Wonderful service and the food was fantastic, I can't recommend enough. Looking forward to my next visit!

A group of 4 of us came in for a Sunday dinner for the first time today, it was incredible. Fantastic service, amazing food, great atmosphere and well priced. Had a fab time will definitely be back.

Food as always was piping hot, tasty and nicely presented. Nice atmosphere with polite staff and good service.

To start..the pub absolutely beautiful it's a proper English pub .from old milk churns to horse and carriage lights old irons to Winston Churchill portraits.. service..out of this world so quick and so knowledgeable..the food is incredible I will say try the cheese burger..you won't be disappointed I guarantee..the atmosphere it's so welcoming the seating is perfect there's more cushions than Dunelm mills..I would say nostalgic and romantic ..it's a must...

The five bells is everything you want. The venue is classy, clean, cosy and a little quirky. The staff were skilled, friendly and accommodating. And the food was delicious... I had the sea bass followed by the crumble. My friend had the fish pie... we cleaned our plates. Worth every single penny. Can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

Love it here its cosy, the food is amazing and best of all I can take the dog and she loves it! Everyone gives her treats why wouldn't you! Recommend.

This pub is one of our favourites we try and visit everytime we are in the UK absolutely great service, food and atmosphere. The Christmas decorations are wonderful

Lovely christmas meal, staff were very friendly and helpful, will definately be going back again. The establishment was decorated like a santas groto which really got you in the christmas spirit.

We visited today for the first time, wanting to try somewhere new and this was just perfect. The Christmas decor was enchanting and made the place feel so cozy, I hope they decorate for other events/holidays during the year as this brought so much joy. The car park was limited but there’s loads of on road parking. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and service was excellent. We ordered a roast and the portion was excellent, lots of meat and plentiful. The puddings sounded great but we have tons of chocolate at home because of Christmas so we opted out of these. The atmosphere was delightful and we truly had an excellent visit. I hope to return again for a similar, lovely experience.

Sadly this was a disappointed experience, and things have definitely deteriorated in this establishment over the last couple of years. We had specifically booked to have the Christmas menu on 23rd Dec, and had discussed this request with the staff member when the booking was made. When we arrived on 23rd we were informed the Christmas menu was no longer available, and had it in fact ceased the day before. Why were we not told about this previously? We consequently had to order off of the standard menu, however, the quality of the food was somewhat disappointing, and average at best. They were clearly under staffed in the bar as well. We sat with empty glasses for most of the time we were there, and nobody seemed interested in asking if we would like another drink. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing experience. We have been going to the Five Bells for a pre Christmas lunch for many many years, but sadly we will now being finding an alternative location.

A lovely meal out with friends for Xmas. Turkey dinner and cheesecake for dessert very nice! Fantastically decorated for the season seems to have more every year! A bit like Santa's grotto has you walk in. Very busy, and some staff seemed a little stressed but can't complain about anything.

Traditional cosy pub serving great food with friendly staff

Hands down this absolute gem of a pub is one of our favourite places to go for really good food, wonderful atmosphere and fantastic service in Lincolnshire. Every customer is made to feel welcome on arrival, the menu is varied and can meet the needs of meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. The staff are friendly and communicative and great at their jobs. There's a really good selection of drinks available and even when the pubs really busy (always worth booking a table ahead of time because it's such a popular place), the atmosphere is cosy without feeling packed or too noisy. We only wish the owners had more places like this dotted around the county!

This is our third time visiting the 5 Bells and we should have written a review on the first visit. If you want excellent service, fantastic food and amazing ambience, to be greeted by Mark the manager who will remember you from your first visit, remember your name/drink/food, who would not want to be greeted by this service So to everybody out there who wants to go to an amazing pub/restaurant then this is the place to be. Cannot rate highly enough

Lovely quirky pub, friendly staff and nice food.

We've been there 3 times now, and I've had a different meal each time, they've all been excellent, and I'm not easily pleased! We're going again next Friday with guests.

