Yet again Clare and the team smashed it again. Generous servings, outstanding food, brilliant service. My parents were really impressed with everything on Father’s Day, and really reasonably priced. Thank you for a really enjoyable afternoon.

Just experienced an exhilarating quiz night hosted my Amy. She spoke so well and made the quiz enjoyable for me and my friends. The service was also brilliant. Great food and drinks, will definitely recommend to others.

I recently visited the pub with my friends. On arrival we were greeted with happy and friendly faces. Our waitress Lauren was fab and made sure we were always seen to. Our food came out not long after we had ordered and was delicious as always. The atmosphere in the pub is always great and they had a band playing which made the experience even better! Underwhelmed on this visit A group for four ladies who have been coming to TPL for the Christmas menu for the last few years, which is testament in itself. Sadly our visit this year fell below our previous expectations. Firstly, cutlery at our table was dirty, not ideal. Our starters arrived very promptly, but sadly three of us had the prawn cocktail which actually was minuscule scrimps and not the normal expectation of a ‘prawn cocktail’ yes it was fresh and presented okay but a bit underwhelming. Our main course arrived almost immediately after our plates were cleared, previously between courses we have always been asked if we want to wait before the next course. Our mains arrived and three of us had the Christmas Turkey meal, first impressions were its smaller than usual but none the less enough, only one stuffing ball, usually 2, smaller pigs in blankets, three Brussel sprouts, three slices of carrots, (vegetables are cheep after all in comparison to meat) if you are a gravy lover you will need to ask for additional gravy as it’s a minimal amount. It was enjoyable overall but fell below last years quality. Immediately after our plates were cleared, our desserts arrived so once again we felt we were being rushed, never experienced this previously. The lemon meringue tart was very cheep and chemically, hence I chose not to eat mine, however the ice cream served with it was good. Sadly this year, no coffee and mini mince pies served as part of the Christmas menu. Really!! So another cost cutting exercise, so in essence we have paid more for our meal each year and this year being no exception but we received less in the sense of quality and quantity. After being rushed with our courses, staff did not offer more drinks, and never once asked if everything was okay. On a positive the drinks and cocktails on offer were good. I am a regular visitor and I did not recognise any of the staff I have encountered on other visits, so perhaps new inexperienced staff. Overall we left feeling underwhelmed and would suggest we will not be returning next year sadly.

Three times visited here in the last month for lunch and completely delighted with everything about it. On the first occasion we came round with friends who were thoroughly impressed with the food and service and on the other two, my wife and I popped round for a lunch meal. The speed of service was exceptional with some lovely friendly girls bringing the meals to us. The quality of the food was superb and plentiful plus I got a free beer with my Wednesday rack of ribs. The value for money was excellent and we will be back. Thank you Aaron and your team.

My friend and I really enjoyed our visit to this pub. The decor in the Prince Louis is really nice, it feels spacious and bright inside. We came to this pub on a Saturday for a pub lunch, and what a delicious lunch it was! I ordered a cheese and bacon beef burger with chips and my friend ordered a chicken burger and chips. Both of our meals were delicious! The cookie dough is also delicious - that's a must-have if you like sweet treats. The food here was really top-notch. The cocktails were tasty too and well priced at £7 to £8 each. The young guy that served us was friendly and chipper. He always served us with a smile and was easy to talk to. Aswell as seating inside, there is plenty of seating outside (we did not sit outside so cannot really comment too much), but seating outside had a lovely view across the field. Great pub food, great drinks and great decor!

Lovely food ,very welcoming and friendly staff, our party had scampi and chips, sirloin steak and chips and wagyu burger and chips , all of the food was perfectly cooked, we will definitely come here again when we are in the area

We love going to the Prince Louis as it’s within walking distance of our home and the food is excellent. I really wanted to give it 5 stars but the facilities have let it down. The ladies toilets are in need of a serious clean especially by the hand dryer and radiator.

Booked for my 21st birthday meal with family for 16 of us. Food was all amazing and hot. Staff were all amazing, especially Amy F who helped sort out cake and got everything cleared away for us to chill and spent time as a family.

The presentation of a Sunday roast for a decent pub was not what we got Looked like a something came out of a box and out in microwave. You state free veg. Wow few dried peas and carrots along with cabbidge looked like what you feed a rabbit. We have enjoyed many good meals over the years. The last two visits the food quality, presentation and flavour has gone down hill considerably. Sometime places get content. It wasn’t even very busy when we went. My sons meal was really bad quality. That’s our views anyway.

