Dragon Inn in Central Bedfordshire

My usual Chinese is closed so, I thought I’d give Dragon’s Inn a try. I spoke to the restaurant over the phone and they were very polite and accommodating. Unfortunately the food just wasn’t very nice, it was confusingly very bland. I say confusingly as the special fried rice just taste like boiled rice and the strongest flavour in it was the garden peas! The Satay Chicken was slightly bizarre it was very gloopy I’m not sure if that was because the garnishes had gone soft and again no strong flavour, I could barely taste any peanut, really oily too. The prawns were crispy but the garnish didn’t taste like anything! The chicken balls were good a nice portion, crisp on the outside really meaty chicken piece in the middle but the sauces were not they smelled like vinegar. Chowmein very bland again. It was really unfortunate as the customer service was great. Even the delivery man was really lovely.

Wonderful place to eat and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Staff excellent, friendly, kind and helpful. Informative. Service brilliant. Fairly quiet when we went so they had time for us. Love their new decoration. Takeaways are always good too. As a bit expensive we always use them for special occasions. Worth it.

Having set our expectation for delivery to take one hour we were pleasantly surprised when our delicious food arrived after only 30 minutes.

Good food and a friendly atmosphere but the price was high. We ordered one of the set meals with slight amendments which we were told were fine. I asked if the price was going to change and was told they would check. It was only at the end when the bill was presented we found it had been unexpectedly increased, significantly. I asked the manager about it and was told that that was the final figure. So, not such good value for money as it might have been. Disappointing and left us thinking we will not be returning.

I ate there last night with my brother and sister in law, the food was first class the best Chinese meal I have had for a long time, the food was hot the service was excellent very friendly and not in your face, they even give your time between courses. Excellent well done to everyone.

This is an updated review for 2023 (the last time I'd eaten from here it was 2017 😳) The 2017 review was 2 star, it was a very poor experience, my missus decided to order from here, well things have changed a lot, the food was excellent, prompt delivery. Its a little pricier than the local competition, however it seens to be the best available in Leighton Buzzard. The restaurant has had a major renovation and looks fantastic.

If you like Dragon Inn's takeaway service you need to try their newly refurbished restaurant. The food is incredible, such flavour. The service is second to none, homely and friendly without being in your face. The decor is beautiful and tasteful. p.s. their deep fried ice cream is amazing

Popped in to get a takeaway. We noticed the restaurant was members only and when we enquired the lady offered to show us around the restaurant and helped us to sign up. Food was cooked quickly, it was hot and tasty 😋

What a fabulous experience. This restaurant has recently re-opened after closure for over 3 years due to pandemic in first instance. It has been beautifully re-decorated, the staff are so good and we were treated to a 'tea ceremony' on arrival which was such a lovely experience. The food was really good, very generous portions and altogether a really great time. Would thoroughly recommend.

Everything I said below still stands (the visual menu is still the game changer), but the most important thing is - Patrick remembered me when I spoke to him over the phone!! One of my friends is vegetarian and can really fancied eating certain vegetarian foods, and Dragon Inn managed to accommodate us! Right, let’s talk about why it’s the best Chinese takeaway in Leighton, in my opinion. Firstly, their website has a photo of each dish. It’s brilliant for those who aren’t familiar with Chinese food or would like to try something new! I had a big-ish meal a couple of weeks ago and my friends who aren’t familiar with Chinese food found this feature very helpful. Second, the food was FRESH. Have you been frustrated because your crispy chilli beef wasn’t crispy? Well, we ordered quite a bit of crispy dishes and they all turned out crispy. Thirdly, the freebie. Most Chinese takeaways give customers either prawn crackers, fortune cookies or coke as freebies. However, they’ve given us another started (crispy chicken strips) as I think Patrick guessed that we loved chicken and crispy food! Finally, it’s cheap. Check out the meal; it was only around 80 and it was delivered to ours. Winner. Highly recommend it.

We ordered chicken chow Mein and spring rolls with seaweed and some other bits and I loved it! I would definitely recommend this place.

Delicious food, large portions, polite staff I would highly recommend this restaurant and have added them to my very short favourites list. I had a minor problem with my order which was quickly sorted with no fuss, an apology and a free bottle of wine.

Very poor, tasteless chicken stew with some veg, nothing like a curry .Rice overcooked and congealed. 50% more expensive than Golden Harvest take-away 50 yards away.

