Saint Betti in Derbyshire Dales

Don't order it - can you imagine a brioche bun with unrendered bacon with some cheese on top of scrambled egg and wait for it - on top of sweet chutney. I can safely say sweet chutney with scrambled eggs and fatty bacon will stay will me all my life - for all the wrong reasons. Seriously - its a gimmick to get a bit more money - but it was revolting

We had pleasant late breakfast pancakes, and sat happily reading the papers over coffee in comfortable cafe in the market square

popped in to saint betti yesterday just for a flat white. Coffee was some of the best i’ve had in a long time, saying it was a youngish girl who only looked about 15 making the coffee. Hats off to you !!

Last went to this restuarant before current owner took over, used to be a good bet for Lunch in Wirksworth and went once or twice every year for a decade. Will not be going back to Saint Betti. Really limited simple lunch menu, basically light snacks of a minimal size. Perhaps 20 grains of sweetcorn count as a salad here but not in my universe. Two items my wife asked for on menu were unavailable. She also was given a mean sized cup of tea. Slow service. makes you think who is writing these really positive reviews that punctuate the poor ones Local pub across car park for us next time. Byeeeeeee..........

Promote breakfast on Google but when arriving they only had a small selection of sandwiches. Food took a long time to be served considering it’s only sandwiches. The toast arrived and was mouldy so unsure on how fresh the ingredients are. Would avoid if you are looking for food, perhaps just grab a coffee instead.

Today at Saint Betti, while a sudden summer show cascaded down outside, I sank into a soft sofa and enjoyed the best cup of coffee in Derbyshire.

We visited for the first time, since new ownership, hoping for a tasty lunch. Unfortunately we were disappointed. We had a choice of tables, due to few customers. I noticed several people look at the menu outside and clearly decided to go elsewhere. The menu is very limited, some bread based choices and a few pastry items mainly. There are scones and cakes, if that’s to your taste. We ordered avocado and cream cheese on toast, with a bit of salad and tortillas (cost £5.50), with coffee. The service was efficient. However the food was dull, couldn’t taste the chilli flakes, and didn’t persuade of value for money. The coffee was average. I think that this place, which occupies a beautiful building, needs to increase and improve its offer before customers are likely to make a second visit.

If you want reasonable service, a reasonable quality of food, go to the local CO-op as you will get batter quality food. Uninspired and service tardy, food drab, bland, and the wraps were 90% bread and 10% contents. We live locally and won’t be visiting again, such a shame as we really need local cafes of a good quality especially as we have friends and family visiting and will now take them to Websters instead

Surly staff. Only cakes and coffee on offer, which was not clear until after we'd sat down. The menu we couldn't order from was still on the table, which was just rude. Small cakes, one of which was not very nice. And quite a big bill. Never again.

Second visit for us. Very different from the first. We ordered scrambled eggs on toast. The toast was just warm sliced white bread, and the eggs a luke-warm solid lump- a waste of money. The waitress seemed distracted so maybe there were problems behind the scenes. A shame as we were looking forward to it.

Had a great snack here sat at outside table in the sun. Good coffee and tea cake. Friendly and helpful staff

Went for breakfast. The ‘toast’ was just warm white bread no choice offered just a cheap medium sliced loaf, the sausages appeared to have been deep fried, the smoked salmon was almost tasteless and the coffee was weak. It felt like everything was on the cheap and lazily prepared with little or no thought for either customer expectations or satisfaction.

I’m a little surprised reading some of the recent negative reviews.. we called in for tea and cakes and the atmosphere was great, service was spot on and the drink and food were good. The staff were friendly and welcoming… recommended… 👍

I love a full english to start the day, especially when I know I am going to be active all day. At £9 I was expecting something pretty special. Sadly, my expectations were not met. Bacon was burnt, crunchy and obviously cooked the day before, beans were luke warm and portions were minimal. After eating it I was left needing - a full english breakfast. Will never waste my money in this place ever again, shame the Sizzling Pig cafe across the road wasn't open in time to feed us properly.

I had a sauage and egg wrap and it was very disappointing. The whole thing consisted of two sausages cut in half and one egg. The sausage and the wrap itself were not very good quality and probably as cheap as possible. The egg was just an over cooked peice of rubber that only covered half of the wrap. The wrap was rolled up rather than wrapped which meant that when I picked up the half that was just sausage the sausage just fell out. My daughter's hot chocolate was more cream than hot chocolate (being 11 she was very happy with this though). All in all I would say that if they ever had any passion for the food they serve they have more than definitely lost it. Which is a shame because with the wacky decor it could be something really special.

Too greasy full English breakfasts x 4, and a little over priced. One of the plates bacon was too hard/overdone. One of our two coffees was too cold and watery. Sure we will be back in again as we love the location and the service...

Stopped in Wirksworth market and spotted tables outside this cafe. Had an enjoyable half hour sitting in the sun people-watching . Coffee snack and service all fine. A nice little find for future reference when inside opens again
