The best restaurants in Babergh East of England

I loved this place when it first opened - but sorry - you have gone down hill - I have had 2 chilli jacket potato take-aways now - thought the 1st one was just of a bit of a mistake - didn't want to complain in case it got somebody in trouble - but now had a 2nd one! How can you honestly charge that for a tablespoon of chilli on a potato!?

I have just been to the Ram for a Sunday roast I had the beef and it was excellent my wife had the turkey and she said hers was excellent to. We also had a sweet each which was just as lovely. Darcy and Henry served us and they were terrific cannot recommend it enough well worth a visit.

Visited after a Saturday morning Great Cornard parkrun, along with many other runners. Plenty of space, seating (including high chairs), very nicely looked after, with barista coffee and snacks. Oat milk available for vegan hot drinks.

Lovely pub, great garden out the back. Locals friendly, gets busy, but was an Easter Sunday, so to be expected. Friendly bar staff, great food. Perfect location for the nearby lake! Dog friendly

Food was delicious but we had a 2 and 1/2 hr wait for the delivery! When ordering at 6.40pm we were told it would arrive between 7pm and 8.30pm… it arrived at 9.10pm!! Gone past the hungry stage. They shouldn’t promise a time if they can’t deliver and they shouldn’t take orders if they can’t stick to the times they have given.

Wonderful welcome from the hosts. The staff were friendly and very helpful. First time in a restaurant with our four legged friend Roxy (a very reactive Jack Russell), the staff were amazing with her and we felt relaxed. Lovely choice and quality of food beautifully presented. We had an excellent meal catching up. The village is delightful. Thank you everyone.

So much potential but all the food tasted the same - bland and no spice. Such a shame. Not recommend if you like spicy food

Booked a table in advance. Only to be told on arrival that the kitchen was closed. Rubbish customer service. Don’t bother.

We called in for a pint and light lunch after a morning’s country walk and were not disappointed. This is a ‘proper’ pub that also serves a limited range of food and it is in a rural location. It is good to see it surviving...

I have been going to Sweetmeats for chocolates for the special occasion for 30 years now and every time has been memorable. Most recently I bought several boxes of chocolates for the staff at the Dialysis Centre and so much were they enjoyed that several staff have since made the journey across from Cambridge just to stock up. The selection is exquisite, the portions gargantuan, the flavours sublime with a wonderful range of colour and texture that is mouth-watering. It takes all my reserves of self-restraint to restrict myself to just the special occasion or by now I would be huge! Thank you for maintaining such a wonderful traditon of the chocolate-makers' art, with produce that so beautifuly matches the heritage and architecture of our surroundings. Ordered takeaway for delivery at 5.05pm, told delivery will be within 1 hour. At 6.45 I call and am told it will be about 10-15 mins as doing another delivery first. I advise that will be two hours almost when you said within an hour and the guy reacted as if I was out of order for complaining. He wasn’t bothered. Never take customers for granted or you will lose them and this will be the last time I use them. Have been told the new Indian is much better by neighbours so that is where I shall go.

Have been before and the food was great. Went for cooked breakfast told no hash browns and the worst cooked breakfast, one choice of eggs scrambled swimming in water and loaded with milk. Bacon was cheap fatty value bacon and bread was brown value drenched in the soggy water of the scrambled eggs… for the price wouldn’t go back considering Breeze in Witham has the best breakfast always packed and at a fraction of the price…. Shame as location this place has the potential but lacks in the food
