A family gathering today of 14 including two children. Sunday roast at its best. Good vegan options too. Good desert choices too Our waitress,Lilly, was so very efficient. Always a head of us and our needs. First class !! Well done Lilly. !

Disappointment 😞 We were thrilled to be able to get a table for 6 with no notice. We soon found out why the place was near empty. Within our table order we ordered two chicken caesar salads. When our food arrived the waitress warned to be careful because the plates were hot. (I assumed she meant the plates for the other food not the salads). Well yes you've guessed it the salad was served on very hot plates and the dressing in a very hot jug. I'm not one to complain (yes, really) so I thought I'd just try and eat it. I soon gave up on that idea as the lettuce was limp and browning. After walking around and being ignored by staff with a napkin enabling me to carry the hot plate in hand, i collared the guy on the carvery, who took it back to the kitchen. He returned shortly with my original limp warm salad tipped on a cold plate. (Oh well, like I said, I'm not one to complain) I said to the carvery guy that I'd also need another cold plate as there were two salads. He shuffled back into the kitchen and returned empty handed because the cook had refused because.... and get this...... it's supposed to be hot????? The chicken warm, yes, the lettuce, absolutely not, room temp dress, yep OK. With some embarrassment the guy handed me a plate from the carvery to transfer my hot salad onto myself. I'll say it again, I don't like to complain so felt a little embarrassed doing so.

This place is a disaster, two drinks and two carvery’s for over £50 is an absolute joke!! This carvery isn’t worth even a pound it’s minging the foods bland most time dry and looks like been sat there all day and nothing updated and the chef doesn’t seem happy to be there or to serve! Save your money and go else where as this is shambles!

Oh my goodness - a proper Sunday roast from a carvery at last - with everything home-cooked, fresh and nothing from a freezer! With a choice of 6 roast meats (I opted to have a slice each of 3), roast & mashed potatoes, carrots, parsnips, green veg medley, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, sausage, red cabbage, creamed leeks, cauliflower cheese, gravies and sauces - really amazing value for money. The puddings were again, properly home-made & very generous portions - it fed me all day! Also great service - friendly and fast. Thank you to all at the Ship Inn

Stopped off for dinner after the canal festival Interior of pub decorated well in the line with the name of the pub. The service and quality of the food was outstanding. Even when the pub became extremely busier than expected the staff coped well and remained friendly and professional. Will definitely return again

Been here many times in the past and we've always had great food, excellent service and always feel welcome. Well done to all the staff a real gem in our town. Our most recent visit was for a table of 12 and we were very well looked after and food was amazing as always!

Ate here last night, It was quite quiet for a Saturday. The food was excellent can highly recommend the ribs ! Service was great and all reasonably priced.

Went for a meal expecting a Carvery, but have changed menus recently and carvery is only available on Sundays, the Al a Carte menu has loads of choices and food is of really good quality and freshly cooked with care. (Previous Carvery we had was not so good during the week, so maybe why the change) The staff are well trained, my Partner who is Vegan also had lovely menu choices as well.

We had our wedding meal here, with 25 guests, Christian and his team went out of their way to help plan the day, with extra special touches such as tablecloths and napkins, and the layout of the tables on the day- including one for our wedding cake. The whole day went without a hitch. Pre meal drinks were served and all our various food selections (Starters and Mains) from the menus were cooked to perfection and served in good time, and all hot. All our guests were very happy with the food and service, With the lovely setting in the conservatory room with access to the outside gardens it made our day special - A credit to the Ships team, would recommend. Thanks again to Christian and his superb team of waiting staff and chefs.

Had dinner here with my wife yesterday at 7.00pm. We were very impressed with the standard of food plus the young lady serving was pleasant, I would definitely recommend.

Food was just OK. Overcooked and dry. Service was ok until it got to 10pm where we pretty much told to settle up and leave. Items on menu were not available. Such a shame as this used to be a lovely place to eat. Sadly we won't be back.

I have visited The Ship Inn a few times now and have always found the welcome warm and the service to be polite and friendly. I like the Sunday carvery, good portions. There is plenty of seating inside and out.

We went here on fathers days and had the carvery and it was unreal!!! Best roast we have had at a restaurant! The inside is really nice and loved the detail to the restaurant. And the staff were very friendly and nice. Definitely coming back here!!

