Fabulous Sunday lunch today, everything cooked perfectly, generous portions. Staff were lovely, so friendly & helpful 😊

The kitchen closes at 8pm, so we were rushed, so was the food rushed and not good, we will not be back.

Saturday 28th September 2024 at 02.40am 7 to 8 people fitting outside of pub lots of noise and shouting and bottles being broken, Police were called, what's going on at the pub Sunday 6th November 2022 at 1.16 am, the Web site says your closed, it does not sound like it in Chalk Hill, am I right or wrong , trying to get some sleep call a day When you going to stop Punch Tavern Event at the White Lion Chalk Hill Dunstable LU6 I would recommend you find somewhere else to go when they have a music event here Believe next on on Sat 30th April 2022 as the noise pollution is between 65 to 95 decibels I wish to put a complaint to the White Lion Pub at Chalk Hill and the organisers of the music event today, Saturday 24th July 2021, this event was not advertised locally, none of the local residents were informed, a recording of 86.3 decibels was recorded at 14.00, the speakers appear to be facing most of the residential house. The effect of the loud base sound is causing a disturbance to residences, the spoke person at the event ,did not seems to care about the effect this is having, a request was made to turn the base down, we were told this was not possible, a request was made to point the speakers towards the empty field, we were told that it can not be done, this sound will be going on for 10 hours, we are asking you to speak to the organisers about this complaint. Now another loud music event on the 18th September 2021, no response from owners or promoters concerning the very loud noise in Chalk hill area affecting the local residents LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER EVENT WITHOUT CONSULTING THE LOCAL RESIDENTS , DO WE HAVE TO TO AGAIN ALL HAVE TO VACATE THE CHALK HILL AREA FOR UP TO 12 HOURS DUE TO THE EXCESS NOISE, WHY DO YOU NOT POINT THE SPEAKERS AT THE PUB OR BETTER POINT THEM AT THE FIELD, DO YOU NOT THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN POLITE TO TALK TO THE LOCAL RESIDANTS Saturday 1st october 2022. I am wandering what are the closing times on a Saturday as it was still going after 1am with music playing. And the noise from the car park with people shouting at each other for over an hour, Would be after being served in the pub , but would that be the responsibility of the Punch Taverns Owners of the the White Lion or the resident landlord to advise their customers to take consideration for the local village residences, and not make so much noise when leaving the Establishment, as the noise travels in this hamlet and some people would like to get to sleep at 1.00am in the morning, perhaps Punch Tavern should take some notice

Absolutely disgusting, the worst roast I’ve ever had. Gravy was like slime, chicken unseasoned & everything tasted it had been sitting under a hot counter for 24 hours. It was vile.

There was a clear lack of staff when we arrived and throughout our visit. I specifically asked what veg would be served with the roast and when it was served it was completely different and covered in a sauce that none of the 3 people having the roast liked. All roasts were missing the stuffing and this was brought out when our meals were nearly finished although not one person finished their meal as it was not very nice. The chicken was very dry and the potatoes were soggy and tasteless. Both burgers were also very dry and were served with the biggest ever portion of fries that I have ever had. Our area and others were not cleared up afterwards and we had to remove our glasses and plates ourselves to make room on the table. When settling our bill we let the staff know our concerns and were told they were unable to refund any money as there was no management available to authorise this. All in all it was a very disappointing experience and considering we were there for a birthday meal this was not what we had expected.

Been here several times since we moved to Dunstable. Always very friendly staff. Food has been nice when we've eaten, with a lovely Sunday roast offered. They have live music and a good atmosphere and beer garden.

Came here with a large number of friends for something to eat and drink. Decent menu and friendly staff. OK selection of drinks, a couple of the designated drivers complained there no alcohol free beers, so they had to have a soft drink instead. But that's a small thing. Food came pretty quickly and was fine. The only criticism was that you couldn't turn off the outside patio heater and it was already a warm day. I would revisit.

