Travelling from Sheffield to the Kent coast with a stop at Woburn Safari Park, I phoned ahead to The Bell, Woburn to enquire about a table to watch the England game. A very competent member of staff advised me the restaurant was busy with a casino night, she then phoned me back of her own accord to say she could secure us a table in the bar area where we could watch the game. What a star member of staff. Our seat in front of the TV was excellent, food was great and staff very obliging. Thank you to the lady whose name sadly I can’t remember but I appreciate her effort, just the type of staff you’d want on your team.

1st time of staying and won’t be the last. Was booked to stay by work so hadn’t been before. Room was lovely and clean, my only issue was it was at the front of the hotel which meant all the road noise and the bed was right on the non double glazed window, however, I’m a light sleeper so I did struggle to sleep because of this, my colleague slept like a baby in a room below mine. The bed was really comfy, it was just my ears that was the problem, next time I will ask for a room at the back of the hotel if possible. The food was amazing!! 3 breakfasts and 3 evening meals and they did not disappoint. Couldn’t fault the food or the staff. Really lovely chap on at breakfast who had a great memory with room numbers and peoples ‘usuals’. You can park at the back of the hotel or behind the pub over the road. I highly recommend this hotel.

We booked as a last minute as the weather was horrible, and didn't know what else to do. I stated we would like a table away from dogs as my husband has an allergy. When we arrived we were shown to a lovely window table. The server Taylor, was amazing, he never rushed us. It was a long leisurely lunch with amazing food. It was throughly enjoyable, and we will be back again.

The pub/restaurant is lovely. Be aware- though dog friendly, dogs are limited to bar side tables which aren’t automatically allocated if you book online. We were 5 adults, one was a vegan. The menu had a good range of reasonably priced options. No one had alcohol but 2 adults had a soft drink. We had 5 main courses- Cajun chicken and chips/gammon, egg and chips/vegan butternut squash risotto/ steak and chips/beef burger and chips All the food was lovely and well portioned. One dessert of 3x chocolate ice cream also went down well. Total came to under £80 which seemed very reasonable especially because the food didn’t feel cheap or lacked quality. Highly recommend.

Went for Easter Sunday lunch, staff are all young, pleasant but completely untrained. On arrival at table wine glasses were removed without asking if we wanted wine . No drinks order offered. Menus were given and orders taken 4 starters and 4 mains no changes nothing out of ordinary young girl struggled to remember even though she wrote it down and had to check 3 times what we wanted. No drinks were offered still and we had to ask for wine list, sadly she had no understanding of wine couldn’t spell them or pronounce them no knowledge of the wine list at all. One of the glasses ordered was unavailable she came back with a recommended alternative which was completely wrong I’d ordered a dry rose she came back and offered a full sweet wine. Food arrived starters just bung in the oven type stuff dry and over cooked. Main course beef over cooked veg undercook rock hard parsnips and stuffing, sadly disappointed. Service etiquette was bad, reaching over the closest person rather than walk behind and serve properly, on clearing away the guy just said pass ya plate. We’re were not offered any more drinks and by now the urge for deserts had gone. Overall a lack lustre experience for the price. We went elsewhere had more drinks and cake where the waiting staff were on it. Would not go back.

Not quite the experience we expect from this chain.Staying for the weekend in Woburn, we soon learned there isn't much choice after 8pm!We chose here as it advertises on the website that food is served until 10pm. On Saturday night, this was 9pm! So. At 8.55pm, we had to make a quick decision. We ordered lasagne and a traditional burger. It arrived after 15 minutes and they were really nice. I had a large red wine and the other half had to have a larger as there was no cask ales! (Not sure why this has a Cask Marque!)Sunday evening. Our own hotel shut everything at 5pm! The local restaurants closed at 6pm! So, advertising a 10pm finish, we returned here.We arrived at 7.45pm, to be told they would finish at 8pm!With no choice, we ordered two beef dinners. They arrived 10 minutes later, which is fine, but at & £11 each, I don't want microwaved vegetables and yorkshire pudding. Disappointing. We now realise why the 'gastro pub' up the road was packed and we couldn't get a table. After 13 years in hospitality, this place is frustratingly disappointing.

