Tav Meze Grill in Basildon

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Basildon Turkish Grill! From the moment the food arrived, I knew I was in for a treat. The mixed grill platter was a feast for the senses—perfectly grilled chicken, juicy lamb, and tender kebabs, all bursting with authentic flavor and expertly seasoned. The portions were incredibly generous, and everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. The side dishes were just as impressive—creamy hummus, rich garlic sauce, and a fresh, crisp salad that balanced the richness of the meat beautifully. The warm, fluffy bread was the perfect companion to soak up every last bit of deliciousness. Even the sauces were full of depth and flavor, especially the spicy one that added an extra kick! To top it off, the service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere on the terrace made for a relaxing, enjoyable lunch. I can confidently say this was one of the best Turkish meals I’ve had in the UK. Highly recommended, and I will definitely be coming back!BEST IN ESSEX!

Popped in to tav mez as local to us greeted by friendly staff we had the basildon platter for 2 which was great value for money and tasted amazing will definitely go back highly recommend.

We ordered takeaway online and received a 20% discount. When we arrived to collect we were pleasantly greeted. We had a short wait for our order but it was worth it. The food was fresh and the salad was crisp. Would recommend.

We popped in this new kebab restaurant on Sunday just to get a menu, we were very impressed by the look of the food being cooked that we decided to back in an hour and have a meal, we were greeted by very friendly, pleasant and polite staff and shown to a table. Now ive have been looking for a certain type of Halep/Iskender kebab for over 15 years in Basildon, but this type of dish i can only find in London where i come from, no one else around Basildon does it like this, so i thought i would give this mans dish a try, not holding much hopes out that it would be the same as i get in London, to my surprise it was done perfectly, finally a Iskender made properly with the most perfect sauce ive ever had, in fact better than the London ones ive had all my life, i got talking to very nice owner who explained that he had worked in his kebab shop in Dalston, London for 20 years previous to this and that's where he had done all his training, once he mentioned his original shop i immediately knew where it was, he went on to tell us he also has a restaurant in Brentwood so we'll be going there soon too, My misses had a Lamb shish and chicken shish combination which came with couscous, rice, salad, before the meals were served he loaded our table with Turkish bread, chilli sauce dip, hummus, garlic mayo & Cacik dip, all of the food was cooked to perfection, the salad was fresh and crisp, and at the end of the meal they offered us a Turkish tea each, the service was fantastic, and the best part of all was the price, it was very cheap for the top quality of food we were presented with, the food presentation was excellent too, i cant speak highly enough for this small restaurant and the family that run it, we will be going regularly from now onwards and ill be taking the rest of my family too and wont be eating Turkish food anywhere else again, this is 100% our go to Turkish food place from now on, i wish i had taken more photo's of the food to show you all but please see the 3 i have attached - 10/10 for everything, Thank you Basildon Turkish Grill

If I had chance I would give no star Ok we order lahmacum from this place to be delivered to our home, they send the lahmacun on its on, no salad nothing just lahmacun I never had lahmacun served like that not in Turkey or UK. On top of all of this dough was nothing like lahmacun it was like nan bread with mince meat on top. The ingredients was so little it was like spead butter on top of nan bread. This was our first time ordering from this restaurant normally we order somewhere else but last night that place was closed and just eat show this restaurant but we will never order again from this restaurant and we will never recommend this place to anyone who wants lahmacun.

Such a genuine and nice owner. Food is absolutely gorgeous, the lachmacun is fully covered in meat Not like other places, it has just the right amount of spice and vert flavoursome. The lamb shish was melt in the mouth, not tough, well cooked and delicious. The authentic bread instead of pitta and the rice accompanying it were also so flavoursome and cooked to perfection. 100% recommend ordering from here. Will be back (multiple times).

What a stunning little find for us. Went in for the lunch menu and we were not disappointed. The food is absolutely 10/10, the staff are polite and friendly, the place is clean and tidy. The amount of food we got for the price we paid was 100% spot on! Would 100% recommend this place. Will definitely be back with friends and family.

