I left a previous 3 Star review for The Star but I had dinner with my friend last night before the Brush Party event and it was the best food we've had for a long time and the warm welcome we received was lovely. If you are looking for a cosy pub with tasty home cooked food this is definitely the place to go. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Very disappointing evening when booking was told there would be live entertainment there was nothing unless you call Football on the TV it !! Food was very poor and that was the whole party of 15 not just one or two!! Service wasn't the best and we even got the lights turned off while we still sat there making us feel very uncomfortable!!! Promised so much but didn't deliver

Just been taken over again, trying to be more of a restaurant than a pub, food was lovely although not much choice on the menu and feel will they will lose customers because of it, service was great.

Late Friday afternoon visit, prompt & efficient service, pleasantly busy; as weather improves, many customers using outside seating areas at the rear, so no pressure on availability of inside seating. NB: The kitchen is not open every day, or week, best check in advance, to avoid disappointment.

Had the sharing platter, and it was magnificent , so much food.

We had a table for 8 yesterday @ 3pm. Had bit of a wait for our good but the staff were so attentive. Food was worth the wait and desserts were decent portions too. Ella (owners daughter) was amazingly helpful setting up individual bills for us. Definitely go back

Came had roast yesterday been before few times excellent food but yesterday was awful potatoes was so hard beef was so Under cooked cold gravy my partner has been I’ll all night and today because of the food over £100 on meal very poor quality

Amazing food & the staff were really friendly & very accommodating as we were waiting for 2 more people to arrive and it was almost kitchen cut off! We'd been on a very long walk around woburn & the place was recommended to us. Will definitely be going back there next time we're in the area 😊

Went on bank holiday Monday was limited menu but what we had was very tasty and service with a smile so thanx the star 🌟.

*RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY AT BOTTOM OF REVIEW* We visited the star today for lunch for the first time since it’s reopening, we had such high hopes as the decor throughout was greatly improved and we had heard great things about the food in particular the roast dinners when they first opened. We arrived at 1.50pm and had ordered our food by 2:05pm, there were two other tables eating in the restaurant one a table of 4/5 having meals and another who had a cold meat meze, our food still hadn’t arrived at 2:55pm, when I asked if they knew how much longer the food would be I was told it would be soon. When the food eventually arrived at just gone 3pm we were more than disappointed, the burger which was homemade was unfortunately bland and dry and the chips were served freezing cold. The second meal which was jerk chicken and Caribbean rice was absolutely horrendous, the rice was served like a bit of slop of the plate tasting of nothing but cloves and the chicken was black. The chicken was edible but the rice was one of the worst things I have ever tasted in my life and nothing ‘Caribbean’ about it what so ever. After being seated for around an hour and a half I had to go up to the bar to ask for another drink as we were not offered another, I assumed if you are out for a meal in a restaurant the waitress would come to you and ask if you would like another drink but seemingly not. I do have to say the young lady who served us was very pleasant, believe she was the owners daughter but probably shouldn’t be left to run the whole pub by herself. I did make a complaint when paying, the lady offered to call her mum (the owner) to see what could be done but as I explained when I was there we wasn’t after money off the bill I just wanted to make them aware of what a disappointment it had been. When I mentioned the time it had taken for our meal to come out when I made my complaint I was told it was because another table had had a meal, surely it isn’t normal for only one table to be able to eat in a restaurant at a time. I would say maybe you need more than one chef especially on a Saturday but the place was empty other than people watching football and at the bar. Unfortunately due to this experience neither of us will not be visiting again which we were supposed to be with friends in a few weeks. And we will not be recommending to anybody. In response to your reply: You seem to find any negative review you’ve had as ‘disturbing’ - strange response in my opinion. Maybe you just cannot handle negative feedback. As an owner of an establishment you need to learn to be able to take criticism it’s literally part of your job. We didn’t manage to eat all of the food, there was still food left on both plates and my mother actually put some into a nappy sack and put it in her handbag to avoid embarrassment as she does not like to complain which is why I did this after she had left the premises and I went to the bar to pay. And even if we had managed to eat all of the awful food it would have been because it was now 3pm and we hadn’t eaten all day. I went up to the bar after nearly an hour and asked when our food would be coming and your daughter advised ‘soon’ so I am not sure where you are getting that information from. Maybe your daughter didn’t put the order in to the chef when it was made then if the timings do not add up. As I know when I arrived and when I ate as we arranged the meal around my babies feeding times. You may have apparently served 40 meals yesterday but that doesn’t mean I am wrong in what I am saying as I am entitled to an opinion the same as everybody else is. I don’t need to be a sheep and make the same comments as what apparently everybody else did. Like I said to your daughter when I was there ‘I wanted to love it’ but it as awful, this isn’t a vendetta against you I don’t even know you, I have no reason to lie, the food was horrendous and so is your response as a manager and owner - learn to take negative feedback. Maybe people don’t give you it because you respond like a moody child.