We wanted a bite to eat after a lovely walk around woburn. Popped into the Bell for a pint and food. We ordered 2×fish and chips and 2x fish finger sandwiches ( on brown). Settled down with drinks and waited half an hour, the food came eventually, white bread sandwiches (no brown bread left), cremated fish fingers and a bit of lettuce, the fish and chips were just as sad, burnt fish. 3 of us ate the food as they were starving , but I just couldn't face it! We paid up and left. We weren't asked if everything was ok? So I did actually tell them that it was disgusting.

Visited the Bell Inn for lunch today .Have had previous bad meals there (one included a Lasagne that was still frozen in the middle ),but have been assured it has improved. NOT the case ! I was served carrots that hadn't seen a saucepan, were absolutely rock hard, mashed potato that was all yellow and dry like it had been sat on a plate for a week. Complained to the waitress who asked if I wanted another dinner - NO thank you very much ! Other diners were also complaining about their food.spoke to the manager who seemed quite embarrassed. We WON'T be back !

This is the second time I have stayed here. This time the room was a little small but adequate. The room was tired and could do with a freshen up. The bedroom sink had a small crack in it, but it was clean. Food was lovely, staff friendly and the room including breakfast was £50 for two. Can’t moan at that. We also received 20% of the food we ate for dinner. I would stay here again and will probably book to stay again in the next couple of months. Lady came to ask if we would like dessert we asked for a break but was told that chef was clearing down kitchen and then he was off !! So I had a dessert wish I hadn't bothered though. We booked table at 7pm and we were home by 8.15pm least to say didn't enjoy it which was a shame as it was a birthdsy meal out could have done better at home. Nice weekend away as a couple. Our room was in need of some TLC, but as we walked up to the room I could see other rooms looked much fresher so we are just assuming that ours was awaiting a little do-up. Our room was however completely clean - it just needed a lick of paint really. Staff were great in both the hotel and restaurant opposite (they even recommended a kebab house delivery for the end of the night!). Also the parking was incredibly useful. Breakfast included which is a bonus, it wasn't the best breakfast in the world however we couldn't complain for the price.

Coffee was cold, and service was very intermittent, the waitress kept saying they were awfully busy .

The building is old so you expect a bit of wear and tear, scuffs here and there, the odd worn bit in a carpet... but broken and missing tiles on the bathroom splashback, a missing glass shelf although it's metal supports were there complete with ageing sticky tape was still present. The discolouration of the tape suggesting it has been there for some time... Months. You don't expect a full refurbishment but running repairs like this should be ongoing. A shame really as the rest of the room was well presented and perfectly suitable for my needs. On arrival at approx 7:30pm, I was asked whether I intended eating in the restaurant and warned that I should get across there quickly if I was as there was a wedding elsewhere, no-one was around... the implication being that they intended closing as early as possible. The official closing time was, I think, around 10:00 but I did as I was told!It was immediately clear that the staff were disgruntled, the more so as additional customers had the temerity to come through the door. One such pairing were clearly 'the worse for wear'... him more than her and quite loud. He was initially refused an alcoholic drink but very soon after had a large vodka and tonic... or rather 2 as the order got duplicated. Although I think one was then taken away from him with no subtelty whatsoever. His behaviour was not really in keeping with the surroundings but you can hardly expect the waiting staff to handle this sort of issue. They then seemed to make friends with the table and with another whose male occupant was 'not far behind' the first. There was loud conversation between the 2 tables and then between the waitresses and one table when phone photos of their dogs started to be exchanged. A little while later the waitresses decided to join in singing to the background music. That could be seen as an indication of a warm atmosphere... it wasn't. It was totally unprofessional.I noticed errors being made in orders for other tables... mine was OK and the food OK but served suspiciously quickly adding to the view that the staff wanted to go home, by now it was about 8:30 and tables were being laid up for breakfast!I went in for breakfast at 8:45 the next morning... there was 1 guy there on his own f what was now becoming a full room. He had his routine and woe betide anyone who mucked it up... one lady wanted to order her cooked food at the same time as her tea and toast. Not a good plan... Huffing and puffing. The look and turn of the head I received when I asked for decaffeinated coffee was unacceptable. The coffee never arrived... I couldn't be bothered to ask again. Another server appeared at one point... having, I assume, been called over from reception where she was sitting when I came downstairs... improving things, if a little late in the process. I'm not sure that sharing reception and restaurant staff across 2 buildings is that good an idea.Bizarrely, though, there were sparks which suggested that staff knew what they should be doing... occasional use of customer name, asking the right questions, appearing interested in customers although, maybe, mis-guided in the way exhibited and in body language and tone of voice. What I didn't see at any point in my visit was anyone who resembled a manager or supervisor. On a Saturday night and Sunday morning... which you might have imagined to be a prime time for leadership to be visible and to support staff whom, despite my earlier, comments I think want to provide good service. Must be frustrating for them!

