Great place for some English breakfast, lovely food, polite staff and you can take your dog there too - only outside seating if you come with your pup, however it is under a roof, so even if it rains it is still pleasant to have a meal, also I don't think they do dog menu anymore as when we asked we were only offered sausages for the dogs! Inside did look nice and comfortable and it wasn't busy for a weekend! Had coffee and cake too, and both were nice! Not a bad place for food in terms of money and also can get some gardening stuff while at it :)

We loved to go here to have some nosh and coffee. Mainly wanted the sausage rolls because they used to be so tasty and spicy. Been last Sunday and ordered 2 sausage rolls and 2 cappuccino. The sausage rolls came cold and defo not fresh and must be a different (cheaper?) supplier. They was absolut tasteless even when send back to have warmed. They must just popped for a few seconds in the microwave and wasn’t much warmer. We also ordered some chips which came only after reminding the waitress. The potatoes they was made from did not taste even they looked nice and chunky. But the cappuccino (which tasted very good) but hang on £3.65 for one regular cup? We understand that the energy cost gone up but don’t rip your customers of by selling cheap stuff for higher prices. We will not be customers in your Cafe anymore if this does not change.

Been here last year a few times and it was always good. Unfortunately, today, it was poor at best. Jacket potato and beans were tepid, portion small for the price and no salad. Tea room lacks atmosphere now everything is socially distant, great shame, won't be going back again

After visiting the Garden Centre I attended for some coffee and breakfast , only to be wowed at the extortionate prices.... Notwithstanding this fact I ordered the English breakfast and for the price I expected flavour...I got cheap fatty sausages, bacon that thin it looks like it has been sliced using a razor blade and the smallest portion of baked beans I have ever seen, not to mention the almost raw and hardly cooked egg . Its presentation was abysmal , For this 'Culinary Masterpiece ' I had to wait an unacceptably long time ( about 30 minutes ) needless to say I won't be going back again and certainly wouldn't recommend it.

The tea-room is a separate modern building between the car-park and the large poly-tunnels of the Hollybeck Nursery itself. One is welcomed at the door and directed to a table - we turned up early afternoon on a Sunday and the room was bustling but there was just space. Having made your choice, you place your order at the counter and pay upfront. The menu is long, including many choices for breakfasts, savouries, salads, sandwiches, ciabattas, jacket potatoes, meals for younger children and attractive cakes. We decided to make this our main meal of the day and opted for the special afternoon tea for two (£26), beginning with a bowl of soup, and going on to include two types of sandwich, two types of wrap, cakes, and huge scones with jam & thick cream, together with tea or coffee. As our meal arrived with its tiered plate, people on neighbouring tables were very impressed and we realised there was more than we could possibly eat. However the staff were not at all surprised and provided us with cartons for those things we couldn't manage. The last bonus was a discount ticket for the nursery, which however could not be used that day. Altogether impressive and excellent value.

It was our first visit to this small, but nice garden centre, We went into the very cramped ( Busy ) cafe for a drink and a slice of toast.Went to the counter to order only to be told there was a 20 to 25 minute wait for food ( I only wanted a couple of slices of toast ), I was told in no uncertain terms that food was prepared '' In a very small kitchen '' and in strict rotation, now I can fully understand this method when we are talking ' Breakfasts '... But a couple of slices of toast ! Unbelievable. I then asked to speak to the manager, but strangely on the busiest day of the week ( Sunday ) she was not at work, but a sour faced young girl was sent over to the table to explain ( again )that it was ' A very small kitchen ' and they had no room for a toaster... and anyway the toaster they had had '' Blown up '' and no replacement had been purchased... Hmm. The place seems popular, the coffee was ' OK ' but its not cheap... and the service is, quite frankly appalling.

I came in today with my Mum and 7 month old baby. They had the £12 for two meals offer on so I was expecting some bog standard food. I went for the lattice with sweet potato fries and ratatouille. It was exceptional. A huge portion and so tasty. However, the thing that made this place stand out for me was the staff. I am breastfeeding my baby, and as standard the second my food came our my baby decided she was also hungry. A waitress clocked this (brown hair, glasses - I didn't get your name sorry) and asked if I would like her to keep my food warm and if I would like a glass of water. Then when they returned my meal they had cooked me fresh chips. In the whole 7 months of going out for lunch nowhere else has offered either of these things. So thank you so much. It is so appreciated and I will definitely be back.

Coffee and tea we’re welcome as we had to wait for lunch but not as long as implied by staff. My partner had Mussels in cream with bacon and I had an all day breakfast. His mussels were fine although a little chewy with a thin sauce. My all day breakfast was poor . I asked if it was Re cooked sausage etc and told no all cooked from fresh but the assistant was very hesitant with his reply. I KNOW they were partially at least cooked as they couldn’t have got the colour on them in the time and they were lukewarm inside. The mushrooms were hard and the eggs looked poached in shape but were fried but solid yolks. Not to my preference at all. The tomatoes were bitter and all in all I will not return for lunch.

