This is our favourite go to restaurant in West Norfolk, great menu, superbly cooked and presented food and excellent service (every time).

Fabulous food! The Gambas a ajillo are sublime. The whole experience from cocktails to coffee was memorable. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody.

When I booked I mentioned I was gluten and dairy free, and they said they could cater for me. I had a lovely starter of Octupus, and Sea bream for my main course. Hubby who is not gf, had the tiramisu, which looked divine, unfortunatley nothing dairy free for me, or so I thought!! The chef went back into the kitchen and made me a fresh fruit salad on steroids!! In fact when it was brought out the table next to us asked what it was, because they wanted one too. So BIG thanks for that, usually fresh fruit salad is so boring.

The food was exquisite! The employees were friendly and they had brilliant recommendations. The atmosphere was lovely, we will definitely be returning.

We can highly recommend this restaurant! This really is an authentic Italian restaurant! The menu caters for all, with a good selection of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes - all carefully prepared and beautifully presented. We have visited the restaurant on several occasions and are never disappointed! The owners are so friendly and welcoming and the service is truly excellent!

The food was amazing cooked to perfection the goats cheese starter was superb and lovely atmosphere staff were excellent wine was good.If I had one complaint it would be to stop the chef from smoking outside the front of the restaurant this doesn’t look good for such a good place

Wow! What a beautiful little restaurant which is decorated so tastefully and well! We came here with friends for the first time thanks to recommendations and my goodness we were not disappointed. We ordered from the set menu but it took us all a while to choose thanks to all of the wonderful dishes on offer. The food came promptly and was served by happy, helpful and kind staff which added to the wonderful experience. Between the 4 of us, the meals we ate and would highly recommend were the mozzarella and tomato salad, the calzone, the mushroom risotto, the beef and tomato ragu and the chicken with potatoes and roasted vegetables (all from the set menu - 3 courses for £23). We then had the crime brûlée and ice cream with coffee for dessert. They were fantastic so a huge thank you and well done to the chef.Please visit this beautiful restaurant and help to keep it a success in these trying times as it, the staff, the chefs and owners thoroughly deserve it. Went in on the day to see if they had a table for the evening and they were so very helpful and squeezed us in no problem and even showed us outside in case we wished to dine there.Food was outstanding and so were the staff.Worth the visit.

Enjoyed an amazing meal at Naxos Saturday lunchtime. Sat outside in their beautiful courtyard area. Food was amazing, staff so friendly. I had the octopus followed by sea bass with gnocchi, all absolutely delicious. We all had a lovely time. Love this place.

Found Naxos by chance looking for somewhere for lunch. It was a good choice- really good food very friendly staff. Definitely worth a return visit.

We went on a Wednesday night when they do a set 3 course menu for £22. There was a very good choice of food. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely and friendly. We enjoyed it so much we have booked for next week and are taking friends with us !!

We came here spontaneously on a visit to Downham Market, and we knew we'd made a good call when we were taken out to the lovely outdoor seating area - a sweet patio area with olive trees and lights.The menu was diverse but not overwhelming, and there was something for everyone with a main focus on pasta, pizza and risotto style dishes. The food was flavourful and really good portion sizes, and the staff were really helpful.I requested an affogato for desert which was not on the menu, however they made it specially for me - thank you!

What an amazing restaurant! Everything from the atmosphere to the food is top notch and tasteful! We requested a seat outside in their little but magical garden space laid with deck, table are separated by really nice cool pergolas, you just get the feeling of a Mediterranean taverna! The mixed meat and cheese platter serves exquisite cuts of prime Italian and Spanish meat, we had seafood pasta and pasta with a sausage sauce and either were fantastic! As a main we had fish soup -simply outstanding- and a plate of filled pork fillet which was to die for. An amazing Pearl of a restaurant!

Spur of the moment to have lunch in naxos for the first time.Glad we did fabulous pizza and Mediterranean salad to share nice glass of red wine and san miguel beer perfect.While the menu is limited the courtyard setting made this a perfect lunch for two .Would come again on special occasion.

Our first time in Norfolk so we just stumbled across this restaurant and we are so glad we did. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was relaxing and the service was spot on. We were surprised with the great value for money when the bill arrived. We would definitely recommend.

Visited for the 2nd time this evening. Chose from the set menu which was fantastic value at £22 for 3 courses. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and was fully booked so nice atmosphere. Food was lovely and staff did a great job. Will hopefully return for my birthday in January - pandemic permitting.

