Carlo's is fantastic! Really accommodating for vegans. Fantastic food. Fantastic people. Fantastic night! The waitress was superb!

This is an absolute gem of a pub. They have a wide and constantly changing range of beers. All beautifully kept and served by a friendly and extremely knowledgeable landlord and staff. Certain worth a detour to visit. There is a wide range of whiskeys behind the bar as well. And they host music events in a function room.

Don't order it - can you imagine a brioche bun with unrendered bacon with some cheese on top of scrambled egg and wait for it - on top of sweet chutney. I can safely say sweet chutney with scrambled eggs and fatty bacon will stay will me all my life - for all the wrong reasons. Seriously - its a gimmick to get a bit more money - but it was revolting

We only live about 20 minutes and driven passed many times. We stopped on the way back from Buxton. They weren’t officially open however they were more than happy to serve us. It was awful weather outside but they had the log burner going so was gorgeous and warm. Cafe was all clean. Food delicious. Cakes scrumptious. The staff are so friendly. Car park is close and large. Definitely will be going again.

In a world full of Costa and Starbucks etc etc etc ..it was such a treat to find such a gem....the owner is doing her best and the scones cakes and coffee are so 'homemade" it's ALWAYS a treat to escape to here! I'll keep supporting independent traders, the soul of Wirksworth xx

Haven't been to the Black's Head for a couple of years. Went early this evening, lovely welcome, dog friendly. Will definitely go again.

First visit to The Dining Room for breakfast on a busy Sat Market morning in Wirksworth. Still a few tables available at 9.45 excellent service, I could see why rabies were reserved. The full English breakfasts one near one vegetarian were absolutely delicious ... Lovely and hot, just like my lovely hot chocolate, couldn't't fault the whole team... We will be back next Sat. A real gem, right opposite the market. Thank you.

Truly unique experience, food was fantastic and fresh. This is a one woman show, where the food comes ahead of everything. We had salad to start, a brilliant pizza each and home made ice cream to finish. Everything so tasty and good value for money. It reminds me of some of the best street food from Asian but pizza in the UK. When booking leave a message and the owner will get back to you.

Having first visited in May we decided to have lunch again as a family when I was in the area in October. We visited on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn’t overly busy so nice and quiet to chat. Two of us picked the lasagne with a side of onion rings to share and the other meal was again the Hunter’s chicken. There was a bit of a wait for the meals to arrive but nobody minds waiting for freshly cooked food. Second time around and we were not disappointed as the high standards we enjoyed on our first visit were on display again. Piping hot, well presented and tasty lunches were thoroughly enjoyed but all three of us and the onion rings were excellent too. Clean plates all round and washed down with a nice pint and a lemon and lime. Walk off your lunch at Carsington which is just down the road! Really enjoyed our lunch so well done to all involved.

Booked in advance as a special birthday lunch, having previously thoroughly enjoyed an Anniversary lunch at the sister restaurant in Sherwood. Do not expect the choices offered on the prix fixe menu on line - asked about when booking and confirmed as available, as opposed to a Christmas menu - to be restricted to 3 options for main course - chicken, fish cakes or a veggie burger! Placed at a small, draughty table by the door. We opted for a pate starter and the chicken. The pate was adequate, but the chicken dish consisted of a few pieces of tasteless dry chicken in a very bland, watery broth with sliced, over-salted potatoes. Compared to Le Mistral, Sherwood, this place is a very poor relation.