Food was tasteless, cold and unappetizing

Hadn't been to the Ship for over a year and were really surprised with the quality of the food, the friendly staff and great atmosphere. Charlotte looked after us really well The Western Burger was delicious, London Pride perfect and amazing puddings. Thinking the focus allowed from not offering a carvery everyday has paid off. We will definitely be back.

I had lunch at The Ship today with my husband. We both had spinach and mushroom pie and dessert. We were both so impressed, the food was delicious, the vegetables beautifully prepared and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It’s a lovely, quirky pub. With a great atmosphere. I highly recommend it, we will be back.

Excellent service and food. We had the mushroom and spinach pie with mash and gravy. Followed by bread and pudding pie with lashings of custard. Nice relaxing atmosphere outside or inside. Friendly staff and relaxed service.

Always helpful and friendly. Lovely staff members. Great food. Lovely place to eat and very pretty in the garden. The best chips ever. If you're not hungry get the chips but also a great menu. Won't be disappointed xxx

Really disappointed with our meal and our service tonight. Firstly they bought out all the adult starters/mains before the children's which working in being FOH manager in catering myself I find bizarre. Then myself and my mum had steak and it was supposed to come with mushrooms .. we didn’t even have 1 whole button mushroom each and the bit we did have was so old it was completely shrivelled! To then go on mums peppercorn sauce was so thick it wouldn’t pour and obviously the mix hadn’t been poured/separated properly as I had hardly any peppercorns and hers was so thick with peppercorns and onions it wouldn’t even pour (Baring in mind they are £30 a meal to not even have a whole button mushroom is shocking). My three year olds burger was so rare that she didn’t even eat any of it (weren’t even asked how we wanted it cooked). They gave us the childrens meal free which I don’t think was enough considering and to top it off we had no apologies or anything. After travelling over two hours today and really looking forward to going for a nice dinner it’s safe to say we left very very disappointed and quite frankly shocked.. on the plus side our steaks were lovely.

We had booked a table for my daughter's 17th birthday because she wanted a carvery. So when we arrived, we were disappointed to find the carvery wasn't on and in Summer, it's only on Sundays. Nevertheless, we stayed for dinner and were very pleasantly surprised! I haven't been here for a long time, so wasn't sure what we were expecting. The food was very nice and tasty. 2 of us had the half grilled chicken and it was lovely. My other daughter had looked at the menu online and wanted the sausages and mash. However, when we looked at the menu, it was new that day! We asked the waitress if there was any chance of having sausages and luckily for my daughter, they still had some, as the menu was only changed that day! Friendly service and good food! 🙂

The Ship Inn is a lovely, if not compact, pub diner. It has a great outside area and the atmosphere on arrival was nice. I was sat at a table that was tacky to touch, I informed the waitress and they said it has to do with the varnish. She handled it well but it didn't take away from quite an uncomfortable feeling of your skin peeling off the table and all the menus sticking to it. I ordered the pork belly which was really not up to standard. The meat was tough and overcooked. The accompanying sides were also a little overcooked. I didn't enjoy the food. The service throughout was good. Id reccomend this place for a few drinks but I won't be eating here again.

This place is so overpriced. Your prices are in the same region as steakhouse chain Bar + Block but the quality is nowhere near. My steak and onion baguette was served cold/warm and overcooked to what was requested. The baguette was just a skinny ememic white 10p baguette. For £11 and extra £1 for sweet potato fries served in a little shopping trolly basket. This was at least £2-3 more than what it should be. It wasn't just the food that left a bad taste in my my mouth, as you're charging £3.75 for half a pint of cider. The beer garden looks good and nicely set out. Bar staff was very pleasant and helpful when I complained about my overcooked baguette. If you want charge like the pros, at least start serving food like them.

The service here was amazing and was relatively collected quickly after ordering( 30 mins ) wasn’t busy at all when we arrived and the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend ordering take away from here.