Not her fault, The fault was in the kitchen and the owner who couldn't be bothered to spend five minutes discussing the problem! Waiting staff very good and very helpful, especially Team Leader who should not have to take responsibility for the cooking which is the owners responsibility, but he obviously couldn't care less about customers. We used to visit every couple of weeks but now it has gone from quite expensive good food to quite expensive average food. Even cleaning the tables is not good enough. Our table hadn't been finished off properly, a low level look would see what was missed, including the next table to us. The lady across the room had to have hers cleaned again too! I had broccoli soup which I had to send back because it was lukewarm. The replacement ( in the same bowl?) hadn't been stirred so the very hot (microwaved?) soup hadn't been mixed with the cooler soup at the top.

We fancied a morning out to cheer us up on a cold wet winter’s day and decided to go out for a hot drink and a nice piece of cake. We usually visit one of our local Garden Centre cafe’s but as it is the run up to Christmas most are very busy so we decided to try somewhere a bit more off the beaten track that we had not tried before. We looked on Google and found Hollybeck Garden Centre that had the Topiary Tea Rooms, it’s out in the countryside but not too far away so off we went. The Hollybeck Garden Centre is not a large place but has the usual gifts you find in a Garden Centre. We went into the Topiary Tea Rooms which was only half full (about a dozen customers) and were welcomed immediately by a friendly smiling waitress who asked us what we would like, there is a wide selection of dishes on the menu (this can be viewed on the Hollybeck Garden Centre website) but as we only wanted drinks & cake we chose two (large) slices of homemade cake along with a pot of tea and a cappuccino. There is a good selection of homemade cakes and scones that are well displayed at the counter. Having taken our order she asked us to select a table and she would bring our order over. Our order arrived within minutes of us taking our seats and I must say the large portions of cake was both tasty and moist, piping hot tea is serves in a tea pot along with fresh milk, and the cappuccino was hot and just as I like it with not too much froth. One small personal issue as a person who takes sugar (2 or 3 spoons), I would have liked a selection of sugar lumps rather than the small sachets that were on the table.Whilst we were there we noticed a few orders being taken to customers who had ordered hot food and I must say the portions looked very large and appetizing. There was a jovial atmosphere about the place when we were there with the Christmas lights above the counter and the staff having a laugh with the customers. This is a place we will have to visit again, maybe for lunch next time and I would not hesitate in recommending it.

When mentioning this to the staff the girl was very apologetic gave some iced tap water and offered us a complimentary cake. However 5 minutes later she came back to me to advise that the manager has said there are no guidelines as to how hot the food should be and no cake was on offer. Have to say am disappointed as to the response by the manager as there seemed to be no concern for me only concern that they had a disclaimer to quote at me. Just off the B6386 between Oxton and Southwell. Ample car park as a garden centre too. Lovely friendly staff. Light modern building. Unfortunately they are trying to maximise capacity at the expense of comfort and privacy. The tables are very close together. I would estimate about 30cm apart so when sliding between them to get to your seat avoid dipping your behind into your neighbours soup!! You also get people’s jackets hitting you round your head when they walk past or take them on and off. It is not a relaxing environment. It’s also impossible to have a nice quiet conversation. The cream tea was nice. Nice scone (a little dry) with small pot of jam and cream. The coffee was luke warm. I also had a sausage cob. The roll was lovely. I was however expecting proper ‘locally produced butchers sausages’ as you would expect from a place like this, however this wasn’t the case.

The pie of the day was chicken and mushroom which was good and full of filling the only disappointment was the potatoes had been cooked quite a long time I think. we also had a jacket potato with mixed med veg, and an omelette (ham n cheese). as always the tea room was very busy, service very good and all staff very friendly. Hollybeck is a great garden centre to visit and the tea room is a must do whilst your there. once we had packed the car with plants we returned for coffee and scones before driving home, even took some home. we are regulars so will certainly be back.

The cafe is very light, spacious and airy. My husband and I just had a coffee which was good but there was a huge choice in cakes and gluten free. We will definitely return as we enjoyed the whole experience of the garden centre and we want to try lunch/cake.

The day my daughter and grabdchildrem returned to Brisbane we took an hour or so out for lunch. The tearoom was quite busy with only a couple of tables left after we sat down. The staff ere friendly, tidy and very helpful. There was a happy buzz about the place, but not too noisy. The children's choices were good, and the adult choices wonderful, we had baked potatoes, one with prawn the other with Brie, bacon and cranberry sauce. My daughter and I had half and half as we could not make in our minds. The potatoes were medium sizes-perfect for lunch, and it came with a good sized mixed salad. We finished off with New Forrest ice cream. All in all a very good lunch.Twe down points - one was that the cheese on toast solders looked for lawn on the plate, there were no accompaniments, however there was a lot of cheese. The other was my tea came before my meal, I would prefer them together.

