Very expensive however the 8-course dinner menu was incredible - so unique and great for a celebration!

Nice little cocktail bar. No food, just beers and cocktails. A bit rough and ready. Cocktails are 2 for £9 before 6 pm or 2 for £12 after.

Absolute shocker! Walked into a completely empty bar, staff member sitting at a table on the laptop, asked if they were serving food(6:50pm) and was told that I had to order now as the kitchen was closing. No problem, I'd checked the menu before I went, so I ordered the steak. Asked to swap the chips and mushroom tomato for a side salad. This should have been when I walked away because this was treated like I'd asked the girl if I could just eat her pet rabbit, never in my life has this been a request that required so much effort. Anyway, food comes out about 9 minutes later and I'm served with a plate of salad, some questionable onion rings, and about 6 slices of roast beef. I have been served steak sliced before, but this was most definitely left over roast beef and to top that off it was stone cold and by no means medium rare as I had requested. Fair play, she did come do a check back within a couple of minutes which is very rare these days, so I said "steak" was cold and she said sorry about that, I'll get the chef to fix it. Comes back about 5 minutes later and I don't even think the chef looked at it. "steak" still cold, onion rings now also cold. She comes back a couple of minutes later asking if everything was OK now so I say no, it's actually worse. Well, at point she starts telling me that it's because it's the salad that's making it cold and that the chef has probed these slices and they are fine and that it should be cold because I'd asked for medium rare! Incredulous, I just said fine, clearly not going to get anywhere. I worked in bars and restaurants for the best part of 10 years, managed a good few of these and if anyone I worked with ever treated a customer like that they would have been fired on the spot. I was then completely ignored for the rest of my visit like I had done something wrong even though I paid full price for my meal. Food - 0 Service - 10 Atmosphere - colder than my ex's heart

This is a beautiful and atmospheric traditional pub. There is a varied menu and the food is fantastic and great value.Steph and the young barman looked after us so well and Michael, the landlord couldn't gave been more helpful and obliging. We will definitely be back again... recommend it 100%. Jim

Great food great customer service

We enjoyed a coffee and scone at a window table. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The sultana scone was freshly baked and generous in size. Pleased we chose this excellent venue.

Very cold chips today , husband returned them only to be given another portion of even colder ones .He left them on the counter

Fairly average, nothing inspiring for fish and chips but totally let down by not getting the salt and vinegar I asked for. I couldn't really get to the flavour without the salt. The food would have been cold by the time I got back to rectify it. I hate leaving a bad review but it was really disappointing. Friendly service though.

Placed order on uber eats - predicted arrival was 30 minutes. Phoned after an hour - they said it would be 20 minutes. 45 minutes later phones again, didnt apologise or give a reason other than "its really busy" but its on the way. 20 minutes later i phoned again - asked to cancel the order and they accepted straight away - clearly never even started the order. Shambles and horrible cusotmer service on phone

Really friendly staff, food very tasty and very hot. Fantastic location if you sit in the wood cabin outside (and not cold due to the log burner), price reasonable. Very good experience, would come back.

Always quick delivery, delicious food and sometimes some good offers! this is my go to pizza/kebab shop in Matlock!

This has been our go to takeaway for the last 5 years and we have never had a bad one. Never greasy, always tasty and quick to pick up.
