Lakeside Bistro in North West Leicestershire

This is a lovely little find. Inside it looks like a beautiful tearoom overlooking a small very picturesque lake with waterfowl and irises. The staff were all super friendly and seem like a wonderful happy team. The food was very tasty and there was a huge selection, all cooked fresh with generous portion sizes. The cakes were incredible - if I lived closer I’d go everyday for a month to sample every cake.

Excellent breakfast, I had a ham and tomato omelette, the ham was thick and chunky, none of this processed meat. Service was very good, as always. Beautiful setting, next to the fishing lake, we sat outside with our coffee after we had eaten. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Good amenities. I do recommend booking a table, especially during the summer months.

We've been may times and always enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. However, I don't enjoy being told that I must sit in a cool breeze from an open door to facilitate food deliveries outside. We were not he only table to be unhappy with the demand for a constantly open door either. Nice people and otherwise good but don't disadvantage customers for your own needs. Find another way. Food delivery was also particularly slow on Friday 16-May at 12:30. If it takes 50mins from ordering to receipt then you are getting something wrong. We still like the place but please don't spoil it.

Lovely location. Service not great, we only ordered crumpets with our coffee, they forgot the crumpets and then when they eventually arrived it was just one standard size crumpet! For £3!! Such poor value and the coffee was average….

Absolutely love this little gem.

Very busy when we arrived and had to wait for an outside table to be available. Only dog friendly outside and can't book these tables. Food, beer and service all good.

Fabulous venue for my husband's 65th party. Owner and staff went above and beyond, food, service etc. Highly recommend. Beautiful setting.

Wow, what a fantastic meal All home cooked, loads of fresh cooked vegetables with mash and roast potatoes. I had the steak and mushroom pudding. All piping hot. Cost very reasonable, well would say it was a steal such good value. With a long list of starters, mains, and ho my god homemade sweets, you can't go wrong with the food, service, and staff. As all of you know I like good food and this Bistro well pleased us all, it's well worth a visit. But I would think you have to book as it was quite full. Plus, there are lots of seating outside space and a fishing pond with ducks that we are. Dog friendly in the outside areas Thanks for a great meal, and keep up the great standards M&J and the crew

A friendly eatery catering for groups of seniors inside and outside by the waters of a small pond-like lake. The food made up for the expectation of a larger waterside experience. Plenty of parking and some disabled spaces directly at the waters edge adjacent to the bistro. The menu is varied and caters for vegetarians. We didnt call ahead to ensure if group bookings have reserved indoors. Outside should be fine. We took the last table inside at a busy time but did not have to wait long for food.

The staff were excellent , the food was fantastic, not a thing left on any of the 6 plates .would definitely recommend a visit.

Fantastic small restaurant with a fantastic view when seated in the comfortable chairs outside and a beautiful walk around the lake. Do not miss this place if you are in the area.

Had breakfast here on a Sunday morning at a outside table covered with an awning. Lovely food, v.busy (glad we booked) with families and dogs (including my two). A little chilly (but it's March so what do you expect right?). Lovely views over the lake. My two dogs also had a breakfast sausage treat each. It's popular for good reason. Recommended.

We had a Valentine's Day meal. Food was absolutely first class. ANY top class kitchen would be proud to produce such a delightful menu( ...we had the Hake). Staff were friendly and relaxed. Easy atmostphere. Great evening out.....

amazing service was greeted with a smile the hot chocolate was gorgeous and i liked my chicken and mushroom garlic sauce when i asked for gravy they got me some oh tho they didn’t get me enough but that was all sorted when i asked for more (highly recommend booking in advance)

I was part of a group of 20 and we went for our Pre Christmas lunch. The staff couldn’t have worked harder, and had everything organised to a tee. Our meals arrived together…no mean feat with that number, and it was hot and plenty there. It was well cooked and tasty, in fact, it was one of the nicest Christmas meals out I have ever had. So nice, we’ve booked for 2025. The only blip, was the portable toilets as the toilet block is being rebuilt. The builders were hard at work, so I don’t expect the portable toilets will be there much longer. I didn’t mind, but some people may be put off by this. All in all, it was a great experience and I highly recommend this cafe/restaurant, but you are well advised to book first as it is highly popular.

