We stopped here for a drink and chips, a great little place, a fantastic atmosphere and the staff really friendly. The food caller had a good sense of humour, making people chuckle. It's just a cool place to hang out a bit after a good ride out!
Since my original understated review 3x months ago, I have since been a regular at this very friendly and cheerfully staffed public house.
It's unique selling point is the several generously sized TV screens showing a variety of Sports interest coverage.
But it has shown itself to be a comfortable assembly space for Family get-togethers, and even a Karaoke evening using the TV screen as Lyric prompter.
Seating + Tables are comfortable, Toilets are clean and modern.
A separate walk-through Pool Table room with serving hatch to bar, and a generously sized Twin Dart Board Alcove section in full view of Bar for supervision aspect.
Visited for lunch after seeing good reviews online. Looks cute but left rather disappointed. No proper food available, just a few pastrys, ordered two & was given an incorrect order. Hot chocolate just tasted like warm milk. :(
Found on Brit Stops. Arrived and felt very welcomed. Parking at rear of the pub. Only neg, no cask ale, but good lagers with multiple choices. Food was excellent, and great value. Parked up overnight and back tomorrow evening after the National Arboretum VE day events. The NA is just 11 miles away. Highly recommend a visit to both.
GONE! despite a website that let me download a menu and details of opening times, I arrived to find an empty building available to let so went to the Old Forge instead.
We have eaten in dining room many times, always super tasty and nice and hot. But today due to illness, Carol kindly did us a fabulous take away, generous and tasty as always.
Throughly recommend this marvelous pub, and wonderful staff.
Many thanks Christine and Pat x

I have just been there with my family for mother's day. Initially we booked in to the Old Chequers Inn (the sister pub as their social media says) to be told it wasn't there we were booked in to but there was availability at Poplar Farm. When we got there we were told the first drinks were om the chef due to the confusion which we all appreciated. We realised that they were linked and had the same menu so wonder if we were supposed to be here initially but that was never communicated at the time, someone had our booking but noone wanted to admit to it.
We then had to wait 45 minutes to order our starter, and then had then another 30ish minutes between the starter and main. I am not unreasonable and accept they were busy due to Mothers Day but I feel that is no excuse for poor customer service, especially when we had been so put out in the first place.
When my mother went to them at the end to explain where the confusion came from with the intention of giving polite constructive criticism, she was told it was her fault and the lady just didn't want to know.
The positives were that the food was lovely and that the portion sizes were more than generous, however the customer service being so poor has meant there are six people here currently who will not be going back.
First come last served, unless you’re a regular and you get your drinks before anyone else didn’t even have to order was brought to straight to their table. Not how a restaurant should be ran, first come first served that’s how it’s meant to work.