We have just enjoyed a delicious meal as family at the Prince Louis. The food was excellent, all arrived in good time and cooked to perfection. Staff where friendly and helpful. The table service was outstanding with Kim remembering all our orders without having to jot them down. She was attentive without hovering and made sure that we all had everything we needed. A wonderful, relaxing meal. We'll certainly be back.

If you want a relaxed atmosphere, good food & service this is the place. Nathan stood out for us as we didn't have to wait long for anything and when I said it was my friends birthday he bought out some fudge cake with a candle in it and sang happy birthday. That's fantastic customer service!

The bar staff are very rude and blunt. We ordered our drinks and took 30 minutes whilst there was 5 staff behind the bar. Floor manager was very rude to us and didn’t apologise for the wait. He then requested id after the drinks came. He calls his staff fine females and says they work very hard however his words did not correlate correctly.

Excellent service from Josh . Food was fantastic especially the gluten free option. Josh was so relaxed about the gluten free choices which made me feel comfortable . Definitely will be back . Thank you 😊

This is our local pub and it has a lovely atmosphere and the food is always great but its the staff that make it and they really do have a fantastic team! A huge shout out to Elliot, Amy, Jess, Frankie and Nat, always expressed with the service they provide, see you soon!

Went on Saturday night 29th May, seated in booth. We waited around 15 minutes for someone to ask if we wanted to order drinks, but no menu on the table, so had to ask for that. We gave our food order as drinks order given. The person serving our table was unable to hear what we were saying as the music playing was louder than normal.Drinks arrived and all ok. Food came out bit by bit. Then we had one meal luke warm on the outside but stone cold in the middle. Had to go and find a member of staff to let them know. They came and took the meal away. Meal exchanged, when asked if the food was cooked from frozen there was no reply, it was the Risotto. Steak and Ale pie pastry was rock hard, this used to be lovely when individual ones. Despite two other people having steak and chicken, no steak knives given and both chicken pieces had more bone than chicken.Disappointed with meals so unfortunately will not be returning again. Previously gave this pub really good reviews.Birthday celebrations disintegrated.

Lovely to be back in a pub! The garden is beautiful and the food spot on. The poor staff were working flat out but were very friendly and professional. Difficult times for pubs but this a great spot- had to wait a bit for food as they were so busy - but they were very apologetic. We’ll be back. And thanks for accommodating the dog!

Came her for lunch with my family, was a lovely meal and really friendly staff. Covid rules were being kept to really well and felt hygienic and safe. All around good atmosphere and great options on the menu for both adults and little ones. Can't ask for more :)

I've been drinking in this pub for fifteen years and The Prince Louis, as it now is, is the first time it's looked like the pub could work out. All started well for the first year or so, but then from the happy, well managed staff, came the new staff, grumpy, argumentative and bossy. Not really a surprise that the regulars are now noticing the change and it's pretty obvious, that unless something is done quickly, that The Prince Louis will be just like the other pubs that tried.Maybe if they worked out who there target market is then they could recruit around that.Shame!

After booking a table in advance, me & a friend arrived on a Saturday late afternoon and walked through the restaurant to the outside area. A lady very rudely asked if we had a table booked and I said yes. She said ‘if you go back to the host, then I’ll be willing to serve you’ (her name was Claire). We nearly walked out there and then. After booking us in with no manners or personable skills, we were sat at our table. The drinks came quickly and food was nice, however, service from the waiters made the experience feel cold and they were not friendly, polite or upbeat. One waitress was giving out blankets to a group of 6 girls and another 6 guys, I asked if me and my friend could have one and she brought out just one. I will not be returning there in a hurry. Such a shame as it is my local..

My wife and I are not the most regular visitors but we always receive a warm welcome and good service here. It's a spacious modern pub with an excellent choice of food and drinks, Highly recommended and we hope to be back as soon as the government allows.