Went on Sunday 30th June about 1pm for a roast dinner...there was live music and you could watch the England match.....Great atmosphere. I had the Chicken and my partner had the Beef....she mentioned it was a bit fatty...only criticism 😔 We have been many times to The White Lion and will certainly continue.....it's a good pub.

£7 a pint is a bit steep considering other pubs in the area however has great facilities and great staff.

Chloe was fantastic, a great server. Food was very well made and cooked perfectly, Very reasonable prices too. 2 starters, 2 mains and drinks for under £50. Will be going back.

Food so overpriced lasagne £14 10cm square served with nothing!! Plates not cleared had to go to the bar to order dessert, which was served amongst dinner plates that they still werent cleared after they delivered desserts.

Food was awful! I've had better at a whetherspoons. Ordered the BLT which was meant to be on 'farmhouse bloomer bread' but what I got was cheap thin white bread, barely a slice of bacon, some iceberg lettuce thrown in and a ridiculous amount of mayo. The southern fried chicken wrap was inedible because of how much garlic was in it and their was only one member of staff in!

Went on Mother’s Day for a meal, was very last minute but the owners couldn’t be more accommodating. The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. Been back since for drinks - live music and atmosphere was great. Would highly recommend ☺️

Would normally have a good experience but booked for today and wasn't told it was their 1 Yr opening and had very loud life music .Had family visiting but couldn't talk because of loud music .Food was amazing just disappointed we weren't told before hand about life music .would have somewhere else

Worst meal ever ☹️ no wonder the place was empty. Bowl which was too small of linguine with vegetables and chicken, unfortunately completely tasteless virtually no vegetables or chicken and what chicken there was had gristle and was rock solid. Starter was rock solid sourdough couldn’t even cut into it , 2 mouthfuls of mushrooms which had no flavour. Will never go back there

Food was very nice but spoilt with a disco at 6:20 on Saturday evening. So loud you struggled to hear yourself talk. We left early with no desert or 2nd drinks

Booked here with some friends for drinks and bar snacks before headibg out to show at rhe Grove Theatre. We was not disappointed. We booked online easily enough. We was greeted warmly by the bar staff and seated swiftly despite it being busy at that time. The waitress was very polite and had great wine recommendations. We ordered bar snacks which all arrived hot and larger than expected portion sizes. We did go into the garden after eating and really enjoyed the late afternoon sunshine in such pretty surroundings. If we didn't have plans we would have probably stayed much longer. We have booked Sunday lunch for later in the month and look forward to going back.

This is a stunning venue, Refurbished 2 years ago by punch to a very high standard offering pool and darts with a large outside seating/dining area. Lydia was a perfect host although very early in the morning. This place has a great reputation for customer service it's lovely and clean throughout and had a very large carpark Make sure you enter your registration in to the tablet as the carpark is monitored by 3rd party company !! All in all a lovely place for food, drinks and socialising 😎

Sunday roast. Easter Sunday 3pm Just a bit rubbish to be honest. 3 meat roast. Had very obviously been reheated by the microwave up to tepid when it arrived at the table. Chicken was dry and the skin shriveled up yet had no colour to it. Pork was mostly fat and also very dry. Beef was pretty raw and chewy and cut do thick that youde need a steak knife to get through it. Gravy was bisto and cold. As for atmosphere - either people shouting at the football - kids running feral - it the bloke doing live music so loud you couldn't speak to the person next to you without shouting. Table was sticky and didn't feel safe to lean on as it was coming away from the legs. Basically - not somewhere I'd want to revisit Sorry.

Lovely pub been a couple times now on the Monday lunch club with Bingo! Food is delicious and the staff are always very friendly and customer service is great too! Would recommend them whole heartedly

Enjoyed a delicious lunch here today. Had a triple roast which was beautifully cooked and came with a really tasty selection of veg. One of our party had the steak and ale pie which was another hit. Will definitely be going again and would recommend.

