My family & I visited The Black Horse for Sunday Lunch as part of a birthday gift. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table, which was tucked away to the immediate left of the entrance in a cosy area. I had the Spiced Beetroot, Red Lentil & Vegan Feta Crispy Rolls as a main course, which was extremely flavourful. I'm glad I chose this, as the only main course option was a nut roast (often the get-out-clause of an inexperienced chef), however after sampling my choice, this was definitely not the case. There were only a couple of minor negatives. The first was the overuse of something resembling micro-cress. There was a huge amount of it on my plate and it was also used in a dessert that one of my family members had. Micro-cress on an apple tart dessert? The other minor negative was that I ordered seasonal veg as a side option. At £5, I wasn't expecting some unseasoned kale and cabbage. Overall, I'd recommend the restaurant as the charm and quality of food is top notch.

We shared a starter which was fresh, delicious and big ! We then had two mains. Hot, freshly cooked, tasty and very good portions. Soft drinks as well. Excellent value for money. A beautiful, quaint village pub which is charming & relaxing. Very friendly staff and definitely worth a visit.

We had Andy’s funeral wake at the barn here. It all went so well & the staff /food/ setting was really lovely. Louise & Katy were so helpful & made the day stress free & seamless. Thank you for everyone who helped to make a very sad situation .. pleasant & relaxed.

Sunday Lunch Nice ambience but service was slow - very slow - the meal most of us had the roast beef and to say the least it was as tough as old boots the accompaning veg were ok . Why people persist in piling food on top of each other is a mystery to me as you spend the first few minuts deconstructing it . None of us said anything because we didnt want to spoil a family event but having learned that everyones disappointment was the same as ours we really should have complained . To finish it off one of the group had icecream and it came out as two dolops in a beer mug not tendy and difinitly not appealing . I've been there before for a weekday evening mean and it was fine again slow service but the staff are young and inexperienced so everyone has to learn so dont really mind and the food was ok but I do not recommend the Crown for a Sunday Roast

We booked afternoon tea for four about a week in advance, this was dealt with by the event organiser who couldn't have been more helpful, When we arrived the staff were waiting for us and conducted us to the old library where a single table was prepared for us. We had expected to be in the restaurant and to have a private room was a real treat. Our party included a vegetarian and a gluten intolerant guest. The Chef had prepared separate plates of sandwiches for these two as well as a seperate stand of glutent free cakes. There was a good variety of sandwiches which were obviously freshly prepared and well presented, the cakes and sweets were varied and excellent. The service was A1 and unobtrusive, fresh tea being brought in on request. We all really ate too much, but the food was so nice we just had to clear the plates :-) A very special afternoon for us and we shall return. We do enjoy an afternoon tea when we can ~ our overall service experience here was far better then at Woburn, much quieter and personal than that at Frosts at Willington and better service and fresher food than the at the Swan in Bedford,

Had afternoon tea with 3 good friends. I’m Coeliac so need gluten free - that was noted when the booking was made. The table was dressed beautifully with ‘old fashioned’ china. Seating is comfortable. The aftn tea arrived on attractive cake stands. Mine was slightly different as I’d requested gluten free. The selection of food was amazing! Mini Prawn cocktails, well filled sandwiches on tasty bread. Coronation wraps. An excellent cake selection. The warm fruit scones were delicious - including my gluten free one & very friendly staff. My first visit to The Guinea in Moggerhanger & it won’t be the last!

Enjoyed a walk around the woodland with our dog. Popped in for a light snack lunch. Run by volunteers, a friendly community atmosphere, welcoming everyone including dogs. Simple menu with inviting cakes. Good coffee and proper pot of tea. Lovely outlook across the orchard and quiet.