We went for dinner on 5/04/24, we were 4 adults and 2 kids. One of us has several food allergies and the kitchen and Lily handled it impeccably. Lily was cheerful and polite. Food and atmosphere was amazing. We will certainly come back again and I can't wait to dine outside when it gets warmer

We booked a table for 10 for Mother’s Day. It was our first time eating there and it didn’t disappoint. We had a range of meals between us including the carvey and not one of us had a bad word to say about any of it! The staff were friendly and helpful- there when you needed them but didn’t hover. The manager also had a great sense of humour which added to the atmosphere and our visit. We will definitely be back!

The wait staff were lovely but the man who seated us was on the phone, he paused the call to seat us, didn't even look at us and gave us an adult menu for a less than 2 year old. He didn't even ask if we wanted a high chair and didn't wait around long enough for us to ask for one.

A large group of us visited today (10 adults and 6 under 2’s) and the Ship could not have been more welcoming. They popped us in a large separate area, the waiting staff were really attentive and accommodating. They even have baby food! The adult food was really good and reasonably priced. We’ll definitely be back. It’s great to have such a family friendly pub in Leighton Buzzard walking distance to town

My Daughter and I had a very lovely meal here at the Ship Inn. Our first time eating here and will definitely go back. The staff are friendly and we had a lovely waitress called Cath. She was wonderful. They also have a lovely eating area outside which I cannot wait for the warm weather to arrive so we can enjoy eating outside.

Log this pub. Even went out of their way to make me a fancy cocktail.

Visited the Ship Inn on Valentine's Day for the set menu. The menu had a very good variety of choices. The main course was definitely star of the show, we had the Halibut and was delicious. However, due to being short staffed the service was extremely slow. We arrived at 6:30pm and we had to leave without having the 4th course as the desert didn't come out until 8:30pm. The desert was a bit disappointing as it was advertised as a chocolate fondue with homemade biscuits and strawberries. However, what we received was a bowl of digestive biscuits smothered in chocolate and one strawberry cut in half. As we had to leave after desert due to being in the restaurant over 2 hours and therefore missing out on the 4th course (petit fours and coffee) we did ask if our 2 glasses of lemonade could be removed from the bill in place of the fourth course but unfortunately the manager said this was not possible as once the drinks are added to the bill they cannot be removed. Unfortunately, the couple who were sat on the table next to us waited over an hour for their starters to arrive. However, to end on a positive note! Our waitress was absolutely lovely and was doing a great job considering she was busy going back and forth to the kitchen to chase people's orders. She was very apologetic about the delay in food being brought out and she was always polite. All in all, a bit disappointed with the way the night went. I know it's not always possible but perhaps have too much staff on shift on busy nights like these to allow for staff sickness if possible so that it doesn't affect the diners.

Walked in, needed a table. Waitress were stood about chatting and texting, couldn't really care if we were there. This place has slowly been going downhill in recent years. Food isn't as interesting or presented like it used to be. We live a street away from this place and used to dine regularly... Not anymore

Was awful but new management now apparently. Food was OK but overpriced. Really needs a makeover - sticky tables need to go, “Old Folks Canteen” vibe in the restaurant needs exorcising, lighting needs to be more ambient and it just smells a bit of boiled cabbage. Staff lovely but would have really struggled if full. Spend some money and relaunch?

Finding myself working in the area recently, This was my second visit to the ship, I hope it not my last. Service was great, a small wait sometimes but understandable for a small bar. The staff are passionate and friendly. Food was great, and I can’t wait to take on the Henry 8th burger! Honestly a decent venue.

Really recommend this pub for a birthday dinner. We went on Monday evening not too busy. The food was really good quality with fresh ingredients. The coleslaw looked freshly made aswell as my summer punch mocktail! (Which I recommend) The staff were really friendly and helpful when a staff member was recommending what food my boyfriend couldn't and could have as he is gluten free. They even gave him a folder with list of allergies in which could be handy for anyone.

We always enjoy the Ship Inn at Leighton Buzzard! The Manager is very approachable and very accommodating, as are his staff. The Sunday carvery is one of the family favorites. My teenage granddaughter loves the cauliflower cheese :-) and the sundae desserts are enjoyed by all. The decor nice, with plenty to look at and enjoy with youngsters.

