First time visit today great service great food will be back again

Beautiful surroundings, great food and friendly service. We return again and again to this lovely country pub.

Yet another enjoyable visit to these premises. Ideal location for eating 'Al fresco' weather permitting; although plenty of room inside. Food exceptional as ever, along with the service. Definitely worth a visit, you won't be disappointed. Thank you again to all concerned.

Sign says no service at the bar. Took a seat. 20 minutes later. Nothing. All very odd. Surely serving at the bar would be quicker

Amazing Ribeye steak. definitely recommend. the staff are friendly amd helpful too. The fireplaces and decor give the pub a warm and relaxed ambience. [edit] a year later and they still do great steaks.

I can’t recommend The White Horse highly enough for a celebration of any kind. We recently celebrated our ruby wedding anniversary at The Barn during the day and later in the conservatory with 60 of our family and friends. Everyone absolutely had the best time! The venue, the food, the service, the beautiful countryside, the technical support for a band playing and speeches was absolutely amazing. The food and drink were exceptionally good value for money and there was an excellent choice of menu and lots of options for people with dietary requirements.It was also, importantly, of amazingly high quality and so many of the guests commented on it. Dogs are welcome and there is a big garden for them to walk in and for children to run around and play in. Louise was so responsive to all of our queries and all of the staff on the day were fantastic. Absolutely brilliant. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Would definitely book again!

Wanted to book my wedding there, after trying my hardest to get some information and dates they never got back, so went in and booked a provisional date with the manager with the promise of the wedding planner getting back to me and start arranging details. Never got that promise and decided that if they can afford to lose a 10k plus wedding they must be doing ok, I would avoid at all cost and if I get married again I wouldn't give them the time of day

We recently had lunch there. Location lovely, food was fine but service gets zero. We had a bloke serve us, fair colouring with bad attitude and rude. So we won't be going back there. I think you need to get your priorities right because you are losing customers. Shame really

Service was absolutely abysmal. I can only assume there was no manager on duty as the chaps working were very unprofessional. Did not care about taking orders, did not give accurate information when taking an order, would rather chat around the bar and ignore customers. First time visiting so may possibly be a completely different business and service but unfortunately that is not what I will remember and therefore would not recommend or revisit.

Great place to eat inside and outside, however the Peroni was given to us in an ale glass and was flat, the next beer we ordered we asked for it in a Peroni glass. The beer was flat, considering the price is the most expensive at £6.30 a pint, we have found locally, you would expect your pint to be lively. We asked the waitress and she kindly took the beer back the management then sent it straight back to us and said that’s how it comes. Not great beer 🍺 waitresses were great, management poor… sort it out white horse

Visited here for a coffee and snack mid afternoon. Lovely pub with a cozy old English pub feel set in the middle of the countryside. The rest of the menu looked really good, so we will be back to try a lunch soon!

Amazing food and service, food was fresh and good quality for price. Bar staff were attentive and even chatted to us on their break. Pub was quiet, but with a few people it had a lovely country feel.

Very disappointed. We have been here for lunch quite a few times over the last six months. We don't go out to eat often, only 1-2 a month. I was really looking forward to going again today as there chips have been amazing every time previously. When my starter of brie bites arrived, it was cold and overcooked- so much so that all the brie had disappeared. They did Sent another one out which was much better. I ordered the beef, bacon and cheese burger which was delicious, but not hot.the chips were really over cooked- they had obviously been left under a heat lamp as they were really crunchy and dry. disappointed, We won't go back here again unfortunately. Maybe it was just a bad day for the chefs.

Visited here recently, it was very busy when we arrived but thankfully the couple we were meeting had already booked a table, the food was nice and there is quite alot of choice on the menu, though they had run out of quite a few things. By 8 o'clock the pub was virtually empty and me and my friend felt as if the staff couldn't wait for us to leave, felt really uncomfortable. Won't be going back in a hurry, shame.

Food was very good but service was really poor. Male waiting Staff were rude and unattentative. Service was really slow, felt like we were inconveniencing staff. Shame as used to be a very good reliable option. Also paper menus were stained and was rather quiet. Food was great but didn't match the environment.

We were invited to a Christmas event, so it isn't a place we'd usually go to, and we had to pre-order. The food was good. The waiting staff were okay but not over-friendly. The pub appeared to have a cosy atmosphere. We may return to see what it's like and to choose a meal that's not off the festive menu.

I had a lovely dinner at The White Horse, our waitress was Kirsty and she was very friendly, lovely atmosphere in this pub. We both had the chicken burger and a side of Mac and cheese to share. Great food, great service, great night. I will be definitely be coming back.

