during which time they didn’t even give us menus. Didn’t bring my main as there was an error on initial recording so instead of sea bass they’d prepared chicken. We were on the set menu (had to ask for as wasn’t presented with) which didn’t mention/offer any sides, nor was it mentioned by the staff when ordering. Food then turned up as just the meat. In short order all we could get was their chip side dish. Manager offered to pay for the deserts on the set menu as compensation, but when the bill arrived deserts were charged. A shame as the food when it arrived was nice. Just let down by some of the worst service I’ve seen in years. Try it if you’re prepared for a VERY slow lunch where you might not get all you ask for. Otherwise I’d give it a miss!

So bad we walked out ! Booked a table for four but waited 20 minutes for a waiter to bring us a single menu, saying he couldn't find any more. When asked about cocktails he said he did not know, could not provide a drinks menu and had no idea of the prices. Waited another 20 minute sfor someone to come and take our order - nobody came so we walked out. What a shambles !

Food both underwhelming and scant. Portions so small. Nothing was special and Escargot very tough. Barely any peach in the salad and baby chicken was tiny. Green bean salad was very good. Wine very expensive. We eat out very often and have rarely left a London restaurant still hungry, yet spent £85 per head. Four of us all left disappointed. Staff very nice and wine menu impressive, albeit high prices.

I ordered the Express Lunch menu, fried sea bass for the main and a pain perdu for dessert. The portions are a lot smaller than the calorie count on the menu. I complained about this to the manager who proceeded to say that I complain too much and dismissed me from the restaurant. The salad served tasted like a McDonalds garden salad.

Extremely expensive for such a basic kitchen.

The peaches in the peach salad were hard as rock (and were not caramelized as the menu stated) and the rest of the salad mediocre. The himachi was decent but very skimpy for 25 pounds. The linguine with prawns was good but the tortellini was terrible, one bite of the whitefish a bit suspect. What Italian doesn’t give free bread to soak up the extra sauce? It doesn’t even need to be good bread! Portions were all small and overpriced. Room is nice but two extraordinarily ugly photographs are difficult to look at. Waiter was very nice but what the manager did was appalling. I went to the bathroom and then came back. My friend then went to the bathroom and was followed out, accused of leaving without paying the bill. Seriously who would do that? They said they didn’t see me come back. Is this really a problem? We were quite upset. Manager apology was incredibly lame. Restaurant was mostly empty. It is in serious need of major changes.

Seriously good food with the location to match. The staff have a wealth of knowledge are really take the take to run you through menu. Would highly recommend.

My friend, Sharon and I came to experience Whitcomb's on Sunday 1st September 2024, it had come highly recommended by a few friends. The Veuve Cliquot terrace was a joy to sit in while waiting for my lunch date to arrive. I had a glass of Veuve (Yellow Label, of course) and the staff were friendly and helpful. Lunch was served inside the restaurant and our server, Rippon, was knowledgeable about the menu - we settled for Escargots, King Prawns Linguine and the triple pressed Rosemary Fries were a dream! The Veuve Cliquot terrace was such fun that we repaired to it for Dessert and some more champagne. If you are looking for laidback, Sunday close enough to the hustle and bustle of Leicester Square, yet cozy enough to not be distracted by it, then may I suggest Whitcomb's at the Londoner, oh and you must leave space for the Dessert Menu - trust me, you will be glad you did! We had a drink on the Terrace and the staff could not be more welcoming and so charming and professional. For example, I noticed finger marks on my glass (holding it up to the sunlight) which I did not draw attention to. In a flash the glasses were both replaced with squeaky clean glasses. This was due to attention to the customer. Would definitely visit again.

Food was decent but nothing to write home about. The portion sizes were small and the staff were not trained. At this price point, you’d expect a better customer experience overall.

Excellent place for a delicious breakfast. The service is the best, with friendly and welcoming staff. The atmosphere is relaxed, but elegant. I recommend the English breakfast along with the breakfast bar for fresh fruit, juices, and other items.

