We visited due to an Engine Crank up occurring. A pleasant welcome with a good choice of fare.

Popped in for a light bite after a walk over on Black Rock. Large carpark, good portions, tasty food, friendly staff, dog friendly.

Nice little pub, went for teas after hockey. 👍🏻

Great Guinness - probably the best I’ve tasted in the UK. Neck oil is good too. I’ll look forward to returning to sample to food.

Unknown. We came at 5pm but they don't serve food after 2:30pm. Still friendly pub and recommended some in area.

Fantastic Sunday meal. Roast sharing platter and lots of vegetables all of which delicious. We have 3 giant breed dogs and it can be difficult finding somewhere to go. We were welcomed and and had a table saved for us which allowed us lots of room. We and the dogs could not have been welcomed more warmly and treated to such friendly service. Will definitely be going back and will be recommending it to anybody visiting the area. Thank you all so much for looking after us all so well. Jan and Lizzie, Lily, Bessie and Pru.😊😊

Our party of 10 had Sunday dinner which was delicious. The service was friendly and quick and the food was all great quality and good value for money. We all left very impressed! A great place would certainly recommend!

Had a walk up to one of our local pubs (Malt shovel) for a Sunday roast with friends and there kids and both of us had the roast share platter , plenty of snap for me my partner and 2 kids ! Highly recommended

Kerry is a wonderful host and the locals made us feel very welcome in this traditional local pub. Great place to pop for a pint of the black stuff and it's very dog friendly to boot. Didn't have any food so cannot rate but I'm sure it'll be great.

Cannot fault it got 20 of us in 1 hour before food closed and it was faultless, all hot really fast service and brill staff

We've come camping for the weekend with 23 of we rang they got us all straight in lovely staff and food was absolutely beautiful and very quick service x

Very good service , food and atmosphere we called up 10 minutes before we go there asking for a table for 20 got us straight in , waiter seemed very determined to do her job the best she could , food was absolutely amazing .

Great pub with a fabulous Sunday lunch. All hot and great separate portion of cheese cauliflower and brocoli. Good welcome, lovely enclosed outdoor space with a few games for children. Car park with a boules area.

Just been for another great Sunday roast dinner at the malt , very tasty and well cooked , meat is lovely and tender always , loads of veg , very large Yorkshire pud, and roasties!!! Also very well priced compliments to the chef kerri, also her mum Cheryl ,always a warm friendly local welcome . Brilliant !!!

Animal lovers beware, this pub supports the disgusting South Notts fox hunters who spend their weekends terrorising innocent animals

Awful, new land lady is running it like a circus very disappointed went for food to be told the chef had got the sack very unprofessional

Supports fox hunting and illegal "trail" hunting. AVOID ATBALL COST, you are at risk of assault from the terrier men and thugs that attend these meetings if you disagree with their activities. The south notts hunt have no problems allowing and instructing the thugs to attack you and your property if you get in thereway.

Kerri is a fantastic land lord and her dog Pearl stole my heart. Great pub and great lager. Food is unreal. Sunday dinner was amazing

Popped in for light lunch and a beer. Quiet place. Had Camembert and meatball dish for two of us. Large enough and super tasty. Washed down with a Pedigree. £21 ish so fair value too. Welcomed the dogs and out a water dish out for them. Good service so overall 4 and a half stars really. Overall, lovely.

Don't waste your time walking 6 miles to this pub, that's what I did. On Google it claims to be open, and on two other web sites also, whatpub.co.uk and foodanddrinksguides.co.uk. They do all say different times, but when I got there it should have been open, but I was smacked in the face with a opening times board saying only open on Sunday. OK if that's what you want to do please take the time to change the times you have published on the web, so that you don't waste peoples time. It's completely inconsiderate of you to have not done this. So if that's what you think of your customers, one star is what I think of you, because I'm not allowed to give no stars.

Endlessly friendly and accommodating staff, lovely and great value pints, a classic British pub atmosphere, stunning views. Cannot recommend more.