Once again the Prince Louis came to the rescue when neither of us fancied cooking. A quick check, online, for a table booking. Then a short drive to this haven. Checking in on the NHS QR pasted on the door. Masks on to be taken to the table. Plenty of space between tables albeit that, tonight, wasn’t too busy. Tables extremely clean. Yes, Covid-19 protocol precautions are taken seriously, and we are grateful for that.Orders for drinks taken and delivered very quickly. Likewise the food arrived, piping hot and delicious. My partners steak and chicken was enormous. My skewers of chilli chicken more than adequate with a fantastic fresh salad. Being a non-lover of rice there was a choice of changing to sweet potato fries. However, I am an awkward customer and asked for normal fries. Was it a problem? No way, they are so helpful.A fab evening with really friendly, fast, professional service. Can’t be beaten.

The staff are so rude they need to attend a people skills course. I have just returned from an awful visit, from me not wearing a mask to my child getting off his chair. Rude staff not even giving me the chance to reply or explain. What happened to Be Kind?! Don’t waste your money in this overpriced pub that clearly doesn’t want people in! Go to the Astonomer it’s cheaper and friendlier. The local family pub that doesn’t want children in - shame on you McMullen.

Came for a few pints with friends. They have all the vivid rules in place but super helpful with it ! The table service is quick and Friendly had a problem with some Nachos for the table but sorted with no fuss whatsoever. Great staff great service

Went to this restaurant before we went in holiday and been more and more disappointed and we have been a lot of times. Had a chicken and steak combo both of which looked and tasted like they were cooked the week before. Waitress forgot my coffee which I except happens and is one of those things but don’t think we will be going back as it’s been poor on the last 3 occasions

First time visit and have to say that overall we were impressed. Have to say the bar area by the entrance was quite rowdy so was pleased to see it was a bit calmer towards the back in the restaurant area.Our waiter was very polite and friendly and he was careful to check all our orders fully before he left.Food all arrived pretty quickly and was all nice and fairly good value. Some of the items have the option of a smaller or larger portion - naturally we went for the larger choice. I have to say in the case of the mushroom starter the smaller option will probably be adequate for next time as the larger one was, well large for a starter. On the other hand my larger fish and chips I would say was below average in size (on reflection I wonder if I actually received the smaller one) Anyway both courses were very good. I did not love my cheesecake desert but I guess it’s just a personal preference - will try something else next time. Was a bit put out that we were charged extra for the lemonade that the ladies had in their gins as I feel the cost should include a mixer. Overall we enjoyed our food and it was not a bad price so will likely visit again!

I visited the Prince Louis in Great Notley tonight on my own. The service appeared good at first. But I saw a group of people sat on separate tables. Without warning they were asked to leave which seemed unfair. This is one of the first times I visited the Prince Louis, but I would not go again. The management, which I believe was somebody called Claire and Mercedes (as I heard a lot of the commotion) are not fit for purpose. Being a middle aged man I feel this group were discriminated on because they were younger. I would prefer to spend my money on getting a taxi into Braintree town, even though that would come at an additional cost. Would not recommend for anybody else. From what I heard there was a group of people there earlier of a similar size but they were slightly older and it was completely ignored.

Went for a few drinks and the staff were very unfriendly, being rude to some younger customers for no apparent reason. Will not be returning again.

nicely decorated, nice menu, lots of potential. Hour wait between starters and mains. Rude girl who asked for payment even though we hadn't had our mains and were considering leaving before it arrived as it took so long. When it finally arrived the chicken was just plain, dry chicken, dry chips, steak was literally inedible couldn't even get a knife through it. A lot of time wasted waiting for below average food.

A while back we visited the Princess Charlotte pub in Colchester and were very impressed so decided to give its sister pub, The Prince Louis, a try as it was closer to home.Immediately on entry we were impressed with the covid19 precautions that had been put in place. Felt quite safe in this environment. As a highly vulnerable person I decided not to let the virus take over my life BUT I would be cautious. Seated outside in the warm weather was a bonus under large brollies to shield from the sun. An outside ordering, pay as you order, system from a walled area. Very friendly guy at that point in the set out procedure. Ordered drinks arrived swiftly followed by our food order a little while later. Those servers worked hard to keep everyone happy especially as it became busy with people taking advantage of the cheaper food offer. The menu was limited but that is to be expected in this pandemic crisis. We are lucky that pubs etc are open. My burger was delicious with cheese, jalapenos and a wonderful onion relish in a huge bun with chips and coleslaw. My partners chicken and steak was to her liking with the steak perfect. A nice lunch time meal. Nice pub. Great friendly staff, very professional and swift but, repeat friendly. We will be back. Thanks guys and gals

We booked a table and arrived just as the doors opened at 12pm. All the food came out on time together. Everything was well cooked and well presented. Staff were friendly and competent. All Covid-19 regs adhered too. Thank you Boris for the discount! A place we will return to.

