we have recently purchased a holiday home at torksey lock,are local pub is the white swan run by julie and neil ,who are very welcoming to all.we hace eaten here twice now and have been overwhelmed by the portions of home cooked food you get for the price it is absolutely fantastic,it is hard to recommend a dish because we went as a group of 6 and each one of us raved about our own dishes.we will definitely be eating there again and again

My husband brought me to the Black Swan for a special Valentines dinner and the food was so good that we booked to bring family members here for a birthday meal. Although our guests have all lived in the Newark area for many years they had never heard of The Black Swan, but they were all full of praise for the wonderful food and the welcoming staff.

Este restaurante escondido, excéntricamente decorado fue una sorpresa encantadora. Ambos comimos carne para el plato principal: se cocinó exactamente a nuestra especificación (medio raro) y fue uno de los mejores - degustación que hemos tenido. Esto lo describí a la habilidad de Victor Vella para sacar el mejor provecho de sus platos sin elaboración innecesaria, y su uso de los mejores productos locales disponibles: las verduras, en particular las patatas, tenían un sabor distinto y delicioso. Mi esposa estaba muy contenida y no tenía pudín. Yo, por otro lado, tenía una versión maravillosa de pan y mantequilla, que era una delicia. El precio del almuerzo era absurdamente bajo (Victor está en peligro de engañarse a sí mismo, y debería subir sus precios). Una comida muy memorable por todas las razones correctas.

Food not as described on menu, limited amount of chips, definitely not value for money

We visited for the first time today for Sunday dinner and were not disappointed. We were met with a warm welcome as soon as we arrived and shown to our table where our drinks order was taken in a timely manner. The menu was varied and delicious: I had the pan-fried sea bass and my husband had the burger. Our kids had the children’s menu which was equally as good. We were served by Freya and Erin who were both polite and efficient. We will definitely be calling again 😊

Visited for lunch with my husband on bank holiday Monday and both chose steak and ale pie. Unfortunately neither of us could cut through the top crust of the pie and the meat was very dry and hard. Spoke to the waiting staff and he said he would speak to the chef but we were given no feedback from the kitchen. Very disappointing and would not recommend.

Menú de buen tamaño, no es grande pero una buena opción. El entrante de salmón ahumado y gambas era de excelente calidad. El pastel tenía una buena porción de carne tierna y deliciosa salsa. La carta de vinos también era pequeña, pero una buena opción y el vino tinto cayó muy bien. El servicio fue rápido y amable. Muy buena relación calidad-precio. Muy recomendable.

Fantastic place to have nice beer and you can also get fantastic quality home cooked food to takeaway. The fish, chips, mush peas and onion rings I had was great value and high quality

Visité para el almuerzo dominical con mi marido esta semana, y aunque no suelo dejar comentarios, me sentí obligado a darle a The Green Man un pozo - merecía cinco estrellas. Fuimos atendidos por una encantadora señora llamada Celia, que nos dio muy honestamente la mejor experiencia gastronómica que hemos tenido. Ella era increíblemente cálida, servicial y paciente mientras nos hablaba a través de las opciones de asado, ayudándonos en última instancia a elegir la carne asada y el cordero asado — ¡ambos eran absolutamente deliciosos! Recomiendo encarecidamente una visita, ¡volveremos!

Had a carvery here a couple of days ago the food was absolutely shocking. The amount of food they cooked that was just left out was horrendous there was so much food and barley anyone in the restaurant why cook so much food for it just to be left out for so many hours for it just to go cold. It’s just ridiculously. The carvery from here was just disgusting it was un edible the meat was very over cooked , chewy and just out right cold. The food was just cold and basically inedible. Spent a while waiting for a table when booked for a certain time and there was barely anyone in the restaurant. Really unhappy with the quality and the service of the food from this establishment. Won’t be eating here again anytime soon it was horrible.

Nice food, better than most pub grub we've experienced recently. Good service and pleasant staff. Definitely visit again.

Wrong drink and wrong breakfast roll. Driver was great.
