Not a regular visitor, but have visited on numerous occasions over the years. Food here is always good, and beer selection is not bad either. Plenty of seating, but always book well in advance for food so as not to be disappointed. Some outside seating, which is either near the roadside or near the carpark, not ideal but ok. Great atmosphere inside and good service, highly recommended.

This is one of the best pubs around. Excellent food, super care and kindness as well as good sense of humour by the staff. Also good with allergies. I had a cheesecake pud...non dairy and no gluten. Never had that option before and it was delicious. Would highly recommend!

Hi Marc, I just wanted to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you. Every time I visit the pub, it’s always such a welcoming and uplifting experience because of the incredible staff — but especially because of you. The other night, my partner and I came in feeling pretty low, as her father was sadly on his deathbed (and has since passed away). You treated us with such genuine kindness and warmth that you managed to lift us out of that difficult moment, even if just for a while. You probably didn’t realise how much it meant, but your spirit and the way you connect with people truly make a difference. You’re a special guy, Marc, and I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate you. Thank you for being you. Vincent Gee Tv Presenter

Been to lovely pub many times over the years, but this was our first time for a few years, anyway since covid. The sunday lunch here was always lovely right through lunchtime till evening. Meat came out hot with crispy roasties. Vegs and gravy were always served in separate dishes so you could add as little or as much as you personally wanted. Gravy was always in a gravy boat to help yourself. Properly served meal as it should be. But i ordered lamb roast dinner advertised as fresh slow cooked leg of lamb. What i got was a plated school dinner style meal. Lamb was tough not off a leg as there were three slices round meat the same sizes and texture. Lamb freshly sliced off a roast in the kitchen a few feet awsy would not look like that. As for the taste, not a fresh leg of lamb roast i am sure. There were three soggy roast potatoes not in the slightest crispy, two limp cold parsnips a blob of mash and a few cold carrots. Oh and a yorkshire pudding that i wasnt asked if i wanted with lamb. All of the above doused in gravy the yorkshire pudding swimming in it. It was at best luke warm. The cauliflower cheese which DID come on a separate dish was cold and gloopy. husband had haddock and chips. He said the haddock was excellent but his chips were cold and limp and he left them. They used to offer fat chunky triple fries which were gorgeous. So i ask what has happened to the standards in this lovely pub who we would have recommened and have many times. This canteen served ready plated school dinmer approach and doused in gravy service seems to be somethiing that is accepted in eateries these days. The five bells is the third pub that we used to visit regularly that operates like this now. Each one not too far away is operating similar. Okay what if i dont want gravy on my veg or a pool of gravy in my yorkshire pudding (not even asked if i wanted one with lamb ) i ate very little and asked the waitress to please check see if i had indeed ordered lamb. She said yes i had but the reason it hadnt tasted so much like lamb was because the chef used beef gravy on all his meets. As i remember. That sunday there was a choice of beef lamb turkey and pork. GET IT,, no me neither. That just smacks of lazyness. Why offer different meats if you cant be bothered to make the gravy that enhances their flavour. On the plus side the server was polite courteous and had no problem taking my lamb?? Meal off the bill. Please five bells dont become one of those pile it high sell it cheap chain pubs. You were one of the best and your pub is gorgoues. I want to come back as a regular

The atmosphere was good, with the warm, rustic feel of the pub really adding to the ambience. The service was quick, despite how busy it was, with regular check backs and the head of front of house being especially impressive. He was incredibly personable, funny and caring. Went to the 5 Bells Bassingham for Sunday lunch for the first time. The Pub and restaurant is a very warm welcoming place, with quirky and interesting artifacts and items all around, this makes the whole place a very interesting experience. There is an old well within the pub itself too. The waiting staff are exellent, they are very friendly and smiley. When our Roast lunches arrived, we were very pleased with the appearance and portion size, and the vegetables were also cooked to perfection too, as well as the gorgeous roast meats (Lamb, Beef & Pork). My daughter asked for some extra gravy, our waitress came back very quickly with another jug of gravy, and a smile. Dessert was also wonderful. I cannot praise the 5 Bells too highly. The food was amazing, the staff were wonderful and friendly, the fabric of the whole building is clean, and interestiing. If you are anywhere near Bassingham, you will not find a better place to rest, and eat, and at a very competitive prices too. Well done to you all in the 5 Bells, thank you for a very memorable Sunday lunch.

We visited today for the first time, wanting to try somewhere new and this was just perfect. The Christmas decor was enchanting and made the place feel so cozy, I hope they decorate for other events/holidays during the year as this brought so much joy. The car park was limited but there’s loads of on road parking. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and service was excellent. We ordered a roast and the portion was excellent, lots of meat and plentiful. The puddings sounded great but we have tons of chocolate at home because of Christmas so we opted out of these. The atmosphere was delightful and we truly had an excellent visit. I hope to return again for a similar, lovely experience.

Sadly this was a disappointed experience, and things have definitely deteriorated in this establishment over the last couple of years. We had specifically booked to have the Christmas menu on 23rd Dec, and had discussed this request with the staff member when the booking was made. When we arrived on 23rd we were informed the Christmas menu was no longer available, and had it in fact ceased the day before. Why were we not told about this previously? We consequently had to order off of the standard menu, however, the quality of the food was somewhat disappointing, and average at best. They were clearly under staffed in the bar as well. We sat with empty glasses for most of the time we were there, and nobody seemed interested in asking if we would like another drink. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing experience. We have been going to the Five Bells for a pre Christmas lunch for many many years, but sadly we will now being finding an alternative location.