Visited today with my mum and we were very impressed with what has been put in place. Both of us felt very safe. Good food too! Well done to the management and all the team!

TAKE A LOOK AT THE PHOTO AND JUDGE FOR YOUR SELF.Being a regular at the Louis either for a pint lazing in the lovely surroundings or gathering for some food with friends or just the 2 of us I was very disappointed on our recent two visits, this one being the worse. On ordering the chicken, ham and mushroom pie we was expecting an individual pie (cooked to order) with a jug of gravy on the side, what we received was a slice of pie (who knows when it was first cooked) in a soup bowl drowning in gravy not acceptable. The first burger we was served was lukewarm at best. On confronting the waitress (who I won’t name) about the pie she conferred with the manger and we was told this is how it was served and we do things different (WHAT!) I refused to pay for the pie and the price was taken off our bill, the burger was reordered and come back pipping hot and enjoyable. Please please Jacob at Prince Louis don’t read this review and say “we aim to get back to the high standards” just don’t let things like this happen, since reopening this establishment as Prince Louis the staff and management have made this a diamond of great Notley take a look at the poor reviews and act quickly, this is has been the quietist we have seen this pub.

Just had the normal chicken roast on Sunday. The light one, although you wouldn't have known there was plenty and I struggled to eat it but not complaining. Very tasty too. The young lady serving us was very pleasant and friendly too. Good service and the sticky toffee pud that I managed to squeeze in was delish.

We live local and have been lots of times now and never have I felt the need to leave a negative review but every time we’ve been we always say the service isn’t great! Apart from one time we had a girl called Holly and she was great but tonight the service was particularly bad! The meals weren’t too bad apart from my daughters burger which was badly burnt and had to be sent back! This took almost 20 minutes to come back to her and at which point we’d finished our meals! We then all sat there after we’d all finished and waited another 20 minutes for them to come and clear our plates! We wouldn’t mind but the restaurant was almost empty with only 3 tables with customers and the staff just stood there chatting! Not one came over and asked if we needed more drinks or to clear away our plates! We’d normally signal them to come over but just thought we’d wait and see how long it was! Really bad service tonight! Needs addressing as we’re local and would chose to go to the green dragon every time now! Such a shame as would be here all the time if they sorted the service!!!!

I booked this restaurant for a romantic dinner after valentines day. We wasn't disappointed. The food was gorgeous! Very reasonably priced, we had a starter each a main and dessert and 2 drinks each and it only come to £50. What a bargain!! The decor is beautiful and service was on point! We had the waiter Jack B! He was a little sweetheart!!

I had an open mind, for what was a mainly grill based menu. We had a shared starter of grilled chicken and duck which was presented on one plate with three dips. This was okay. The main course choice was a mixture of grilled cod, salmon and prawns. The portions were small and both our portions of salmon and cod had bones in. We had thought these were fillets and de-boned. The chips (more like fries) were warm and peas like pellets. Service was slow and not very attentive. At £30 per head with with dessert and a pint of beer this experience was a bit disappointing.

I met a friend here for lunch on Saturday, although we've been for drinks here before, we've never tried any of the food. After finding a gluten free menu online, I thought it was worth a try. The atmosphere was really nice, the food was served promptly and was really tasty. I ordered the steak & chips (which the waiter double checked were gluten free) and a raspberry lemonade, which was delish! The steak was cooked perfectly and I had a big portion of chips which was great. My friend had the burger & chips, which although wasn't the gluten free one, looked so nice. Really recommend visiting for lunch if you want a girly chat or for a family meal, as there's options for everyone and the gluten free was great!

Out with friends and decided to stop on our way home from London for dinner. Our meal came within 10 mins of ordering and was great. Very tasty Lamb shank and plenty on the plate, great service and value. Well worth a visit.

This was our first visit and our expectations were low as the prices are very cheap and you generally get what you pay for, but what a pleasant surprise! We went on an incredibly busy Saturday eve and the service was spot on. Attentive and efficient. A few more expensive places could learn a few lessons about customer service from them. The food was really tasty and nicely cooked. My dads cod was huge; with flaky fish and crispy batter, my chicken was moist and tasty. The cheesecake was gorgeous. It is pub grub done really well and that’s pretty rare for these big, cheaper chains. We were impressed and will definitely be returning.

