Village Tandoori in Maldon

For the third time now in two weeks we have had the most exceptional curry. The meet isn’t all cubed and tasteless like you sometimes get it’s all deliciously authentic. Good sized portions and wonderful flavour. We have had many curries over the years and the village tandoori or “Oasis” is by far the best. Extremely friendly and deliver to your door. Won’t be going anywhere else that’s for sure.

My family had a delicious dinner this evening at The Village Tandoori in Southminster. Apparently inder new management - the service was efficient and friendly and we were made to feel relaxed. We enjoyed mains and sides and as the restaurant is currently BYOB we took our own wine and beer. The evening was great value and we will certainly be going back.

the food has always been amazing for me but since the new owners took over its seems that the food is still amazing maybe even slightly better than before. the atmosphere in the restaurant is calm and welcoming and the new manager is very polite and cant do enough for his customers. i hope that the new owners do very well and turn it back into the amazing restaurant it used to be!!

I went there last weekend it’s such a shame that there service gone down and very poor and rude the food was ok but took ages to come at our table. The old waiter keeps pushing for orders more and drinks and we hadn’t finished but they constantly asked have we done or not. We asked for water but got before just got off to the restaurant. The waiter were careless and didn’t bother. Never again

We moved here 5 weeks ago and have eaten here 4 times so far and had 1 takeaway. Ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio and given house wine, tasting like crap!Tonight checked our bill for the first time. What a rip off! Charged £6 for 6 pompadoms and and sauce. Queried this and the and was totally dismissed. Customer service is was absolutely shocking! Was advised to go to Zara in Mayland but we thought we would support our local. Never again!!!!!

We ordered early on a Saturday evening delivery The delivery was made on time and the food was nice and hot We had madras curry, biryani and korma all chicken and all very tasty The onion Bhaji and samosa were good too with generous and fluffy nan breads

We moved to the village 5 years ago now and did try Village Tandoori when we first moved in and was very disappointed but pleased to say things have changed We was stumped for food the other night so decided to give it another go and glad we did. The food was very tasty, fresh and still piping hot even with it being taken away. Portions of good size and reasonable price Will glad to be going back for more

The food was great, pipping hot, staff were friendly, we would defiantly go again. i can't think of anything that was wrong. I have been a few times before and have no problem. If your wanting a delivery please bear in mind you will have to wait an hour.

Our family visit this restaurant occasionally and each time they never fail to impress. The place is nice, peaceful and it is always an enjoyable evening out. Recommended

Always had great food here, but not been for a while until Saturday after a night out at the Kings Head Pub. I don't know whether they have a new chef or what, but the food was sublime, really delicious. I'm a Brummie, born and bred, so know a thing or two about curries, and the food we had last night was up there with the best. For starters we had sheek kebab, cooked to perfection and beautifully spiced, the tandoori chicken, which was equally delicious, but the Red Snapper was to die for. Delicate, spicy and fresh. Main course we had rice and naan, which the naans were amazing, with Chicken Tikka lebabanon and another curry my Wife had which I forget the name, But they were both piping hot and fantastic, all washed down with a very reasonable Pinotage Red wine. All in all, great service, superb food, no really superb food and price was also reasonable. We have to use our local amenities and support trade, as if we don't use them, we will lose them, and the Village Tandoori, is a must visit for curry lovers.

Had an enjoyable takeaway from here. Nice, can’t complain so would call in again. Very nice food. Need to type more but nothing else to say.....

Just moved into the area and took the girlfriend here for dinner to see what it was like. Friendly, efficient staff, nice cold beer and decent chutneys with the poppadums. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Dhansak and it compared pretty well to the good ones I've previously had, it wasn't greasy, had a good rich sauce and plenty of tasty chicken in the sauce. The Garlic Naan I had with it was ok but not nearly enough garlic. My girlfriends Meat Thali was a really good size selection for the price. We'll definitely be back here again to try and more of the dishes and the chef specials.

This was the 2nd time I have visited this restaurant and once again I was impressed. This restaurant is nice and quiet and has a good atmosphere, however the pricing of the food had me ringing up Halifax to extend my overdraft just to pay the starter. We initially ordered the starter, which we were recommended by the waiter. This starter was £15 and once received it was around 6 pieces of meat, meaning it was around £2.50 per piece, it’s always nice to eat the same meat as the king and queen. We then purchased a few Cobra’s after a heavy up-sell of those, maybe the water pumps are pumping out pure Cobra? Anyways that’s not of my business. We then moved onto the main which was very nice, the food was of a good quality and the service was impressive throughout, apart from feeling slightly rushed to finish the meal as the waiter kept asking if we were done even though we still had food to eat. After this we then requested the bill, to our complete shock the bill came to £80 for just 3 people to have a group starter and a main each. Halifax obviously closed at 17:30pm that night so the overdraft request could not be processed, so this meant the credit card had to be withdrawn. Overall, the service was good and the food was great but the prices were extortionate and my next return will most likely be once I make my first million. As Skepta once said “£7,000 on a Korma that’s not me”

Four of us enjoyed a very pleasant, relaxed meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. The chickpea and the cauliflower sides were particularly nice.