Often screws up my order, have been ordering for years but in recent years both quality and consistency have really gone down hill. The last time I ordered the food arrived cold, they refunded then told me not to order from them again because they "could not provide what I wanted".... apparently hot food isn't something they can provide. They have also ignored dietary requests, for example not to add chili so if you are allergic avoid! - order with extreme caution.

Best Chinese takeaway in Bedfordshire. The food is always absolutely spot on, and the service is friendly and efficient. They take my wife’s nut allergy really seriously and always go the extra mile to assure us that there are no nuts in the dishes we order. Is it the cheapest? The food was amazing 🤩 We have tried so many Chinese takeaways in so many cities and I have been eating Chinese food since 1970’s (so I know what good 😋 and bad food is 🤢). This place is just on another scale. We just had a takeaway based on the good reviews and were not disappointed .. The food was delivered just 20 minutes after ordering. It was hot, very tasty and the portions were huge. We will be ordering from here again.

Ordered from here in May with my boyfriend. The service, speed of delivery and good was all great. I particularly loved the spring rolls and would go as far to say they are the best I've had yet! Would recommend.

Ordered a takeaway from here the other night and we were very disappointed. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken balls, the sauce that came with it did not taste like sweet and sour sauce, more like a teriyaki. It wasn't nice. Also the satay chicken skewers were definitely under cooked as the colour was pink and the texture was disgusting. Considering I spent nearly £40 on this order which is quite expensive I expected the food to be up to par but sadly it was not. Will not be ordering from here again.

The most horrific Chinese I have ever eaten. So horrific it has compelled me to actually leave a review as I felt so mugged off for spending £48 on this. The duck was bone dry, the ribs were tasteless and I have no idea what the little lumps of who knows what were, but they certainly weren't Hong Kong style sweet and sour pork. Don't eat it, I barely did and even the dog wouldn't eat the rest.

A fabulous sharing menu which easily and deliciously feeds two. The soft shell crab is amazing. The sharing plates are good value but a real treat.

We had not been to this restaurant for a while and actually been not eating Chinese for a long time but just fancied it again. We were not disappointed and recommend the restaurant.

Fantastic food great price and really friendly staff

We've been eating at this restaurant since we moved to the area in 2004. The staff have changed over the years but the friendliness has continued. The food has always been excellent. Kung po duck, soft shell crab being favorites. We eat from the a la carte but the buffet always looks good with dishes replaced frequently. Lovely place.

Great people great food. I have never had a bad meal from dragon inn. Deliverys can take time but they are busy so i allways opt to collect which is very fast. Can be seen as pricey compared to others but the food is so much better and tastier. Bobby

We’ve eaten here quite a few times because they do a special vegan menu which is excellent. Lots of choice and every dish is well cooked. The atmosphere is a relaxed and friendly. The head waiter, sonny made us feel at home and is very knowledgeable, nothing is to much for him and the other staff. Great food and great atmosphere

Thank you for a lovely meal and evening. Just as friendly and welcoming as our last visit. The all you can eat buffet was hot and so tasty. Our crispy duck was exactly as it should be, freshly made and delivered to us as often as we like. Delightful deserts but what really matters are the friendly staff. We were remembered from our previous visit and treated as friends not a number pouring through the door. Can’t wait to come back again

We have ordered from you for take away for a long time now. I had visited many years ago, but for the rest of my family it was their first time into the restaurant. Booking a table was easily done through their own app. The different meal type options were brilliant, we went for 6 starters and 6 main courses. Plenty of choice for young and old. We left stuffed. Staff were very attentive. Looking forward to coming back.

My wife wanted Chinese food for a change so we went to the Dragon Inn in Leighton buzzard. It's a restaurant and also a take away so expect some background noise of people who are not dining. We were first but soon enough most of the tables were taken. The waiter offered an "all you can eat" offer for £15.99 per person which seemed attractive giving that main dishes average around the £8 mark. We went for it. It was fantastic! The meal is made of sets of six different dishes of your choice from the starters and six from the mains and thereafter order as much as you like more from the menu which has about 60 items. Starters were lovely, all the usual Chinese menu , nicely made, I also ordered soup which was great. Mains were very nice too. I ordered two more mains after the initial six they were very tasty. Service is very friendly The bill with drinks was less than £40. Very nice evening, highly recommend.

Like the deals and offer they do, decent Chinese sometimes have innovative dishes.

Never dissaoints. Dragon Inn does an excellent range of starters, especially the SATE chicken, and the best crispy duck in the area. Buffet nights at weekend are good value.