I went there with my daughter and two friends to watch the World Cup that was being televised in Australia...We stayed for Sunday lunch after the Football game and the food was well cooked and tasted really lovely. There was plenty of it, even on a small lunch. For the area, the prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere of the pub was friendly and pleasant.

Had a great Sunday Lunch Platter. Compliments from Chef to Chef. Served by Shelley who was attentive, pleasant and made our afternoon a lovely experience. Will be back with friends soon. Highly recommend. Many thanks Michael and Jackie from The Sun.

Great food, very large portions. 👌 Sensibly priced too. Service was a little hap hazard, but very nice staff that wanted you to enjoy your visit. Just needs a little reorganisation and refinement. Would definitely return and highly reccomend.

A lovely looking recently refurbished pub. It looks like it would be gastro style but essentially, it harbours all the usual pub elements - typical pub grub menu and standard glassware. Good selection of spirits and cocktails on offer. Pub grub was good. TV’s around for sports watching and outside area available. It’s nice, clean and new, staff are friendly.

Great little country pub , nice garden , great food and friendly staff

We visited the Star for a family roast dinner a couple of weeks ago, the quality of the food was excellent, good service and lovely clean decor. We will be back!

We have had the best experiences here, the food is awesome, the staff so truly friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble, Kerry and Alex go above and beyond, and Libby is a joy. 5* venue, 5* service, 5* food and drinks

Had a very nice ploughmans lunch here today. Great quality food, service and portion sizes. Will be visiting again soon for lunch and evening meal. I hear the Sunday roasts are awesome too. Thank you it's a 5 Star review from me.

Recently renovation and new owners have led to a decent clean pub, with clean.crisp lager, the food is on the better side of decent pub food and the menu has an reasonable simple selection.

Very pleasantly surprised when we had a family meal out here ... lovely food, beautifully presented, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Would certainly come again when next in the area.

I booked here for Sunday lunch, for me and family. The food was very nice, forgot a side we had ordered but wasn’t the end of the world, reminded a member of staff who then brought it out for us. I found a long hair in my lunch which was intwined in the meat so was not from myself. I put this aside as I was cutting up for my 3 year old. I showed this to staff, where they clearly stated to me that the chefs didn’t have long hair, so was assuming it was mine when it was actually intwined in the lamb when it arrived. Im never a person to complain and the rest of the dinner was great, but when I approached this to management she was very unprofessional, by then we had had already paid the £85 bill. I had told the server my concerns but I had to chase the manager at the bar to raise my concerns. When I finally approached the manager, the most poorest customer service I’ve ever had. Rude and unprofessional, a real shame as thought we would try a local in the area. But I will not be returning.

Visited on Sat 18th Feb with my MiL to be. Came for dinner and to see the lovely Claire sing. We had such a greay time, and it was only my second time there. The ladies behind the bar couldn't do enough for us, and we felt really welcomed. Food was really delicious and fresh, it was the street food menu... but get there early if you want their amazing beef nachos (they make their own nachos!!) as we overheard they had sold out by 8pm! We had a brilliant night and I'm looking forward to going there again.

Loved it. Went for a late Sunday lunch. Had a great table facing a big screen as we wanted to watch football. My wife and I had a roast platter to share which was divine and a very generous helping of tasty vegetables. Also very friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

The star has had a recent chance of owner and a needed freshen up it now looks very clean and very modern! The food is delicious with a great menu and serves the best local sunday lunch. Reasonable price drinks with a nice selection. Bar staff were lovely. Has outside seating with wall heaters and a carpark.