First time here, Hummus starter then I had a vegetarian Tajine really nice ,chickpea and tomatoes and onion along with crispy potatoes Well spaces tables and staff were friendly

A lovely restaurant in Downham. Our first visit which will not be the last wasn’t expecting it to be so good the staff are very friendly and the food fantastic. Will definitely visit again.

A lovely little restaurant in Downham Market. We were lucky and managed to get a parking spot right outside the restaurant, but there are a few car parks dotted about and are just a short walk away. A warm welcome from the staff on arrival. The menu was not huge, but the choice of dishes varied so the short menu was not a problem at all. The service was very good and the staff attentive. We did not have to wait long for our food. The food itself was well presented and very, very tasty! Well done to the team at Naxos.

Had some food here Thursday for a friends birthday the service and food was really good . The Prawns in garlic and chili was a great starter huge prawns what was full of flavor .The menu was hard to choose from as the choice of dishes was phenomenal .The Sea food casserole was so delicious!!!Great wine and good welcoming staff Definitely will be visiting again .

The food here is always amazing, never had a bad meal. Home prepared, cooked and always very fresh. Lots of gluten free options, though I always mention this when booking. Lots of work has been done to convert the back garden to a really cosy dining area. Cannot believe the review from 'John A' of Ely. You don't seriously expect a restaurant to hold a table inside and outside, just in case the weather doesn't suit you? The owners cannot be responsible for the great British weather! You also say nobody else was outside, yet the date ties in with my sister and partner eating outside, on an evening which was very miserable. They came home to collect my nephew and explained a vile group who arrived, berated the owner's wife (who is very timid), left in a strop and then they later saw in the Castle Hotel. I'm sure it's not a coincidence. If only there was a 'customeradvisor' website.

We ate here last night and it was lovely!it was a spare of the moment thing after I saw an advertisement on Facebook for 3 courses for £22 on a mon/tue/weds.we had to eat a bit later than usual 8.30pm as was only tables outside beforehand but as we only called on the morning of meal we were happy with that time.my partner and I have been meaning to try the menu out for ages but never got around to it but we will definetly be going back with or without the special offer on at the moment.the food was fab,hot and tasty and service and decor was great too,will be back soon so thanks for a lovely meal!!!

My wife and I booked to go here for what we hoped would be a special meal with two friends that we had not seen for some time. When I booked I was asked if I wanted a table inside or out. I said I would like to eat outside provided the weather was ok. I thought this was the ‘safest’ option under the present circumstances and had seen on the website that’s there was apparently a pleasant outdoor courtyard.On the day for which we had booked it had been raining on and off throughout the afternoon and was raining heavily when we arrived at the restaurant in the evening. We were rather surprised to be told that there were no tables free inside and we were asked if we would like to have a look outside. The seating area outside was bleak to say the least. There was no table laid, no heating and needless to say no one else out there. There was rain dripping on to the tables. We said that we were not willing to eat outside and we were left with no other choice but to leave. We were given no explanation or apology. Given that I had booked about 2 weeks before and we had travelled 20 miles to get there we were very disappointed. Fortunately, the Castle hotel was opposite where we were given a very warm welcome and had a lovely meal which saved the evening.

Went here for dinner. Nicely set up. Staff friendly and very young waters/ waitresses especially so. Small menu but we found plenty that appealed and the food and service were just right.

Finally got around to visiting Naxos in Downham Market. We opted to sit outside in a delightfull courtyard that was decked out and had a fresh feel.We were warmly welcomed by the host and offered both an a la carte menu. and a set menu.We both opted for the set menu for £22 each. For starters we had bread and garlic mayo with olives and steamed mussels. Nice rustic and toasted bread was served with both starters.For mains we had vegetable Tajine with cous cous and Spanish chicken with vegetables. Both meals were served hot and the chicken was tender and moist.Desert we both had Tiramisu, and this was a twist on the usual tiramisu in that the sponge was surrounded by cream. Lovely and fresh feeling on the palate .Excellent meal and will definatly eat here again.

