Super food at reasonable price. Will use again.

Place itself was well presented and clean, with a cosy atmosphere. The waiting on staff were very pleasant, however the food was disappointing, bland and not what you would call a generous portion. Reasonably priced if the portions had been a bit bigger, the lasagne and chips could have easily been mistaken for a child's portion!

Brilliant service, food and beer. Lots of choice on the menu and specials board. We will certainly be back again soon. Thanks to everyone, especially the chef for the fantastic food.

Came here after Calke Abbey was closed and we were so happy we did! The staff were so welcoming and gave us a lovely comfy table for 9. Food was delicious, generous portions and very reasonably priced. It arrived in good time too. Dog and children friendly. Will definitely return when next in the area. Thanks again!

Good Sunday lunch, good portions, comfy surroundings and nothing but excellent service!

Have visited many times and the food and service has always been excellent. Our small Rotary club now meet there on a regular basis and we couldn’t feel more welcome. I always highly recommend it to anyone who shows an interest, or who wants to know of any good places to eat.

Had my fathers wake here today. Pete and Donna and their staff catered for 60 friends and family with hot meat rolls and roast potatoes. Biscuits and cake and tea and coffee on tap. Everything was simply perfect and this was echoed by friends and family attending. Thank you for rounding the day off in the way my father would have wanted. Highly recommend this lovely village pub.

Fantastic place to stay. Comfortable, homely and cosy. Breakfast also fantastic very delicious. Very friendly owners who can't do enough for you. Definitely recommend and take that from a family of 4 wo have stayed 4 times now and will stay more 👌👌👌

Cosy pub for a family get together, £35 for 2 courses for 2 people. Recommend this place for good food and good choice of drinks. Loved my spinach ricotta cannelloni and sticky toffee pudding with opted custard. Hubby was very pleased with his Sunday carvery with 2 meats and opted extra pigs in blankets. He recommended his Oreo sundae and would have it all over again. Rest of family enjoyed their meals, 3 of them are frequent patrons. Self contained annexe rooms at end of small car park enjoyed by 2 of our family members.

It was a great night out with good food and real ale. Very friendly atmosphere with a great host and nice surroundings. We stopped over in their lovely annexe accommodation and had a full English breakfast the following morning. Excellent would highly recommend.

Stayed over at the B&B nice evening meal in the pub. A comfortable night's sleep and a superb breakfast before we left. Friendly staff would definitely return.

Last visit was 7 months ago which the starter prawns was awful so we thought we’d try today and give the place another go. The food was lovely and the evening was going well till the point of leaving the restaurant. How embarrassing to be chased by the waitress in the pub car park to be accused off not paying enough on your bill. Lucky we had the receipt which clearly outlined what we had and what we paid was correct and actually their error. Humiliation is the word that comes to mind and that will be the last time we eat their again. Sorry doesn’t quite cut it to be honest, what must the other people thought was going on 😡. Appalling treatment, need to find adequate staff to do the job properly before chasing after a customer with allegations.

Popped into this lovely pub after visiting Calke Abbey. Didn’t know the area but saw the signs for the pub and very glad we found it. From the moment we went in the staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable with any questions I asked. The pub is nicely decorated with a tv and pool table too. We didn’t go outside but from what I saw from the window it looked clean and nice. The waitress who took our order was pleasant and helpful and the food arrived promptly. (We were first in at 5pm) The food was perfect and very tasty, proper home cooked not microwaved. I had the veggie sausage and mash with lashings of gravy, my daughter the cheese and tomato pizza. I then had the sponge pudding for dessert. Which was amazing. The service was 10/10 my daughter even knocked over some of her drink and they refilled it for me which I appreciated. The toilets were also nice which sometimes in pubs it can go unnoticed. Overall a great place to eat, child friendly, clean, great food and to service. I’d recommend it.

Went for lunch yesterday and I never choose a carvery, but this looked so good I did. It was the best carvery I think I have had, all three meats were delicious, the veg was perfectly cooked and the service and value were excellent.

Lovely welcoming pub, charming warm character to the pub. Great selection of beers and substantial range of food to choose from at a very reasonable price and to top it, a chef who knows how to cook.

Went today for the carvery O.M.G. Fantastic fresh food great staff cannot fault this place .With only living less than a mile away decided to go and give the cross keys a try as many many people talking about this pub surely wasn't disappointed

Although we were approaching closing time the young staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. We would recommend the Criss Keys to anyone who is looking for a warm welcome, good beer and food!

