I haven't been in this shop for 15 plus years and what a great surprise it was , greeted with a smile 😊 staff very polite and professional, the place is spotlessly clean and to cap things off the food was outstanding 👌🏻, Highly recommended. Many thanks 10/10

Used to be the best kebab in town food quality has taken a nosedive

Over an hour for chips and kebab meat and still not arrived. Apparently it’s on the way. First and definitely last time I’ll be using them

Absolutely the worst kebab on naan I have ever had. We had a chicken kebab with chilli sauce and salad. The kebab itself was really greasy, the naan was flat and greasy. The chili sauce was just like pureed tomato with no chilli kick. If this is a representation of Newark kebabs it's not good.

Poor chips anemic batter on fish hard and dry think fish was reheated if you serve poor food people don't come back simples

Ordered doner kebab and lamb shish kebab and chips and it was terrible. Everything was raw. Chips undercooked, doner meat undercooked and the lamb chewy and still had blood! I only realised after I had eaten a piece and I am fully expecting to feel ill tomorrow. Also chili sauce had no flavour, no spice at all. Extremely overpriced paid £10+ for stomach ache ! Would not return, would not recommend. Staff were friendly though!

This is the Golden Grill special with several different kebabs and large chips. I've given 3 stars due to, on the Just Eat app there is a 1.5L bottle of drink added to the meal however when you go into the shop it doesn't have it added to the meal, and the large chips are a large small at best. The chilli sauce is all tomato and zero spice, disappointing. The kebab was nice though 👍

Just ordered haddock and chips as really fancied them after being away for 2 weeks abroad. Had to go in bin as sent cod. We both hate Cod. And i always check for haddocks black line down the back. So just had the chips and sauces which were lovely. Very expensive take away when not got right fish

Been around for a while now and is one of the more trustworthy takeaways in Newark. The portion sizes are.always very generous and.the food always arrives warm.Cant really ask for much more than that. Don't seem to have to wait too long for a delivery either. You can choose to pick up if you wish

Whilst browsing their menu I saw kebabs on naan. Not found a place round here that does naans. So opted for the mixed grill kebab. Meats were cooked on a griddle/charcoal base so really nice and charred taste donner meat was plain salad was seperate. Not a fan of salad . Chilli sauce wasn't anything special and the naan was 2 wraps . So its a build your own kebab , hate that . Cost £15.99 . Will try pizzas next

Sadly a very disappointing service this evening. We are regular customers and have always been very happy with the service. Delivery didn’t arrive. The delivery driver did call( there had been no knock at the door and delivery was late so we were listening out!) and I didn’t answer as didn’t recognise the number. If anyone opens our gate the dog barks.Our house number is well lit up so fail to see why delivery driver couldn’t see us and they’ve delivered to us for at least the past 4 years!! Apparently the failure to deliver was my fault for not picking the call up. Several calls direct to the takeaway where I remained calm and wanted to cancel delivery and was cut off twice! I am really disappointed as would think that being a regular customer would warrant having a conversation rather than being told they’re too busy to talk. No longer will we be using you and will take our business to Angells fishery. Clearly a regular customer counts for nothing with golden grill. Disappointed

Have been long time customers of Golden Grill and have never had an issue - until this evening. They claimed the delivery driver had tried to make a delivery and yes, we ignored a call from an unknown mobile number at one point but didn’t hear him knock at the door (we have a dog who barks at any noise outside and she didn’t even stir). Then once we’d spoken to them they claimed the driver was outside. I was stood looking out of the window and there was no sign of a car. Rang to cancel the order and they tried to blame us and then repeatedly put the phone down on us. Shocking customer service and we won’t be using them again, which is a real shame because we’ve used them pretty much on a weekly basis since they opened.

This take away is by far!! The BEST in Newark. I've never had any issues with there food. It's always been hot, delicious and delivered on time usually by friendly delivery drivers. It's even better than my wife's cooking but don't tell her that. I reccomend the a portion of Cod and regular chips. . .the portion size is HUGE. I manage but with the help of an undone button my jeans.

The friendliest staff and a lovely welcome. Food is fresh, delicious and well presented. The home made chilli sauce is particularly nice. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

This used to be best kebab shop. Last couple of times foods been swimming in grease fair enough doner kebabs are greasy but this take the p**s. Fries white greasy and soggy. Plenty of kebab shops in Newark I’m advising to use one even chippy kebab. I’ve also ended up with gastritis after my last order on 20/4/23. Staff are friendly. Shame as like I said used to be the best. Terrible. Skip this one people.

Chips were terrible and the chicken wings were terrible French fries not so bad and the burger was OK.... It's hard to mess them up to be fair will go somewhere else when local again it's a shame as the staff seemed nice

Ordered the fish from here today Sunday April 2nd 2023, it gave me food poisoning.

NEVER ORDER FROM THERE .I HAVE ORDERED MANY TIMES AND FOUND THINGS IN IT THAT SHOULDNT BE .IM A VEGETARIAN AND I NOTICE THIS TIME I HAD HAM SLICES IN IT . IM APPAULDE AT THERE ATTITUDE WHEN I TOLD THEM .HE SAID TUFF IT WAS MY FAULT .HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GREATFULL WE ORDERED FROM THERE AS THERE IS MANY MORE PLACES TO GO AND HES LOST A FORTUNE FOR HIS BUSINESS .

stayed at Smeaton lake for a few days ordered kebab chips for 3 of us, it came piping hot, on both days , it was gorgeous, the delivery was fast and the drivers were very friendly, highly recommend

Ordered a meaty pizza and plain pepperoni. Chips and pepsi Got completely wrong drink. Chips over soggy and cold. Pepperoni pizza comes back with only mushrooms which my partner is allergic to. Rude service and very unhappy.

We ordered 2 chicken wraps with salad and garlic souce, and the was no sauce at all when they came. When I called the and coplained they were arogant and said so what do you what then?... then they said they will send garlic sauce which did not even come. Terrible people, would not recomennd guys.

The Donna tucker meat is greasy and not the best, pizzas have little toppings on It’s not nice seeing the staff prepping raw meat in the back- not professional There are no decent takeaways in Newark apart from Castle cuisine Indian

The online ordering is very simple. The timer is a great feature. The thing that makes it 5* for me is the consistency, the food always arrives hot and very tasty

Well what can I say!!!!! I have ordered many times from here and been more than happy with the service and food however, this time round not so much. The food is oily, greasy and tasteless!!!! I have called to complain to he told that I can't complain about it all!!! The person I have spoken to was rude, arrogant and very sarcastic. I am just so shocked and not recommend them to anyone. Especially as the way they dealt with the complaint. Customer service has to be number one in business and this lot have failed in many ways. Very poor to say the least!

Totally unhappy with delivery. I have been waiting one hour to have my order and when I called them to ask when the order will arrive I was told to wait another 30 min 😫 after that I’ve spent another 40 minutes trying to cancel that order and to get refund. Very disappointing 😞

Please don't buy from this shop not only do they give your food other people they constantly turn up late with it. And when I ring up to complain about it being late I just get told they not selling me food again. Don't get me wrong the food taste good. But being on time isn't something too much to ask for

Good food usually and get value

A poor excuse for a takeaway. Pizza..... Greasy with no flavour. Bland and boring.. kebab? Make sure you mention that you actually, usually have salad as standard with your kebab... Or you will just get meat in a wrap. Sorry to slate but dissapointed after reading good reviews.
