Tom Browns Restaurant in Newark and Sherwood

We booked for afternoon tea and the service was exceptional. We were greeted with a massive platter of succulent sandwiches and rich desserts. Unlimited drinks were included in the plan and both the coffee and the orange juice were delicious. I will note, however, there were a flew flies around our table and the whole establishment is not very accessible, with many various steps and different levels around the building. Overall, though, it was a top-notch meal.

Once again we were not disappointed with this restaurant. The food was absolutely superb! We both chose the fillet steak and it was delicious. It was one of the best steaks I have ever had! The service was also excellent, friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and it was a great way to celebrate my birthday. Thank you to all of the staff for making this evening special. I can't wait to book again.

Absolutely wonderful meal. Met by the very attentive brasserie waiter who was informative and knowledgeable, treated us like guests not customers. Went to Tom Browns On Sunday 18th August for Sunday lunch as part of my birthday celebrations. Meal was good however not a mention of my Birthday was made by the staff. The restaurant was also invaded by approx 3 traveller families who were absolutely vile! Apart from my celebration being overlooked and the traveller families being vile the experience was pretty good!

Me and a few friends recently dined at Tom Browns after a long wait. We had feared the change in ownership would have changed the ambience and dining experience, but we were pleasantly surprised with how our night turned out! The food was outstanding - in particular the seabass with lobster bisque - and the service was even better. Overall, we will be returning again!!

Great staff and very high level food from a well varied menu and enjoyed a good cup of tea afterwards. A nice place to eat and drink

I don't live near to Tom Browns (an hour's drive away) but was told by friends that the food is always delicious and the local area beautiful for walks. So myself and husband booked for lunch following a walk along the river. I am so pleased that we made the effort, the food was absolutely lovely - the best meals we've had in quite a while and it definitely wont be the last time we visit. The staff should all be very proud of themselves at the level of service that they give to their customers, they couldn't do enough for us which added to our fab dining experience. Thank you Tom Browns, we are so pleased to have discovered you - we will be returning soon and telling all our friends!

I was incredibly disappointed in my experience here. My food came undercooked and when I requested to have them redo my order I was refused. The younge waitress had said that the chef 'Liam's wouldnt be happy if she did. I heard such good reviews before which just added to the disappointment.

Great food and service, we live locally and do not use this place anywhere near as often as we should do! We will definitely be back soon with lots of friends, the staff were telling us how many events they have coming up and we can’t believe we’ve been missing out!

Visited with family to wish our daughter safe travels for her upcoming trip. Service was professional and we were made to feel very welcome. We were checked in on regularly to see if we needed anything but never felt rushed. Food was really good and we were all happy with our choices. When we ordered our desserts they came with a Bon Voyage plate which was a lovely touch. Definitely recommend for great food and service.

Superb venue with outstanding food and impeccable service. We booked an afternoon tea as a special treat for Mother’s Day and we could not fault the whole experience. We were made to feel very welcome by the manager Adam and we were served very promptly and efficiently at the bar. The waiter and waitresses couldn’t do enough for us with unlimited sandwiches, teas and coffees. The afternoon tea was very special arriving on a mini picnic bench with a selection of gorgeous sandwiches and incredible desserts. Thank you so much to all of the staff. You made me feel very special.

We had picked up our new campervan at lowdhams during the day so I had pre booked this location for an evening meal.. .. we live in Wiltshire so had no idea what a gem this would be. The food was pretty exceptional and the prices really reasonable. In particular I would recommend the cauliflower starter and the pigs cheeks .. the desserts were also fantastic.. we forgot to use our lowdhams discount card but despite that I thought the bill was very reasonable. Great staff .. highly recommended

I have always found Tom Browns busy even at Lunch time, but on our last 2 visits it has been excedingly quiet, only 8 adults and 2 children in the whole restaurant this time! I'm glad we were with another couple as there was no atmosphere. Twice now I have been dissapointed with the food, finding some of the products served almost stale or possibly reheated poorly. (Front of house staff are always pleasant an helpful.) We enjoy good food, which we have come to expect there over the years, but we felt rather dissapointed enough to now try somewhere else next time. With a quiet restaurant it should have been perfect.

Everytime we step foot in this place we’re greeted with exceptional service and the tastiest food! We’ve been to celebrate on numerous occasions and each time has been fantastic. Delicious food, great service and would 110% reccomend! Can’t wait to go back 🙏

I have to say that for some years now Tom Browns has been at the top of the list for being one of my favourite restaurants. I have always loved the quality of the food and it's hospitality. Last Saturday, 9th December I was fortunate to hold a dinner party for my daughter's 21st birthday which included her family and close friends. Altogether, there were 14 of us. The staff were absolutely faultless, attentive and engaging. Sadly, the birthday cake had collapsed and although not altogether destroyed, it would not have been nice for my daughter to have seen it presented in it's state. However, head chef came to the rescue and was able to do his magic and my daughter was later presented with her cake in all it's beauty, never knowing what had happened to it previously. Thank you Head Chef Liam. You may not wear a cloak but you were definitely a superhero in our eyes. I also have to include how enjoyable our meals were and how quickly they all came at the same time, leaving no one person having to wait ages for their food. Thank you Tom Browns for a wonderful dining experience.

Upon arrival our group of 8 were delighted to be at Tom browns and very excited for our ladies day out at the races. Once seated we awaited our three course brunch, we had to ask for extra pastries despite having booked a table for 8 there was not enough pastries to go around, this was a minor problem that was resolved. Our ‘full English breakfast’ were then handed out, each were noticeably different in size but we shrugged this off as we understood and appreciated it was a busy morning, one of our ladies then noticed her scrambled egg was green, this was then pointed out to a waiter who took the place and bought it back saying it was from the pan it was cooked on and OK to eat, with no luck there we bought it to the attention of a manager who took it away and bought it back saying the same thing, this isn’t acceptable after paying the amount we did. After this we found it very noticeable that a man working wearing a shirt covered in guitars was very helpful, kind and attentive to a group of ladies on another table however not so much to us. This wasn’t the kind of treatment we expected and we were so disappointed with the service from the staff at Tom Browns, so much we have decided next year to skip this part of ladies day and head straight to the races after having breakfast elsewhere.

Food was amazing, tasty and cooked very well however service was very pushy and fast to begin with then once we ordered our food everything was super slow. The mains came out whilst we still had empty starters plates on the table. Such a shame.

Visited here for the first time for a birthday lunch. Very friendly service from arrival, with a lovely classy interior throughout. We had the early bird lunch deal which was great value for money. I had two courses that were on the specials menu - smoked haddock rarebit tart and blade of beef with trimmings. My partner had fish cakes followed by the chicken breast main. We both thoroughly enjoyed everything - the amount of flavour in the food was amazing. It was all washed down with a lovely white wine. Would definitely want to return again!