Food was absolutely stunning. The meat of lamb chops and shish was just so soft it melted in your mouth. Fresh hot bread, fresh salad - stunning. The only thing I would say is the rice portion could be a bit more generous. Overall amazing.

Top notch, great food, tasty and fast delivery. Driver very friendly, some time ago I ordered and it was fantastic however I did get my order confused with another restaurant that we ordered from on the same day. We had family round and half and wanted that and the others wanted decent kebabs. It was noted from the restaurant that I did in fact put a negative comment of which is my own fault . I love what you all do here and I apologise for my previous comment. Thank you 🙏

This was my first time using this restaurant, fancied a change from my normal Turkish. Well certainly picked a great choice! The mixed kebab was amazing! All food still piping hot when arrived and a friendly driver too. Well recommend and will use again

Quite a bad experience quality wise, as a first time customer, the lamp chops were sent to me as if I was a beggar. 6 small chicken wings for £7.90! Yeah there is rise in cost of living but to sent that kind of food out for £46 order!

So tasty. Slightly pricey but Turkish food is. The halloumi was melt in the mouth, the houmous was delicious as well as the salad, the calamari was large and top notch, the chicken sarma beyti was so flavourful and loads of it, and the lamb ribs were mouth watering good. I even came away with a doggy bag because I couldn't eat it all. Will definitely be back.

Without doubt the best Turkish food in Basildon. The taste is always good. The portion sizes are enough yo share. Well worth a try if you haven't yet. Also the meat is grilled so good for a cheat day if your dieting like me. 👍 Lovely Staff as well ☺️

I don’t normally leave reviews but this needs one, to start the food is horrible and expensive. The food quality is poor, meat is chewy. Flavour? Non existent, the bread had more flavour than the meat. The person below who said it’s as good as Dalston must have been drunk when they wrote that as this could not even compare to anywhere in Dalston. Lamb chops here are £21.50 for £3.50 more you can go to eyna or kervan and get proper nice food. As someone who loves Turkish food and has tried Turkish food in over 50 different restaurants this one is by far the worst. The service is beyond poor, plus the restaurant was completely empty on a Friday night. That should have been my first sign to walk out and leave. I might as well have just thrown my £30 in the bin just like I did with this food, it ended up uneaten and in the bin.

Visited first time last night ( Saturday) definitely won't be the last food was exceptional if you want real Turkish food tav is the place to go

Top grub easily the best kebab in town

Beautiful food. My recommendations would be the Adana Kebab or Alti Ezmeli lamb. Both amazing dishes, the chef is obviously very passionate about food. On the last order we had, they even threw in a free portion of baklava which was really nice of them :) Really cannot rate them enough!

First time ordering food arrived early piping hot and big portions, garlic dip was so tasty bread was the best we have had from a Turkish restaurant lovely meal. we even got a slice of baklava complimentary. Will definitely be ordering again highly reccomend

I moved to Laindon from the Romford area where there are loads of good Turkish places about 3 years ago and struggled to find a good one round here since moving. Discovered Tav a couple of months ago and am now a regular, really good food, quality ingredients, really nice people that run the place too. Lamb chops are massive and are amazing!

I dint leave reviews but I have to say this food was delivered hot and on time full of flavour, bread was also better than the usual hard pitta the salad was really fresh the delivery man was really friendly so over all I would recommend as the food was 10/10 will be using soon!

Missing half of the order, food was warm ( not hot ), arrived late. I’ve never had a problem when ordering in the shop and this is the first time getting delivered. Shoddy, subpar standards- for £45 and half the order missing. This will be the first and last I order from here. Beware … large meal ( means more chips and the drink - seen as a cup etc is just a standard can ), mega rip off, they miss items off the order and have the audacity to charge even greater prices - my girlfriend had to share

Got a takeaway, great quick service with a friendly delivery lady ,my wife had a medium chicken Shish and I had a large lamb shish and both meal were absolutely superb , the meat was lovely and tender with not one bit of fat on it , so two empty plates later couldn’t recommend highly enough