My wife and I enjoyed our Sunday lunch yesterday. We had returned after having decided some months ago that standards had slipped too far regarding the food offerings, but found things were vastly improved this time. I’m guessing there have been positive staff changes in critical areas since our last visit. The quality of the beef and lamb dinners was very good, albeit not the largest servings (not having paid for additional sides). I’d probably have had coffee after the meal, but the waitress cleared the plates and was gone without asking… Overall, a very pleasant and encouraging experience.

The Sunday dinner needs refining, or maybe because we had it just before kitchen was closing we got dry left overs. Even the little dish with horseradish had skin on it. This it how long it was standing there. The road to overflow car park needs repair very badly.

I really wanted to give this place a 5 star rating as I’ve been waiting to go here for years and never been able to go there due to the timings for us, but finally the big day arrived and we could make it, my wife got us a table there for my birthday meal with the kids; We got there and got asked to sit at a different table whilst they got a better table ready for us as we required a highchair which was no problem as the highchair needed to be out of the way for others to get past, we got put right in the corner out of the way again this seemed ideal for us as again with all the kids and one being in a highchair it made sense, we had a lovely man deal with us when we got there extremely nice and helpful, young with glasses I think an assistant manager, but his shift was ending, when he went it was like we was forgotten in the corner, luckily he took our order before he left, we got our food my son got a cheese and bacon burger the bottom of the bun was paper think and falling apart, all of our lamb was over cooked, the rest of the food was lovely. We ended sitting and waiting for our table to be cleared and to order our dessert for 15 mins I had to shout someone to come and clear it after my wife was about to take it all to the bar all the desserts were amazing also, but the fact we just got forgotten about for so long as lost them a star from us. We will return as it was very nice.

Wasn't asked by staff if enjoying meal and found ploughman's very bland and tasteless and way overpriced

Gastro pub and yet the food was at best basic! Found a pile of ground rock salt on my plate underneath the chips so ended up inadvertently seasoning them again! Anyone on a low sodium diet would have rejected the plate. Chips were dry and overcooked, and not hand cut (pretty sure a gastro pub could make their own chips). No salad and tiny portion of peas. Had pre-ordered the meal using the website as part of a group, turns out the menu was out of date! Absolutely overpriced for the quality of the food. Service and atmosphere were very pleasant. No idea about the toilets as was too busy making a hasty exit after the shock of the bill.

Where to even begin... We booked the white horse as our wedding venue around a year ago now and ever since our wedding day 2 weeks ago we have been inundated with messages about how incredible our wedding venue was. Our initial consultation with Louise and Christie made us feel confident that they could deliver a wedding that had a large amount of guests, we ran through various package options and tweaked our chosen package to make it feel more personal and bespoke to us. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel welcome to ask whatever we wanted, we have been regular customers at the white horse for a long time so we knew the food, drink and service would be at a high standard as it always is. They were proficient in recommending suppliers and helping us communicate with them to get exactly what we wanted. The weeks before the wedding we felt confident and comfortable that everything was in hand and had regular meetings / conversations with a number of the staff members specifically Luke, Christie, Tom, Kieran and others (sorry i'm rubbish with names) they were all so patient and so understanding with all of our requests the staff really are the heartbeat of this pub and a testament to what the white horse offers week in and week out. On our wedding day we arrived later after having some photos taken, but were blown away when we arrived by how the stables looked, the team had gone above and beyond to create a space that really reflected us as a couple. The head chef is very talented and extremely hard working, he provided a 3 course meal for over 70 guests and i'm not joking when I say there wasn't a single plate with any food left, all of our guests loved the food and commented on how lovely each course was. All of this again wouldn't have been possible without the incredible staff who made each course run smoothly without a glitch. 2 weeks later and here we are, we just can't stop reminiscing on how much of an incredible day it was, from the venue to the staff and everything in between we really can't thank the entire team at the white horse enough. You gave us a day we will truly cherish for the rest of our lives and for that we will always be so grateful and supportive of the pub for many years to come! So if you're unsure of a wedding venue for your wedding, I urge you to go along and speak with the team you won't regret it! A million thanks again, Mr and Mrs Philpott!

The food tasted nice and seemed freshly prepared and cooked. The staff were very attentive to our needs the only downside was all the doors and windows were open so we found it hard to eat somewhere warm. We were wearing our jumpers as it wasn't the warmest summer so can't blame them for that. Would definitely recommend this pub even just for a drink!

Booked table for 1.45pm ordered immediately finaly got our dinners at 3.05 after asking where was it at 2.50 pm Just a roast however Yorkshire pudding overcooked and hard, kale barely cooked Dessert was delivered in an interesting style Young man brought 2 then searched for spoons on other tables but where were the other 2 deserts?? ..I had to ask again The cheesecake topping of fruit was out of the freezer yuk!! it is summer fresh would have been better !!! The staff were very pleasant although they were keeping busy wiping tables etc perhaps more training is required Our original server should have realised the meal hadn't arrived Simply not good enough !! Shame really 😕

We had Sunday lunch with family in this delightful pub. Food was delicious, hot and served by very friendly staff. A relaxed atmosphere and lovely beer garden. Megan was lovely, attentive and very efficient. We look forward to visiting again.