We had a family Xmas dinner here last night. 26 people from 86 to 16 years old. It went down well with everyone. Excellent food, excellent atmosphere, really helpful accommodating staff. It's the fourth year we've done this, and we'll be back. Thanks to all at Lakeside for giving us a great evening.

This is a hidden gem. It’s near my work and I love an excuse to host colleagues or meet friends. The staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful. The food is good the choice is good. I love it.

What a lovely place. We had a lovely breakfast, I would highly recommend this place.

I was baffled by the amount of choice on the menu. From sandwiches to wraps and jacket potatoes, without forgetting proper mains restaurant style. Went for a Peppered Beef in a ciabatta with fries. Gorgeous ! Big thumbs up for decent sauces sachets (you can open them and not with your teeth, and they are generous). Will come again soon.

I had my surprise 60th here.what a surprise it was.just the right setting the people sitting outside enjoying being able to be comfortable. Inside balloons and banner .a dj that was friendly and people could enjoy dancing.later on in the night plenty of seats to comfotable again .the food was lovely and the staff.cattered for gluten free aswell.such a lovely memory of being at the right place with all guests loving the place. Thank you all so much at the bistro.and breakfasts are amazing here aswell.have yet to try afternoon tea.xx

Didn't use the bistro, went to fish the pond, lots of happy people enjoying food, from the aroma coming over the pond the food smelt amazing, lovely pond to view whilst dining, well maintained outside areas, highly recommend..

Called in without booking and were seated immediately. Good and service brilliant. I had a small meal from the menu which turned out to be more than enough. My wife had a chicken ciabatta and could not eat it all. Great!!

We were in the area house hunting and wanted brunch after a viewing. Searched on Google and found this delightful place. All had a full breakfast tweaked at our request without fuss. Food and beverage were served piping hot. All the staff were a delight. We sat outside overlooking a peaceful lake with wildlife and anglers. We recommend you try.

What a glorious setting. Dogs not allowed inside main restaurant but plenty of space on decking where you can have a meal and dogs and able to be with you. Advisable to book to eat inside as very busy when we visited. Staff very friendly and an extensive menu.

Even though we had not prebooked, the staff made a plan and served us a delicious full afternoon tea. As we had brought our big dog along they agreed that we could sit outside with the tea, which they normally only serve indoor.

A hidden gem. Beautiful surroundings, incredibly still and quiet. Lovely polite staff served up probably the best breakfast we’ve had out, and very reasonable. Nice big parking bays a very short walk away from the bistro itself, so there are no vehicle movements. Toilets available. Honestly an amazing little spot.

Vegan Afternoon Tea was amazing@ Such attention to detail and tasted absolutely delicious. Best one I've had and highly recommended. Staff are extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to help.

Lovely setting by a beautiful fishing lake. Plenty of seating inside and outside on the shaded terrace or sunny deck. The food was on the privy side for a sandwich, but was tasty and beautifully presented with fresh green salad and a few ridged crisps.

Other than an unfortunate 50 minute delay with the food - which wasn't a problem because we happily chatted with friends for the duration, our experience was really good. Food was impeccable, service (eventually) was delightful, the environment beautiful. A special thank you from my wife for the gluten-free considerations. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Thank you.

I and my family went for lunch and had a fantastic meal ,served by very attentive and friendly staff.

Friendly team who all seem to get on well and share a regular giggle or two. Great atmosphere.

Food food, good value, nice place to be. Just take care to ensure their arithmetic is up to scratch as I had to correct their £10 overcharging error!

I visited Lakeside Bistro as a family party of 10 adults and 2 children today for Mother’s Day lunch. The food and service was excellent. The setting is lovely, overlooking a lake. I highly recommend anyone to visit here. You may need to book as it’s very popular due to the excellent food and service.

Visited today! Lovely little bistro, beautiful setting right by the lake (as the name suggests)! Friendly quick service and gorgeous food! Only had goats cheese ciabatta, chips, salad & rice pudding but came away absolutely stuffed! Food was amazing! Definitely will be going back- soon!

Had the full English breakfast there today. Staff delightful. Price ok. The venue was clean, warm and very welcoming. Unfortunately the food let the staff down whilst the breakfast looked good it was served almost cold, the toast was two pieces of dry hard bread not toasted at all. Sorry Lakeside not good enough.
