Very good, straight forward pub food in a traditional local pub environment. Welcoming staff, and reasonable speed of service. What’s not to like - good burger and fishcakes at fair price in convivial atmosphere.. easy walk for us so we’ll be back again. More guest ales might not be feasible with customer cross section but a lovely place nonetheless. Cheers!

My Son arranged a catch up meal with us and his girlfriend. It was our first visit and wasn't sure what to expect. Due to Covid they had a one way rule in place but as you entered there was hand sanitiser and tissues. A member of staff showed us to our table. All tables were reserved and a safe distance apart. Service was quick and friendly. They were under staffed due to a member of staff phoning in sick but the chap taking the food orders was friendly and quick even tho he tending to the bar too. Food was typical pub food but it was tasty and hot.

We went to this pub for an evening meal. The TV was on and competing for attention with the multiple speakers which were blaring out disco music, even in the loos. The staff were friendly and turned off the speaker right above our table when we said we could not hear each other talking. I think this might be a nice pub if you are part of the local youth and just above legal drinking age but it is not a good place to eat dinner. The food was poor to low quality and all seemed frozen and tasteless. I had prawns for a starter. 5 tasteless frozen prawns in a tasteless batter for over £7 very disappointing. Why don't you get some fresh prawns and make some batter rather than serving the cheapest frozen prawns and then the price might be justifiable. Main courses were not very interesting, burger, pub pizza, etc. I went for the mixed grill. Sadly that was another disappointment. It was basically what you would get at a greasy spoon cafe but with an £18 price tag. Two cheap frozen sausages, two rashers of bacon, a small spoon full of watery mushrooms, a cheap tomato, some frozen chips, a fried egg, a thin slice of black pudding and half of very tough and gristle filled steak. Every mouthful of the steak had tough sinew woven through it and needed spitting out as it was impossible to chew. The plastic bottle of Happy Shoppers ketchup with the £1 price label was an indication of their quality concerns. In summery, this is a local lads pub and probably fine for a pint but do not waste your time or money coming here for food. If they spent a fraction more on the ingredients or tried getting some fresh vegetables and doing some proper cooking with a little more effort on preparation they might get more people eating here, We were the only people eating on a Friday evening. £80 bill for three of us which included 1 pint of bitter and two halves of larger, 3 starters and 3 main courses. That was it. We didn't have deserts as they had already proved they were not capable of preparing food. There are 2 Indian restraints, an Italian, a kebab shop, another pub across the road, a brasserie, a pancake place and a Chinese take away are all within two minutes walk and are all worth walking to rather that eating here. There is also an excellent Thai restaurant in Aspley Guise called the Blue Orchid which is the next village about a mile or two away. Sorry Fir Tree pub, we won't be back. I will give 2 stars as the staff were friendly other wise it would have been 1 star only. . .

Wanted a typical English pub and came across The Fir Tree Inn so we stopped for supper. A big English football match was on and combined with a new staff member on her first night the service was a bit erratic but did not spoil our meal. We booked & paid for the ensuite double (they only have 1) around 2 months in advance. When we phoned to confirm the booking a few days before arrival we were told that we had only been booked into the non-ensuite double & the ensuite wasn't available. After a few phone calls back & forth the pub confirmed they had double booked but as our booking was made first they would honour our booking. In hindsight, we should have just cancelled the room at this point & made other arrangment but as we were visiting friends in the village this was the most convenient option.

A relatively 'clicky' locals pub. Decor is not fancy and the surroundings are not plush, but clean and tidy. The food is surprising good for 'pub grub', but don't go expecting anything other than bar maid table service. This is no well rated restaurant with specials boards or matradee. The mixed grill is always good and the pies look fabulous. It's good hearty food. The do have sky TV and show the football if you're looking for somewhere to watch a match. A small area outside the front to sit if the weather is nice. Limited parking but you can normally find a space across the road. If you're looking for a casual drink and perhaps some old fashioned pub grub and a chat with the locals. This is the place to stop in.

The bar area was very nice but we thought the dining area felt a bit like a cafe not a pub dining room. There were bits on the carpets and under the tables. The dining room is small and can seat about 20 people. The service was good and we didn't wait long for our food. It was very good, tasty and hot. We had good portions. We then had desserts. Syrup sponge, fudge cake which was gluten free and ice cream. All in all we enjoyed our visit and would come back again. The meals were well priced around £10 for a main meal.

A prominent, street corner pub on the main road through Woburn Stands, this has never looked very inviting on the numerous occasions when I have driven past previously, but has now undergone something of a refurbishment and looks all together more appealing. As it’s name suggests, accommodation is offered, but it’s not by any means a hotel in the regular sense of the word, but first and foremost a pub.The main bar at the front is an L-shape room and has quite a contemporary appearance, with wooden boards on the floor painted in a shade of duck egg blue, cream wood panelling on the lower part of the walls and a pale khaki green paint above. Seating is a mixture of padded stools at small circular tables, and a bench along the bay window that was liberally scattered with cushions. A few small black and white photographs of the local area were on the walls. A smaller, carpeted room at the rear is more geared up for dining.Food wise, the menu offered a decent enough election of pub grub dishes such as chilli con carne, ham & eggs, scampi & chips, bangers & mash, etc., and these were mostly priced around the £8/£9 mark. In addition to this there was a choice of around ten pizzas. I went for the Thai Green Chicken Curry but this was really quite disappointing. It was about 90% rice with a very runny sauce poured over it and a few small bits of chicken. Going on the presentation of the pub I had expected something a little better and it was certainly not worth £8.95.Beers on tap were Eagle IPA and Bombardier Burning Gold, whilst a third pump appeared unused. The solitary cider was Strongbow, unfortunately. All in all this is a decent enough attempt at reinvigorating something that was quite run down, and the staff were all pleasant and friendly, but it is perhaps a bit too contemporary for those with more traditional tastes and the food was a let-down.

