From other reviews it seemed a really nice place to go. Our experience was that the staff were pleasant and helpful, but the food I would describe as prepackaged and re arranged. I had a chicken in pepper corn sauce. The chicken was hard and difficult to cut and was best described as being plastic and reformed. The pepper corn sauce I have had better supermarket brands My wife described her soup as being from a can with herbs thrown in, though she did enjoy the lamb which seemed fresh. Over all for the price , we did not think it worth it as there are better restuarants within walking distance

My family ate here recently and was very impressed. We were meeting my daughter, her family including her 7 week old son but had our mother-in-law with us who has mobility issues. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We ate in the restaurant, the food was perfect but then took coffee in the comfortable seating bar area. Thank you to all the staff and particularly Dee and Lady for looking after us so well.

Excellent food and good service. The soups are wonderful. The room can be cold as it is in a conservatory style extension, but portable radiators can be provided. Reasonably priced.

We went to the Greenhouse restaurant for afternoon tea recently. We had a lovely selection of finger sandwiches cakes and fresh cream scones. All served by a friendly member of the team. If you are looking to treat someone to afternoon tea We would recommend you try The Greenhouse.

We was staying at the Best Western Moore Place Hotel for my wedding on the Friday night and I had booked a meal in the restaurant for 10 people which was really nice. The restaurant was not very busy at the time we had booked to eat that night. but the meal and the service we had was very good.

A lovely room in a lovely characterful building. An excellent head waiter who looked after us with great attention. Sadly, the food was only average and the few menu choices were generally uninteresting. It was very typical of an old-fashioned hotel restaurant. On the plus side, they managed to satisfy my gluten-free wife. Very strangely, they only take bookings for specific time slots - 1 booking per time slot (about 20 minutes apart) so many tables remain empty - perhaps this is explained by the only staff being the head waiter with one assistant waiter. It could also demonstrate that the cooking is home-made and freshly prepared. I did have a rather wonderful dessert, however. Worth a try but you can find a better meal, with more choices, elsewhere at lower prices.

Advice about food having to find vegetables on plate. Fish full of bones. Rib eye steak more like two minute quick fry. Restaurant very cold. Breakfast staff can’t take two orders at same time. One coffee and one tee to difficult.

Was staying at Moore Place for a Groupon deal for my boyfriends birthday and a 3 course meal and breakfast was included in the fabulous deal so we ate here last night and from start to finish it was AMAZING. Our table was booked for 7pm and we had a drink at the bar before as we were early. Were seated at our table and by the time we were eating mains the restaurant area was full. As the deal included the x3 courses we were given set menus to chose from but I believe you can also enjoy an a la carte menu. The menu had some lovely options, whilst browsing a waitress provided the wine list as we were allowed x1 glass each of a wine of our choosing which was a great touch, i had Zinfandel and my boyfriend had Chardonnay. For starters i chose the salmon and beetroot, the boyfriend had ham hock with a pear chutney, both beautiful and just the right amount with wonderful flavours. For mains i chose the chicken with mushroom which came with skin on roast potatoes, green beans, carrots, brocolli, cauliflower and the most amazing mushroom sauce.. Chicken was juicy and succulent. Just yum. The boyfriend had the pork with an apple and thyme jus again with the same vegetable arrangement. He thoroughly enjoyed his too. When we were given menus we could chose our pudding now i wouldnt normally do that in a restaurant but the majority of tables were groupon deals and i suspect they want to know numbers so when people order at the end of a meal they dont run out? We chose anyway and i decided on the cheeseboard (which is unusual for me) and the boyfriend had the chocolate dulice. Cheese was lovely, really really nice with fresh grapes and THE most amazing pear chutney i really wanted to take some home! The boyfriends dessert was perfect and very sweet. Breakfast before we checked out was also very yummy, buffet style with fresh fruit and pastries, cooked breakfast options with x3 types of eggs which i have genuinely never seen at a hotel buffet breakfast (scrambled, poached and fried!) and various fruit juices. Again helpful and friendly staff lots of young waitresses but they were all pleasant and curteous. Wonderful food will absolutely return to see what the a la carte menu has to offer, thanks all.

For ease we chose to eat at the hotel and I'm so glad we need. The food was fantastic avacado pear, with black pudding and chorizo to start which was excellent. It's nice to be able to try something new. The duck for main which was also tasty. Our waitress Terri added to the experience, not only did she take good care of us but she is a great people person and made us laugh alot. Overall we had a really enjoyable evening.

We only visited for Sunday lunch - did not stay at the hotel. Good value offering - traditional Sunday roast, £14.95 for two courses, £17.95 for 3. Food was good, although the roast beef was a little overdone for my taste. My wife enjoyed the lamb, and the accompanying Malbec was excellent. However, we were the only ones in the dining room, so atmosphere was definitely lacking! They only have a short window in which they serve Sunday lunches - latest allowed is 1.45 - and I felt that we were being a bit rushed. Having to select dessert at the same time as the main course was a bit out of order, and we were asked to pay before we'd finished our meal. The waitress didn't know how to make an Americano coffee, and when it turned up, some had been slopped into the saucer. Nothing major, but we expect better from an institution that sets itself up as a decent hotel. If they want to attract customers to Sunday lunch, need to do better.