Arrived 5.30pm, loads people + their dogs. Stayed 2 hrs. Really friendly, great atmosphere.

The Stars looking wonderful, the decor is very modern and welcoming. Plenty of places to sit, an outdoor seating area to the rear with outdoor heaters, the land lady is friendly and the pints are decent.

Collected 4 meals on the evening of Friday 13th Feb 2021. The meals were excellent as was the ease of ordering and the service. It was nice to drive away from the town, be able to park easily and be dealt with efficiently. I didn't have to wait behind a load of Uber Eats or similar delivery guys. I can't wait for this pub to open, they always have some great real ale.

Best food in Leighton - Linslade area. Its large portions but of the best tasting food, the pies are amazing and the chicken wrap is worth every penny and more. The Chef is delightful and always comes out to check if your happy. Atmosphere is relaxed and calm. Drinks reasonably priced and come out promptly. Rest room facilities are spotless. Sunday roast is out of this world, best I've ever eaten, ended with me in a food coma and still found room for the creme brulee desert. Third visit in 2 weeks, its my favourite place for lunch or dinner. I never normally recommened on a review to give somewhere a try(check my other reviews), but if your reading this, please do.

Swerve this place. SLOW service, untrained staff, overcooked food. So disappointing. I used to love coming to this place but won't be coming back. They asked us to write our name, address and contact number on a sheet of paper - no data protection, in full view of everyone, just left on the bar, and staff couldn't tell me how it would be stored and for how long. A waitress asked if we wanted our bill within seconds of finishing our dessert - no mention of coffee. She asked the couple on the next table if they wanted their bill and they hadn't even seen the dessert menu. Talk about feel unwelcome! Different management to my last visit and it sadly shows.

Just had another take-away meal from our Local . The Chicken Bacon and Avocado salad with new hot pots . Brilliant - simply the best !!! You have to see their menu - and try - all is good - a great experience .

We tried the Sunday Roast Take-Away from The Star today. We pre-ordered yesterday . It was delicious - meat was good quality, beef was rare and Pork had crispy crackling. Roast potatoes were great as was the cauliflower cheese and gravy. Vegetables well cooked and nice and crisp. They are now doing Fish and Chips which we will try at some point and you can get a take away breakfast from their van. Well worth a trip and felt like a real Sunday treat in these challenging times. Staff friendly and good luck to them as they innovate to survive - we will be back

Fantastic fish and chips tonight. Good portion an very very tasty. Definitely going back to try another takeaway. Let's hope more people keep supporting our local businesses during these difficult times.

Nice Spacious pub with friendly staff and great beer. The tables are made out of old Sowing machines which I though was quite cool.

We attended here for the first time a month ago with some friends for a Sunday lunch.The restaurant was clean and tidy. Toilets were also clean.Staff were helpful, friendly and attentive.Sunday lunch was 2 course set menu. The mains was a traditional roast beef dinner. Was amazing, all home cooked and tasted fresh. Couldn't fault it.Deserts also home made, tasted fresh and were delicious.Have tried to return again. But you have to book in advance as they are usually fully booked..... Signs of a good restaurant!

My husband and I went along there for the Tapes evening.....the selection was suberb, but I was even more impressed by the offer of a 'doggy bag ' as my husband wasn't feeling too well, so the excellent selection can be enjoyed when he feels better. Certainly going to try again, hopefully when '' im ndoors ' feels better

Went to the Star to see the New Year in with Clayton Stevens. He had a few problems so the disco was played longer so not a problem. My kind of music so had a great night. Hog roast was lovely too.

Have had lunch here a couple of times recently. The food was well cooked and the portions were a good size. Will definitely visit again.

The current management has rejuvenated this pub and the food is excellent. Sunday lunch to die for and fortnightly tapas type evenings with dishes reflecting different international cuisines.Remarkable value and brilliant cooking. Good offerings of real ale also add to the attraction. A great local.

Family visit, 6 of us, service was friendly and prompt. Sunday lunch was excellent, pork had slices of very tasty meat and a generous serving of streaky pork with crackling. Vegetables were freshly cooked and piping hot. The boys love extra gravy and they got it! It was so good we booked for the next Sunday too. Puddings were generous..... if you had any room left.

