Afternoon tea was great, something different and plenty of it

Really accommodating, lovely kind service. Lovely environment, and the food was really lovely. Has kids menu, and options for gluten free and plant based diet.

Been here twice now and have got a table both times, as they don't reserve tables. It's a very busy little place. The food is amazing and the staff are polite, friendly and always busy. Have recommended this place to a few friends. Love the decor too and the tables outside where they provide cushions, blankets and umbrellas.

The Atmosphere was perfect. And the Scorn was Heavenly 😍

Great coffee Today I had two meals at Fables: breakfast and lunch. Both were very tasty 👌 (15/8/22)

Had a visit today was told no seats inside full already at 10am raining outside on and off got a table by 10/15 served 10/20 but told food wait was up to an hour this iam sorry but is unassailable this is too long drinks arrived without milk and sugar another wait then the wait began for food and wait and wait and wait eventually arrived by which time tea had gone reordered and wait and wait and wait again by which time food had nearly been eaten can I suggest putting on a board outside food time waits more staff that don’t stand around talking and more parasols for tables which could of been used by people who were waiting in the rain edwinstowe has had an influx of a newer generation of people from the new estate which enjoy this lifestyle but please be aware local people enjoy it aswell !

First time here for afternoon tea, most definitely not going to be the last time, staff, service, food,location,all brilliant, thank you.

First time going here today, we had afternoon tea which was delicious, presented beautifully, the service was welcoming, friendly and fast. The place is lovely and clean, light and airy. Definitely recommend.

An absolutely lovely meal with excellent service from friendly staff. The vegan option was delicious as was the vegetarian one.

Lovely Brunch, had to wait, but ti ne fair it was packed,,probably because the food was so nice, and the staff were very nice and tentative. Definitely recommend trying. Outside area to eat also.

We arrived at 10:45 AM and were informed there were no available tables for hot food, we decided to wait for a table and had scones and coffees in the grey area seats. At 11:15 AM, we were finally moved to a table, a lady helped us carry our coffees over. We noticed the lady passing by frequently, clearing up other tables. Despite making it clear we were there for a special occasion and had arrived on time, we had to chase down the same lady to take our order. She then informed us it was too late to order breakfast. It was clear she was aware of our situation the entire time, yet displayed zero common sense or courtesy in taking our order earlier instead of clearing out tables around us. We received no apology and were told the chef wouldn't make an exception. The whole experience was incredibly disappointing, ruining what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration.

Fables for coffee and cake was a great experience. Coffee was good and spoilt for choice by the array of cakes. Top this off by the service given by Lorraine and this is a venue to return again and again. Fables were made like this!! Thank you!!

Visited with my son for breakfast. Staff lovely, but very hard seating and the wobbliest table in the world ! I ordered a flat white and the nutella pancakes. My coffee was nice, along with the pancakes. My pet hate was they were on a cold plate, which made them cold really quickly. Also the wobbly table meant that most of our drinks ended in the saucers as we ate. Felt the tables were a bit close together, so felt like we had to whisper to each other as we were drowned out by other customers conversations.

Waited for an hour for food to arrive, no apologies Foul smell coming from toilet into cafe, again no apologies from staff

We came for our breakfast before we went for our spa day at center parcs . My lovely friends 40th .our friends said they will definitely be going back soon . And the food was amazing

Brunch and iced flat white. Served by Kia who was wonderful and friendly when I mixed my coffee order up. Food was amazing. Highly recommend

My wife ordered the fish and triple cooked wedges. The fish inside the batter was literally grey, meaning it was far from fresh and also greasy, meaning the oil wasn't hot enough when the fish went in. The triple cooked chips, which were limp, were most definitely not triple cooked. I ordered the rare steak on flatbread with mozzarella and balsamic. The flatbread was overdone to the point that I had to snap it into pieces with my fingers. The rare steak had not been rested and was still leaking blood onto the flatbread. The meal was served on a flat board with a piece of paper on it which became soggy and intermingled with the food I was attempting to eat. It was genuinely the most disappointing meal I've ever had. Thankfully there was I nice little bakery opposite Fables where we were able to buy a couple of savory pastries to stave off our hunger before our drive back to Manchester.

Service a little slow but all in all a nice place

We chose Fables as our wedding reception venue- and we weren't disappointed. The fables team worked so hard for us- everything was perfect- so many comments on the fantastic buffet, they decorated with the bits and bobs we supplied, the atmosphere was fantastic. Would highly recommend Fables for special events- or just a coffee in the week. Michelle and the team are spectacular. Mr and Mrs Benson x

Attended a wedding reception here, and was very impressed by the standard of buffet provided. It was next level. Everything was fantastic. Will be back to try more.