Although they claim to be dog friendly, we would describe it as dog tolerant. When we arrived we asked in an abrupt manner if we had a dog with us, we were then waved to a dingy area by the backdrop. The tables & seating in this area is not suitable for having a dog, especially one who is 12inches tall & is used to sitting under the table. Could not fault the food, but the service was a bit off & once we were served we were ignored

Had a meal for 5 on an empty Sunday night and made use of a birthday voucher for a free bottle of wine. Had a great meal but slow service from harry ( harry talk to Molly she knows how to treat people)which is surprising as there were 3 staff for just a few customers. I had to walk across the restaurant to interrupt the staffs conversation to get our bill plus was given a voucher that already had someone’s details filled in - major GDPR breach ! We eat here regularly and never had such poor service however will be back as the food was good as always just feel let down by Harry who seemed to have better things to do rather than look after us.

Visited for a meal tonight first time in the pub won’t be back food was awful, my husband had lamb which was tasteless it came with 2 roast potatoes overcooked veg and a soggy Yorkshire pudding. I had Hunters chicken dry chicken which had been microwaved to melt the cheese which had completely dried the chicken out. Very disappointing as on our doorstep.

Managment are very young and inexperienced, this place is a joke don’t bother going you will be very disappointed, Lots of other good pubs in the area run with professional managers and great atmosphere. This place has no atmosphere and is empty.

Went last friday night. We alm picked the xmas menu, the roast turkey was really lovely and as for dessert wow gorgeous. Had a great time and I really like coming here.

We had our works Christmas meal here last night and it was very good. The roast turkey was delicious and portions very generous. Great value for money too.

17 family members went for a pre xmas meal , the set meal was £22.50 for 4 courses , never been here before but wow what a good choice we made , food was hot , tasty & loads of it . Couldn't fault it , more than worth what we paid . Staff were friendly and efficient & drink prices very reasonable . Would definitely recommend ad definitely will be going back again . We visited on Monday 11th November 2019. We had pre-booked 14 people for a meal and about an hour before we were due there, two more family members asked if they could join us. A quick phone to ask and was told it wasn't a problem.

Moved to the area in April 2019 and was really pleased to find my local pub was so good.

Pleasantly surprised! Not only is this a very welcoming and comfortable pub, it's quirky and full of character. The staff are polite and attentive and the food is great! Would definitely recommend if you value decent service in a relaxing charming venue. Would definitely recommend!

Happened upon this place for lunch and it was very welcoming - had no problem getting a table for 3 at a Sunday Lunchtime. The variety of the menu was really impressive, especially for two of us with dietary requirements. We had two salads and one Sunday Roast which was a generous portion. Excellent value for money and lovely friendly service. Would recommend.

Good value for food. Quick service efficient waitress Madison dealt with all queries and suggested extras to enhance the mezksr. All six of us had a great time.

We had a family reunion meal at the Prince Louis on Friday. There is loads of parking and the decor inside is fab. The kids spent ages looking around at all of the artifacts. There were plenty of staff and the venue is clean. They even have vegan ice cream which was great for my daughter with allergies. My only reason for this to not be a 5 star was that the menu was limited, they forgot my daughter's meal and the kids desserts arrived 5 mins after the rest. I'm not sure why this was but they are only small niggles and we would definitely return in the future.

Visited on Friday 25th October. Table booked for 6pm, food order taken at 6.20pm, food finally arrived at 6.50pm. We had a 10 year old and a 7 year old with us. Such a long time for young children to wait for a meal. 1 child ordered spaghetti bolognaise and was given a knife and fork to eat it with. I asked for a spoon for the bolognaise and she was given a teaspoon. Really? A teaspoon for a 10 year old to eat a main meal with?

Adults had fish, chips, please,with a choice of mushy or garden. Overall very satisfactory and under under a tenner. Nicely presented and portion size satisfactory but not genourous. My photo is before eating.. Chips are skin on and I liked them. Fish looked large but not fleshy. Cooked nicely but too thin. Give me fleshy flakey fish anytime.

We tried this pub today for the first time and were very impressed. The food was beautiful, the pub is lovely and all the young staff were very pleasant and helpful. Can’t wait to return!

Went today for a meal with family and i was disappointed. I have been before and this must have been a bad day . I had the boneless chicken which was very dry and the same with my daughter buttermilk chicken burger. Also we had over an hour wait for food which no one came to apologise. So sadly a lot of money spent with 7 of us.