Had a lovely lunch with the girls from work. Sat in their new outdoor area and had a lovely halloumi salad , lovely white wine and Mojito cheesecake. Great service and great food. I hope the people of Downham and surrounding areas use this lovely Italian restaurant. Great for business lunches, evening get together and all around anything

We always enjoy an evening here - lovely food, delicious wine and friendly staff.In these worrying times we may not be venturing out too often for a while, so made a visit here. Happy to see compulsory hand gel for customers on arrival and menus being sanitised between users. The mid-week 3-course special (Tues/Wed) was great value and wow! the food was spectacularly good. Very generous portions, too. Service was excellent and Angelo as entertaining as ever.We were glad we went, and incredibly sad that things will be so tough for businesses like this which are just establishing themselves. We wish you all the best and truly hope we will see you on the other side of this nightmare.

We have visited this charming restaurant on a number of occasions,and once again the 4 of us had a truly delightful meal.Great unobtrusive service.Really great dishes that are different enough to keep us coming back.It really is so good to have such a nice restaurant close by.But even if it was some miles away we would make the effort to visit as it is that good.We shall be back

We thought we would try out this Italian as now local for us. Would recommend the Prawns for starter , lovely flavour and the Slow braised beef for the main . We also had the Chicken in wine , which was lovely , however we was expecting more veg and wine sauce . Only received 3 half new potatoes, 2 pieces of pepper and a piece of onion. The wine sauce was a drizzle , not enough to go with the chicken. So we thought for £18 for this main was a bit expensive. For dessert the Mojito cheesecake was well presented , however not much flavour so a bit disappointing . Also the Tiramisu was not quiet what I expected , a cream dome with a little bit of Tiramisu in the middle . Nicely presented , but to much cream on the outside and not enough Tiramisu . Our evening was not a nice relaxing evening out as we thought it would be , due to a rude loud table next to us , no consideration for other diners . I know it is not the restaurants fault, so we will try another night soon .

I have been there for a business trip and went to the restaurant. Never expected something like that in England. The food was brilliant. I would definately come back.

I poped in during my business trip and was frankly amazed by the authenticity of the food. I had as a starter delicious gambas al ajillo which tasted like during my last holidays in Granada. As main I had a Spanish style fish soup which also was amazing. Service was also always polite and gave good advice on their homemade deserts. Absolutely recommend it

Was excited to eat at the only (slightly) upmarket restaurant in Downham Market and left disappointed. Of the only 3 veg options, one was not available, and the service was poor. The food was ok, pretty basic.

Have been to this restaurant several times now and have always been hugely impressed. Last night we had the 3-course midweek set menu and for just 20 pounds I enjoyed a delicious antipasti, a super tasty pasta dish with rich flavours and a divine tiramasu. With large glasses of excellent house white and red wine for just 6.50, I seriously doubt you can find better value anywhere that this.

Popped in for a Saturday lunch time treat and were not disappointed. They unfortunately were short of staff front of house on this day, and it showed with the lack of experience from the poor lady who had to move from the kitchen to waiting, but I’ll overlook that as we all suffer unexpectedly at some point!

This is a gem of The fens. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The menu comprehensive added with a special board. The fish quality is amazing given how far from the sea. The chef ability to cook to this quality needs exploiting. Use it and don’t loose it

The restaurant is really cosy and welcoming, with a rustic look. It's lovely for a romantic but casual date night, or a small group. The food is absolutely outstanding, piping hot with perfectly balanced flavours. The Pollo a la Catalana is a particular highlight, it's delicious!

One of the problems with having your birthday in December is that restaurants get fully booked. And so, unable to get a table at places we've been to before, I booked at Naxos. And what a wonderful surprise. Really tasty food, nice atmosphere, and service which felt just right. We may not have looked terribly elegant as we licked all the sauce from our plates - but we had no intention of letting a drop go to waste.

We had a fantastic meal for two here. The food was delicious and the service was really friendly. Good choice of dishes, including some that you don’t always see on local menus. Lovely, family run restaurant in a cozy small town setting. Recommended!

If you want good quality fresh tasty food, then you have come to the right restaurant. I have been here several times now, and every time the food is bellissimo. I would say its the best thing that has come to Downham Market. Will be visiting again very soon.

Excellent restaurant with lovely atmosphere and what looked like a family business running a friendly efficient service. My wife, daughter and I all chose different dishes and all loved the high quality, authentic, freshly cooked food. I very highly recommend this restaurant.

Had an amazing meal last Thursday, we had the octopus and halloumi cheese for starters and for the main course we had chicken in parma ham and aubergines in tomato sauce. It is a must to go to if you are in Downham Market or if you are in Cambridge worth the drive. Wonderful hospitality and service.