Called in on a Saturday morning. Greeted by a very friendly waitress who showed us to a table. My daughter and myself both had a Sourdough bacon & mushroom sandwich with tomato relish which was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back and would recommend. The staff were very helpful.

Definitely NOT dog friendly - pouring with rain and told to sit outside with dogs - waitress was extremely unhelpful

Told on arrival 45 min wait for food, fair enough we were in no rush. Hubby & son had Blt which was ok, ordered side of wedges which some were burnt, I had ceaser salad which was lovely apart from the croutons which were stale and the portion size was very small for the price. After we finished no one bothered to come up and clear our plates and ask if we wanted desert so my hubby got up and asked to order cookie dough & ice cream. We waited about 20 mins for it to arrive and still our plates hadn’t been cleared away, then she said “oh I’ll just get you a spoon” but guess what no spoon arrived! My hubby used his fork instead! When they eventually came to clear the table I told them about the croutons etc and the girl said nothing, she just looked at me, so when my hubby went to pay he mentioned it again, they did apologise but we were very disappointed with the service and food and will not be returning. We felt as though they were very attentive when we first arrived but after that they just left us to it. A great shame as it’s such a lovely place.

Called in on a busy Saturday whilst the sun was shining, you arrive at the door to a sign saying please wait to be seated whether you sit in or out, this is an indication to how busy they get and on this day it was rammed. We had to wait for a table, only took 5 mins or so, we were also told that there was a 45 - 50 min wait on food, we were ok with that. Lovely place inside and out ,our order was taken pretty quick, our food took around 20 mins which was great, we opted for the Chicken Caesar Salad and it was delicious and well presented, We both had a Caramel type cake with Fresh Cream again it was delicious, Nice Cappuccino too. Not a local place for us but we we will definitely visit again when possible.

My Halloumi and poached egg salad was full of flavour and a decent size but sadly the poached eggs let this dish down. I expected the eggs to ooze over the salad when I cut into them but instead they were poached hard so it was like having hard boiled eggs. Shame as thw salad was otherwise delicious. Perhaps something to work on!

Food was great except for my poached egg which was more like a Hard boiled egg, not runny at all. Would definitely comeback.

Amazing! I ordered a Vegan Biscoff cake for my friends birthday, and it came out better than expected. The lady baking it went above and beyond to satisfy my wishes! Gonna visit it again, Highly recommend ❤️🤗

A real treat! We came as a family, including a six year old, for a nice breakfast out and really enjoyed our meals (including several great gluten free options). The staff were lovely as well!

Found this lovely place while out walking and have come back for another visit. Situated in the old library and looks amazing. There is also a lovely outside terrace where dogs are welcome

Very good place to eat, we were a mixed party of adults and one child. Two adults are vegan, one is veggie and all we're easily accommodated. Good choice of beers too.

Disappointed asked for breakfast but was 5 minutes late but other orders still coming out still waiting for a toastie watching everyone eating their breakfast ????? finished our drinks ?! Still waiting

Service slow waited over 15 mins for coffee 40 minutes later had to ask if breakfast was coming then when served mushrooms beans cold hash brown well done Pancakes served with tinned strawberries !! No fresh fruit pancakes not great either Unfortunately was not impressed yes it was good Friday but we arrived early. Sorry fables but for the money unimpressive

Food was fantastic, lovely atmosphere only slight problem would have ordered another drink once the food come out but waitress didn’t come round soon enough but that could be more to do with how quickly we eat.

and the quality of food, drink and service was exceptional on both occasions. 7 flat whites, 1 mocha, 4 fresh orange, 2 lots of Nutella Berry pancakes, 4 sourdough breakfast sandwiches, 1 Mars brownie, 1 coconut and strawberry cake and 1 carrot caramel and walnut cake slice were devoured over these visits and every bite was delicious! The environment was comfortable and very clean. The staff were all very attentive and polite. The outside area was lovely for warmer weather. 100%recommended

The food quality is impeccable and cannot be beat locally. The new teriyaki chicken artisan sandwich on the menu I could eat for every meal, forever. Yeah it's really that good. The service has come along way in the last year, Fables is now overall the best place to grab breakfast or lunch within a 50 mile radius.