Fabulous evening here on Sunday bank holiday weekend, great duo JB & Brown were really good, please, please book them again Aaron and Claire!! Great evening sat outside enjoying the music, and the vast gin selection!!

This pub had changed several times but the recent renovations are great. We popped in for lunch and enjoyed a shared chicken platter - i think its a great stop for those visiting the Discovery Centre

We visited her with friends and family for my mother in law Birthday. The menu is extensive and had a good selection. The service was excellent and the food was very good cooked to perfection. Price wise it's not cheap but you get what you pay for. The restaurant layout was spacious and roomy

Fabulous location, fabulous food, fabulous service. The staff were really nice and sat us where we wanted. The pricing was good too.

Stayed near braintree freeport. Around that area there are alot of chain resturants and not too many well advertised independants.

Arrived and picked a table to sit at. Ordered food at bar and drinks. Starters can after about 10 mins so all good. We were just about to start eating our olives and pork pieces when our mains arrived. Plonked on our table so we had to move our starters to one side. Food looked good and the girls said their fish was nice. Unfortunately I had human hair in my dish so I had to take it back. This time it took twice as long to be reserved to me my friends had finished their food and had to wait while I ate my food. I asked the waitress for a refill of my drink but was told I had to go to the bar. Which I did but gave up waiting as so many people ordering drinks. We ordered desert and then went home. Oh and I had to ask for cutlery as there was non in the help yourself baskets. Shame as could have had a great evening but spoilt by being rushed to eat. We would have had more drinks but it was too much trouble to keep getting up from our meal to re order.

I booked a table in this resturant for 1900hrs on a Sunday night. On arrival the resturant was moderatly busy so I waited to be seated. I waited for about 10 minutes, during which time no one came. I person behind the bar shouted to me and my family "some one will be with you soon". After about another 5 minutes two members of staff arrived and took us to the table.

Being locals we have been in for drinks mainly but on the odd occasion, we have been in for dinner. This occasion we decided to come in for dinner and enjoy the usual vibe this pub has to offer. This visit was miles apart from any of the other visits, the restaurant itself was very quiet, the staff seemed very deflated. The manager on was doing nothing to help the staff morale - Short blonde hair, lacking a personality and simply walking backward and forwards to the storeroom out the back on her phone. We have spoken to the owner of the pub on many occasions at the bar and so were shocked to see someone running the pub in their absence who was doing such a bad job. The food as always was nice, we can never fault the food, my wife is a wine drinker. Our experience was ruined simply by the young lady who seemed more interested in sititng down, drinking tea or standing on her phone instead of talking to customers and helping the staff.

Whilst this pub has traded for some years under several names it has previously had terrible management and closed down for some time .

Take your dog into the bar. Good welcome with swift service to our table. Not rushed to prefer . Checked in our orders when eating them Swift service from ordering. Millie good waitress.

I didnt even know this pub/restraunt was here. It was recommended by a work colleague. I am so glad we discovered it. The staff are very attentive but not in your face. The decor is fascinating, everywhere you look there is something to talk about. Its bright and clean. The food was great. I had bbq pork ribs, skin on fries and slaw with side salad and my husband had toad in the hole with veggies. It was all cooked to perfection. Prices are average though £6.95 for a glass of red wine was, I felt, a bit steep. The patio area was full with people enjoying the food, drink and sunny afternoon. Well worth a visit. We will be going back.

We used here last night for a bar snack. The service was very efficient and the food was excellent. I had traditional scampi and chips in the basket . There was plenty of scampi, more than a normal portion. My wife had chicken & bacon & avocado salad which was also very good. Our friends food who we were with was Said how nice their food was. It was good value for money and will certainly be using here again.

Great pub great service! Food got all tastes and great quality. Recommend the Sunday roasts too! Great real ales and lagers served by friendly staff. Recommended for families with a good outdoor eating and drinking area when the sun shines!!!.

We have been coming here weekly and always enjoyed good food. However, the last couple of times have noticed the standard of the food was not as previously. When I told the waiter, we were told to complete the comments card on the way out - this is the first time I have been asked to do this at a restaurant but didn't bother as hoped it was a one off. Last evening we returned. Unfortunately,we noticed that, not only did the food seem dry and tired but that the portion sizes were noticeably smaller too. We told the waitress who just smiled and made a non committal comment. Really not sure we will return if this is really how it's going to be in future which is a shame as it started off so well and was local to us. What's changed?

