The best restaurants in Downham Old Town King's Lynn and West Norfolk East of England

I go to the Norfolk Cheese Company shop almost every week for the most deluxe, delicious cheese in the whole world and the very friendly staff! Recently, they have turned a store room in the back into a cafe for people to eat things like toasties, with their amazing cheese, soups and more! I love everything about it!

Freshly cooked food, very generous portions. Friendly, helpful staff. Great atmosphere definitely worth a visit, you won't be disappointed. It's a restaurant you will want to visit reguarly. Highly recommended.

What an excellent evening celebrating our 3rd Anniversary dinner…the food, ambience and service was superb. Definitely a place to go back to.!

Average Indian takeaway. OK, we're spoiled, having travelled extensively and eaten truly excellent Indian food in India itself, and around the world, so this is your average takeaway really with an option to dine in. Convenient location in town, everyone raves about it, but it's a good old reliable I think among the locals. Can't fault it, but don't think I'd return.

Food is good. However there are too many covers for the staff to cope with, so you can be waiting almost an hour just to have your order taken, then another hour for food to arrive. End of meal takeaways had to be prepared by our own party and clearing away by the staff resulted in excess food being tipped back on our table, not by accident. The restaurant would benefit from having less tables, so that people aren’t crammed in like sardines, and so that food arrives in a timely way. The fire escape even has seating in front of it. It is a shame, as the food is pretty good. They need more staff, with more experience. They need to focus on a quality customer experience, instead of the maximum number of covers. Please, please also stop insisting on shaking everyone’s hand in the restaurant, multiple times. You are shaking hands with over 40 people, which poses a considerable health and hygiene risk to customers. Sadly we won’t be back.

Visited here with a lunch group that I run. There were 9 of us and we ordered 8 different meals which came out in good time and everyone enjoyed what they had. Good nicely presented food at a good price in a lovely location. I think this is now on our list to revisit.

Naxos is a little gem of a place on the highstreet, as others have said it’s the right balance of cosy Mediterranean with good but not overbearing service. I’ve eaten here twice, first time we had pasta and risotto and desserts and the second time we had starters and a ribeye and the Tuscan fish stew. Both times I can find no fault with the food my husband doesn’t often order steak out as it’s usually dispointing but this one was quite the opposite. My fish stew was generously full of white fish fillet, prawns, calamari, baby octopus and mussels and delicious. We will return

Excellent find! Very appealing shop front and though small, really pleasant inside. We had a warm welcome from a young lady who took our order promptly. Our flat white and tea were very good. It was our first visit to Downham Market, a pleasant small town so when we go back we will revisit The Seat.

The carvery was excellent ,the service was first class and they served gluten free gravy and Yorkshire puddings, our first time there highly recommended we will certainly be going back.

Visit for breakfast once a week. I am sure if we didn’t have half hour drive we would visit more often. The food is excellent. The place is spotlessly clean. It is very good value for money. All the staff are lovely and always happy to see you. Can’t fault it.