Christmas is truly magical here. Totally worth it!

We went to this place for a significant birthday,for my mother in law,there were 12 of us in all with 2 children included,they were brilliant with us even though the place was completely booked and really busy,although they did try and give me a half of lemonade instead of an Archers and lemonade (twice)but it was so busy they couldn’t hear properly,it was sorted out very quickly though & was quite funny!!! The place was very well decorated for Christmas,it looked very festive and I especially liked the birds singing in the ladies rest room (not sure about the mens) The food was delicious,well presented and despite the fact it was busy we didn’t have to wait long. The staff were brilliant as well and very much entered into the general high spirits of the children big and small,old and young. I had the turkey which I can definitely recommend along with the wonderful cauliflower cheese. So basically lovely food,excellent service, friendly,relaxing and festive atmosphere. Thank you very much to all the staff,but also a thank you to Sarah for looking after us so well.

We came to The Five Bells following a friend recommendation whilst staying in Lincolnshire to visit friends. We came with four adults and one child and our experience exceeded a 5* rating! The restaurant itself was beautiful, incredible Christmas decorations filled the restaurant from the entrance all the way through! Even the bathrooms were beautiful with a bird/nature theme and even bird noises. It was very relaxing to say the least! The food was delicious! It’s a shame we only had mains as I reckon the starters and deserts would’ve been fab. Excellent menu with something for everyone and the children’s menu was also fab. The service was brilliant. Very prompt and speedy but not taking away from the quality of the food. The staff were amazing. Very chatty and funny and in general we felt very welcomed. Please come here if you get the chance. You will not be disappointed!

I had the unfortunate event of a tire blowing down the road not far from this pub, in a panic I pulled over, while deciding what to do I remembered what my granddad told me: If you break down, break down in front of a pub, you'll be warm, they'll always know people in the area that can help and you can have a pint while you wait. The Managers/Owners of the pub were so helpful, additionally, so were the locals. if you're looking for somewhere to eat or looking to go somewhere different for a drink then do stop by this place as its a hidden gem. Big thank you to everyone from this pub that helped me.

Food was very poor we go out most Sundays this was the worst it's like a buffet/ carvery no presentation poor quality disappointed puddings went back and removed from the bill

In my opinion, this is the best pub for food in/around Lincoln. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The attention to detail with the service is spot on. There's a good menu selection, the food is delicious and the interior decor cosy. Whether it's a special occasion or regular night out, this place hits the mark.

What a lovely pub! The atmosphere is lovely, pub is bigger than it looks from the outside but has a welcoming and cosy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the banter from the bar manager great fun. Our dog got five star treatment as well and, to us, that's always a sign of a great place. Food and service excellent.

Such a lovely quaint pub with a real cosy feel. The food was excellent and the portions were a good size. I also had a beautiful glass of Malbec to accompany my roast lamb. Dessert was a tasty apple and berry crumble with custard.

We had a party of 19 guests, we pre-ordered the mains and desserts. There were 3 young guests and 16 adults, we were booked in for 6.00pm and the food was due at 6.15pm. The food arrived piping hot and on time for every guest and it was delicious. The desserts were equally tasty .Mark and all his team went out of their way to ensure we had a truly great evening. Many thanks to them all, we will return...

I've been going to Five bells for years and food has been always amazing but this time was a let down which is a shame because it is a fantastic place to go to, very cosy and wonderful staff

The 5 Bells is a delightful place to visit. My partner & I booked a table for the evening and upon arrival were greeted with a smile and immediately made to feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were super friendly, very polite & clearly wanted us to enjoy our dining experience. The food was spot on, generous portions & served in no time. The wine was equally as lovely and the pub itself is so quaint & cosy. We really enjoyed it and will definitely go back. I feel I have to mention the ladies loo’s as they deserve a special recognition. It’s not something I’d normally mention in a review but wow! Just wow! Someone’s gone to a lot of trouble and I have to say it’s very much appreciated, ladies if you visit the 5 bells a visit to the loo is a must and you will see what I mean,wish I’d taken pictures now,maybe next time! ❤️