Waited ages for service. Beef was still mooing. They brought out our desserts and our table hadn't even been cleared from main meal

Service was excellent. Unfortunately the table next to us was a party and a little bit loud so couldn't hear some of what was being said on my own table. Not the pubs fault. Food was great but I ordered the duo roast and only got 1 slice of each meat. My wife had the chicken and got 2 decent portions of chicken but mine cost more, so a bit disappointed by that

Best place for a night out in Dunstable, Such an amazing atmosphere for a night out and bar staff to cater for whatever drink or shot you could ever want. I’ve never felt unwelcome at any point in my many visits here. Lydia, Gaz and her whole team of staff strive for perfection.

I often bring the family for Sunday dinner here and always have amazing service. The food is great quality, good portion sizes for a great price. We came here on valentines day and had a beautiful 3 course meal. There was a lot of non alcoholic drinks on offer. I would definitely recommend eating here.

We had in our mind to try this place since we moved to the area, as its nearby, and we had high hopes for the place. We went on a Sunday, so we had Sunday roast menu. I ordered the roast beef ( I didn't make it in time to take a picture) unfortunately I had to send it back as I have never seen a Sunday roast more dry, it looked like a wheel rubber (in color and texture) and I had asked for medium rare to which the waiters answered "she will let the chefs know", but it appeared later that the meat was cooked the same way for everyone. I guess you get what you paid for, but again, it was not free, and I rather pay few pounds more to have a decent roast. Maybe they do better with their week menu. The waitress was nice and apologetic, even though it was not her fault and I hope I didn't sound rude.

Three freinds took me here as an early birthday treat for afternoon tea with bingo . After a nice selection of sandwiches cakes and tea the staff then brought a cake with candle having discovered we were celebrating my birthday . ...a lovely thing to do . Thankyou so much for a fun filled afternoon .

This is our new Thursday night spot! We tried the Caribbean night and it was amazing! I couldn’t tell you which was better, both the jerk chicken and mutton were delicious and the Mac and cheese was spot on! We will definitely be back! Staff as always were lovely. Highly recommend!

Decided to go local for some Sunday roast and was told they do a good one. Booking a table was very straight forward and the place was almost food, I was welcomed to my table and had a lovely food. I will definitely coming back 😄

What a lovely night we had for our works Christmas party, the staff especially Lydia went above and beyond to cater for all our needs for all 50 of us. I always love to visit this pub all year around but especially at Christmas, it is always beautifully decorated and makes you feel Cosey . The food was fantastic the staff were all fabulous! Our belly’s were left full we danced until our feet hurt we sang until we had no voices left and we definitely left with sore heads ;) We are already looking in the diary to get the next date already booked in. Superb roast beef Sunday lunch. Well cooked and plenty of everything. Lovely helpful staff. Very busy so waited a while for food. Overall an excellent choice.

Not a good experience, nowhere near as good as it was before Covid. Very basic pub food. Staff were very attentive and friendly, shame about the food, but we are spoilt by the quality of the past.

If I could rate higher than 5* I would. My new favourite go to pub/ restaurant. The staff are so friendly and always give my sons the biggest smile. The food is DELICIOUS and their events are amazing. Also… come on you Lions 🦁 ⚽️ smashing it boys!

Don’t think I could say a bad word about this place! The staff was all very welcoming and delivered one of the best services. I popped down today after work and it was still the best👍🏻 I do have to add that last Sunday I popped down for some lunch and met some of the football team and wow! what a lovely bunch they are. They was all polite and can see why they are chosen to represent the pub.

Me and my mates ordered the tuna and prawn salad and I must say that chef would give Gordon Ramsey a run for his money , prawns were fresh as daisys the salad coundnt have been seasoned any better aswell as the service being top tier I couldn’t help but notice a couple sitting near us complaining about there food I believe there names were Jake and Kerry and I must say never met such snobby people defo just looking for a free meal Thank you to white lion staff for our lunch 👍🏻

Popped in for a bit of food and oh my god, I was not disappointed, I got fish and chips and I promise you now it was better than sex….ok, maybe not better than sex but I’m talking big chunky bits of fish, a lovely bit of fish with gigantic crunchy batter, none of that soggy cr#p you get from most places…. Washed down with a nice cold beer too. Top grub

Hostile atmosphere, we were warned by the taxi driver as he was dropping us off to watch out. He was right, we asked for him to come straight back after 5 mins holding a dirty menu.