Every customer is made to feel welcome on arrival, the menu is varied and can meet the needs of meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. The staff are friendly and communicative and great at their jobs. There's a really good selection of drinks available and even when the pubs really busy (always worth booking a table ahead of time because it's such a popular place), the atmosphere is cosy without feeling packed or too noisy. We went for Sunday lunch at about 4 pm The pub was quite busy we had booked so not a problem. The five bells is a quirky pub unusual decor quite dark but lit with candels' nice atmosphere. There is a good menu. Portion size was a little smaller than we have had before. 3 of us had the Sunday lunch, and we picked from the menu for starters and sweet. I was disappointed in my meal of roast pork. The meat was very good and plenty of it. Unfortunately, there was 1 roast potato, which I could not eat as it was hard. 2 small parsnips hard inedible a yorkshire pudding that was very soggy and hard on the outside a tablespoon of mashed potato and then a small serving of greens and carrot There was a small gratin dish of cauliflower cheese between 4. It was strange that some people had broccoli and some didn't. The plates were not set like other restaurants I had been they had an unskilled look. As we were leaving, I noted other diners plates had a better setting potstoes and veg. I think we had an off day as our friends had been before, and it was better. There is a good menu I would try again, but the cost for 4 of us was over £160 no alcohol 4 soft drinks.

Walked in and the decor was perfect, so welcoming and interesting to look at, perfect for everyone! The food was as good as can be, starters, mains and deserts were 10/10. The manager mark and rest of the wait staff couldn’t have been nicer and made us feel at home. Perfect place for a romantic meal or to come with the family. Will be coming back as soon as possible!

Best place I’ve been! We went for a date and it was amazing. Someone cancelled so they got us in earlier than we booked, but would highly recommend booking! Because it is so good I doubt there are going to be many days that they are not at full capacity! The vibe is stunning, very cottage core, old cottage, witchy vibe (just my thing!). Mark the manager served us and was absolutely lovely, all the staff are so kind and make the meal even more wonderful. The outside area is a beauty! We have already planned our next two visits and what we are going to order as the whole menu looks amazing! Everything is cooked in house, ensuring everything that it is all fresh and full of flavour! Highly recommend the duck cakes starter and spring rolls, best starters ever had!

This pub is lovely decorated inside but unfortunately the food is not up to this google rating. Ordered Leg of lamb and got tiny tiny mini slices of lamb for £16 Per meal Additionally it wasn’t that great neither. Same day a friend of mine went and sadly said out of 5 meals only 2 was okay.

It’s really important to book a table to avoid disappointment. The staff are friendly & made our dogs very welcome too, water & a treat! It was lovely, cool inside & welcoming on a very hot sunny day. The food is amazing 🤩 we enjoyed the Turkey Sunday roast, my friend had an Eton mess dessert (sundae) & I enjoyed the Bakewell pudding with cherry swirl ice cream, delicious 😋. Also love the traditional charm of the historic building. We highly recommend a visit….

What a find! We travelled up to Lincoln from Berkshire and stumbled across this place. It’s very cosy and comfortable. We hadn’t booked but the staff were lovely and fitted us in as they had had a cancellation. The food was absolutely excellent. I had fish pie and my husband had the steak and ale pie. It was delicious. Oh and they serve a decent pint too. Excellent value for money . Highly recommended!

Absolutely delightful pub. Comfortable, clean, welcoming and interesting. Everything a country pub should be. Booked a table, with dog, for Sunday lunch. Welcomed by lovely efficient staff and had table service throughout our lunch. The food, roasts, was excellent, well presented and very tasty. My wife and I both thought this to be one of the best pubs we have been in for years and look forward to returning.

Received a warm welcome in a cosy environment with a great menu range. Main courses were served fresh and piping hot, and although the restaurant was busy, service was incredible. Desserts were a hit, and I highly recommend the experience (and the coffee)!!

There was a group of six and we were seated on the understanding we wouldn't lollygag over the pudding . The food was well cooked , the service social and pleasant and straight talking , a plus in all our books . The cakes for afters are veritable structures of delight , and if you can't manage them there are boxes to put them in so you can take them home . Reasonable price and everyone had a good time

As soon as we walked into the Stone Arms, both my wife and I, was greeted by the waitress/bar maid, who was so polite, charming and very welcoming. She showed us to our table and even though we were early, as our names were reserved the night before, there was no concern so we ordered our drinks. There was no rush to order, and the place was full with customers both in the restaurant and the bar. Our starters arrived and were lovely, fresh and delicious. We ordered the small Sunday dinners (small they were not), they were cooked to perfection with the cauliflower cheese sauce to die for. I was so full that I elected for a coffee. My wife ordered the apple crumble for dessert (I did taste a small bit - very yummy). All in all a wonderful experience. Staff were very lovely and so polite. Smiles all around. In my opinion, and I have been to all the restaurants in Lincoln, it was the best and we both thoroughly recommend you book. My only issue? ? Parking! The car park was full. But plenty of side streets to park in. Highly recommended.

Stopped for petrol (reasonably priced) and stayed for lunch. Boss had aubergine katsu and I had breakfast. Both really good. Sausages and bacon were excellent. Everything cooked just right. Coffee was great. Service was attentive, professional and friendly. All in all a great place for a spot of lunch. We would have bought some produce from the shop but en route elsewhere so nowhere to store it.