We went for Sunday lunch at about 4 pm The pub was quite busy we had booked so not a problem. The five bells is a quirky pub unusual decor quite dark but lit with candels' nice atmosphere. There is a good menu. Portion size was a little smaller than we have had before. 3 of us had the Sunday lunch, and we picked from the menu for starters and sweet. I was disappointed in my meal of roast pork. The meat was very good and plenty of it. Unfortunately, there was 1 roast potato, which I could not eat as it was hard. 2 small parsnips hard inedible a yorkshire pudding that was very soggy and hard on the outside a tablespoon of mashed potato and then a small serving of greens and carrot There was a small gratin dish of cauliflower cheese between 4. It was strange that some people had broccoli and some didn't. The plates were not set like other restaurants I had been they had an unskilled look. As we were leaving, I noted other diners plates had a better setting potstoes and veg. I think we had an off day as our friends had been before, and it was better. There is a good menu I would try again, but the cost for 4 of us was over £160 no alcohol 4 soft drinks.

Visited for late lunch on a Wednesday. Friendly team, good menu and food. Busy. 2nd visit and will def be back again

Fantastic meal, had 3 courses not one was disappointing. Good atmosphere, staff attentive. Mark the Manager was not only attentive, gave advise about choices, but had some good banter...loved our night out as a couple. We will definately be back. Thank you Five Bells x

Had Sunday lunch today I had the lamb and plenty of it which was delicious and very tender, my partner had sweet and sour chicken Staff were excellent,the place was very busy but ran like clockwork didn't have to wait long for your food definitely pay another visit !!!! Highly recommend 👌

Walked in and the decor was perfect, so welcoming and interesting to look at, perfect for everyone! The food was as good as can be, starters, mains and deserts were 10/10. The manager mark and rest of the wait staff couldn’t have been nicer and made us feel at home. Perfect place for a romantic meal or to come with the family. Will be coming back as soon as possible!

Best place I’ve been! We went for a date and it was amazing. Someone cancelled so they got us in earlier than we booked, but would highly recommend booking! Because it is so good I doubt there are going to be many days that they are not at full capacity! The vibe is stunning, very cottage core, old cottage, witchy vibe (just my thing!). Mark the manager served us and was absolutely lovely, all the staff are so kind and make the meal even more wonderful. The outside area is a beauty! We have already planned our next two visits and what we are going to order as the whole menu looks amazing! Everything is cooked in house, ensuring everything that it is all fresh and full of flavour! Highly recommend the duck cakes starter and spring rolls, best starters ever had!

This pub is lovely decorated inside but unfortunately the food is not up to this google rating. Ordered Leg of lamb and got tiny tiny mini slices of lamb for £16 Per meal Additionally it wasn’t that great neither. Same day a friend of mine went and sadly said out of 5 meals only 2 was okay.

It’s really important to book a table to avoid disappointment. The staff are friendly & made our dogs very welcome too, water & a treat! It was lovely, cool inside & welcoming on a very hot sunny day. The food is amazing 🤩 we enjoyed the Turkey Sunday roast, my friend had an Eton mess dessert (sundae) & I enjoyed the Bakewell pudding with cherry swirl ice cream, delicious 😋. Also love the traditional charm of the historic building. We highly recommend a visit….

What a find! We travelled up to Lincoln from Berkshire and stumbled across this place. It’s very cosy and comfortable. We hadn’t booked but the staff were lovely and fitted us in as they had had a cancellation. The food was absolutely excellent. I had fish pie and my husband had the steak and ale pie. It was delicious. Oh and they serve a decent pint too. Excellent value for money . Highly recommended!

Absolutely delightful pub. Comfortable, clean, welcoming and interesting. Everything a country pub should be. Booked a table, with dog, for Sunday lunch. Welcomed by lovely efficient staff and had table service throughout our lunch. The food, roasts, was excellent, well presented and very tasty. My wife and I both thought this to be one of the best pubs we have been in for years and look forward to returning.

