The Heron Public House in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

First Sunday lunch at the Heron and it definitely won’t be the last! Absolutely beautiful and lots of it, everything was cooked to perfection. I had the roast sirloin and my hubby had the Turkey. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

On an adventure with my boat, bro-in law and 2 dogs we ended up on the moorings of The Heron (Saturday 21st Sept) on the advice of some other boaters. Absolutely brills pub. Enthusiastic and friendly staff, fantastic food, great atmosphere, very dog friendly in the bar, very attractive surroundings including the garden. I had trouble eating my chicken and ribs at the start as the large plate was so groaningly full I had to begin delicately to make some space before I could really get to work :-) . Delicious. Had breakfast there the next morning:- quality, especially the thick bacon and hearty sausage. This place is a cut above and I would heartily recommend it.

Called at The Heron for lunch while travelling. Food was great and the specials menu was excellent. We both had the “sizzler plates” and they were really tasty and good value. Great staff, decor and surroundings. At 2pm on Saturday was really busy with food, which speaks for itself. Definitely worth a visit.

Not terrible but certainly a poor experience. Left disappointed. Food quality is not what it was. Management are huffy when food orders are brought out wrongly. Stand at your table like you have made the error and make you feel quite uncomfortable. We are not going to accept food that we did not order. On finishing our meals, we approached the bar to ask for the manager to explain why she had dealt with the matter in the way that she had. We were told that she had left the building by two very nice staff members. So...to the keyboard it is! There are plenty of other places around to eat. Go there. Hospitality is not The Heron's strong point and neither, in our opinion, is their food.

Lovely restaurant and the staff are very friendly. We all had the Sunday Roast and it was delicious though somewhat expensive for the portion size. And if youre going to offer gluten free options, you should be making gluten free stuffing and cauliflower cheese as you charge the same price as the large roast dinner. Hardly seems fair if they are getting two extra items for the same price as me. Appreciate the gluten free Yorkshire pudding and gravy though. But if youre going to charge £18 for a large roast make sure the gluten free one is the same as the non gluten free one.

Ordered our food, starters and main came out at the same time . Staff did not seem bothered food was cold by the time eat it... Said manager knew, poor service we spent over £100...shocking

Liked the location so called in on off chance. What made a 5 star review to me was the brilliant service from one individual. He put us at our ease, organized our requests and took care of our minor issues. The meal was beautifully cooked, fresh and interesting. Would be keen to try the rest of the menu. Afterwards, walked down to the river, so peaceful. So beautiful. Stowbridge also has a fantast country store beats with clothing and all you could need for animals and birds, also a veg shop with squeaky fresh veg and a true local butchers where they can tell you where all the meat comes from. Their home made pies are wonderful for winter and the range of bbq food is both local meat.home made and delicious.

We booked The Heron for Mothers Day. Can't recommend highly enough. Excellent service and superb food. Best Sunday roast I have had in years. Great value for money. We will be going back very soon.

Everything was excellent, very busy, spoilt a little at the end after we had paid. By a waitress telling us"we do have anouther party coming if you could leave now:, no apology no thank you, turse and rude, especially seeing as my mother-in-law is disabled through age and I had asked for the bill 15 minutes earlier and was ignored, and had to ask again. If they were so desperate for the table, you would of thought they would get me the bill when first asked for.

Best Sunday Lunch. Excellent service, super hosts and fantastic food. Visit frequently to this lovely venue and never disappoints.

Visited on the 4th Feb with family excellent lunch as always. We are frequent visitors here and have just booked to go back today! One of our favourite places to visit. It’s lovely in the summer too when you can sit outside. The food is always perfect not had a bad meal here

Very disappointed with Sunday dinner burnt uneatable roast potatoes burnt parsnips and dinner was nearly cold staff couldn't care less when told the answer was well it's always like this what an attitude to have !!!

We left a message in the afternoon asking if we could book a table for that evening. A cheerful lady phoned us back promptly and booked us in for 6.30pm despite the fact they had some larger Christmas Parties that evening. I had the 10oz haddock, chips & peas and a pint of Doom Bar. My Wife had the Sea bream and a small bottle of Prosecco. The food was really good and not over priced. The service was friendly and efficient. If we are in that neck of the woods again we would certainly return. Thank you.

I stayed behind the Heron in my motorhome on the coldest night of the year (so far!). The warm lights of the pub beckoned and I couldn't resist popping in for dinner. FOOD I ordered the Haddock and chips and opted for the large portion. My word it is large! All washed down with a pint of Neck Oil. Yum. ACCOMMODATION This is my second time of visiting in my motorhome, it is an excellent stop off with all facilities (including a pub if you do not want to cook!) and what a view to wake up to.

Really is a lovely place ..about 35 mins from us so not that far on a Sunday..Sunday lunch is really nice ..We went in the restaurant this time as we are not really doggie people..dogs in the pub area ..So clean even the toilets have great sparkling mirrors..We really enjoy it in there .. staff are lovely great afternoon out..Don't think its expensive get alot of food for your money ..worth a trip

Just enjoyed a tasty Sunday roast at The Heron. Good value, quality and attentive service. They managed to squeeze us in at short notice even though the pub was very busy. I would recommend and would visit again.

A great spot by the Relief Channel. We moored and popped in for an evening drink. Bubbly atmosphere and a superb menu to try on our next visit. We had to leave the next day but the pub had laid on a party for the next evening. So we were tempted to stay. Lots of awards on the walls, so we will be going back.

Visited this excellent pub/restaurant whilst travelling and would thoroughly recommend it. The staff were friendly and professional at all times and added to the experience. Good choices on the menu, with daily specials too. Several Gluten Free options here which was helpful for our party. Huge Gin menu as well as several beers and wines.

What an amazing night at the Heron, we met up with friends who we have not seen for years. On arrival served by their wonderful staff and shown to our table. We ordered a variety of mains which were so good and tasty, plates empty. Desserts to end the meal, and drinks we enjoyed throughout. Staff looked after us so well such a great place to visit and enjoy the menu from snacks to mains. Thank you for a lovely night, see you again very soon 😁

We had high hopes for dinner this evening! Harvest stalled so an opportunity for dinner out and to catch up with each other. I had lasagne which was delicious my husband had rib eye steak and all the trimmings, it was terrible….more like a piece of frying steak…..inedible despite a valiant effort! We said to one of the waitresses it wasn’t very nice and certainly not rib eye…..she said she’d mention it to the chef! She never came back to us, we went to pay the bill and we had to ask what the chef said……..”it must just be a bed one in the batch and he’d talk to the butcher” no apology…….or acknowledgement to us. We took the left over steak home for our dogs supper……it wasn’t fit for anything else. The young waitress with dark hair was really lovely! The landlady was at the bar with another couple gossiping loudly……unbeknownst to them about people we know! A very uncomfortable experience. It’s a definite NO from us. The issue with the steak is one of those things but the gossiping unacceptable and unprofessional. Some lessons to be learnt here……

Well worth a visit! Best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time. Roast Beef, roast potatoes, mash, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, honey roast parsnips and veg. Cauliflower cheese as an extra is a must! Crème brûlée is exceptional! Thank you for a lovely afternoon!

The Heron in Stowbridge is a beautiful pub which is set in a supeb location with fabulous outdoor seating and views. The pub is tastefully decorated extremely clean and staff are polite and presentable. I'm sorry to say our visit on this occasion wasn't great....

We have visited The Heron twice recently and have thoroughly enjoyed it both times. They serve really great home cooked pub meals. There is a warm atmosphere and staff are friendly and helpful. Hope to return soon.