As Australian's, we know our coffee. And this coffee house served us one of the nicest coffees we've drunk, since we arrived in England 2 months ago....oh, and do try a piece of their triple chocolate stuffed cookie pie, OMG, delicious 😋 😍

I had a pancake special, as it's pancake day, and what a dish. 10/10 fully stacked with bacon, sausage and egg and even I couldn't finish my last pancake due to it been so filling. Top marks 👌🏻

First visit after Fables after closed briefly for renovations. The changes are beautiful lovely boothed area now for extra seating lots of changes to displays and suttle changes to crockery and lighting including a great mirror display and a plant ladder on the ceiling. Very lovely ambience. The place was very busy which we expected for a saturday or any day we have have visited before and you can see why. We were seated and served quickly. The new menu looked fantastic and had some interested new dishes added. I'm normally a sucker for their eggs Benedict with smoked salmon but today I tried one of their new dishes which I have to say was one of the tastiest and colourful looking plates I've had I've added pictures below, my dad also tried a new breakfast item of creamy mushrooms which he said was perfect. The kids loved their menu with colouring to keep them entertained. Food arrived promptly and the staff very friendly. Couldn't leave without a piece of my favourite millionaire shortbread. Overall it's my favourite place to eat and so pleased that are back open with a new look which was worth the wait.

A really fabulous place with excellent food and great staff. The Festive Afternoon Tea was amazing, especially as I am coeliac and can’t have gluten and also don’t eat meat. My meal was a good as my friends and the choices exceptional. Wonderful. Thank you.

Popped in for a spot of brunch. The team here were all very welcoming as we arrived and the food, wow! Pancakes are 10/10 and I would recommend the Iced Flat White 👍🏽 will be back

Never disappointed with food every plate that comes out the kitchen is well presented and looks amazing! Cakes are all homemade it’s difficult to choose between them.Their signature cinnamon buns freshly baked every day are devine… thank god I don’t live nearer I’d be the size of a house haha On the odd occasion you can wait a bit longer for your coffee but that’s the only negative! It’s all worth the wait! Jayne and Chris

One of the best cafes around for brunch in Nottinghamshire. The food is always great and the service also. High recommend for breakfast/brunch or lunch. It’s becoming our regular place for brunch. Also great children’s menu. 10/10

Beautiful environment all staff were friendly and accommodating with our pushchair. Food was beautiful, not a large menu but definitely quality over quantity. The pancakes were delicious and the sourdough sandwich was so filling. Thanks we can’t wait to come again.

Such a lovely welcoming place. Such a diverse menu with lots to choose from . Today I had the home made leek and potato soup with a cheese scone, and it was delicious.

Honestly don’t know why people rave about this place, it’s on my doorstep so I end up going often in groups etc, but every single time there’s a problem with my order, in fact there’s been one time that I can remember not having to send food back or complain in five years or so. The staff are nice but having worked in restaurants and ran cafes and bars, you get to know the drill, but to have the “chef” come out and look at you after complaining is another level of poor customer service.

V. Busy Bustling Bistro Cafe & Beautiful Decor. Found Menu a bit limited & Disappointed no All Day Breakfast! Breakfast Offering Finished at 11am. Had a Burger; Wedges & Coleslaw Awesome, but weird overload of Mushrooms & Parsley taste to it..not really v. Nice. Generous Portions, Reasonable & v. Personable service but Staff not v. Knowledgeable (although helpful) on Dishes on Offer. Was OK, but not rushing to return.

Fables is what I call a 'proper' cafe, friendly staff, a lovely environment (apart from the tables with benches instead of chairs - we moved when a table with chairs came free and instantly felt more comfortable and relaxed), with a broad menu providing some more interesting choices alongside the regulars like a full English. I had winter root veg with halloumi and eggs. A lot of the roasted veg was burnt and should never have been put in the bowl. I left most of the burnt offerings and gave feedback to the waiter, who said he'd 'tell them'. Given the veg were the base of my dish I might have expected a bit more of a reaction, an apology maybe? Times are tough, customer service is more important than ever. It really matters to train your staff properly to handle feedback, constructive feedback delivered appropriately I might add, from people that have been in the catering/hospitality business and really want you to succeed. Btw the bacon in the other dish was a bit over cooked too and the oat milk flat white, so-so. Please go to Fables it's fab, this feedback is mostly for the cafe in response to their under response but also to encourage people to give constructive feedback where it's appropriate, don't go all automatom and say yes when you're asked if everything is ok and it's not. It doesn't help the establishment to improve and survive in this market. All the best

Came to fables for breakfast for the first time. Was waiting a while but don't let it put you off as its worth the wait! Nice to see a place do so well! Food was amazing, best cooked breakfast and ice coffee had by both of us! 10/10 can't wait to come back