Received a warm welcome in a cosy environment with a great menu range. Main courses were served fresh and piping hot, and although the restaurant was busy, service was incredible. Desserts were a hit, and I highly recommend the experience (and the coffee)!!

Went here to celebrate moving to the area - had hoped this would be the new local! We ordered several Sunday roasts, a burger, and a chicken dish (we never received this so sadly can't remember what it was supposed to be). Waited well over an hour for our food to arrive. When it did, we were disappointed: some meals were cold and inedible, some had missing items, one order was completely wrong. No apology from the waitress, just an irritated sigh. We had a better response from the manager, although there seemed to be more excuses than apologies. We were later offered a bottle of wine as compensation, and the incorrect meal was taken off the bill. We accepted this out of awkwardness, but in retrospect this didn't cover the inconvenience or the other disappointing/inedible meals. Hugely disappointed: we chose this place based on reviews but had a very negative experience - gutted we didn't see the side everyone else seems to be seeing!

There aren't many pubs I'd score 10/10, but this is one of them !. So atmospheric, comprehensive menu at a reasonable price. Wonderfully friendly service, and a great selection of real ales. My partner and I sat outside eating some of the best fish and chips EVER. 👍

It’s a few years since I’ve been at the Five Bells and I wish I’d come back sooner! Food was amazing and the service was great and also made me smile. Great to see a nice buzz around the place and proper home made food. Well done to the whole team at Five Bells! It’s rare to find places like this these days!

I chose this pub as I had heard good reviews and I was looking for somewhere different and I was not disappointed. On entering the rear car park I noticed there were no parking places and the outside of the pub was decorated with colourful flowers and other seating areas.Upon entering, the pub was obviously busy, unusual for a Wednesday afternoon and following registering our arrival, we were shown to our table.The atmosphere is good, the interior decor reflects by gone days of brass, copper and wooden tables and chairs. Our waiter and bar staff were very friendly and our food was served hot and had good portions.I would definately recommend this pub and we will definately be revisiting.

Food was great , large portions, service good. Bit dark in there for a sunny June day. Had a roast lunch but only one roast potato on my plate! Wots that all about, it was a Sunday lunch.

A re discovery of an old friend. I have been going to the five bells for almost 3 decades, but lost touch with the pub as time moved on. Just rediscovered it, and it was lovely. Like meeting an old friend and nothing had really changed. So wonderful to find a true pub and restaurant again. Food is fantastic, service excellent. I look forward to many more visits to a place I knew so well Thank you.

Two couples meet at regular intervals for a chat, and of course to put the world right. We have been visiting this pub for many years, and it is always a delight to return. Our welcome was warm and rude as Mark was in the entrance way, but we have all got the measure of that old man, and Paige keeps him in control anyway !! I read that some customers have found the food varies, but our visiting is always on a Saturday lunch, and we have had no issues. A delightful pub to visit, and we continue to love the decor and overall atmosphere.

Good that Sunday Lunch is on the menu all on Sunday.

We love this pub. Very traditional and cosy. Plenty of dining space and the food and service is always exceptional. Very friendly and comfortable place to visit for a drink on a hot day outside or a warm drink inside along with a fire.

Second visit. Superb food! Great service...even if the owner doesn't like mushy peas!!! The banter was brilliant! Don't ever change. Had scotch egg as starter, chicken and chorizo linguini main and triple dessert .....im stiffed. Maybe do mushy pea fritters...🤔

The food has been brilliant every time we have visited and they have a really good menu of vegan and vegetarian courses. Great staff who are friendly and add to a welcoming atmosphere. Lovely decor and a great selection of drinks. Would highly recommend!

Sporadically visited the Five Bells for decades, special occasions, the usual kind of thing. Never had cause to complain, ever. The food is always good, affordable and the ambience of the pub is very nice indeed. Had a variety of meals over the years and always returned home satisfied with my feed. Recommended

Had the nut roast as a meal and it was a very good one, I'm not one for taking pictures of meals but a good pint of Guinness is a must.