So pleased that we found this wonderful place. This restaurant has now become a firm family favourite for takeaways and also our favourite Chinese to dine in. There is ALWAYS a warm welcome. The food is exceptionally good. Staff are extremely friendly and can not do enough for you. We have dined here as a large family group with young children and the staff were so lovely to the kids but mainly it’s myself and my two sisters that go regularly and the food never disappoints. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Visited the Dragon in on a Tuesday to find the buffet is only available Friday and Saturday but the waiter told us about the eat as much as you like menu that was available.

Recently used the Dragon with a group of friends. The waiter (sunny) made The group feel very welcome was very warm and friendly. He also made us feel special and was accommodating to every request. Felt time was well spent and the waiter made the groups night. The food was amazing and such a great variety of choice. Everything laid out and presented well that all for worth the price. Great service, great food and great night.

2ND visit in 5 wks, Absolutely delicious food, We had the eat as much as you like buffet,Great varied choice even included is crispy duck or lamb, We choose the lamb which was so good,and what I love about this instead of having pancakes you have crispy lettuce leaves which is a taste sensation. All in all nice clean restaurant supported by very attentive and friendly staff.

All the chinese take aways in leighton buzzard have gone down hill,the last two deliverys i have had from dragon inn were unedible, We started to use dragon inn 2 or 3 months ago and were good, but now are on my avoid list.

We haven’t been here for a few years as we live a good few miles away,but couldn’t resist the temptation as we were local and so happy to return

The parking is not great in Leighton Buzzard but the welcome you will get at the Dragon Inn will more than make up for that. The restaurant is over two floors with plenty of elbow room, the staff will care for your every need, the bar is well stocked and the food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Plenty to eat and a varied choice of dishes which includes DUCK. Eat as much as you like.

We came here for our Dads 65th and had an amazing time, so good in fact me and my Fiancé came back a couple of weeks later for a late dinner. Food is amazing and staff are very nice and welcoming. The prawn toast is a must and the nicest I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend this place. Will be back soon!

Was looking for a Chinese buffet and come across this restaurant. Very chilled atmosphere, and extremely polite and friendly staff. Very welcoming place and the food is served hot and fast. All food was cooked to a good standard and definitely was worth the money.

We ordered a takeaway last night and this was the first time we have used the Dragon Inn. I was extremely disappointed. The food had little taste and I have never seen a chicken with cashew nuts in yellowbean sauce like the one we received. The chicken was red as was the whole dish....as if it hsd been intended for something different! Maybe a sweet and sour?? It tasted nothing like it should and I have eaten enough of them to know! The spicy prawns lacked flavour too. A very disappointing experience.

Huge portions, (we took what we couldn’t eat home with us), friendly, attentive and helpful staff. They cater for vegans and were also happy to adapt a dish to accommodate a vegan’s choice.

We having been eating in the Dragon Inn for as long as I can remember and have never been disappointed. The food and service are both fantastic. I particularly recommend the peking duck and chilli beef strips, though everything on the menu is excellent. Probably my favourite restaurant.

We have been coming here for over 20 years and it never disappoints. The Chili beef strips are particularly highly recommended as well as the duck and aromatic lamb. In addition to the a la carte menu, there is also a buffet option. We recently had their new all you can eat “off the menu” option, which is fantastic. All in all a great restaurant with friendly service and great food.

If I could vote 0 then I would. I'm highly disappointed after reading some good reviews. Overall the Sunday buffet was okay but limited. It was all very cold, when another table asked for the food to be mircowaved the staff member took the plate then made a rude comment to another member of staff. I wasn't impressed at this point, but the food was edible. On my second plate I cut into raw chicken. I discretely told a member of staff who took the plate to the kitchen as I was hoping they would quickly fix their mistake and remove the uncooked food. The Chef came out to me and explained that the type of chicken left it pink. I've worked in kitchens cooking many different types of food, never should chicken be pink and juicy like this.. unless it is raw. The staff and Chef refused to take the rest of the chicken away. We left immediately. It's a highly dangerous situation for raw chicken to be served and after feeling incrediblly ill now myself I would strongly advise against visiting this restaurant. EDIT ** I would like to comment that the reply from the restaurant isnt true. We was not offered any other food. I said I did not want to argue despite staff constantly coming back to to argue the point and making us feel very uncomfortable as we discretely told them about the raw chicken not wanting th scene that they then caused themselves.

We came here tonight as a party of 8 for my brothers birthday. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was lovely. One of our party is a vegan and they went out of their way to make sure that she had a really good meal. They even had a cake for the birthday boy - and it was only because they had enquired on arrival whether we were celebrating anything. I hadn’t asked for it so i was really touched by that.

