Spice Venue in Braintree

Lovely food, don’t get an Indian takeaway that often but will repeat soon. We shared House Special Mixed Biryani, Onion Bhaji, peshwari naan, and vegetable palak. All hot all fresh. Killer bhaji not experienced one so good for a long time.

We have just had a takeaway from here tonight and my daughter found an 8 inch long black hair disgusting 🤢When my son in law phoned to complain they denied having anyone with hair that long gave an £15 refund on over £40 meal will not get a takeaway again from this place .

I tried Spice venue for the first time having lived in Witham all my life. What a huge disappointment. Size of portions were well below average the Shami kebabs being the smallest I'd ever seen, the normal buger patty size kebabs had be minaturised to the size of of golf ball, when I opened the container and saw them I burst out laughing. The chicken in my Chicken Tikka was also minimal. Indian food can vary and every ones tastes are different but blatent small portions are an insult to my hard earned cash. I was so incensed I phoned the owner who arrogantly dismissed everything I said, quite disgracdful. If you are in any doubt this review is not accurate, order some Shami Kebabs and you'll be laughing too...or crying!

So I ordered a mixed grill from them and it turned up 30 minutes late, I opened it up and there was next to nothing in it. I phoned the restaurant and was told..that's our portion sizes if you know a place who gives you more then go there instead. He was basically extremely rude..wont use them again and wouldn't advise anyone else to!

Food was really bad, probably the worst indian I've ever had (and I've had many) everything was either swimming in water or swimming in oil, the food was bland, no spice or seasoning at all. The sag paneer was awful, just watery spinach with a couple of squares of cheese thrown in. It was my first and last visit!!

We ordered a large delivery, the food was not very warm and took a long time. The meat dishes did not consist of lots of meat more sauce than anything. I would not have samosas again very small.

After many years of using another Indian take away in Witham to get my monthly fix and due to the current roadworks situation in town making it an issue to go there, we decided to give Spice Venue a whirl and boy were we Glad we did. The food was fabulous we could not have had a better meal. Our youngest daughter is very fussy but had no issues at all with this. The Keema Nan was full of meat and a great flavour as well. This is now going to be our number one Take away of choice.

Food was stone cold, took over an hour to get delivered. When I complained they offered me to wait for them to cook again, or get something off the next time I wanted to order. Just been offered a pot of rice as the something off. Feel insulted.

Actually ordered a adana kebab from next door but they didn’t do tandoori naan so I cane in here and ordered one. (Adana kebabs a different review ) Very polite and the freshly cooked chilli and garlic naan was cooked large and well. From this experience I’d recommend further investigation of the food here. 🧐

On a business trip to Witham, I had a evening walk from my hotel and felt like having a curry. I saw the 'Spice Venue' and walked in. One person was waiting, so I started to read the menu & was instally welcomed and asked what I wanted to order. After a short while, I ordered a Prawn Rogan Josh, Pilau Rice & Aloo Gobi (£11). My food arrived within about 10 - 15 minutes fater a chat with another customer & had the take-away has added some large poppadom, onion mix and mint dip. The meal was very hot (temperature and spice), which is my preference but the prawns were small unlike my, usual, preference for King Prawns. Overall, a good meal at a reasonable price.

Me and my partner ordered from here on a Saturday night, i had my usual chicken jalfrezi and it was hands down the worst curry I have ever eaten. No spice to it, so plain and boring and it was a horrid mouldy brown colour. My partner had a chicken vindaloo and he said it was nice. Won't be ordering from here again.

Have always had take away Indian food from this place and enjoy it very much.We always have Take Away., delivery is always quick, and food piping hot.

We have been using Spice Venue for many years. Good variety, discounts on food when collecting and paying cash and special offers on Wednesdays and Sundays - the food is excellent which is why we keep going back there. They do deliver also.

No sé cómo ocurrió, pero este lugar ha ido cuesta abajo. Pedí un cordero Naga Johl y cosas para envio a domicilio esta noche. Total de pedidos fue menos de £13.50 (cargo mínimo de entrega), así que fue a casa ofrecemos un acompañamiento. Así que pedí un champiñón bhaji. Cuando la dama entrega presentamos me dio una factura por 16 libras probabilidades. Por lo que llamé el lugar para quejarme y para ser justos con ellos, dijo inmediatamente pagar £13,50. Entonces me enteré que el Naga Johl (que he ordenado muchas veces antes de especias) era básicamente tiras de obviamente cordero tikka que habían sido bañados en salsa caliente y sabía horrible. Lo que se pasó aquí, necesitan conseguir su acto juntos otra vez porque solía ser muy bueno y esta noche era muy pobre, y yo le creo que dos veces a pedido a partir de allí jamás.

Really disappointed. The portion size was tiny. The Chicken Tikka Masala had 5 tiny lumps of chicken in lots of sauce. Such a shame as had high hopes for this. For £22 the food was eaten in a minute so hardly a dinner more the size of a starter.

Awful service! In total we waited 2hours for our food. When we ordered we were told an hour, then delivery time got put back another half hour. When we called they clearly didn't know where our order was, one person said it was out for delivery, then got told he hadn't been cooked yet! No apology or reason why it took so long!

1 hour 50 minutes for delivery!!! Shocking!! And missed an item of the order.

The rice was a bit hard still threw away not impressed

Ordered the meal at 7:59. The delivery time was quoted as before 9:05. I rang them at 9:15 and spoke to a slightly hysterical man who said he would bring it to me himself in 5 minutes. I rang again at 9:30pm and the food arrived at 9:40. It was a very long time to wait and it would have been better if they had called to let me know about the delay but when the food finally did arrive it was very nice. I have tried several indian takeaways in witham and this is far and away the nicest food of all of them. I would order from here again but maybe pick it up myself next time!

Food was cold. Bombay potatoes had hardly any flavour and looked awful. Madras was too hot more like a vindaloo. The chicken omelette was ok.

Absolutely delicious meal, korma was so creamy and naans were lovely. Arrived piping hot, perfect.

I'd rate this the best Indian restaurant in witham, and I always make a point of recommending spice venue to everyone I know, wouldn't eat from anywhere else

I had ordered two rice dishes however only one arrived although I was charged for two.

It never turned up after the man called me to say he was lost and I explained exactly. This is an hour and a half after the conformation of the order.

Shame. First time rice arrived just about warm and korma like water.

Wow what can i say? The food was superb and was that hot on arrival, Spice Venue really is in my opinion the best in this area by far and if I somehow win the Lotto I will be employing them to work in my private quarters :) Thanks Spice venue!! A++++

Ordered this take away for my husband and brother and there was not a scrap left for myself and my sister-in-law when we got back from our night out so very safe to say they thoroughly enjoyed it.
