Me and my friend came here for dinner and it was absolutely wonderful! Alex who served us was so welcoming and informative. He made our experience an absolute delight. The food was incredible. We are so glad we travelled to eat here. We will be back!

Couldn’t fault it apart from the very busy car park but that’s understandable as it’s so nice. Excellent service. Lovely breads included. Very good menu. Everything delicious. Reasonable value for the high quality. Well worth a visit and will definitely go again.

Came based on recommendation and LOVED IT. The staff, particularly Sara were so so accommodating especially with our newborn, it was our first night out with her and Sara held her while we enjoyed our pudding hot which is a novelty for us having any food warm! The food was amazing, we had 3 courses and my partner wants to come back to have the Scallops again! Lovely venue, lovely food lovely staff!

We weren’t planning to eat here but we couldn’t get in to our preferred pub so continued to drive and saw this place. Quick check on the TA app which had great reviews and in we went. What a lovely place it is - elegant dining room and nice patio and some pods out there too. We were only looking for one course and chose the fish & chips and the sea trout dish. Both were beautifully cooked, nicely presented and sooo tasty! Staff were excellent- friendly and helpful. Our first visit but we will be back!

This was as always, a super experience, not too expensive but has great food and excellent staff. Varied menu and wines made for a great evening out with friends.

Our party of 6 attended on saturday 2nd December and we had a wonderful evening. The staff were extremely pleasant, the service was excellent and the food was exceptional I brought 4 visitors from out of Derby with me and they spoke in wonderful terms about the incredible evening we had enjoyed. As usual the food was tremendous and the service very friendly but slow. It was obviously busy and not sure if they were short staffed but it was a long wait to take our order and between courses. Having booked as a special Birthday treat for my mother in law it was a shame they didn't have the level of the attention to detail they usually do in regard to her dietary requirements and weren't able to provide gluten free substitutes for dessert. Still a lovely meal, but not quite the experience we've come to expect.

Beetroot and feta was lovely starter. We.wll opted for pan fried hallibut ..the fish was lovely nlhowever very disappointin that we asked for the mash potato on the salmon to be swopped for chips on two and extra veg with sauce on the side for the others.we were informed that these would be charged as extras ..They forgot to serve the sauce on the side so I could not eat my extra veg.! The bill was £240.00. I think a bit short sided and petty to charge for the swop and a shame that even though we mentioned the sauce was over the vegetables.no one had the time to apologise...

Once again The Horseshoes provided an rxcellent level of friendly service, atmosphere and food. The tasting menue was great value, varied and well balanced. The Wine Flight was exceptional value and complemented the different dishs with unering accuracy. The entertainmen provided by the singer was very good without being intrusive, super voice over a good range of songs. Altogether a great time was had by all, with an early return promised.

We had a fabulous Christmas day at the Horseshoes. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was brilliant. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

My husband and I ordered the beef from the Festive Menu. Most of our large group ordered turkey. Their turkey filled the plate and came with roast potatoes, carrots and brussel sprouts. We were remarkably disappointed when our beef dish did not have the brussel sprouts etc. The beef was tasty (it’s only braised beef so an inexpensive cut!) but a little piped mashed potato, a minuscule amount of red cabbage a a couple of tiny onions and a few mushrooms did not compensate and we were very dissatisfied with our festive menu choice.

We always enjoy our trips to The Horseshoes. The atmosphere is welcoming, the food excellent and efficiently served. In our experience it is hard to find better value for money. All this keeps us going back.

Once again our art group had an excellent Christmas lunch here. As always the food was great and the staff were good.

I visited with my brother and sister-in-law for a pre Christmas catch up. The Horseshoes used to be my local 45 years ago, and I try to call in when I'm back in Derbyshire from my home in West Wales. Good meal and service, as always, although the basil sorbet on one of the starters was a little challenging. See you again before too long.

Having very much enjoyed a previous visit in one of the garden rooms, we booked again for a family dinner, eating inside this time. The food was excellent, with everyone enjoying each of their 3 courses. Unfortunately, though, the service was chaotic! The individual servers were all very pleasant, but the management of the team was well below standard. We ordered a round of drinks after waiting for around 20 minutes, but only half were delivered to the table, with the rest being left on the bar a short distance away whilst the server went off somewhere mid-service. We had to request the rest of the drinks several times, even though we could see them sitting on the bar! Later, when we asked for the wine we had ordered on arrival, we were told we would get it with the main course. We again had to request that it was brought to us to enjoy with the starters. A server started to clear our table of empty starter plates but then disappeared part way through. The mains then started to arrive but there was no where to put them as there were still uncleared starter pates on the table. We tried to help by stacking up starter and side plates at the end of the table but no-one removed them and so dirty plates were next to us whilst eating our mains. There were very long waits for drinks and between courses. A couple next to us left because they were waiting so long. After several requests for the bill, it was wrong. The substantial deposit had not been taken off and a bottle of wine had been missed off, which we alerted them to. There did not seem to be a shortage of staff, just poor management. All in all, we would go again for the great food, but would hope that the front of house manager has improved the standards of the service.

Delicious food, excellent service and a lovely ambiance - I can't fault it! We ate from a mi ture of the Fixed Price and A la carte menus, both of which were good value.

We went with a group of friends on Saturday evening. Cute little place lovely atmosphere the food really lovely couldn’t fault it. A little on the pricey side but a lovely treat. Only one thing the service whilst everyone very pleasant needs to step up a little sat at our table for a good half an hour before our was taken and also not overly attentive found we had to attract staff’s attention to order extra drinks etc Overall a very lovely evening out ….thank you

We came here as a table of 7 on a busy Saturday night. From start to finish the service, food and ambiance was fantastic. The servers had fantastic knowledge of the menu and wine list. We have already rebooked to come in December for a birthday. 100% will recommend.

This is not a place to visit if you have any sort of food allergy. Despite declaring my allergy on booking, they were unable to offer me any choice on their menu. Okay, it was a more limited Sunday menu but to only offer one starter, despite the fact that there were several dishes on there that I routinely eat in other establishments ( to be honest, I think they were just trying to shift the I’ll conceived slow selling one as it sounded like a very odd combination of ingredients). I was offered two mains, but they were both essentially fish and boiled potatoes. I’m quite sure that their food is lovely if you can eat it and I wouldn’t have minded if they’d said I’d have very limited choice when I booked, I’m used to limited choice but really to have no choice is just poor.

A gem of a restaurant. We will definitely be going back, lovely food and brilliant service, it felt like a special treat.