I’ll keep the review short and sweet, Angelo knows what he’s doing with his cuisine. You can tell how fresh everything is and it really is authentic Mediterranean dishes. I’d say it’s one of if not the best restaurant within a 20 mile radius. Take your family and friends or your partner for a romantic meal, this place has it all.

Our first time visiting Naxos and we had a wonderful meal. We shared the anti-pasti platter to start and had a mixture of fish, vegetarian and meat mains on the table. Each member of the party thoroughly enjoyed their main and some even got stuck into the delightful Tiramisu. Will be returning for more!

Last minute decision to eat out and ended up sampling the Neapolitan weekend menu... it was delicious, must be the 5 or 6th time eating here and we have never failed to be impressed.

Just returned from having a excellent dinner with friends I have been to Naxos 4 times now And each time the food is excellent This time l had chicken and sausage and veg skewers with potatoes and green leaves Yummy

We dined here on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was very busy but the service was good and the meals we had were delicious. We will dine here again I think. Peroni beer is available at £5.75 a pint.

Just got back from our first visit there (went for my birthday). Chewy calamari, powdery overcooked prawns - these were my expectations. But how wrong I was - and I’m delighted that I was. We ordered mozzarella and calamari as starters and seafood linguini as mains. And every bite was delicious. The Prosecco was tasty, as was the red wine. Staff were friendly and attentive. It was a little warm in there (maybe it was the wine?) but it is hands-down the best restaurant we have found in the area. We are certainly about to become regulars!

Lovely to have a restaurant in Downham Market that isn't a pub. Would like to have seen a better vegetarian menu. Plenty for meat eaters! I paid a lot of money for a margherita pizza that I could have anywhere so a little disappointed for next. However my two friends had a wonderful meal.

Our first visit but the friends with us had been many times,and I can understand why.The food is fantastic ,very well presented and plenty of it.The menu is not too extensive but very interesting in that there is a great mix of both starters and main courses that should appeal to everyones taste.We all had different starters and mains and we all agreed that the dishes served were first class and couldnt be bettered.We all had enough room for desserts which again were really really excellent and finished off the meal in great fashion.My wife and two other friends are visiting again on the 5th of next month and after our recent meal it cant come soon enough.

Our second visit! What a great meal! Friendly service and really good food! We will definitely be going back, but won’t leave it so long next time.

What can I say..... popped in at the last minute for some lunch, was greeted by a very friendly host, who’s service was efficient, friendly and very knowledgeable of the all the dishes available. We chose to eat from the lunch menu which at £8.95 per person for 2 courses was amazing value. We had starters of Mozzarella and tomatoe and the bruschetta, followed by a risotto with wild mushrooms and a pasta puttanesca all of which was freshly made and full of flavour, my pasta was as good as I’ve eaten anywhere in the world including Italy. We will definitely return, if you’ve not been you must, small independent establishments like this are exactly what Downham needs. Keep up the amazing work guys, see you soon.

We were staying about 30 mins away, but after reading the reviews decided that we should give it a go, and boy were we pleased that we did.

We’d highly recommend this restaurant, a very enjoyable authentic Italian meal, with great service. The sausage pasta went down particularly well. Look forward to returning soon.

We visited this restaurant for my birthday and had a wonderful meal. The people who work here clearly have a passion for food and service. I had the mozzarella to start, fish stew for main and panacotta for dessert. Everything was delicious. Because it was my birthday the staff wrote a happy birthday message for me on my plate and wished me a happy birthday, which was lovely. My fiancé ordered the steak and felt it was slightly over cooked. The chef came out to personally apologise and asked if he would like another one. We really appreciated this and felt it shows how much the staff care about the customer’s experience. We will definitely be returning in the future!

Had a lovely time here on Friday with some work friends for retirement meal. Staff were very friendly and could not have done more for you. Food was lovely - none of us could fault it! It come out in good portions and was hot! Would definitely come back again!

Had huge hopes for this place after reading lots of 5* reviews and always willing to support new local businesses in our little town so decided to book a table well in advance on a Friday night to celebrate my son’s birthday. There were seven of us and the table allocated could only comfortably sit six so four of our party had to sit squashed together on one side. We ordered a mixed platter to start which supposedly included babaganoush, one of my husbands favourites, only to find this missing. There were two types of hummus though, neither apparently homemade and suspiciously similar to the local supermarket. For mains I ordered the mixed fish/shellfish stew which although pleasant was very mean with the amount of fish and the portion size for £22. Mussels and clams were tiny, my mother found the same with her seafood pasta. My son loves fish and ordered the sea bass special. Even after we removed the bone there remained very little fish and he could not eat it. Husband ordered the steak fillet special with mushrooms and new potatoes. He reports it was nice but again very small portion and poor value. When it arrived it looked tiny so I thought vegetables would be served separately but no, there they were hiding under the steak: two small new potatoes cut in half and four oyster mushrooms! Again £22 for a meal which left us feeling hungry.