Wiped down our own table but decorated nicely in and out….. quite a minimal approach to our birthday steaks for the cost … this site does not let you post pics easily so placed pics on Trip Advisor…but staff nice 😊 Went back on the 31.01.24. for dinner and it was great.. clean.. lovely staff.. nice food.. reasonably priced.. not sure what has changed ??? Our dog slept under the table and we had a nice Carbonara and Hand Crafted pie with wine … would go again.. thank you 😊

I came today with my grandparents and children for a special birthday. And I am so glad!! We used to come to The Ship all the time but haven’t been since October but we were so impressed. The decor had been renovated, it looked so lovely. The service is always fantastic but the food was even better than normal. We had the carvery and the kids had fish and chips. The meat on the carvery was the best we’ve tasted in a long time, veggies perfect and potatoes crispy. Will definitely be coming back more again! And would recommend thoroughly.

5 adults and two small ones dropped in for a beer and children’s drinks we stayed to enjoy a couple of shared boards. Food was super and the ship was very accommodating when we decided to stay for a while. We will definitely comeback.

We went there for a Carvery on Sunday, 7th, January. We were very impressed by how much we were given and the choice of vegetables. When we are down here again, we will definitely go there for Sunday lunch again!

Awesome portions of meat, this is the first time I have had more meat than veg. The vegetables were lovely, just couldn't get many on my plate lol.

Just had Christmas Dinner here today. Was really nice - we sat in the Admiral Room with the kids and it was really nice. The Christmas dinner was carvery but the meats were really generous and the vegetables were all cooked really well - overall really nice day. Thank you 🙏

Went on a Sunday Great reduced menu to suit all tastes. Carvery was Very well done, beef cooked Slightly Pink Which is great as I Dislike overdone meat, fantastic choice of vegetables, with no restrictions to how many you can choose. Deserts were lovely, shared an ice cream sundae which was plenty. The waitress was very friendly, attentive and hard-working.

Group xmas meal, chose the carvery, absolutely everything was over cooked. The beef was dry, the roasted veg shrivelled & burnt. Sticky toffe pudding was a microwaved sponge pudding with syrup on not sticky toffee. Good job the service & company was great.

Dogs allowed in the bar where we eat, but not in the restaurant. The food is great, good portions and well presented. The only downside is that there is no bitter for sale there is a pricey IPA.9

Food was awful of what they could offer as they had run out of half the menu. Did not seem very clean, tiolets was dirty. Would not return and would not recommend.

What a shame, firstly when I booked I asked for the conservatory area as its large and quite open and there was 16 of us so didn't want to feel cramped in this didn't happen even after being reassured we were put at the back ! We then made our orders for drinks ,starters and mains it was over an hour before we recieved drinks and starters ! We further then waited another hour for mains ,drinks were forgotten and we had to keep asking for them .I understand there was 16 of us but the service was not good and to be honest the food wasn't great looked nothing like the photos online ! They did take off a couple of starters and a couple of drinks off the bill but we were so disappointed and unfortunately will not be returning .

Came for a nice chilled pint and some food after football and the salmon ceaser salad was just what I needed , service was perfect from ella felt really accommodated for she was very professional thank you the ship inn

What a delightful Saturday night out! The four of us were greeted with a friendly smile, an excellent 3-course dinner, the rack of ribs to melt in the mouth, fillet steak so tasty & tender, & the fruit meringue to die for. The chef here clearly takes great pride with his creations & the entire evening was made even more enjoyable, with the ever-smiling & friendly banter with Mikey, who did everything he could to make our visit so special. We have been here before, on several previous occasions & were not disappointed (we never have been). Congratulations to everyone for making our visit so memorable, for all the right reasons!

Food was extremely well prepared and the size of portions was a great suprise (compared to other local pubs). Mussels in white wine sauce were fresh, perfectly cooked and the broth was full of flavour, as well as the ribs from 'tenessee combo' (The rib cut was perfect...meaty and juicy). Onion rings have been our fave (among other pubs). Staff as usual so lovely and attentive. So happy we've changed our plans last night and ended up dinning at The Ship Inn. Thank you Charlotte and all staff.

The fish and chips were delicious. The chips were light fluffy on the inside lovely and crisp on outside.the trio of Sorbet was delicious. The waitress was so polite and so jrlpful. A lovely cosy and welcoming atmosphere . Will definitely eat there again.
