This place has so much potential and so much going for it in terms of location. We waited 1 hour and 40 mins for our food, at which point we asked if it was on the way as had been warned about the poor service but wanted to give them a chance. Our order apparently hadn’t been sent to the kitchen! They then delivered a part order within ten mins (with the excuse that the normal chef wasn’t working today). We asked for drinks on the house, we weren’t offered them but they did agree…however, we had to remind the staff twice. We then got a refund for the missing items that we had paid for. The staff are very pleasant but I’ve never heard the word ‘sorry’ ever used so many times to so many customers. They were all very young and inexperienced, obviously very embarrassed and the owner did not come and speak with us or any of the other tables that had been in exactly the same position. We were all speaking about how poorly run it was and what a huge shame as the food was good, the setting fabulous and they really are sitting on an untapped goldmine. Take ownership and pull it together, it’s a super spot.

For the third time now in two weeks we have had the most exceptional curry. The meet isn’t all cubed and tasteless like you sometimes get it’s all deliciously authentic. Good sized portions and wonderful flavour. We have had many curries over the years and the village tandoori or “Oasis” is by far the best. Extremely friendly and deliver to your door. Won’t be going anywhere else that’s for sure.

We arrived and we were quickly shown to our table. Our drinks orders were taken, and we were swiftly served. Our meal order was taken after some deliberation over the menu as there was a great choice of many lovely things to eat! Two of the group chose starters, and after a bit of a wait, they arrived. They looked and reported to taste delicious. The serving were large, so, only order if you are really hungry! We had quite a wait for our main courses but they were worth the wait! All of the meals were well presented and again, large portions. Mine was delicious and all the others reported that theirs were tasty too. The seasonal veg were cooked to the bite which makes such a change from some being over cooked. If you have room for a dessert, there is an ample selection of hot traditional puddings through to cold desserts and ice cream. Two of us ventured to have a chocolate brownie with ice cream. Again, the portions were generous but really tasty. The ice cream portion was the biggest on the plate, which was perfect! If you want fast food then this is not for you as the serve 'good food not fast food ' which we all totally agree with!

Very polite and fast service but the food was horrendous , tiny cubes of meat in a watery bland sauce , 2 different dishes arrived and looked and tasted the exact same no time or care had been put into any of these dishes ! ended up throwing the lot away , up there with the worst Indian Iv ever had , won’t be ordering again looks like they’ve given up

This take away has not been Bangalore Spice for a long time as it closed. As The Red Onion its is by far the best Asian food takeaway in the area who also offer a delivery service. The food is outstanding and the portions do not leave you hungry. Never had a problem and thoroughly recommended.

Absolutely perfect. What a truly wonderful gem this is. Thank you so much for making an afternoon celebrating the life of my husband so completely pefrect. The buffet provided was gorgeous. All fresh and wonderful, including fish and chips, fine cheeses, sandwiches, pasta and home made scotch eggs (a favourite of my husband's) still hot and everyone said the best they'd ever tasted. Honestly couldn't have asked for more. Nothing was too much trouble. My heartfelt thanks to Rob and Toby fur everything. P.s. My overnight stay in the red room... so tastefully furnished and gorgeous.

Our first visit here after the takeover from the Tiptree Jam company. Rather disappointed. We were accommodated quickly despite a number of other tables already being reserved however why are dogs allowed inside the restaurant especially jappy dogs that don't like each other?? Really concerned that we saw one of the members of staff petting a dog and feeding it in between serving customers!!!! In the past dog lovers were served outside. One couple chose their cakes while holding their dogs in their arms right next to the cake display. I had the half size breakfast which was not hot when served. The streaky bacon was in bits and looked awful on the plate, the poached egg was over cooked and hard and it certainly was not served with sour dough bread as described on the menu. The bread was ordinary sliced granary bread! My husband had the Eggs Benedict and also had overcooked poached eggs - not the 'perfectly poached' ones promised by the menu under a bright yellow Hollandaise sauce. Clearly it is attracting customers but it will be interesting to see how it survives in the summer when the area gets really busy and the traditional passing customers do not want to pay the prices or eat this rather pretentious food. Tiptree knew their target audience. Customers certainly have to be prepared to pay high prices for very average food which is very creatively described on the menu!

0 stars if i could. As soon as my friends and I arrived, we were immediately asked to cover up, despite wearing baggy tracksuit bottoms and a small top, nothing inappropriate. The staff were unwelcoming and made us feel uncomfortable, even going as far as watching us from the window. It felt judgmental and unnecessary, especially when we were simply there to enjoy a drink and food. Definitely not the lunch we were hoping for.
