The best restaurants in East Midlands

I've had brunch here a few times and always enjoyed it. Today there were four of us: food & service were excellent. Highly recommend. Booking advised.

We went for the Christmas dinner. The food is fabulous and the service is quite good. The venue is perfect for group dining.

Haven’t eaten in but had a great takeaway - the vegetarian set menu for two. Super delicious apart from disappointing mass-produced samosas. Not at all greasy. Everything was beautifully cooked and tasted fresh.

Was worried about coming here after a bad meal at their sister pub, the Dovecote, but we need not have worried.. I had a very bad Turkey meal the day before and some of our family had ordered that but what a difference. It was moist and my salmon was beautiful. A much better experience

It was very expensive for a very tiny portion.

We came here to celebrate my dad’s birthday and had a truly delightful evening. It was such a thoughtful gesture for the staff to give him a birthday card—it made the occasion feel even more special. The food was excellent. I had a steak that was of outstanding quality and cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided efficient service throughout the evening, which added to the overall experience. The decor is tastefully done with a traditional feel, creating a refined and elegant atmosphere. This is definitely a place for a sophisticated dining experience, rather than a lively or trendy vibe. Another bonus is the large, free car park, which made arriving and leaving so convenient. For a special occasion, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Very over priced for the size and quality of the meals. Had the sweet chilli pan fried chicken and chips at £14. Relatively small amount. Chicken just tasted like it was covered in chilli jam. Chips were mainly the broken ends and it was clearly pre chopped lettuce. Very little effort put in. Would have expected £9.50 sort of price tag. The other diners on my table wernt wowed either. Also seemed to take along time to come while the place wernt that busy. Shame really as it used to be really nice there, with good quality and value.

Very poor service My food was just ok but strange tasting sausage and soggy toast The other two of us had to wait until 15 minutes after I’d finished before theirs turned up Another guy in there was so bored of waiting he demanded a refund which was given Plenty of choice these days so I’d suggest you don’t bother

Great choice on menu. Excellent meal and a surprising but very good sweet. Service was good with excellent staff. Well worth a visit.

This is a great place to meet for a pub lunch. The food is freshly prepared and really good and the beer (Marston's Pedigree) is always in top condition. We will be back!

Best pub in Mansfield!!!!! Especially for real ales and craft beers. Always a nice, warm welcome upon entering and also is very dog friendly. Has a good selection of everything, to spirits, wines and ciders. Doesn't do food but has a wide range of bar snacks. Nuts, crisps, scratchings etc. Live music most weekends and a Sunday Social every sunday from 7pm. A quiz every Wednesday from 8.30pm. They have the 'Cow Shed' upstairs which is available to hire out for birthday's, baby showers, small wedding receptions etc.. All in all, a fantastic pub, with a friendly and unique setting to cater everyone. Get yourself down for a pint 🍺🐮

I really liked The Fat Seagull, it was friendly and the tea was very nice. The staff were friendly and it was a really pleasant trip.

One of the best meals we have had for some time, beautiful food and beautifully present with superb flavour and taste, could not be faulted. Very friendly and attentive staff. Lovely evening all round.
