World's End in Newark and Sherwood

Buscando algo diferente - llama por teléfono y reserva una mesa al menos 24 horas antes de ir y discute lo que te gusta comer - pide algo diferente y disfruta de una comida magnífica. Si no tiene gluten / celiaco, este es un lugar perfecto para tener una comida preciosa y no el estilo ‘listo para usar’ tampoco, ni mucho menos. Alan constantemente produce comida deliciosa con porciones que se pueden variar según se solicite. De lo contrario, si se deja caer por - el menú es un gran estilo de pub y pudines para hacer sonreír a cualquiera. La cerveza es buena también con una gama decente de sidras. Gran espacio al aire libre para familias y reuniones también. El personal es muy acogedor y amable. Uno de mis lugares favoritos para comer frío y charlar.

Servicio increíble. Con excelente comida casera y vistas brillantes. Vale la pena el dinero y tamaños de porción perfectos para el precio.

Vino porque era el único lugar local que sirve comida después de las 8 , no estaba seguro de qué esperar, pero consiguió un plato masivo de comida bien cocinada y también lo hizo mi amigo, muy agradable, recomendará y volverá

A warm welcome & the customer service is top notch. The food is excellent and presented very well, the meals were hot & we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate, 3 courses & drinks, the portions are a good size for the prices & cooked to order. Highly recommended & we will return. Thank you

Three of us had lunch today two fish and chips and one steak and ale pudding, with top notch home made chips, meals just as good as the last time we ate here. Al has produced high standards of quality food as usual. Fish was fresh, cooked with crisp batter and succulent fish, steak pudding had depth of flavour with excellent home made chips. Too many establishments take the lazy option with frozen chips but Al has worked hard to maintain a quality offering with high consistent standards!

Great for a little chit chat with a mate. The Food was enjoyable, really cozy. Overall, IMO its a nice place to chill! ☺️😋😁😌

Yet again a warm welcome from Anna and Alan and another fabulous meal. Friend and I were unsure what to have due to all tempting dishes on menu. After discussing we asked if we could share mushroom starter goats cheese and caramelised onion tart with roll with fish goujons with best homemade chips. We were very spoilt our meal was served on a serving dish. All was absolutely delicious. So looking forward to returning in very near future

Had lunch yesterday- first visit in a few years after learning there were new owners. Food excellent, service with a smile. Relaxed and cozy feel to the pub. Good to see there were a few customers even on a Monday lunch time. Will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely lunch and great service x

Excellent food and service as usual, great quality fresh, well cooked and served with friendly professionalism. One of the nicest meals out we've had in years, really cannot understand the recent negative comments unless it's from folk bearing a grudge as their descriptions bear no resemblance to our experience over the last few months visiting this place!

Service is shocking! All meals were mixed up, pie was burnt, all we got was a man coming over to us asking simply "well" when we responded meals were all incorrect pie burnt the mash was more like smash! He just shrugged his shoulders and walked off!! What a rude arrogant person, happy to serve up a load of rubbish. Needless to say would not recommend and would never return.

Went for a birthday celebration, this was the worst Sunday lunch ever. 3x beef undercooked, yorkshire puddings warmed up and burnt, roast potatoes rock hard a runny grave. 1x nut roast which is what they said it was , had no resemblance or taste to this. Told staff the food was not great and most of it was left. No discount offered. Very dissatisfied and really felt we should of refused to pay it all. Will never eat here again.

Came across this lovely village pub a week ago. Lovely and cosy with log fire. Food was tasty and reasonably priced, so good we returned z few days later and didn't disappoint. We'll worth a visit. Staff very friendly.

Four of us ( 5 including the dog ) went yesterday and all choose different meals. Haddock, lasagne, Mushroom stroganoff & Sausage and Mash. We were all very happy with the food. It’s a local pub so not a chain which is nice. Service was very friendly, drinks were good. They also do Doggie dinners which was great so the dog ate as well. We will definitely go back.

This our first visit, to celebrate our daughter's 40th birthday. The staff were friendly and attentive, the ale was excellent and perfectly served. The food was similarly excellent and very well present at a reasonable price. The chef is undoubtedly very skilled and even spontaneously added some extra decoration to our daughter's dessert in celebration of her birthday. We certainly intend visiting again in the near future and would heartily recommend The World's End.

