Firstly I suggest you ignore the previous review. My wife and I ate here late night and the food was amazing. We ate at Clever & Wake recently which was nice but the food here was far better imo. If you haven’t tried this place you’re missing out!

Popped in one mid evening with my wife having not vited this pub for some 20 years. Was greeted by a lovely bar staff lady and to be homest with it being my birthday we was going to have a quick drink and go to a local Chinese restaurant, but we had a look at the menu and decided to eat here. The lady explained it may take a while as everything is cooked fresh. The food ww ordered was well worth the wait and the money. I wont be waiting another 20 years before popping back in

We had lunch here at Gunthorpe and was very disappointed. My mother and my wife had steak pie with a sauce that tasted like disinfectant. I had the fish and chips. The fish looked grey and also tasted funny. We mentioned this to our waitress and she apologised and offered us a free dessert or drinks. We ordered coffees. Not the waitresses fault she was very nice and did her best. This was the last meal I had with my mother before she passed and thank the chef for making it memorable for the wrong reason. Dont think I will go back.

We enjoyed the restaurant atmosphere ,it was busy but well organised our waitresses Nicky was attentive professional and friendly. The 3 courses off the set menu was enjoyed by both of us.The presentation of the table and food was lovely. If you are thinking of booking for new year don't hesitate and book.

Very disappointed, I visited @5pm on 21.2.25 very expensive, sticky dirty table, peeling paint everywhere. My son had a pint of Estrella which was fine. Only 2 real beers on offer Wainwright's and Pedigree. Lack of any real choice, other decent lager (Hawkeshead) had run out. I opted for a half of Pedigree, flat, dull and not very good no head, girl behind bar hadn't got a clue how to pour a beer. £9.40 for a pint (ok) and half of awful beer. So I thought I'll go for Guinness, girl couldn't get tap to work, I tried it, it had gone off. Watery and smelled bad. I would not recommend this experience to anyone. I will not be returning. Poorly trained staff, far too expensive and other far better pubs within a few miles at Lowdham.

We were really looking forward to our first Christmas dinner out, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations and certainly wasn’t worth £120 per head. The pub was packed, and we were squashed onto a table where we couldn’t even hear each other speak—our poor waitress struggled to hear us as well. The Rosé we were recommended was bitter and not enjoyable at all. There were no crackers on the table—just a ‘Fish n Chip Friday’ promotional flyer, which completely killed any festive atmosphere. As for the food, the roast rump was so tough we couldn’t cut it, even after asking for a steak knife. When we requested a slightly more cooked slice, it arrived looking exactly the same, swimming in blood, and still inedible. We eventually gave up and took it home for the dogs. The rest of the meal wasn’t much better. The roast potatoes were hard and heavy, and the vegetables consisted of parsnips, broccoli and Yorkshire pudding —where were the stuffing, pigs in blankets, or Brussels sprouts? It felt like an average Sunday roast, not a festive Christmas meal. To top it off, the pudding options were disappointing, and we had to ask for basic condiments. We were finally offered crackers, but only after the table next to us had to request them. Overall, we had hoped for a memorable and special Christmas dining experience, but instead, we left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed.