Excellent food could not fault a thing

Always loved this place, but our last meal my mothers starter which she had as a main was awful. The prawns had been over cooked and really chewy. Really disappointed so only gave it two stars. Staff are really friendly though.

Best carvery and food. The ingredients are fresh and everything tastes amazing. Great service and very accommodating. Highly recommend you won't be disappointed.

First visit on recommendation from neighbours. We had lunch, excellent friendly service, varied menu. I had plaice, my husband ham n eggs - he's raved about the amount and quality of ham ever since. We will be certainly be re-visiting and I will have to go for the ham n eggs 😋

Couldn’t recommend this highly enough

My wife and I have visited the Cross Keys, several times since moving locally. The food has always been fabulous, the Guinness a great pint and the staff are very accommodating. Well worth a visit, I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Fabulous! Met up here for a get together and it was lovely. Really good selection of drinks and the food was great. We had starters that came out quickly, I had the mushrooms and stilton which was delicious! The mains came out basically straight after the starters were taken away and they were so big! I had the scampi and chips which was really nice, and perfectly portioned :) The whole menu was good and the place itself has a really cosy atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back 😊 ⭐️

We have just had a fantastic weekend at Crosskeys the chalet was very roomy and clean it had everything we needed. The staff are very welcoming the breakfast has everything you need to set you up for day Donna is the perfect hostess and her husband is agreat chef I would recommend this pub to anyone.

Nice village pub. Food good though sharing platter didn't quite match menu. They allow dogs, so if that's you its a good place; 3 there on my visit. 10 to 12 parking spaces.

Went on a Thursday night very nice pub but the service was appalling and the food was Meh. The waiter was extremely unprofessional and even threw the small glass of mustard across the table. Both floor staff had no personality and the food was ok but far from great

First time in more than 20 years ago since I had been there. Arranged to meet with some friends that I used to shoot with around the same time. First impressions good friendly atmosphere excellent beer reasonably priced good food. What more can I say It certainly won't be another 20 years before my next visit. 👍

Love visiting The Cross Keys on Thursday lunchtime. My friend and I are working our way through the menu of delicious foods, always saving a space for pudding, be rude not to.

Nearly didn't go here as the menu on the website doesn't reflect what is actually on offer. There is a very varied specials board. We had garlic and blue Stilton mushrooms to start. Needed a spoon to scoop up the last drops of sauce. I had duck breast and husband had lamb shank. Both were beautifully presented and cooked. Empty plates. A visit to this pub is highly recommended.

Super staff! Only stayed for 1 but a brilliant atomasphere!

Went for Saturday lunch, four of us and the dog. We were all made welcome by the friendly staff and other patrons. They have a small selection of real ale, the Timothy Taylor was good and seemed well looked after. We ordered a couple of starters to share and they were tasty. For mains two of us ordered fish and chips, one had lamb shank and I had steak and kidney pudding. Glad to say the food was excellent value and delicious. This is the sort of pub that's not easy to come across now, happy to serve those who just want a drink and a chat or those that want to choose something from their extensive and interesting food menu. If it's important to you, they are genuinely dog friendly. We will be coming back to the Cross Keys, it's a gem.

Very easy to negotiate all the covid restrictions and had a lovely time chatting to locals. Took a little longer to get served but otherwise everything was perfect. Thank you .

What a lovely return to a friendly, quality pub. The staff are as calmly welcoming as ever and perfectly attentive - our server was finishing her shift but stopped by at our table to check everything was ok and the landlady even treated our two-year-old to ice cream. The outside seating area is open but covered with a large pagoda and very prettily planted and decorated too.

Had Christmas Dinner picked up 2 meals me and son Christmas lunch i have to say wasn't very good IT WAS FANTASTIC brilliantly cooked to perfection meat selection melted in mouth what more can I say consisted of : Turkey, Pork, Beef, Bacon, pigs in blankets, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, creamed potatoes, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese (favorite veg -perfection), red cabbage, Brussels, carrots, peas, cabbage, roast veg, 2 soups, 2 beautiful cobs, large portion each Christmas pudding large not individually cooked large cut into four, brandy sauce, 2 mince pies 🥧 😋, crackers, party poppers, Everything was put carefully in bags one each person excellent 👌 I did phone to compliment the chef who will, I hope prepare meal next year- sorry this year
