The best restaurants in Aspley and Woburn Central Bedfordshire East of England

This place could be amazing but it is lacking atmosphere and the food is very ordinary. It needs a total overhaul. Everything feels dated and they need to look at other restaurants/brasseries in other area. It always seems half empty. Wouldn't go back again.

Made to feel very unwelcome by the owner. Told to take our shoes off as they were muddy so had to wear just socks on stone cold floor. Food experience mixed, spaghetti bolonaise good though. Lovely bar staff but owner clearly didn't want kids. Many good pubs in Woburn I would choose over this

I had to write this review to express my total gratitude for the generosity, warmth and hard work of Emily and all the team at the Fir Tree Inn, for donating and preparing an absolutely amazing meal for 20-+ guests at at Woburn Sands Winter Night Shelter for our local homeless community. The Fir Tree is a valued and vibrant part of our community and I approached Emily to ask if The Fir Tree could help us out. knowing that they would already be busy. They were busy, but nevertheless Emily agreed immediately and enthusiastically, but couldn't chat about it much though as she had totally lost her voice. Despite lack of voice and busy trade, Emily took the time to get a team member to call me the very next day! Everything was arranged smoothly and immediately and all the team were really supportive and pleased to be involved. When we went to collect the food, we were overwhelmed by the super friendly reception, and the quality, quantity, presentation and variety of food that had been made. The chefs had made us Thai Green Chicken Curry, Thai Green Veg Curry, mountains of fluffy fragrant rice with loads of Prawn Crackers and a whole range of puddings. Everything was piping hoy, delicious, healthy and satisfying. There was enough for everyone to have seconds- and everyone did eagerly (they had to have a break before even thinking about pudding but really enjoyed it later). Cant thank the Fir Tree enough for everything they have done. A really generous. community minded team.

From other reviews it seemed a really nice place to go. Our experience was that the staff were pleasant and helpful, but the food I would describe as prepackaged and re arranged. I had a chicken in pepper corn sauce. The chicken was hard and difficult to cut and was best described as being plastic and reformed. The pepper corn sauce I have had better supermarket brands My wife described her soup as being from a can with herbs thrown in, though she did enjoy the lamb which seemed fresh. Over all for the price , we did not think it worth it as there are better restuarants within walking distance

Dined here with friends, hadn’t been for 2 years, will be a long time before I return. Meal & drink for 4 was over £250!!, frankly not worth it. The Camembert was ok, but not great, very basic. I had their special Waggu burger, but for £19, was very disappointed. Never been served such a small burger, it got lost in the bun, doubt it weighed 4 oz 🙈. It had a bit of cheese on, came with a view skinny fries & a little pot of dip, again very basic, not much effort or skill in serving this. 2 of our party had the sea bass, and this looked slightly overdone as the fish was stuck solid to the skin in places. Dessert was disappointing too. Overall, had a lovely evening thanks to the company, but the meal was minimal, over priced and not very exciting.

First time here and it won't be the last. Excellent menu (kids as well) and great choice of drinks too. Staff were friendly and helpful (especially Lynn). Tasty food although the service could have been quicker however it was very busy

Beware of this place. We were meeting some friends for lunch at this place. We have been away in South Africa for 3 weeks. We returned home today only to find a parking fine and reminder notice for £100. Luckily we have photographs posted to Facebook showing all 8 of us eating in their restaurant (spent £240) so will be opposing any attempted enforcement. We gave them our car details on arrival at the restaurant. Avoid like the plague, sounds like total scammers. There are much better places nearby with honest and scrupulous owners. Also the Facebook page went offline on December 27th.

Really lovely atmosphere in this very, warm welcoming pub. Fantastic friendly team matched by great food and service. We had a very relaxed, enjoyable lunch today. Thank you Lucy for looking after us so well.

Came here for lunch today and it was lovely. The staff are very welcoming the service was very good and the food was delicious. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and the decor is very pleasing. I have been here before and this is now a firm favourite as the food has never disappointed me. We had the Winter lunch time special and it was delicious. Garlic mushrooms to start followed by bean and red pepper goulash and the steak sandwich. I am looking forward to coming back soon. Thanks to everyone at the Birch for going the extra mile.

We’ve eaten here a few times over the past few months. It’s always been disorganised, but the food has made up for it. Last night - Saturday- was disastrous. There appeared to be only two members of staff working in the restaurant, which was virtually full. We (a family of four) sat down to eat at 5.45pm. Even checking in was a struggle. The desk wasn’t manned, staff literally running from bar to restaurant. Another couple also waiting to be seated said ‘this doesn’t bode well’. We managed to order reasonably quickly. There were several large tables and (apparently) two functions. The starters of two garlic breads came fairly promptly, but were soggy and undercooked. Our mains were sat at the restaurant pass for some time, under heat lamps. My fish and chips was cold and the chips inedible. My son’s sausages were also cold and his chips inedible. There was no check back by staff - they simply didn’t have time - so we left most of our food. It’s such a shame that Oakman haven’t staffed the Woburn properly. It’s a great venue in a great village, but it will be a long time before we go again. Ironically they emailed a survey request to my husband this morning ‘tell us about your visit!’ From past experience, this is futile.

Visited for Sunday lunch, several items not available (fortunately not the Roast dinners). Lovely atmosphere, & food. Excellent service from our server Taylor., he deserves a pay rise. 😊

We had a good meal. We started with nachos, and then we both had burgers and chips. Fin was our server, and his service was good. It was nice they had a soft play there so little ones can play whilst waiting for the food.