The Bell Hotel & Inn Restaurant has a very strange set up. The Bar and restaurant is directly across the road to the Hotel itself. The Manager is often seen multiple times crossing the road and in all weathers to attended to serving food and drink orders or to a pager call from the unattended reception! My Wife and I stayed in room 25 which was very clean and comfortable with a bigish Bathroom. The Hotel is very quiet for which we enjoyed a good night sleep. The Hotel Staff were very efficient and friendly. A service that one will often see at a hotel abroad! As with most Old English Inns, expect Steep stairs cases, but there was no long corridors. The Bar closes quite early but then each night (during May) it was generally very quiet to warrant so!

Thought we would give the Bell restaurant another visit for dinner. Our previous visits have been variable in service and quality. This time they seemed somewhat adrift. The staff seemed to lack direction and the food was mediocre. The Bell should have everything going for it. It has the potential for a good place to eat, nice ambience, it has good parking facilities but it always seems to fall short. It tries really hard with its marketing offering potentially very good value for money but lacks the 'on the ground' abiltiy to deliver.

A man, who I can only describe as the most miserable man EVER served us (begrudgingly) without uttering a single word - quite the talent. When on eof our party went to the bar to buy another drink, he was served but told that they were closing in 10 minutes, and sure enough, 10 minute slater, the music was switched off and we were made to feel extremely unwelcome.

Rustico e soddisfacente, rapporto qualità-prezzo eccellente.

Stayed overnight as convenient for The Birch just down the road. One night was enough! Steep stairs, no lift and a room overlooking a busy road. En-suite room was just adequate, with bath and shower, but small sign saying anti-slip bath mats were available from reception was only spotted when it was too late. Plenty of parking, but again, steep rear access. Check-in and -out was a breeze but breakfast (across said busy road, twice!) was spoiled by lack of refrigeration for the fruit salad, yogurts etc. Cooked food was good. Restaurant staff less so.

They had run out of draft beer and the staff were curt and grumpy. It was all too much trouble. I ordered rib of beef which came with an enormous bone, certainly not a rib, and I am not sure it was rib of beef as described on the menu. Another person had loin of pork which was supposed to have crispy crackling. It was soft and inedible. They certainly need to up their game. In fact I wonder if they are going out of business because of the couldn’t care less attitude.

Stopped at this pub for lunch yesterday. Before I go on I just want to say that the front of house staff were very good. We didn’t have a problem with them. We ordered Jacket potatoes, mine with cheddar cheese and mozzarella, and my husband’s was with prawns in a sauce. Mine came minus the mozzarella, and my husband’s was grey in parts. They both came cut open with the fillings on top. When we complained the waitress came to see us and said the chef had told her he had run out of mozzarella (but he didn’t think to mention it!) and how was he to know what a jacket potato was like before it was cut into! So pleased for him that it wasn’t his fault! We were offered a free dessert, but quite honestly, didn’t fancy anything else made by the chef. So won’t be visiting again. Shame.