We were attracted to the pub because of its name. So pleased we visited. We came here in search of a proper pub lunch and that's exactly what we found! It's a lovely cosy pub with two areas to sit in; there's the restaurant side...

We called in to have a post lock down drink in the beer garden. Upon arrival we were told to order using QR code on the table via our phone. This did not work, so we went to the door to ask for help. Was told the app doesn’t work (so why didn’t they remove all the signs?). Was told someone would come to our table to take the order for two drinks. After 10 minutes we went back to see where they were, again told someone would be over. Another 5 minutes then a waitress arrived who had no manners, could barely speak, and was so slow. When the drinks finally arrived one was wrong, and after asking for it to be exchanged it took a further 15 minutes. The service was terrible and the staff seemed like they couldn’t care less. Other customers were complaining about delays and lack of assistance too. This is definitely one pub to avoid. Upon looking afterwards we saw it has one star for food hygiene. Thank god we never stayed long enough to order food!

First visit and was absolutely shocking! Waited a long time for drinks order to be taken after asking twice. Spritzer was served flat. Either really understaffed or staff seriously lacking experience. Returned drink and waiting for over half an hour for a replacement. Went home after being at the pub for an hour and only having a few sips of drink. I've never written a bad review for anyone before. We won't be returning. Very disappointed.

El almuerzo decepcionante, la grave escasez de personal arruinó lo que debería haber sido un almuerzo festivo agradable. La comida llegó después de un retraso considerable y fue devuelta ya que no estaba caliente. Retrasar nuevamente entre cursos, y algunos miembros del personal no resultaron muy apropiados. No nos animará a usar este lugar nuevamente.

Hemos pasado por este lugar muchas veces y comentamos sobre visitar en algún momento. Bueno, tenemos y es agradable. El pub es encantador, el personal atento y, en general, muy bien. Pedimos comidas y fueron buenos y satisfactorios. No diría excelente, ya que hemos tenido mejores, pero no decepcionante. Mi esposa eligió pastel de carne y disfrutó de lo que tenía aparte de lo que sentía era Bisto Gravy estándar. Opté por el pescado y las papas fritas un viernes, y nuevamente estuve satisfecho pero no me impresionó. Esperábamos una cocina de 10 estrellas, no, por supuesto que no, y quizás un poco por encima del promedio hubiera sido agradable. Sin embargo, fue disfrutado y caliente. Volveríamos a visitarlo, probablemente en algún momento, pero no es un lugar al que conduciría a propósito para obtener una comida.

We visit this pub to eat every time we come to Nottingham to visit daughter and grandchildren.Tonight very disappointed. I had steak pie and mash with veg, quite good - but I've had better.My wife had lasagne that she said at the outset was not very hot and probably microwaved as it was very dry. She didn't return it, as by the time it had been reheated and returned to the table, I would have finished mine, meaning an evening meal out together would have resulted in us eating separately! On mentioning this to staff the response was very apologetic but no offer of any reduction in price until pressed. We were then offered £2.50 off the cost of her meal!Won't be returning. Have checked food hygiene rating a few minutes ago and found it had been awarded a 1!We had wondered why at 7 pm on a Saturday night it was almost empty, while on previous visits we had to book a table in advance - we were the only diners tonight!We have always looked forward to our Nottingham visits and ensure we visit the World End, unfortunately, I suspect tonight will be our last visit.

I do not normally write a bad review but on this occasion I will after such an awful visit. We have been here a few times before and although often a long wait the food has been ok. This time however not only was the wait nearly an hour and hardly anyone in the pub, it came out cold and inedible. The landlady was rude and aggressive when told. I have had better school dinners than the offering we received today. To top it off it turns out to have a food hygiene rating of 1. Avoid

I booked a table four people after reading the review. when we arrived we were taken to our table we picked the Sunday lunch menu and the four meals where freshly cooked and very tasty we all cleared our plates. The staff very polite and obliging and nothing seemed to be to much trouble. All in all a lovely welcoming Inn, a great meal and a beautiful desert our two friends were very impressed thankyou

