Took Mum for lunch and it was gorgeous. Drew and his team go out of their way to make you welcome.

Arrived at 14:31 for lunch then was told lunch stopped on Saturday at 14:30. And was horse outside

Very good selection of beers and friendly service. My partner really enjoyed the fish and chips but my pork roast was pretty dire, especially when you consider the price. The gravy was the worst I've had.

Superb food with friendly staff

Firstly I suggest you ignore the previous review. My wife and I ate here late night and the food was amazing. We ate at Clever & Wake recently which was nice but the food here was far better imo. If you haven’t tried this place you’re missing out!

Nice atmosphere and good service. The food however was pretty poor. I went for fish and chips. I counted 12 chips, which I think were of the frozen variety. The fish wasn't the best quality, certainly not the most fresh and the batter was medium soggy. At £17 a portion it was the opposite of good value. Around the table nothing really stood out food wise. Totally underwhelming.

Previously had some really great vegan food but the menu at the moment is really disappointing. Its all heavily carb based with no nod to protein whatsoever. I had a bowl of gnocchi in tomato and basil 'ragu' which was just a sauce with few chopped olives thrown in. Not unpleasant but also not the sort of meal you want to eat out at those prices. Starters were soup and bread or tomato and garlic topped flat bread. Desserts which previously have been so good are now just sorbet or ice cream. Would struggle to go back.

Taken the time to write a review because the service was 100%! I hadn’t booked but we were in the area and lucky enough to get a table for our family. The gentleman who served us was super helpful, particularly for my little fussy eater. Thank you for your wonderful service and amazing food. Best wishes!

Food and service very good all though a bit pricey for pub meal, also it was quite cold sitting near to the front door of the pub at the dining table.

Fish and chips absolutely amazing! Really crispy chips and delicious haddock! Friends had Christmas Dinner and also said food was fantastic! Well done! Will definitely be back!

A very good run pub with above average food menu, and tasty dishes to took into. Very busy at peak times our table of 4 had a hour wait for main coarse after starters. But we did get a discount on the final bill. I would recommend this place if your in the area. Staff are polite and friendly

Excellent food matched by impeccable service; I now understand the hype surrounding this place. They have better service than the other pubs in Lowdham. I will definitely be going back

Lovely restaurant and interesting interior

Out for sunday lunch with family. The roast beef was perfect probably one of the best I have had cooked to perfection. Deserts were very good as well. Staff were friendly and efficient. Staff were on the ball and very efficient.

Good service and food tasted great. Portion sizes were hearty pub grub rather than gastro chic or Nouvelle cuisine...which is nice. The desserts were simply devine and there was a great selection of non/alcoholic drinks to choose from. You won't be disappointed. Update : - service still just as amazing, food remains awesome! Two cask ales when I visited. But looks like they normally have four. Otter bitter was a light pint. Beer was lovely. Thursday has a deal on steaks and wine. Beer garden was delightful

We've visited on numerous occasions now, but only the last 2, on Friday nights, We've eaten... Food and atmosphere on both occasions amazing, even a live singer. We'll be back again for sure...

Fairly decent food but astronomically high prices. £9 for 5 little bits of squid and over £25 for 3 drinks. Service was fast with the staff being very pleasant but the prices really let this place down.

Place has gone downhill…. Boring menu…. Boring over priced food. Could not find anything I wanted to eat at all. Will not be returning.

Had to ask for menus. Not impressed with lay out of food. Expensive fir additional items.

A good quality pub restaurant. The food was nice and reasonably priced, and the table service was great. It had a nice, relaxed family atmosphere. The carpark is a little small, which is unfortunate, but it didn't detract from the overall experience. I would definitely visit again.

Ordered what was supposed to be an 8oz Ribeye steak, as part of 'steak night' apparently. It turned up like an old bit of boot leather that had been battered with a rolling pin. Spoke to the staff who said that was what I ordered and how a Ribeye should be? Then if I wanted to change it, there would be no telling how long it would be to replace it as they were so busy. You change premium prices so don't serve rubbish you can buy in Weatherspoons. Terrible!!

I've had the pleasure of visiting The Railway at Lowdham for Sunday lunch multiple times, and each experience has been exceptional. As someone who frequently dines out on Sundays, I can confidently say that this place stands out among the many options in Nottinghamshire. It's rare to find a place where both the food and service excel, but The Railway manages to do just that. In a region with its fair share of disappointing Sunday lunch venues, The Railway is a shining exception. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for an outstanding meal.

No real complaints about the food, It was very nice, I do feel the price was a little high for it though, although lovely it was over £20 for a burger and a drink. The fries weren’t anything special, well cooked and crispy but otherwise pretty standard. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very clean and well kept and I would go back, 4.5 stars would have been a better rating and I’m sure some of the other items on the menu may have felt better value for money. I only wanted something quick though which is why I opted for a halloumi burger.