Tried this local pub out for my husbands birthday.. The young girls behind the bar didn't crack a smile and seemed unhappy in there work.We booked a table but our booking couldn't be found.The main meals were nice but I had cherry sundae for pudding the cherries were still frozen and the waffle was so hard I couldn't cut it. We couldn't talk as we were deafened by the music from the DJ. The interior was nice and the service was quick we were in and out in 45 mins.

Great Suday roast, best mash ever and good size portions.

Extremely disappointed, no conversation from the girl behind the bar, short measure when serving a pint, up to an inch below the rim, told to find our own table, yet other customers were escorted to their table. When our four roast beef meals arrived, the beef was very overcooked and tough, the roast potatoes I thought were boiled there was no crispness to them at all white, hard and just warm, the veg was soggy and cold the parsnips were rock hard, thank goodness for ready made Yorkshire puddings. It was a total disaster. None of it looked like the photo of the roast beef advertised on the website, false advertising. I really wish I’d thought to take a photo of our meal to compare it with what we should have been presented with. When we were asked how was the meal and said it was terrible were were offered complimentary puddings and a drink each. However it should not be difficult to get pre-made puddings wrong but the crumble was nasty. We were not the only customer who experienced this, you would have thought after we complained there would have been more of an effort made with the following customers. The only good thing was Peter the waiter was very apologetic and couldn’t have been more helpful. This was supposed to be an anniversary treat, I think either a Wetherspoons or Hungry Horse might have been a better option as there was nothing here to make this a treat at all. To think while we were waiting for our meal, we were discussing Christmas and whether to eat there, the answer is clearly no way would I risk spoiling Christmas.

Stopped by for a pint. Quick service and decent beer. Spacious pub and it has outdoor seating, pool table and televised sport. Stopped by again for a beer. Staff were friendly and on the ball. Nice beer garden, too.

Booked a birthday meal with family the staff had decorated the table and area with decorations we had dropped down it looked so lovely nothing was to much trouble for the staff , food was lovely and all the meals came out at the same time which I liked so we all ate together . We have already booked for the next birthday with family .

A fantastic client at an amazing pub.

Cannot fault the staff, they were very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the food was a real let down. We thought we would try out the pub with it being our new local and we had high hopes however, the Sunday roasts were unfortunately almost inedible. The interior is lovely and as mentioned staff are very friendly, it’s such a shame that the food really let it down. We would return but only for drinks next time.

This pub is so nice ! What a little gem. The staff are wonderful and couldn’t do enough for you. It was my sisters birthday on 26/7 and they put balloons and confetti on the table, in my opinion they went over and above of what we expected. The food is good , served promptly and really reasonably priced. The place is clean ,it’s so cared for and looked after with so many thoughtful little touches to make it nice and welcoming , even down to nappies and wipes in the baby changing room, the decoration is lovely and overall just a really nice place to visit. The staff really are an a asset , they were so attentive and friendly. We will defo go back!

Visited the White Lion with a group of colleagues for our end of term celebration and was very, pleasantly surprised by the welcome and excellent service from the friendly staff. There were 26 of us dining and all our orders were served promptly, the food was hot, very tasty and there was plenty of it. We were a little sceptical when booking as recent reviews have not been great due too several changes in management, however, now under new management and we had a fantastic time. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work and ensuring that we were all served at the same time, nothing was too much trouble. Well worth a visit and will be returning with family soon!

Myself and a friend decided to try out the roast dinners, wow ! We started off with chicken strips and halloumi which were lovely! Followed by a chicken and a pork roast with sides. It was all delicious, proper home cooked tasty food! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They also had a singer which was a nice touch! We will definitely be returning to out the rest of the menu