We were delighted to find somewhere able to accommodate our party of eight for Father’s Day, having left our booking a little late. However, there may have been a reason why The Bell wasn’t fully booked. Whilst the service was friendly, the food did not live up to previous visits. In particular, the ribeye steaks were full of fat and one “very well done” steak was still pink. Also there was hardly any meat on the half chicken. We were immediately offered a refund for the two steaks and all the dads in our party received a nice pint glass as a Father’s Day gift but it was not the treat we were hoping for.

We (2 adults and 3 children - 7, 10 and 12) arrived in the pub at 7:45pm having sat in traffic on the M25. We were staying at Longs Inn (very nice) - the girl behind the desk suggested The Black Horse or The Bell Inn for food as Longs Inn do not serve food on a Sunday evening. Unfortunately we chose the Bell Inn. We arrived and asked if they accepted children. Apparently they do - but not after 9:00pm. There was nothing on the door or outside to say this. I am 95% sure there was space in the restaurant (as we had walked past it on the way in), but cannot guarantee that there was. We were pointed to an area in the bar - where there was not actually seating for five. We found extra chairs to make a table for five, but sat next to two local men - who used the "F" word throughout their conversation - 3 yards from us and our children. Having just sat down at the table the bar maid gave us our menus and told us to chose quickly as the kitchen was about to close. We understood this, but nothing was done politely. We chose food and my husband went to the bar - ordering food before drink. The food order was sent to the kitchen before my husband had ordered the drinks. The chef came out at 7:55 pm to say that the kitchen was closed and everything had been shut down. The bar woman, to her defence, did say that the kitchen closed at 8:00 and that the food was to be cooked. The chef turned and gave my husband quite a threatening stare. The food was OK - but the unfriendly and unwelcoming attitude rather put us off. The two men did not move (fine), but they did not temper their language or conversation having three youngish children sat next to them. Bearing in mind it was the start of half term and the pub's location to Woburn Safari Park, I cannot believe this pub was so anti-family.

Great Sunday lunch. Had the parsnip soup to start and very tasty and thick. Lamb shank was huge and very tasty. Roast beef ... well several large slices, almost steak thickness! Loads of potatoes and veg. You can order extra potatoes etc, but portions are...

We met up with a group of ringers from all over the country and most of us ended up here for lunch. They found seats for about 16 of us, who had not booked. The landlord, looked a little stunned, but the waitress took it all in her stride, laughing and joking. Despite our unplanned arrival the service was quick and the food was good.

Stayed here for an early Go Ape session in November. Staff were all very helpful, car park was good, rooms were nice and food was good too. Love staying in old places with character like this.

Went for lunch they have an excellent £4.99+ lunch menu as well as the normal main menu. Portion size of the £4.99 Ham & chips was as big as I would expect a normally priced place to be. Indian banquet was delightful, Pulled pork on Bloomer was delicious (just could have been warmer) and Peppered mushrooms were peppery lol - nice ice cream flavours and hot coffee. Service was very good and attentive - ambience very pleasant and comfortable. Glad we called in and would love to go again when in the area ps. car park at the back with nice garden

In my view, very basic , "straight from the freezer" fare, if my choice was anything to go by. The cod was the only "triangular" shaped fish i have ever been served

150 yards down the road from the bell, not a great deal of difference between the two, a little pricey for the accommodation , still in the realms of reality though.

Íbamos a los establos para ver un show. El menú no es demasiado grande, así que la elección fue fácil. La carne estaba perfecta como era de mi esposa scampi. Desierto era deliciosa y el servicio fue estupendo.

We called in for a quick lunch and were surprised that the sandwiches came so quickly. There was plenty of choice for hot and cold food and the portions were generous and very reasonably priced. One can sit in the bar area or the restaurant with views of the high street. The pub had a pleasant olde worlde ambience. Lunches were still being served long after 2pm.The entrance to the car park is quite narrow but the car park itself is a reasonable size.

Stayed 1 night and thankfully it was only 1 night. Our room no.31, on the end floor was in desperate need of decorating with ceiling paper hanging off and the sash window ( no double glazing) needed painting as the paint was peeling off inside and outside. The toilet flush took ages to refill which was noisy. Breakfast in the pub opposite was fine, no issues. Overall very expensive for a grotty room.