My wife and I visit regularly as this is the best Garden Centre tea rooms in the area by far (we visit others as well nearby) All the staff are excellent as is the food. They have the best scones, great coffee and super sandwiches. Beware as at weekends you may have to wait for a table, which tells its own story! but it's well worth the wait and you can walk around the centre whilst waiting, so I highly recommend going here.

I arrived at the garden centre nice and early today and decided to 'treat' myself to breakfast in the Topiary Tea Room cafe; though I was supposed to be on a serious plant finding mission. At £7.99 the full English is expensive and doesn't come with a drink, so I added a cup of tea (pot), so my bill end up almost touching £10.00! Yes, I was alone and yes I was expecting something special. The breakfast arrived, handed to me by a rather grumpy looking man who must work in the kitchen; to be honest he looked like his day was already on a low ebb, which is the reason why I didn't complain. The breakfast: a spoonful of cold thinly sliced 'beige' mushrooms that taste like they're out of the freezer and cooked in water, a barely passable as 'grilled' tasteless as not seasoned fat tomato (very cool), two substantial sausages which had they been hot and their skins been cooked to a golden brown rather than being served with a still transparent skin - may have been quite enjoyable, the fried egg (no choice given) was over cooked and therefore like a pale boiled egg inside, there was quite a lot of bacon which didn't taste bad, but it was in scrappy bits rather than rashers which gave the impression that it was cheap off cuts. For £7.99 the standard should be far better - I can think of half a dozen places that do it better for far less and include a pot of tea.

This is one of my favourite garden centres in the local area, the addition of the tea shop now makes this a perfect place to spend an afternoon. The Topiary tea shop has a nice atmosphere, the staff are friendly and helpful. The menu offers a good range of lite bite meals, cakes and drinks and a lovely selection of delicious cakes, the portions are very generous. As a special treat as it is quite expensive, is the full afternoon tea which comes with a selection of sandwiches, crisps, cakes, scones with cream and jam and is lovely to share. definitely worth making a visit whether just passing or out for a country drive the garden centre and tea shop are both excellent.

My wife and I dropped in to this tea room for a lunchtime snack before visiting the adjoining nursery. This was a special day out trip for us and we both were looking forward to it.The restaurant was packed when we arrived, but we got a table immediately and choose our meals from a comprhensive menu and wall chart. My wife went for mushroom and cheese quiche with salad and coleslaw, which was one of the daily specials. I picked a small chicken and bacon salad with dressing and granary bread rolls. To drink we had americano coffees and tap water. The drinks arrived promptly and after nearly having some soup and rolls our meals arrived. Hot and well presented we throughly enjoyed our choices. My wife loved the quiche, but after tasting the bacon she kept looking at my plate. The chicken and bacon were delicious and the dressing was also a delightful and tasty surprise. The granary roll was fresh and soft and just the perfect accompaniment. In the end we were so satisfied that we decided against and puddings. This is a lovely restaurant that serves fresh home cooked food. The menu is comprehensive and the daily specials ar worth a look at. The prices are a little high, but the value for money is there and the portions are very generous. The s rvice is good and done with a smile and the tables are kept clean and clear. And there is a very good nursery to look around before or after your meal. The plants are very good and the prices here are good too. The staff are very willing to stop and help and give valuable advice. All in all, Hollybeck Nursery and the Topiary Tea Room are well worth a visit.

We have been using this garden centre since the day it opened, and when they expanded and opened a tearoom we were so pleased. From the day it opened It has been consistent in the good food they serve. But we went for lunch today and had a fish finger sandwich and boy was it good. Fresh bread with lovely fish goujons ample tartar sauce, but also a lovely side salad and crisps. We were told it would be ten minutes for the food, and it was. The staff were friendly and efficient even though the place was full to bursting point.

Given a voucher for special treat for a significant birthday. Very crowded tearoom, and obviously short staffed. Ratty response when we queried that no choice allowed for sandwiches or cakes; "chef's choice" only unless you wanted gluten free etc. Pot of tea served immediately we sat down, then we waited 20 mins to the pyramid of goodies to arrive. Too much salad garnish and crisps hiding sandwiches with some we would would never choose...cranberry & camembert ugh! Delicious scones were not warm, and 2 cupcakes were high in height and butter cream, but dry. We never worked out what the 2 triangles of chocolate slabs were supposed to be. No forks provided, or spoons to deal with cream/jam and one tiny thin paper napkin each. No further top ups for tea which had been drunk during our long wait. We ran out of time and received a box to take away what we had not eaten...which was quite a lot! Doubt we will return, although the place was very popular. Perhaps once the staff are up to speed, the chef can be kinder with customers choices - never been to an eating establishment where the chef decides what I will eat. So if you are buying Mum a Mother's Day voucher for special tea...be warned...like this Mum, she might be disappointed.
