The Springfield in Newark and Sherwood

Stayed here after reading some good reviews . Pleasant welcome by a young man at the bar - full payment taken on arrival . Downhill after that Room was ok - not large for a ‘double’ Bathroom sink so small you bump your head on the shelf - and on washing your face water spills on your legs, feet and the floor. Bed ok, but no blanket and I was cold . First morning my room was tidied but the bed left unmade . Breakfast poor, with microwaved rubber scrambled eggs and no choice of bread - just white rubbish . No fruit, fresh or tinned . Second night the fire alarm sounded at 3.15 am, and continued for 4-5 mins before it was deactivated . No explanation or apology from any staff, then or the following morning . Booked a table on arrival, in the bar for dinner in order to watch the England game . Asked large assistant manager ? If she could change TV channel and turn up volume slightly - to which she replied she’d ’get into trouble’! Not allowed - she said ! Finally convinced her that it was England playing an important semi. …. All breakfasts poor - dinner that evening also poor . Last morning there was NO HOT WATER to wash and shower . At breakfast I told a member of staff I was unable to shower or shave - he was totally disinterested! On leaving nobody asked about our stay / or even said thank you or goodbye . A total waste of money

We used a room at the Springfield for business training over a few days. The staff were great in making sure the refreshments in the room were topped up throughout each day we were there and even made sure lunches were served on time to help with our tight training schedules. They organised the room just how we needed it too. The room has an exit to the seating area outside, so we took our quick breaks throughout the day out there without needing to go through the pub. Thanks Jess and the team!

Me and my Mum had another lovely meal here today The fishcakes were amazing and my Mum had the fish and chips. The food is wonderful and Nicky the waitress is lovely. We came here a few months ago and it was really good then ,but even better this time. Love it here . Melanie and Joan

Treated ourselves to a bank Holiday Monday meal and booked in to listen to the entertainment, which was very enjoyable, well done to the organisers, look forward to next time. Thank you to Amanda for excellent friendly service!

Lunch last Friday with friends. Warm welcome and attentive cheery service. Excellent king prawns starter, main courses pie and sea bass. However chicken in both the burger and the curry were overdone. Thankfully our waitress arranged for my wife’s burger to be replaced-and it was fine 2nd time. Nice location with plenty parking.

Visited for impromptu lunch and we were not disappointed. The food was very tasty and the staff polite and attentive. Very cosy surroundings. Definitely going to visit again in the near future

Been here many times before and found it to be very good indeed. This time, we went for lunch and although the decor, atmosphere and server were all great, the food was not as good as it had been on previous visits. I had the smoked haddock and spinach fishcakes - they were hot, had a good flavour, but were quite soggy (I'd expected them to be a bit crispy). My husband had steak, which he said was fatty and didn't have much meat on it. It hasn't put us off going again, though, but we'll know not to order those particular dishes.

Everytime myself and partner have visited the food is fantastic…Amanda took our order and was lovely friendly and checked in on us to check everything was good…Thankyou x

The food was excellent with a great choice. Service was wonderful and Nicky the waitresses was very attentive and ensured everything was satisfactory. We were there as a family to celebrate my mother's birthday and Nicky made sure mum enjoyed her meal and time there.

Had a very enjoyable evening at the Springfield on Saturday. My mum had been out for a meal on Mothering Sunday and recommended it for our visit. We booked a table for 6 adults (ranging from 16 to 84) and requested a dog friendly area. We were located in a top corner of the restaurant which was perfect for us as we could tuck our labrador away to avoid any disturbance. Jess introduced herself not long after we sat down and was extremely helpful, polite and accommodating throughout our meal. Everything was great, absolutely no complaints. Thank you - we will visit again when we are next in the area.

Very slow service, Had to ask when our drinks would arrive.Had lunch menu two course for £16 50 only had one course but was charged full price,so decided to have take away desert being has I had to pay for it,will not be returning

Food and service very good with friendly staff however the unavailability of a number of deserts listed on the menu and a 10 % service charge added to the bill disappointed.

6 day's ago I wrote a review which was rightly complementary about the Springfield and I'm sorry to say what a difference 6 day's make. My wife and I arrived at 17.15 hrs for 17.30hrs booking and the requested table was unavailable which isn't a problem but we were offered the smallest and I considered to be the worst table in the restaurant which was right next to the out door of the kitchen. My wife asked if we could sit at one of the many empty tables but she was told no because they were all booked due to the 40% discount night on the meals. I don't understand that when our booking was accepted and we arrived 15 mins before why a more comfortable empty table wasn't offered to us. Because a 40% discount on meals was available on this particular night why were we greeted with 40% less servility. Subsequently we declined the worst table in the restaurant and went and enjoyed an exquisite meal at The Springwater Chinese restaurant. The staff at the Springwater were friendly and the welcome and service was excellent.

We have not visited here before, very impressed with the food and service. We will definitely be coming back for another visit.

Another great lunch . I went with two friends and we all made main courses with starters and sides which they were very happy to do. Our waitress Jan was very attentive without being too overpowering. Food was good and well presented. Thank you.

The food as usual was brilliant. Nicky was very friendly and super helpful. Table by the fire on a cold winter's night was just lovely.

Visited this week as we could not resist the 50% off mains offer. As always the staff were very accommodating and it was nice to be recognised by the manager Myles, who is always very welcoming. We particularly love the open fires, especially with the cold weather. We look forward to returning soon for another delicious meal!

Had a fantastic stay at Springfield Inn.Felt warm and cosy from the moment you walked through the door, even warmer if you sit in front of the open fire. Myles and his team were absolutely amazing, nothing was any trouble 1st class service in both the bar and restaurant. Rooms were spotless, warm and well furnished including including the hot beverage tray. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend. Sunday lunch is a must. Would be here every Sunday if it weren’t the fact it’s 180miles from home.😁😁😁

Lunch today at the Springfield Inn was thoroughly disappointing. It was the worst steak and chips I've ever had to be honest. The salad? A few sprigs of watercress on its own ( no dressing) was starting to go yellow. Frozen chips and the thinnest bit steak ever. The garlic butter was tasteless. The only good thing about the meal was the waitress (Nicky) who I couldn't fault. She was v polite and attentive...I would not go back..

We had our Christmas dinner here. Lovely table and setting. Food was plentiful and excellent. Staff worked very hard. Just three things to note that would have made this perfect - staff would have looked better in a uniform, tables could have used a tablecloth and being the price we paid I think tea and coffee should be provided. Overall excellent though and would go again

The staff want to stand by the fire talking rubbish. The table service was absolutely terrible.when you have to go and ask for your main course to be served. Then they ask anything else 😆 🤣 😂. Then a bill for 90 pound turned up for terrible service and lukewarm food. No nay never no more I would advice you to vote with your feet and keep away good luck.