Good food but very small portions and too high prices

One of the best places I have ever eaten. Went here after running the London Marathon so my stomach was a bit turned and I wasn’t particularly hungry. The freshness and overall quality of the food was impossible to ignore however. This was my wife’s first experience with true Mediterranean cuisine…. Yeah I’m gonna have a tough time topping that one

In the midst of the craziness of Leicester Square, The Londoner is a seriously cool spot. First class meeting rooms and service. The lunch in Whitcomb's was the highlight of the day though. We went for the 2 course express lunch and it was absolutely delicious. Restaurant team were efficient, knowledgeable and warm. Highly recommend.

The food here is fantastic. A special shoutout to the chef for the pan fried sea bass - it was cooked to perfection and incredibly delicious. It was most certainly the best sea bass I had ever eaten. Very attentive and friendly service as well.

I am addressing those who intend to book through TheFork taking advantage of the discount by exchanging Yums. Stay away as these scammers because of they canceled my reservation, with only two hours notice, with a simple email and not via The Fork app. This is to avoid any sanctions, but I have already taken steps to report their incorrect behavior.

I decided to try here on a Sunday night: the room very much seems like it is just a corner room of a hotel but the food and service were great;only had two courses (snails with nduja butter followed by pan fried sea bass with chips (which were infinitely better than the average chip served in restaurants these days) but both were very good. Service was also excellent: I doubt I will ever stay at The Londoner but if I’m looking for something to eat in this area, id definitely think about going back here.

This is my second time and I'm really impressed with all Aspects. Very comfortable seating. Airy attractive room, lighting just right and you can hear yourself and your guests speak. Amazing service. Clever mouth watering menu with creative quirks that work seamlessly I tasted everyone's dishes and all were Absolutely delicious. My only aside is that the chef needs to lighten up on the amount of salt used and some of the desserts are a bit too fussy. The crumble though was stunning. If you're seeing a play or movie in the area this is a must for before or after meal. 🌻🪷

Worst dining experience so far. We booked a table for Valentine's Day, and it was the worst possible choice, we really regretted it. Terrible service with an unpleasant hostess who was serving at the same time. We certainly arrived a few minutes late (impossible to contact them to notify them because they don't answer the phone) but not a smile, no friendliness. We were then seated at a table next to each other without any privacy and all this in a dark atmosphere as the light barely illuminated our tables. Then comes the meal... a starter and then a 1.5 hour wait to get what's next, our table neighbors had the same experience and had to stay in this restaurant for 3 hours in order to get through their endless evening, Other neighbors even left without having eaten because the wait was so long. Understaffed, the evening team was constantly in a rush and had the luxury of being unpleasant. We left this dinner frustrated before dessert because there was concrete abuse there. For this price we expect at least a minimum of consideration. Food was just ok. Thank you all the same to Louise who took over the service and who was the most professional and friendly during this long evening. To avoid, we are also very surprised by the number of positive reviews.

To start, let me be clear the food here is good and what you'd expect for the price. Unfortunately there are many other places within walking distance where the food is good, and at those you will get a matching level of good service. The service here really let it down. We had most our courses come out whilst our dirty dishes were still on our table. The waiter with the tray of food would stand around waiting for another waiter to come over, remove the dirty dishes and then find new sets of cutlery. The whole time we can see our food standing next to the table. The waiters predominantly spoke on whispers making it extremely hard to hear them. Lastly when the bill came the waiter asked if we wanted a card machine and said he would be right back with it. Around 15 minutes later with no sight of our waiter we had to flag down another one to pay. This is already after having to flag down someone to bring the bill, which was not easy given how rarely it felt like a waiter was anywhere close to the table. Unfortunately, the food here although good is nothing to shout about compared to the rest of the good food in London and I won't be going back considering the other experiences I can get at a similar price point.

We visited this place last week, it was very nice ambience with nice music & Wonderful staff , our waitress was olha . She really took good care of us , really appreciate his professional service, I my self as a waiter learnt something new from her.😆

This is a nice restaurant away from the hussle and bussle that is Leicester Square. The service was fine although a little intrusive at times as was the background music. Our starters were a bit bland and overpriced (e.g. £7 for small basket of bread). Likewise our mains were quite small but were very well executed and actually very tasty indeed. Overall, it's a reasonable place to dine if you are in the area but there's definitely room for improvement.

I expected something more for the price. Good quality. Steak tartare has nothing to do with the authentic one.