We visited on Saturday evening with friends for a casual dinner. The restaurant is next to the bar and is simply furnished. The bar was relatively empty as most customers seemed to be sitting outside enjoying the summer weather. The menu selection was simple and affordable, with the food turning up well presented and tasty. I had some very nice tempura prawns with a sweet chilli sauce from the starters followed by a green Thai chicken curry from the pub favourites section. We all declined desserts, but the dessert menu looked uncomfortably like pre-made items in a Chinese restaurant. All in all the evening was good, the service was efficient and friendly, the beers were good and our intention is to come back again.

Excellent - service, wine and food! I had the New York chicken which was very tasty and good price. Local ales available (although not my thing!)

Came here with my family and though it was fairly basic, we went for an early lunch, the food was quick to arrive and very good value for money.

Wanted to avoid staying at the numerous budget hotels in the area so was specifically looking something smaller with more character. This pub is a lovely pub, with great staff and as a lone traveller I didn't feel awkward at all having a quiet drink at the bar.Rooms are very basic- reminded me of student accommodation- but it was clean and I had a good night sleep. The pub has clearly had a recent refurb, and I think if the management out a little effort into the rooms they would have a nice little money earner there.Breakfast I the morning was delicious. A choice of cereals, and a delicious full English that I couldn't fault.I would come back here, and would recommend this lovely pub in a really attractive village.

Really nice, friendly pub serving good food. We were staying in the area and the hotel food was a bit pricy so we found the Fir Tree. We had an evening meal there, good service and big portions! Then came back for breakfast two days in a row, £7 for a large breakfast including tea/coffee, everything nicely cooked. Would highly recommend if staying in the area.

The room was clean and a decent size. It's well priced for what it is, and the breakfast is lovely. They offered us cereal and a cooked breakfast which tasted nice. The staff were friendly and efficient. There is also parking on site.

We had a lovely Saturday lunch here and found the pub through Tastecard so it was a great price too. The service and the food were both great and listening to the custiomers around us everyone was in agreement. It has recently undergone renovations and the decor is very pleasant, The staff were very friendly and there is a good range of drinks and real ale available, the coffee was good too.

Over the years we have used many of the pubs in nearby Woburn. However their prices have been creeping up, even the cheapest one which we have used for a couple of years has now increased its prices. Therefore it was a pleasant surprise to find this one in Woburn Sands,As WS is the only the other side of the heath from Woburn it is convenient. The soup was good with a nice roll, whilst those that shared a pizza found that very tasty.

What a great night it was for the un-veiling of the re-furb that this now beautiful pub has gone through. The outside fresh faced and now more modern looking with some great sign written pieces and quotes specific to The Fir Tree. The new look front terraced area a massive improvement from what it once was. The smokers have been moved to the other end of the building with a canopy and heat lamp area for their comfort. The bar and restaurant have had new furniture and a lick of paint to freshen up too with some lovely wall paper in the restaurant. The night itself was great although sadly missed the canapes. Busy and full as you would expect, Dom, Angela and the team working hard and everyone had smiles all round.Well worth a visit and will be back for a meal in the near future.

This place is like Cinderella! Over the years it has been hidden in rags but now she's getting glammed up & is going to be the belle of the ball. Amazing little place that provides everything you seek if you are looking for a friendly, affordable, welcoming family run business. Nice to see that their refurb is coming along too! We cant wait to see the final finish! It's looking amazing so far. All food is (amazingly) cooked on site apparently despite the huge choice & has generous portions for the very reasonable price you pay. We had two roast dinners for £12.95 & they were amazing! Topped only by the fantastic service, great wine, ale & spirit choice. Two fully satisfied (& stuffed) customers who will most definitely be back soon to sample some more of their daily offers.

First thing - empty at least 7 mixed tables free THIS WAS Empty AT LIKE 945 AM , Staff looked down their nose as if we knew they were FULL! Then said after being approached- we are full , never even asked what we wanted - and that would have been what 15 minute drink? We had no wish to eat I am shocked in attitude and ethos of the place - would not be willing to recommend or re visit

We booked afternoon tea for four about a week in advance, this was dealt with by the event organiser who couldn't have been more helpful, When we arrived the staff were waiting for us and conducted us to the old library where a single table was prepared for us. We had expected to be in the restaurant and to have a private room was a real treat. Our party included a vegetarian and a gluten intolerant guest. The Chef had prepared separate plates of sandwiches for these two as well as a seperate stand of glutent free cakes. There was a good variety of sandwiches which were obviously freshly prepared and well presented, the cakes and sweets were varied and excellent. The service was A1 and unobtrusive, fresh tea being brought in on request. We all really ate too much, but the food was so nice we just had to clear the plates :-) A very special afternoon for us and we shall return. We do enjoy an afternoon tea when we can ~ our overall service experience here was far better then at Woburn, much quieter and personal than that at Frosts at Willington and better service and fresher food than the at the Swan in Bedford,

We ate here whilst staying at the hotel. It was during a Wedding Reception. We were warned ahead of time that there may be a delay in the food arriving. However we felt that there was no perceptible delay. The food we ate was delicious! The Staff were very friendly and approachable.