Sorry to say we were very disappointed at the standard of the food. It has been a few years since we've been but the food was nowhere near what you would expect. I ordered a drink with no ice, got ice. Not the end of the world. Ordered a bacon and cheeseburger for a 9 year old. Was asked if we wanted it from the children's menu which we said yes to. Only when it arrived it was a miserable looking plain burger in a bun. Neglected to mention that it wasnt going to come without cheese or bacon! We asked for cheese at least and they did add a slice of cold cheese on top. We ordered additional garlic bread which was forgotten and we had to ask for it. My roast lamb was so overcooked that I could bareley get the knife through it. The potatoes were partly raw in the middle as were the.parsnips. they did offer to replace the meal but to be honest I didn't see other plates looking much more appetising so I politely declined and asked them to take it off the bill, which they did. It used to be such a lovely pub with nice food. Maybe it was an off day but I won't be back.

A lovely sunny, family day out. Wonderful pub, absolutely marvellous food, great service, polite and friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed and definitely recommend.

I ordered seafood linguine. It was my birthday and anniversary on Tuesday 8th August so we chose this venue because previous visits(pre covid) were good. It wasn't busy that early evening. My choice arrived, a bowl of pasta submerged in a soup of some very spicy liquid. I queried it asking if a mistake had been made! The server assured me it was so I accepted it a bit reluctantly because it looked very unappetising. The bowl was full to brimming and was so hot(temperature) that I couldn't touch it. Eventually I was able to taste it, pasta, that is the only ingredient immediately visible. It was very spicy, not mentioned on the menu. I eventually found about 3 pieces of prawn hidden in the heap of pasta and also two or three small pieces of chorizo sausage! It was disgusting. This is the worst looking and tasting "meal" I have ever been served in a very long lifetime. I can't believe a qualified chef put this together! I complained. The person who I complained to was very apologetic and said he would remove it from the bill. Thanks for that but no compensation for ruining our dining experience. I notice now that this item is no longer on the menu! It was awful,disgusting and unbelievable that any restaurant would think it acceptable to serve it.

Foods were average pub standard! On a sunny day can be a good place for a few drinks. The pub is in a nice location with plenty of parking.

For a change we ate at the White Horse Southill. Ordered 2 drinks, Guinness and Gin & Tonic. 2 Mains: Salmon and (Veg) Thai Curry. NB: I thought it was a Chicken Thai Curry. 1. No lemon in the G&T 2. Salmon was served with New Potatoes, a Red Puree and a type of Salsa. Salmon and potatoes cooked well but not enough sauce. 3. Veg Thai: Veg consisted of Bean Sprouts, a few Green Beans, Pak Choi, Onions. Basmati Rice. The sauce was a semi-clear gloop tasting of nothing, it had heat but no flavour of Thai Spices. On presenting the Veg Thai, I asked what vegtables had been used in the curry. Response was: I can ask. The Pak Choi had long lost any of it's freshness, soggy. A sparse sprinkle of Bean Sprouts, a few Green Beans and some Chopped Onions looking very much like the Pak Choi! From experience Green Thai is called Green Thai not because it has green Veg in it. It is the Green Thai Paste used with Coconut Milk that makes up the main flavouring of the sauce. Lime Leaves, Lemon Grass, Coconut Milk, Green Thai Chilli. The sauce was a semi-misty gloop tasting of nothing. The sparse veg listed above had dissolved into this soup. The rice should have been Jasmine Rice and beautifully sticky. Unfortunately Basmati Rice was used. On being presented the bowl of food I told the waitress I thought it was a Chicken Thai I had ordered.(My mistake) I accepted it was veg curry but where was the veg? Baby Sweetcorn? Mange Tout? Broccoli? Peppers? Maybe Butternut Squash? Or some Sweet Potato? All were abscent. She responded and said, a lot of people have said that. I asked if the kichen could maybe add some chicken to the dish as I am 6ft and a big lad. The waitress was really nice and returned with the bowl. But all they had done was stick some grilled dry/stringy chicken into the soup. I won't carry on, as it is undeniably the worse Veg Dish I have ever encountered. Sorry but The Chef clearly has no idea of how to cook Thai Food. The waitress was pleasant and I didn't cause any fuss. It was food! I ate half and left, having paid prior. I have looked at other reviews and the Veg Thai Curry has had similiar responses. Personally I won't be eating there again and would recommend the "Black Horse" in Ireland just up the road. The pub is in a nice spot and could be a really good eatery. Plenty of garden area. Such a shame. Regards Simon.

Good mid week meal for a family birthday. Food was good and came in a reasonable time.