This pub is so very friendly and the food is excellent. The Sunday lunch is amazing the Chef told us the beef comes from Scotland fresh every week certainly tastes like it. You have to try it but beware you will be disappointed if you don’t book.

4 of us went to the star on Sunday lunchtime people had told us how good it was so we thought we would try it. We were delighted the food was excellent and the staff who were all very young were brilliant. We were so happy we have been back twice more midweek and it was just as good 5 stars.

Came in to spend some time with some friends, pleasant atmosphere and great puddings (did not plan to eat, anyway - here we are). ... would definitely come again.

Popped in a few times this month already sometimes for just a drink or sometimes for food as well either way never fails to disappoint. Been there and served by Dawn a few times now and she never fails to give us that 5 star royal treatment such a credit to the pub

Went with friends today for Sunday Lunch, talk about home cooking the food was superb nicely presented and plenty of it and very good price £15.95 for Lunch & Desert nice menu, I had roast beef very tender other had Pork which also looked great and told it was. We will return soon.

We had lunch here today. Five of us. We had booked a table in advance. There’s a limited lunchtime menu. The sandwiches are good, with a small bowl of soup. There wasn’t any granary bread only white. We enjoyed our lunch.

We visited the Star public house and Resturant on Sunday lunchtime 9 Dec three days before my birthday. We were eight in number. The atmosphere in the bar was warm and friendly. We were well received and without exception the staff were friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble.

Not serving food tonight as the chef is on her own and “too busy” as preparing for a Christmas party tomorrow night. Surprisingly the place was empty. Clearly just couldn’t be bothered. Second visit after waiting a year due to terrible service last time. If you want a friendly welcome don’t come here, other nicer and more welcoming pubs in Heath and Reach.

Went back to the Star for my works Christmas do. Have to say the food and service were alot better than went I had been previously. The staff were happy to help and efficient. Really impressed this time. The food was delicious and nicely presented and plenty of it.

I recently visited with 18 of my friends for a Christmas meal and had a brilliant time at The Star. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced, the staff were friendly and we were able to have a laugh with them too. A great atmosphere, lovely locals and well cooked food... What more could you ask for!

We visited with friends and cannot remember a better Sunday lunch. Service from two young men was efficient and friendly and the roast beef to die for. One of our guests had the pork which was also excellent. Loads of vegetables and plenty of gravy! Deserts were varied and tasty and all for£14.95 . Highly recommended.

Quite small but very friendly good Sunday lunch

just started to use this pub again. The real ale is spot on for taste and clarity. The décor of this pub is great and it is ultra clean and tidy. I hope the current owners keep up the good work

This was my first visit to this pub. It was a Friday lunch time and we found there was only one other couple dining. The menu choice was limited and a number of items we ordered were not available but we were offered good alternatives. The food was of good quality, freshly cooked and the quantities were generous. There were cotton table napkins provided which we regard as an indication of a desire to offer good service. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. We were put under no pressure to leave as the pub was open till 11.30pm and the prices were reasonable.

Sadly, not a nice experience. Menu looked good and as prices were fairly high for a pub, we thought meals might have a bit of quality. Not so. The spicy salmon at £15 was smallish, way over cooked and thus dry, served with a shedload of chips and a watery salsa. Mushroom risotto lacked taste and risotto! Together with a barmaid / landlady whose idea of welcoming you to the pub consisted of 'are you eating tonight?', we couldn't get away quickly enough afterwards. Gets two rather than one star as at least our spring rolls starter was nice and we liked the quality knives and forks!!

We visited the Star on Sunday 26 August 2018. Had a wait before we received a call back and was able to book a table for two at 1500 hours.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch! Tender beef lots of lovely veg. Good service. Lounge singer for entertainment. Lovely pud, all for 14.95. Shall return!

Popped along for afternoon lunch on my birthday. The food was amazing, try the Cheese Fondue Sharer. Service attentive, smiles from the staff which is always a bonus. The venue is clean, tidy and it’s good value for money, styled nicely and on trend . Beats a lot of other pubs locally for me. I will be returning. Thank you very much.

A group of us met at the Star for an evening meal. We did book in advance but ordered from the menu when we arrived. The food was very good and served promptly. The surroundings are pleasant and the service extremely good. I will certainly be back and I am happy to recommend this pub/restaurant.
