I have been to Cherry Tree both before and after the management has changed. I like the cosy feel of the interior. Staff friendly and attentive, tables nice and clean. Food was good, but I wasn't "wowed". Good value for money though. I guess it's more of a place to pop out for a drink than to have a full-on lunch or dinner.

This is a lovely pub and hotel in the middle of Braintree!! It's a 15 to 20 minute walk from the pub, and there are bus stops at the station too! The room we had was a good size, with large ensuite and a wardrobe for clothes! Big bed as well! The breakfast is a large choice, including cooked! All portions are large but delicious! Food for lunch or evening in pub is also well made and delicious too!!

New to the area so we are trying all the options. Venue was empty when we went in so took time to view the menu. Offering is vast which often is a concern for me personally. We ordered beef curry, honey chilli chicken, Chicken sweet corn soup and ribs. Over all all dishes were very bland and there was no chilli in the honey chilli chicken. Ribs had plenty of sauce but very little meats on the bones which was a shame.

Disappointed. We have visited the restaurant many times over many years and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately our last visit was disappointing. The service, whilst friendly, was very very slow. The wait between our starters and main was nearly half hour with no explanation. Wine order was forgotten and then dessert took a while to be taken. The restaurant was no busier than we have seen in the past so not sure why things were not as good as usual. The food also did not seem it’s usual standard either. The bread was very poor, the starters were nice but nothing special. The main courses were very poor and underwhelming. We ordered the lobster and the beef wellington, both we felt could have been presented far better. The wellington was small and overcooked and the potatoes we burnt and soggy. It was supposed to be served with a red wine jus, however it tasted like thick bistro. The lobster presentation was also underwhelming, salad in a small glass dish and pile of chips! However the desserts were good. Please can we go back to the lovely homemade bread, exceptional service and high standard of dishes.

Visited on a Monday lunchtime on a drizzly day. A fair few people were there for either a drink or lunch. Beautiful fifteenth century coaching in with lovely atmosphere, full of beams, old furniture, pictures etc. This place oozes charm. Good quality and tasty pub food. All what we had was homemade to include the chips. Always put off when the chips are out of a freezer. Not inexpensive but that does not mean bad value. Nice and helpful lady behind the bar. It’s nice to have a trip out to this pretty village. Used to come to the village when our children were young and eat at a lunchtime/tea shop place called Magnolia then Buckley’s. That closed down a few years back and now without the children this place is great and utterly charming. Will return soon despite the 40 minute drive from the Herts Essex border where we live. Highly recommended.

My husband and I treated ourselves to a curry from here New Year’s Day. It didn’t taste terrible but it wasn’t good either we were really disappointed. My chicken tikka masala was chewy the sauce watery and low and behold I’ve had an upset tummy all night and I still do this morning as does he. Will not be eating from here again :(

Lovely food, don’t get an Indian takeaway that often but will repeat soon. We shared House Special Mixed Biryani, Onion Bhaji, peshwari naan, and vegetable palak. All hot all fresh. Killer bhaji not experienced one so good for a long time.