A lovely traditional pub hidden in the countryside away from the normal crowds (however they do host weddings and other events sometimes which can make it quite busy). We love stopping in for a drink during a bike ride around the area. It is just an idyllic place and I hope it always remains.

Previously l have enjoyed many meals here , but...recently we were given the worst meal l have ever had. It was so bad we couldn't eat it, although hungry. We both ordered a Thai vegetable curry, having enjoyed one before elsewhere. The plate was full of liquid with 3 pieces of pac choi only floating in the liquid. The taste was just far too spicy, not fragrant as Thai food is. The rice was nice!!! We were offered a reduction in the bill but, will not return. My thought is that the chef did not know how to cook this dish. I regret not taking a photo of the "dish".

A big let down, booked in advance for 9 people, sharing nachos for starters arrived with main course, after a very long wait . Simple request change steak with chips veg for, Steak and Salad, confirmed no problem, got steak and chips. Had heard amazing reviews,just a real pity as it's a lovely place great setting.

I visited the pub recently with my cycling group we had an evening meal. The food was excellent and great value for money. The service was amazing bearing in mind the size of the pub with a garden and an covered extension to the side of the building. Only two people were on duty front of house, Holly and Christi. They worked with amazing speed and efficiency, but this did not impinge on there pleasant attitude to wards our group. We sat in amazement watching these two ladies striding effortlessly across the pub serving food and drinks. Doug and six other cyclists 7 June

Very nice village pub. Calm atmosphere, we did go on a week night. We were a large group arriving at different times and they were really accommodating. Good choice on the menu and understood and handled dietary requirements well.

We had a late afternoon light lunch of chicken wraps. Reasonably priced and a good portion!

Arrived for booking Sunday 4.30pm but got there at 4p.m and told the manager we had arrived, table dirty, we were all seated when it was cleaned by server reaching over our shoulders. Two plates out of 6 served, no cutlery, I asked for cutlery, two more plates served still no cutlery, last two plates served, food 'warm', then went to get cutlery, by time the cutlery eventually arrived food was far from hot. My two vegetarian friends had a pastry dish, the pastry clearly microwaved so not crisp. We were told this was the last seating when I booked and although we'd finished our meal fast when I asked for the desert menu I was told by the Manager 'kitchen closed'. no apology whatsoever. Within a few minutes the pub was empty, like the Marie Celeste. Manager told us as he started taking everything off the tables, he was so very happy when he first went to work there and was told he's be going home by 6pm on Sundays. That's not what a customer wants to hear, in other words glad to get rid of customers! Food ok, service very patchy, clear they all wanted to go home. No one to leave a tip to as all servers gone, but probably wouldn't have anyway. VERY disappointing as I had booked for friends, my idea to go to a pub in the Country and felt very embarrassed that my friends all in their 70s only 1.1/2 hrs after being seated saw everyone had gone home, no desert and not asked once if our food was ok. Very average food, luke warm, poor patchy service and disappointing to feel unwelcome a hour and half after arriving.

Had the absolute pleasure of having my wedding reception in The Stables at the White Horse. Throughout the planning process Louise and Christie were amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better team to work with for the whole thing. The day was completely tailored to how I wanted it and I couldn't be more thankful. Nothing was too much trouble or not possible. They catered for 65 people and every single last meal was perfect. The team who worked tirelessly on the day behind the bar and waiting on the tables were amazing. The team are a real credit to Louise and Christie. Couldn't fault the experience at all and will of course be regularly coming back!! I'd recommend The Stables and The White Horse to absolutely anyone looking to plan an event!! Just tried the new SUMMER menu and was very impressed ! We had the Haddock & chips and Salmon Fillet which was especially tasty !! Attended by the newly appointed supervisor who is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Just had a fabulous lamb roast dinner. Perfectly cooked, delicious roasties and cauli cheese, fabulous service by all the friendly staff, delivered to the table quickly even though the restaurant was very busy at 2:30 when our table was booked. My husband had fish and chips with a side of whitebait!! He thoroughly enjoyed that too, and there was even a free treat for our little dog. Great company with our best friends who treated us in a restaurant that was buzzing. What more could we ask for? Excellent. We are from Norfolk but we hope to return soon.

Absolutely dreadful on this occasion which was mother's day. Obviously had problems in the kitchen. Many people were complaining about long waits and uncooked food. We were then told they were not sure kitchen could provide any more food and if they could it would be at least 1.5 hours wait. Manager has apparently gone home! Young bar and waiting staff were obviously stressed and distressed but were doing there best under the circumstances and should be commended for their efforts. We left and went elsewhere for our meal.

My daughter invited me for Mother's day lunch in this place. Day was ruined. LONG waiting time,too long.Absolutely mess.All complains to pub management.If you can't do it simple don't do it.Never again.