Took my mum for Sunday lunch having visited last year and had a lovely lunch. Well today wasn't as good. Like the pub and atmosphere and the staff are lovely. Food was disappointing. Waited approx 40 minutes after ordering for food to arrive. I accept they were busy but still felt it was a long wait. Sunday lunch could have been hotter and lacked colour, no carrots or sweed but two lots of cauliflower, one normal and one cauliflower cheese. The turkey was nice though and plentiful. My mum had scampi, the scampi was nice but the chips hard and overdone. Apple and Rhubarb crumble was nice but the custard was too runny and not enough to go with the piece of crumble which one dish had a large piece and the other dish a much smaller portion. Overall a disappointing experience which sadly means I won't be returning soon.

Beautiful and friendly pub, with amazing food selection. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the wait-staff were very kind and courteous. I would highly recommend booking well in a advance for Sunday lunch, but is a Roast not to be missed!

Absolutely fantastic place to visit, food was lovely. We celebrated my dad's 60th and was able to decorate the table and our cake was brought out at the end- service was incredible. We will deffo be visiting again.

I had been by this pub many times passing through and just by chance I looked on Google maps for somewhere to try, this place popped up. My Wife and I had the 3 meat roast(Sunday) . It was perfect , hot and of very good quality. The atmosphere was great as we're the staff, all in all a great inviting place to come to.

A great country pub, with a superb landlord that is very engaging and humorous. The food is sublime. Been here a few times.

Great place if you have Coeliac Disease. I’ve been recently diagnosed so was nervous to eat out. But the owner was very reassuring answering all of my annoying questions. He explained they have 5 fryers and the chips are fried in their own fryer so there’s no risk of cross contamination. I had the fish and chips and crème brûlée, both were delicious. I heard a few others ordering gluten free while we were there too. Just be sure to book in advance as it’s very popular. The only thing I would improve is if they add an allergy flag or label for each plate when they come out, just to make us anxious ones feel a bit safer. Lovely cosy, old pub. Can’t wait to go back.

Visited over weekday lunch time and blown away. A pub like they all used to be, busy and great atmosphere. The food was excellent and a good choice. The effort put in by staff/owner of this venue deserves much praise for their hard work to make it successful.

As usual, mine host and his staff provide excellent food, service, ambience. It's a wonderful place to meet friends and enjoy the occasion. Despite the number of people in the pub this lunchtime - and it was busy - the service was excellent and the food top notch. The host enjoys a banter (and 'insults were traded' in the best of ways), yet efficiency never drops one iota. Thank you so much for allowing the 4 of us to have such fun!

A very warm welcome on arrival by the manager who was very friendly and helpful. We were quickly seated by the lovely fire. I had the delicious home made steak and ale pie, the pastry was perfect. The fish and chips was very tasty and a good size portion.

Met with 2 friends for my birthday meal today. Wonderfully quaint pub with a lively atmosphere. There was plenty of choice and the food was fresh and served piping hot. The five bells came recommended to us for birthday celebrations which we found to be a lovely little pub but unfortunately the Sunday dinner was well below average with either over cooked or under cooked food on the same plate.

Once again we were thoroughly delighted with the whole experience at the Five Bells. The food is excellent - all freshly prepared and a great choice. We were greeted by the manager who was extremely friendly and helpful and the waiting staff were also really attentive. It was my birthday and they helped to make it a special occasion. We also love the decor and ambience of this classic country pub. Very highly recommended.

Enjoyed our meal but didn't feel that wow factor. Food was fine however peas were not cooked well and creme brulé wasn't as smooth as it could have been. Service was slow, which was forgivable when they were busy as there were only two serving all the tables and the bar, but not so forgivable when we were the only ones left. Cleanliness of tables wasn't as good as it could be and the four dead flies on the window sill next to our table didn't add to the ambience.