We'd had a rather frustrating trip around Notts on a hot day, looking for a lunchtime country pub which wasn't rammed with large cars in the car park and on the surrounding roads. We eventually landed at the World's End, which is quite near to home and used to be one of my go-to pubs a long time ago.The pub has changed a little but in all respects for the better. There are three outdoor seating areas (one for smokers) where food can be served and the interior is a comfortable one-room affair, with a bar at one end and formal tables at the other. Even the thirsts of the canine customers are catered for, with a choice of water-bowls for normal-height and short dogs! There's a decent selection of draft beers at the bar - I went for my usual pint of Pedigree while Liz had a chilled Birra Moretti. There are several lunchtime menus and we were particularly impressed that one was a Lighter Choice for folk who, like us, don't favour large portions these days. Liz's haddock and chips was excellent; the fish wasn't that suspiciously smooth triangular affair much favoured by 'freezer-chefs' - and the plate was warmed. I had a fresh baguette with some very good sausages and red-onion marmalade. The meal did take quite a while to arrive but was clearly freshly-prepared. The bar staff were cheerful and attentive and the whole experience one which we will happily reprise in the near future.

Our second visit here and we were not disappointed again food is fantastic! Service was great. We will be back.

I booked a table for Mothers Day Sunday lunch for my Mum and I. Arrived 15 minutes early and they table was ready despite it being really busy.

The pub has a great atmosphere, although the locals and regulars often drink there, every one makes you feel welcome, the pub has had a recent makeover which has been tastefully done, it is a lovely pub with open fires.

We booked a table for 12.30 to celebrate my partners birthday, we opted for the 2 course menu and this took 2 hours and 15 minutes, we wouldn't mind if we had chosen anything out of the ordinary but we chose from a limited 'Sunday Lunch' menu,whilst we realise it was Sunday, we did expect more choices.

We were out looking for somewhere to eat and thought we would try The Worlds End Pub have not been there before. We wrere greated by the friendly staff we inquired if they had got any spaces for lunch as we had not booked a table was found. We ordered some drinks while we looked at the Sunday lunch menu there was a good selection . We odered roast Beef with all the trimmings and Lamb with all the trimmings it arrived at the table piping hot and freshly cooked both meals were enjoyable. I then ordered treale pudding and custard. Both meals were to a good standard with a set price at a reasonable price. All the staff were very helpful and plesant . Would certainly go again if in that area.

First time back in quite a while, always remember it fondly, but unfortunately this visit failed to live up to expectations. We arrived at 8:20 and food service stopped at 8:30, we are accepted but only if we went straight to mains. This was fine. The food was ok but nothing amazing, which is a shame because that is how I remember it.

We've been coming to the Worlds End for more years than I care to remember. Beautiful setting and a brilliant floral display outside. The new owners are now settled in and the food was excellent. Brilliant Fish and Chips and superb steaks, washed down with good wine and hand pulled beers. We really enjoyed the night and I'm sure we'll be back.

We haven't been to World's End for years, and decided to go for lunch to see if the food was as good as we remembered. Indeed it was! A warm welcome, a bit of banter, well-cooked fresh ingredients, and magnificent floral display outside. What more could we ask? As I recall, it can get very busy, but today being Monday it was quiet, so we were served quickly and efficiently. The only thing preventing me giving it five stars is the steep step down to the toilets, as I have mobility problems. However, it's a very old building and there is probably little they can do about the layout. Now we've rediscovered World's End, we'll be back!

Visited en route to a concert on a busy friday night. Ordered fish and chips which are cooked to order. 25 minute wait but when the food arived can honestly say this was best fish n’chips ever. Definitely tastiest and very generous portions too. Spent much of my life in Scotland - never more than 5 miles from the coast - so I’m very used to good, fresh fish and this establshment has got it to perfection. Can’t wait to go again!

The World’s End is a cosy pub with some great beer and friendly staff. The food/ menu is what Marston’s allow them to serve but it looked nice enough. But the carpet throughout the pub is filthy and threadbare- how has this been allowed to happen? I wonder if Marstons are trying to run it down deliberately, say it’s not commercially viable and then sell what is a large site for housing; I wouldn’t put it past them. Time will tell.