My partner and i went for the lunch buffet today and after having lukewarm choixes to begin with, they were eventually topped up with 'fresh' cooked hot food. When my partner cut into one of her chicken pieces from the satay chicken it was bright pink in colour and lukewarm at best - i.e not cooked. We pointed this out to staff despite having already eaten several bits from the newest batch which you could only assume were cooked the same. We explained that they needed to remove all the chicken from that batch and re-cook some new chicken correctly. Instead they took out 1 piece to the kitchen and the chef then came out and told us that despite it being pink, it was cooked. He stated that pink it was cooked fine because it got up to the correct temperature - despite it not being hot. The chef continued to argue very i appropriately before we just nodded and he went back to the kitchen - leaving the remaining undercooked chicken in situe. The first member of staff came back and began saying that they didnt need to remove the chicken as it isnt 100% chicken it is 90% chicken, 10% water which means it stays pink throughout. He continued this story and added that he used to work in tesco where they sold rotiserie chicken - he stated they sometimes sold it pink there also but admitted when customers brought it back they logged it and replaced it. How can it not be okay at tesco but fine there?

Ordered a takeaway from Dragon Inn tonight and it was fantastic. Not greasy, nice and hot, and fantastic flavours. I would recommend the sweet and sour dishes. They are brilliant.

I went to have dinner with my friend last Tuesday. We had excellent service and we felt very welcoming. He offered good advice on what to order. Throughout the meal, while hosts were attentive throughout, we did not feel uncomfortable and my friend and I had a good catch up chat since we have not seen each other for many months.

There's a choice of buffet, a la cart or eat as much as you like cooked fresh. Friendly staff. Amazing food.they also do delivery and collection.

Family run restaurant serving authentic Chinese food. The eat as much as you like was excellent with plenty to choose from the menu . All tables service and cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients. Nice crunchy peppers etc . The smokey chicken was my favourite starter . The sweet and sour king prawns , and beef chilli in black bean sauce oh the chicken chow main all yummy mains. Plus lovely homemade delicious ice cream . Very creamy , chocolate chip , Oreo and mango all yummy. Will definitely be going again in the new year .

We don’t do this sort of thing but when you pay a lot of money for an evening out I really do expect a good meal and decent service. The food was bland, I felt like the take away orders were more important then the sit down orders and the service was very poor. Food took a long time to appear between courses and the food itself was very tasteless. Sad to put this in writing but that’s the way We feel about our experience at the Dragon Inn

Have not used this takeaway for years due to previous bad meal. Decided to give it another go hoping that it may have improved. Very unhappy with food quality. Chicken balls very tough and chewy. Prawn crackers were bland. Prawn toast and the seaweed was ok. Special rice was not good. I was also informed that had I called them directly, delivery would have been free so felt a bit conned by Just-eat. I will not be using just eat again nor will I be eating from here again. Had I tasted the food prior, there is no way that this would have been paid for.

We always get our take-away's from Dragon Inn and often eat there as a couple. However it is a long time since we took friends there as a group. All agreed we had an excellent experience and would be back soon. The buffet was available but so was the normal extensive menu and a special menu for the evening. Something for everyone and no problem in mixing it up. The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive (Steve)

This eatery has been around at least 15 years, I myself haven't been here since I was young but it is clearly doing amazingly given the current climate for shops on the High Street, with the bus stop being around a five or so minute walk away in town.

Thank you Dragon Inn for the beautiful lunch. I LOVE the variety of food available and those ribs are just delicious as are the wontons and everything really!

The hosts were wonderful and made us feel very welcome for my sister’s birthday. Excellent service and tasty food. Thank you and hope to visit again soon

We went to Dragon Inn for my daughter's birthday party on the 11th November, 2018. As soon as we walked in, Wendy and Kenny greeted us with a big smile. They didn't mind that the children ate first, as we were still waiting for other family members. It was a buffet meal and the food was simply delicious!! As we were chatting, Wendy and Kenny were quietly clearing our table. They were perfect hosts and very efficient and friendly in their demeanour. Wendy brought out the Birthday cake (which she kindly agreed to store in their fridge) to the accompaniment of Happy Birthday music. She played with the kids and taught Ruben how to write 1-5 in Chinese within 3 minutes! Ruben still remembers how to write them!! Caring hosts, great food and excellent service! We look forward to going there again and again. Nina