Visited naxos this evening with my partner and two children. Lovely decor, The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We had the family meal; calzone pizza, vegetable pizza, ragu, pasta and a side of salad and roast potatoes and ice cream for the children. The chef was very happy to make a plain pasta for my fussy 2 year old. The food was amazing best pizzas we've ever had, the beef in the ragu was really nice too! Will most definitely be back soon! Great addition to Downham market!

I have just returned from my second visit and I’m just as impressed as the first time. Lovely meal, good service and just the kind of restaurant Downham needed. It’s just the sort of place to go for a special meal or to take a group of friends to. Be sure to book, it gets busy, and deservedly so.

Had another delicious lunch here . Drinks choice has been expanded which is great ,shows they are listening to clients . Lovely food , authentic and tasty every time .

Lovely set up, excellent food, the menu was interesting and varied, a good selection of dishes. The service was prompt and friendly, really liked the fact that the chef came to the table to ask if we were happy with our food. We thought our meal was worth every penny and we will definitely be going back.

Just returned from a lovely meal at Naxos in Downham Market. What a gem, a few rough edges to smooth out, had to ask for more bread and for parmesan, but service was great, nothing too much trouble and the food was amazing, great wine and a wonderful atmosphere we will definitely be back.

Me and my partner booking table online like we do anywhere that we had done before so we told to turn up as our time we did when we arrived they were a bet concert as they haven’t got me down so one of the girl there told me to wait she will asked the owner then she came back told us off next time book table by phone better anyway they put us the table next to till like this our fault not to book by phone at that time we were piss off annoying well I told myself ok let try foods and drink so I try house wine it was awful I had been a lot of place housewife not too bad but this one it one anyway we order foods that was test sooo good we can knock that at all.anyway if you book do not book by email you guy better call

We popped there for lunch from the set menu and it was lovely. The tomato soup was fresh and was clearly home made. We had the pasta and the mushroom risotto for mains and it too was delicious. Prices are reasonable and the service is great too.

Popped in for lunch, nice little place, sevice was not slow. Ordered a pizza with chilli, peppers and pepperoni. When it arived it was thick with cheese and had no chilli with it, i asked if i could have chillis and was told they dont have any, the staff didnt even realise that it come with chilli. To be fair, i would of ordered something else if they had told me that the chilli pizza will be without chilli's. Still charged me full price though. Also the management should explain to the waiting staff what is on the specials board as the writing was so bad that they couldnt even explain to me what was on the specials. No faults with the waiting staff as they worked very hard. I wont be going back. Sorry

My daughter and I dropped in on the off chance we would be able to eat. Although the diary looked pretty full we were found a table with an hour and a half available before the next customers. I had a wonderful seafood pasta with a perfect and tasty sauce, my daughter has mushroom risotto which was very tasty too and we shared a Mediterranean salad. The presentation of the dishes was really good and the décor very attractive. I will definitely be visiting again and will try the lunch menu too.

We visited on a Saturday & had a good evening & enjoyed the food. The menu has plenty of choice, not too extensive, & food appears to be cooked to order.which is great. The restaurant was very busy & had a lovely atmosphere. My only criticism, having been shown to our table, we were ignored for about 20 minutes, until we got the attention of a waiter & requested menus.Thatt the tables are small, fitting 2 sharing platters on a table for four was quite a challenge ! & the tables are too close together, making serving very difficult,. This restaurant is a very welcome addition to the Downham Market food scene. Thank you

My partner and I went for our anniversary meal and had the best evening. The food was absolutely delicious - the caprese, whilst simple, tasted anything but! The portion sizes were spot on and the food was incredible! Would recommend to anyone. The service was wonderful - attentive without being overbearing and so polite and accommodating. It was an impulse lunchtime visit as the Indian restaurant we'd planned to visit was shut. We only ordered three pizzas and could find no fault at all. Service was attentive and friendly, the food was delicious, and the restaurant was spotless.
