The best restaurants in East of England

Friendly cafe at the end of the high street with huge portions and reasonable prices compared with other cafes in the area. I was able to swap chips for rice with no problems and we were still greeted with a friendly smile the next time we visited and only ordered toast and tea.

First time ever coming to Maharani and definitely won't be our last! Fantastic experience from start to finish, staff are super attentive, and food is amazing.

Went here for the first time last week and the service was the fastest I've ever experienced. The options on the menu offer something different to your average Indian restaurant. I went for the deep-sea special and it was so delicious, I took the rest home in a doggy bag as I couldn't waste it. The best curry I've ever had

The Jerk Chicken Rice and Peas meal was outstanding. Chicken was delicious, rice perfectly cooked, and the jerk sauce was liquid gold. Top service as well, will be going back, a lot.

Ordered takeaway and there was a stone like object in the cream sauce which broke my 2 teeth. Manager said he will help cover the cost so I got them fixed but he seems to be avoiding now. Think twice before you eat from this restaurant.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Basildon Turkish Grill! From the moment the food arrived, I knew I was in for a treat. The mixed grill platter was a feast for the senses—perfectly grilled chicken, juicy lamb, and tender kebabs, all bursting with authentic flavor and expertly seasoned. The portions were incredibly generous, and everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. The side dishes were just as impressive—creamy hummus, rich garlic sauce, and a fresh, crisp salad that balanced the richness of the meat beautifully. The warm, fluffy bread was the perfect companion to soak up every last bit of deliciousness. Even the sauces were full of depth and flavor, especially the spicy one that added an extra kick! To top it off, the service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere on the terrace made for a relaxing, enjoyable lunch. I can confidently say this was one of the best Turkish meals I’ve had in the UK. Highly recommended, and I will definitely be coming back!BEST IN ESSEX!

I have been going for years and have always really loved the food. We order the special mixed grill. Ordered in Friday and it seems that portions have reduced but price is the same. Shame as we will look elsewhere where

Place was AMAZING!!! Such good food. Breakfast has so many options and everything is freshly prepared and tasty. The staff is so friendly and the atmosphere is very family oriented.

Only went for a meal. Very big restaurant and quite noisy although the service was good. We prefer quieter smaller pub restaurants.

Absolutely stunning food. We had the burger with rib meat, and the burger with brisket (no food photos because we ate it). Can't fault the service. Only staying locally for a week, but will definitely return before we leave. Update: Returned today Had a BBQ blowout, and a rack of ribs. Need a fork truck to be removed from the building. Banging food, faultless. Photos from this trip. Brewski is a bonus too, not a bad lager at all.

Went today with my friend,food was good but wasn’t pleased with service as they forgot both of our sides and when they gave it to us it was cold !