My friend and I decided to head off to Woburn on a nice sunny day, and while walking passed this pub we went inside to see if they had some spaces in the restaurant. We were the only people in the restaurant, when we arrived, but it was late afternoon and it's great to find a place that was open at that time of day. We ordered drinks and our food. They had quite a good choice on the menu. We both had the prawn cocktail, although the lettuce was in large leafy chunks. For the main course I decided on the prawn risotto and my friend decided on a meat pie.Large portions and I could not finish it all. We did not stay for dessert or coffee as we had no room. On leaving I went to the ladies toilet, but I soon realised there was no toilet paper at all. Not one square to be found!!!!

Woburn you would expect very posh, very expensive. No very normal great atmosphere, prices reasonable (4 of us with drinks and sweets under £70.00). Food was excellent Beef & Ale pie to die for. Very rustic dining area, wood floor, old furniture, really nice. The menu very extensive. This is my 3rd visit, each time after a long walk around Woburn Abbey grounds. It was a good job because the portions are large so a big appetite essential.

Ordered a medium rare Ribeye steak but was terrible, very tough and very underdone, just seared on the outside and raw . Felt ill afterwards, due to the meat possible being 'overmature'. Similar complaints from my two colleagues who had the same meal.

Nice place for a lunchtime relaxation after a mornings walking around the Woburn estate. For dog walkers is especially friendly with snacks for the animals and a heated outdoor area to sit.

We have visited the Bell on several occasions this year. We have never had a perfect meal. On the last occasion my food turned up 10 minutes after my wifes and some of it was raw! Told the waitress who in turn told the manager who reluctantly apologised. Onto the manager, never welcoming always makes you feel like hes doing you a favour. After our last experience we are never coming back. Its a shame as it could be very good.....

I came for lunch yesterday, with 4 of my work friends to celebrate mine and another's birthday. We arrived just after 12.30 without booking a table, but this was not a problem. The polite chap behind the bar steered us up to the restaurant and we were greeted by a very lovely smiley face and shown to our table. I had the haddock mornay, which was incredible and only £5.49! Every one of us enjoyed our meals and we will most definitely be coming back.....this will be our new go-to work lunch venue.

we went for Sunday Lunch today as we were in the area enjoying a nice walk around Woburn. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by a young lady who asked us to choose a table and proceeded to take our drink order, we were also given a menu which had adequate choice for Sunday lunch. The service was quick and efficient but the food was below average which was a bit of a shame, soggy carrots but almost uncooked cauliflower but the broccoli was just right. my rib of beef was ok but my partners roast beef was very tough and chewy, the best part was the mash which I assume had a bit of cheese in and added to a nice flavour.I know Sunday lunch is prepared in advance to meet with the mad rush but there are certain basic things that would have made this more enjoyable.

After a morning touring the Bedfordshire countryside, we found ourlselves crossing the Deer Park at Woburn Abbey from Eversholt. Luchtime was upon us and I suddenly remembered having a good lunch at The Bell.As before it represented very good value with interesting variants of familiar dishes and served by very pleasant staff. I had new twist on fish and chips which included a generous fillet of plaice served with breaded scallops and prawns and mushy peas on a wooden platter @ £14.95. A pint of Greene King IPA was a perfect accompaniment.

Would be a lovely place if the people that worked here actually put in the effort. False advertisement. Says it’s open till 5pm online but can’t order any food after 2pm? When questioned about it the “boss” just brushes it off by saying it’s “changing” but no one that lives there even knows this? He seems to not care at all about his customers. This place used to be nice but it has just got worse and worse. Something needs to change, this is where people live and they can’t even order a decent meal after 2pm. Terrible!

Visited on Sunday as a last minute decision and very glad it ended up in the grove lock!! Well presented restaurant with extremely friendly staff. I ordered a duo of roasts for my Sunday dinner and can easily say it was one of the best I’ve had! Thanks again il definitely be back.