Nice food and atmosphere. Visit at night for dinner with a friend. Before sitting down, we ordered a cocktail. It took ages to be served and did not come with garnish. After dinner, ordered to gin tonics which supposed to come with berries and mint. Asked for that and after a while waitress brought cocktail back with berries but no mint as they run out of mint. Would have been nice to be told before serving the cocktail for the first time. I might have chosen another one.

Never been in here before and it was getting near 2100 where food stops. We were given a table but to be fair we were not rushed to give our order. All three of us had a nice meal. I hade the ham egg and chips which I could not fault. Service was great and attentive. Personally I could not fault anything.

Place is very welcoming when you arrive we were greeted and taken to a table overlooking the green.

A great place we visit often as it's local for us. Lunch with girlfriends just lovely, great sandwiches and chips, others had meals. All very good value

Had a good pint of McMullens IPA but how does one pint and two apple juices come to a tenner? London prices?

The restaurant and staff were amazing, with quick and friendly service. I was glad that there were vegan options, however I found the 'signature health kick salad' a bit of a let down as it was simply just spinach with a small amount if vegetables and no quinoa in sight. However, a friend had the lentil and spinach burger (which sadly wasn't vegan) and thought it was brilliant.

We’ve enjoyed many meals at the Prince Louis! This time it was for a family celebration with 6 of us. The food was incredible. Most of us had the Sunday roasts which were delicious. Amazing meat, roast potatoes and gravy. The service was fantastic and our waiter was very attentive. Love the funky and unusual decor in the pub too. This is our favourite place to go for special occasions because it’s always faultless. I really recommend the Sunday roasts, rotisserie chicken and hummus sharing starter. There are some really tasty healthy options too and a great variety on the menu.

We attended on Saturday evening for some drinks in the bar area along with my father, wife and our two dogs. The bar area seemed very busy and we were unable to find seats at first, the young guy behind the bar so kindly rearranged tables and chairs to comfortably find us all somewhere to sit! It was customer service to a whole new level and we were blown away and will certainly be back many times in the future to enjoy some more drinks and food as the menu looks very nice also! Thanks for a lovely evening and taking good care of us!

Our first time here and we all really enjoyed it. A good menu, plus a lunch menu of sandwiches etc to choose from. Service was just right and food was really good. We had a circular booth style table which was cosy. Will be going back!

We had booked a table for three to celebrate mother’s day early. Unfortunately, didn’t start well. No-one on front desk and a couple waiting ahead of us. The floors also looked dirty with food left under tables from previous guests. We waited and then was seated, in a corner, near the kitchen doors and toilets. Not great. We ordered drinks and then waited, and waited and waited. Nothing turned up for 20 minutes at which point the front of house manager noticed us and asked if we wanted to order. By then we realised they had lost a grip on the day and we decided to abandon. It’s a real shame because I know they can do better than this. The manager apologised and said he was down two staff; that’s not a good sign and suggests management aren’t on top of their rota or don’t have staff to cover in emergencies. I am writing this in the hope that someone will take notice and get this back on track otherwise we won’t be visiting again.

Well this is my 4th time hear, been recommending to all i know.....ill take that back now though.

I have been here a few times and everytime is the same. Staff are so lazy its unbelievable. The amount of time I have stood at the bar and the bar staff just stand there chatting to eachother and not serve is ridiculous. Price of drinks are way to over priced. Management are super rude and have even heard the manager telling customers to shut up as there is a baby up stairs.

Another fab meal here, calamari and houmous for mixed starters and steak pie with mash and mushy peas and classic cheese burger and chips. Will be back soon.

Went for dinner on a Saturday night, table was prebooked. Arrived a few minutes early but was seated straight away. Within minutes "Molly" introduced herself and took our drinks order. Drinks appeared very quickly despite how busy the restaurant was.

Last night was the first time I had been here despite living only a few minutes walk away. There was a large crowd of us from work and such a situation can often cause problems with quality and service. But not at the Prince Louis. The food was to a very high standard and the staff both lovely and professional. Will most definitely be returning.

Arrived for a child's birthday meal after having first dropped off balloon and cake. Seated quickly (well it was 4pm and nobody else in). Excellent food, excellent service - overall excellent experience. Will return.
