The best restaurants in Great Yarmouth East of England

I was staying in the area and had lunch here four times. The experience in terms of service and food was variable. With regards to service, there is an older waitress who needs more training and does not know the menu very well. She seemed very unsure of herself and had trouble recording our order, having to repeat ourselves several times. Answers to our reasonably basic questions about the menu were "I think so..." and that did not fill us with much confidence. The younger waitresses were very good, attentive and friendly - so something must be going well in terms of staff training. We were also given warm tap water with no ice on a hot, summer day. This was partly due to the high price of drinks - £3.10 for canned drinks and £5.75+ for a milkshake. The surf and turf burger was really good - I would recommend this, as the crayfish, pawns and burger were lovely with the sauce. This was consistently good. The gammon, egg, chips and peas was also yummy and good value. The meat was well-cooked, as were the chips. The haddock was really nice on one occasion, with light and crispy batter. But on another occasion the batter was hard and overcooked, accompanied by cold chips and peas.

We went to Princes as we have done for over 15 years. On arrival they weren’t very busy but was told the wait would be 20/25 mins. After 45 mins I was told it’s just coming, after an hour I chased again and was told it was just coming it would be 5 mins. The order was for a burger and chips and 2 ham and cheese toasties. A nice man who was clearing the tables gave me my money back but not all of it, he took the money back and didn’t return. I then went in and was met by the same person who said it the food would ve 20/25 mins and gave me my full refund and not even a sorry just a filthy look, I asked is that a sorry. I received not reply. I was polite through out, and even though only on Gt Yarmouth for the day for the @wheels festival to wait over an hour to get nothing is a big chunk of the day. Poor customer service, poor communication and the lady who had food on the next table left it and said it was awful. For years I have been a loyal customer, and this is how you are treated. I won’t be back!

Sorry was the worst lasagna I have ever tasted. Said it was beef but certainly didn't taste like it was.

First time take away from here and would not order again. Meat not tender ( chicken) the batter not crispy. Did not like the rice either. Sorry not my kind to be complain normally but the Chinese take away we use normally in Mundesley or Bacton so so much better quality.

This is the second time I've been and the guy was extremely difficult and overly lazy on both occasions. I wanted a doner wrap but for the walk and so he didn't have to deliver I wanted everything in separate pots etc and happy to pay extra. He wouldnt do it and said because he didn't want to. We are residents of Hemsby and the charge is the same as if in London. Not helpful, didn't appreciate his customer in the depths of winter. I will not be returning. Such an idiot in harsh times for custom. I will go elsewhere in future.

Unacceptable. Had a booking for between Christmas and New Year (booked for months) and cancelled on us with 5 days notice. Good luck to us finding somewhere else last minute this time of year!!

Wanted to find a Greek restaurant nearer to home. Restaurant looks grubby but you can’t judge a book by its cover. Wish we had. Tiny, over priced portions of not very nice food. Will stick with the Olive Garden in future, worth the extra travelling and never disappoints.

Very over priced compared to a local bakery wasn't told some of the things I had bought were vegan until paid for . The custard apple crumble tart was bland tasteless and really hard . I actually binned it after a few mouthfuls. Really disappointed as I paid 19 pounds for a few items won't go back again

Just ate with my wife and her dad and his wife. The food was absolutely fantastic, we came for breakfast which is reasonably priced uses good quality ingredients and wasn’t greasy at all. One of the best cooked breakfasts I’ve had and certainly the best in the area.

We visited for dinner after a day out. The staff were all lovely and very attentive. The food was a nice treat. Thank you all

We visited last weekend on a day trip to Great Yarmouth and these doughnuts were the best we've had!

Had lovely food well worth the money delivered on time and food was hot delivered to our camp site so was a bonus absolutely loved the food

They have messed it up too small and full of children at tea time like a small youth club.

Food was absolutely awful come cold and greasy as hell will not be ordering from here again. Waste of money.

Nice meal deal just missing drink, I should've checked bag... Cannot reach by return email. Phone was busy... Shame really.
