Great place, old style pub in the heart of Southwold town. We ate in the evening. Lovely food, not sophisticated but very well cooked, sensible portion size and served quickly. Bar had a broad selection of Adnams ales, all in all an excellent evening. Friendly to humans and dogs.

We were in the area for the weekend & had booked a different pub for our Sunday lunch but the accommodation we were staying in recommended this venue & we are so glad he did - what a find! There were 8 of us & we managed to book last minute. We all had the roast which was amazing, desserts & wine. Cannot fault it & hopefully will come back another day

I was blown away by the food, really good value for money, super tasty and very accommodating. My Mum is dairy intolerant and they changed the prawn dish which was originally in a butter sauce to prawns in tempura batter!!. I have eaten many times in Lowestoft but for us this has been the best !!

We came here on a recommendation and so glad we did. We booked beforehand as it is very popular and understandly so. The layout is really in keeping with its tudor roots with low beams and cosiness. It had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. There was a big variety of meals to choose from (and a very extensive vegetarian/vegan menu too) which are all home cooked. I had the Huntsman chicken which was q very generous portion accompanied by chips, salad and coleslaw. It was served on a hot plate, which is always a bonus. My husband has the pie of the day (which was Steak and Ale) which was accompanied by mash (you had a choice.of potatoes) and a large portion of vegetables and gravy. Without prompting, they also brought extra gravy in a gravy boat. The food was absolutely delicious with great flavours and definitely satisfied your appetite. I was tempted by the desserts and decided on the cherry cornflake tart with custard which was divine. Special mention to the very friendly and helpful staff who are a credit to the pub. The prices of the meals were very good and we will definitely be returning to try one of their Sunday Roasts. A very enjoyable experience.

Nine of us went in there on Saturday 22nd June for lunch and we weren't disappointed would highly recommend going in there Donna and her staff were very friendly and very helpful. I hadn't been in there for 30yrs but as we were up that way we had to try it. It's, changed a lot but for the best. Thankyou Donna for the photo shoot 😁😁 ☺️

This is a proper 'pub' used by real people who live or work nearby. It's not pretentious in any way, just clean, tidy, warm and friendly. And the pub does not currently offer or provide food other than bar nibbles - perfect!

We ordered a couple kebabs back in February. Basically I was a fatty and wanted a large kebab with fried mushrooms. When it arrived, the mushrooms were so bad the grease was leaking out of it. I just guessed because shrooms are greasy are them. Well not long after, I ended up throwing up violently then had diarrhea all night. I basically got food poisoning from the oil and guessed the fryer they used hasn't been clean for a while. Ever since then we haven't ordered again. If you want to see your meal twice then go ahead. If you value your health and dont want to be throwing up and crapping at the same time don't order. I would give this a 0 stars if that was an option