Excellent food and service. Despite arriving a day earlier than my booking we were not only gratiously accommodated ( and they were already very busy) but both the service and quality of our meals was exceptional.

Limited menu, but what they have they do well, great food, great presentation, great service. A little pricey for a lunch time but it was a special occasion.

Sunday dinner and it was lovely!

My review is based on Sunday lunch of which we have eaten there for the last four Sundays unfortunately I don't think we will be going back which is a shame. The first time we ate here the service was a problem, the wait was very long and things were forgotten, the manager kindly sorted this out, but the food was lovely so we went back the following week which again the food was good, we made this our new Sunday lunch venue. However the following week the food was ok but definitely not as good so we returned last week, I have to say the food was terrible the gravy was like warm water, the Yorkshire puddings dry the roast potatoes were awful the cauliflower cheese which as usual now is an extra cost was hard and dry, I left most of my dinner I told the waitress and was told they would tell the chef. It's such a shame as the staff are very nice the venue is lovely but when you are paying nearly £50 a time for two people for one course it has to be consistently good and quite honestly it is not at all, the chef can see what he is serving there really was no excuse for such a bad meal.

A very good birthday meal, food different and well cooked, with attentive service and an overall very good feel to the place. We will be back.

Amazing place, so relaxed and friendly. I went with my husband and sister in law after a stress week and we immediately relaxed and enjoyed the evening. The Starters were out of this world, my sister in law had the salmon, I had the mossarello and beetroot salad and my husband had the squid - absolutely sublime - Thankyou Railway Inn

Our favourite place to go, food has always been immaculate, more on the pricey side but it’s worth it! Loooove the desserts, would always go again, staff are amazing and good value for money if you go for a light lunch as well! Well done, we are hooked x

Cannot recommend Railway Inn highly enough. It's the umpteenth time we've been and it just gets better. The food was great,Fiona ,Kendon and a young lady whose name I don't recall looked after us. Popular well-run local restaurant with food of consistent quality. Not many tables so booking essential. Portion size varies between dishes e.g. Starters Mushrooms on toast large vs. Cod cheeks small. Venison shepherd's pie main was surprisingly bland and salty with no real gravy or sauce. Not gamey at all. Broccoli side dish on the small side for those who like their veg. Satisfactory overall but not Excellent or Outstanding hence 4 stars.

Food and drink were alright, nothing to complain about, however, nothing to shout about either. Service was very attentive, and all in all, we had a nice family Saturday lunch.

Visited for Sunday lunch with family. The roast beef was tender and the vegetables well cooked, but the chef cannot make gravy. Having an otherwise delicious meal floating in brown water is unacceptable. Meal apart, the pub is lovely as are the staff.

Excellent food, we've booked to come back in a few weeks so I can try the fish & chips my partner said was the best he's ever had and he's a food snob!

2023 Christmas Dinner update. Superb. The staff are attentive without being intrusive and could not have been more helpful with allergies and menu substitutes (the chef even took time to write out an amended menu to show what could and couldn't be done for a diner with an allergy) We had the festive lunch menu which they kindly allowed us to have even thoigh with illnesses our party was less than the required 8 covers and it was amazing. Very high quality, beautifully presented and the value was exceptional. I had the whipped goats cheese waldolf salad starter, caramelised onion and beetroot tart for main and the cheese plate for pud (not needed but I squeezed it in) Highly recommended. I'll definitely come back.

Loverly pub, didn't have any food, went for Xmas Market outside in marquee, nice beer.

Sunday roast was really nice, beer was good. But there's some shady Tory faithfull types hanging about. Best keep an eye on them, they might crash your economy!

Worst Sunday lunch I have had meat no taste the whole meal was cold not just mine but 5 out of the 6 meals we had need a lesson in food preparation the only reason did not say anything was it was a birthday treat how this place get one of best pubs is a laugh also the wait between courses was over 45mins yes it was busy but still not a excuse.

Food portions are very small for the prices! Few cheakpeas in small bowl, with fried leaf on to0 for £17? Fish and chips with few chips and crushed peas! No gravy with or anything. Disappointing to say the least!

The food is great and well presented, the staff are always exceptional, it’s obvious that this pub is very well run. We look forward to coming back.

We had the most brilliant Sunday meal with family at The Railway last week. There was a big group of us - 14 all together and I have to say, the service and food was impeccable. We were seated and served drinks immediately. The food came out piping hot and delicious with no big waits between courses. Everyone in the group said how much they had enjoyed both the meal and the service - no mean feat when it comes to such a large group. We were honestly so impressed and can't wait to come back again. This is a gem of a pub with wonderful staff. Thank you to the team for looking after us so well.