My wife and I ate here two consecutive nights because we were staying in the attached BW Moore Place hotel on a DBB basis. The allowance per person was £25 which generally does not cover having three courses unless you choose the cheapest. The first night we had Parmesan and rocket salad and marinated sea bream fillet for starters. Then for mains we had the cod in tarragon/lemon sauce and rump of lamb. Both were excellent. The cod was cooked just right so that it fell apart. The lamb was very tender. Vegetables included crunchy mange tout, cauliflower broccoli and new potatoes cooked in their skins. For dessert we both had clotted cream cheesecake which came with three raspberries and a jus. Excellent though could have had a dollop of fresh cream to complete it. The second night we were lucky in that the menu changed - this appears to happen weekly at mid week. The previous menu was dated 27/7/16, the new menu was dated 3/8/16. Some dishes were identical or very similar. My wife had the smoked duck followed by roasted cod with caper sauce. I had the prawns and potted crab followed by spicy sea bass with coriander and ginger. The starters were fine but the mains were disappointing. Although the cod was cooked to perfection, the sauce with the cod was lacking flavour and the spicy sea bass was not at all spicy. For dessert we had Cambridgeshire cream with crushed amaretto biscuits and sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce. The former is essentially a crepe brûlée though there are claims that the English invented it first. The toffee pudding was lacking flavour. Although we had booked for 1900 on the second night, when we arrived there was nobody in the restaurant. After waiting a few minutes during which nobody came, I went to reception to seek service. It appeared they were short staffed that day. The manager was in at a meeting and the waiter had been working all day and needed a break. However, when they eventually appeared they were polite and provided attentive service. Each night we were given a jug of fresh water. There was a good selection of wine available by the bottle or glass. Bread was also provided each day.

We tried to make reservation for this hotel, but they just told us to come at 8:30, so that is what we did. Once arrived, they told us that they weren't sure that they could serve us since a big group was already upstair. After explaining us that we tried to make a reservation, they did accept us. It took 30 min for the waitress to take our order, 15 more to take our drinks order, then 30 more to bring us our plate, that was really small for the price we paid. All in all, we stayed 2 hours for only a main course, that wasn't bad but wasn't worth the wait either. There are some nice restaurant around, and would definitely recommend to go there instead.

Una buena variedad de comida excelente. El personal es muy amable y servicial. Una gran carta de vinos. Lo único malo era la escasa variedad de sidra en el bar. Probablemente afectaría a otros, pero nosotros folk del país del oeste no como nuestra sidra....

Not a lot of atmosphere, limited menu, a waitress that looked harassed and didn't smile once. Food was quite nice, but nothing to make you want to go back!

Initial impression good with lovely surroundings. Spoiled by lack of staff to meet and greet even though I had booked ahead. Large characterless restaurant with mediocre food. Very disappointing.

Butternut squash salad starter is bland until you ask for balsamic glaze (then all the flavours come out and it's lovely). Steak was succulent and well cooked, served with loads of creamy mash and two big mushrooms. Lowest cost red wine (Shiraz £19.50) is totally moreish - a bit too easy to drink! Great for coeliacs too, they totally understand the dietary requirements and are very reassuring about the avoidance of cross-contamination.

First thing - empty at least 7 mixed tables free THIS WAS Empty AT LIKE 945 AM , Staff looked down their nose as if we knew they were FULL! Then said after being approached- we are full , never even asked what we wanted - and that would have been what 15 minute drink? We had no wish to eat I am shocked in attitude and ethos of the place - would not be willing to recommend or re visit

We booked afternoon tea for four about a week in advance, this was dealt with by the event organiser who couldn't have been more helpful, When we arrived the staff were waiting for us and conducted us to the old library where a single table was prepared for us. We had expected to be in the restaurant and to have a private room was a real treat. Our party included a vegetarian and a gluten intolerant guest. The Chef had prepared separate plates of sandwiches for these two as well as a seperate stand of glutent free cakes. There was a good variety of sandwiches which were obviously freshly prepared and well presented, the cakes and sweets were varied and excellent. The service was A1 and unobtrusive, fresh tea being brought in on request. We all really ate too much, but the food was so nice we just had to clear the plates :-) A very special afternoon for us and we shall return. We do enjoy an afternoon tea when we can ~ our overall service experience here was far better then at Woburn, much quieter and personal than that at Frosts at Willington and better service and fresher food than the at the Swan in Bedford,

We ate here whilst staying at the hotel. It was during a Wedding Reception. We were warned ahead of time that there may be a delay in the food arriving. However we felt that there was no perceptible delay. The food we ate was delicious! The Staff were very friendly and approachable.