Used this restaurant for the first time two weeks ago for a takeaway. Everything ready when I picked up. Had another takeaway a few days ago. All good

El Pueblo Tandoori ha estado aquí por algún tiempo, y que habla volúmenes por su coherencia. La comida es estupenda, ya sea en el restaurante o para llevar (aunque siempre es mejor comer en en mi opinión). Pollo tandoori es simplemente el mejor y el rango de curry es buena, fresca caliente y sabrosa. Mi favorito personal es Masala Gosht y ajo Chili Pollo Tikka - mmmmm! Pan y arroz también es buena. Los precios son muy razonable con una completa en curry con bebidas para dos landing en torno a 40 libras. Genial!

I was a regular here many years ago but I rediscovered it about 3 months ago and I can't fault it. The food is excellent the price is very reasonable and the service is polite and attentive.

Brilliant place to eat, esp. early evening. Very helpful staff ; prompt and efficient service. Best of all, near perfect food in the choice, the cooking, the flavour and the quality. Marvellous Tandoori Oven. And substantial helpings. Will definitely return.

Excellent food, great service, good environment, budget price... you can have a good meal with 15 to 20 pounds. Food is delicious. Authentic Indian cuisine.

Group of us booked here for a Birthday meal. On ariveing the waiter was about to show us to a table when the phone rang he left us waiting in the middle of the restaurant to answer the phone keeping us waiting to sit a good five minuets.He took our drinks order which took 15 mins to arive at the table the coke was warm and flat as was the lemonade we asked the waiter about this and he told us they don't have a fridge and was quite rude about it.We ordered popadoms for all of us which arrived at the table and they were soft and stale we returned them as did another table they brought some more out and they were the same. It took a further 30 mins for the main to come out and the restaurant was not busy the Rice was cold the chicken very dry.We wouldn't come back here if you paid us food was poor drinks warm and staff very rude.

Have used this restaurant for take out for many years. The staff are friendly, the service timely and the quality of the food is always very good.

We use the Village Tandoori for takeaways on quite a regular basis. The food is always hot, tasty and fresh. Nothing is ever too much trouble, whether you want the dishes spiced up a bit, or a combination not seen on the menu.Last night we visited the restaurant for a sit-down meal instead. The quality and taste of the food is even better. The starters were lovely, mixed kebabs, popadoms nice and fresh.I tried something different of the menu tonight, Chicken 65. It was very tasty, nice and hot, and the naan bread was some of the best I have ever tasted (and I am from Brimingham!!).All in all, a great meal, great service and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

The food in this Indian Restaurant is seriously good. We walked in on Saturday night having walked out of Zara in Mayland because of their total lack of respect. This is now our restaurant of choice for local Indian Food. So much so that we got takeaway on Sunday!

The food here is consistently excellent and authentic. The staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations. Great place!

Myself and a really good friend have now visited twice and both times the service has been personal the food has been perfect. Speed and quality are at a high level and Rashid is a lovely chat and very accommodating. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Order a takeaway at 9:55 and still waiting 00:10. Phone numerous times to be told it was on the way ( what via india) stay clear of these people.

My family and I are moving to Southminster shortly, so me and my friend came up and to have a look around and check out the surroundings.We deuces to try the village Tandoori, staff were really friendly, great service and lovely freshly prepared food. We will back back in a couple of weeks when we move in. Recommend anyone to visit this lovely little curry house

We have been using The Village Tandoori for over 15 years. I do not know why I have not shared on Trip Advisor before. In all this time the quality of the food rarely faulters. This is really good Indian Cuisine with all of the favourites on an extensive menu. We mostly have a Friday night delivery when home late from work. You can expect to wait 45-60 minutes for a delivery but it is the countryside and they do get busy so we are happy with that. The food always arrives hot and fresh. It is nice to eat in the Restaurant occasionally at the weekend. Typical old fashioned 'Indian Restaurant' interior. The staff are very friendly and watch carefully should you need anything. The owner is like an old friend now!Friday tomorrow - Guess what we'll be having for supper!?

We were staying at Steeple Bay holiday park when a very nice young man came around passing out leaflets for their restaurant in nearby Southminster. We were planning a meal out for all 6 of us as a treat for our last night so we decided to give it a try. It was very busy but I had the foresight to have pre booked, it is only a small restaurant so if you want to go at a weekend I would advise booking a table! Service was a bit hit and miss to begin with but once we were underway it improved and was staff were very attentive and polite. More importantly the food was absolutely fabulous, we had the works, poppadums and pickles, starters, main and sides all hot, freshly cooked and delicious. Non of us were disappointed with anything and we left feeling very happy and satisfied. It was also very good value considering we had meals and drinks including a bottle of wine, it worked out at £20 each, brilliant!!!!!
