A recent visit with four friends was a lovely experience. We were greeted warmly and given menus. Drinks arrived quickly. The room was nearly full and there was a good atmosphere. Our waiter explained some dishes with which we weren't familiar and starters arrived quickly. How kind to offer us a short break between courses ! Mains were hot and delicious. Nothing more to say. We couldn't fault the food or the service. Oh! but the stairs to the toilets are a bit steep and long.However, the facilities couldn't be faulted

Amazing meal for table of 16, well organised and food came out hot fresh and all together. Any slight issues with order were swiftly rectified.

Usually the food in this restaurant is fantastic but not tonight. All of the curries looked the same, chicken was tough and chewy for everyone and no one got any vegetables in their dishes even though it was detailed on the menu. Just got sauce and chicken. All other items were good though - rice, Nan, pickles and also the service from the staff. Just disappointed really. Hopefully it was just an off night

My girlfriend and I, went on a date to the tamarind and received odd service compared to other guests without reason. We are both 17 and we have been to many places and never been treated unfairly or dissimilar to other customers until tonight. We had just sat down ordered two small soft drinks, we had no tone and were excited as we heard great things about the place. When they asked us for our order they seemed inpatient and rather rude compared to everyone else. I had asked rather simple questions like how expensive are the popadoms and the answer was “did you look at the menu”. This could have been a mistake of tone but it made us feel pressured and anxious to order. We aren’t the most confident speakers and tend to stutter but everywhere we’ve been have been more than patient and treated us like every other guest. Most of the staff seemed to dismiss us, it wasn’t majorly busy and everyone had been sat and taken care of. The food was well cooked and for the price was not bad at all, but it was rather sickly and we could’ve gotten similar results if we just cooked it at home from at packet. They also don’t take card and say that there’s a “problem” with the machine however it was not something that they thought they should tell us until we showed up at the door. Overall the money we spent was not worth it when we could have gone to much better places for similar prices. We cannot spend much like other people can but we shouldn’t be seen as inferior or less important, we will not go there again and it’s a shame because we were looking forward to it.

We chose the midweek meal deal which includes poppadom & pickles, a starter, a main course plus a choice of either rice or naan bread. All of the food was 5 star, as was the service.

The staff were pleasant enough, apart from the waiter not returning my change until I requested it. But the food was really disappointing, speaking with the people on the table next to us, they had the same level of disappointment too.

Mixed vegetable sagwala is amazing and the chicken Tawa sauce is excellent.

Myself and my partner love this restaurant. We have had takeaway before but prefer to dine in since it is a nice atmosphere and the staff make it such a lovely experience. Everything we have tried has been wonderful and to our taste since the staff do well making recommendations based on what you’re fancying. Staff are always friendly and attentive. Overall our experience eating here always feels like a real treat.

I tried to ring back to give compliments to the chef, I'm the awkward Lamb pathia woman that likes it original/old/empire style. Our food was absolutely beautiful and my husband whose not normally a curry fan is finally convinced why I will only ever order from you. Thanks so much!

I’ve been to Tamarind before and always had an enjoyable evening. However, my last visit was far from satisfactory. The service was slow, the chicken in my dish was hard and I was charged £4.60 for lime and lemonade! My friend had a glass of wine which cost £4.40! I should have complained but was so angry, I think I’d’ve said something I later regretted. However, it’ll be a very long time before I go again. I like to go to restaurants who charge fairly and you don’t have to wait ages for the bill. I no longer feel able to recommend this restaurant.

Great restaurant, amazing food and great service

We've been twice recently with family and friends. Both times had brilliant service, the staff are all so friendly and helpful. No complaints about the food either. Always served hot and delicious. The midweek menu offers a wide choice of food and is still good value despite recent price increases. Very lucky to have such a fab restaurant within walking distance of home.

How can a curry taste of nothing? Ordered a tandoori mix curry vindaloo strength online. You cannot specify vindaloo when adding the curry item to the basket so put wanted vindaloo strength in the notes. It was delivered promptly, however it had to be the blandest curry I've ever had. Massively disappointed as always been good in the past. Won't be ordering again.

Our table was about 30-40 mins late, but the food was amazing so made it worth it.

I asked if they could be sent out and they complained that it would be 45 minutes and do we actually want them. I said I'm happy for a refund but they refused. They said they wanted the naan bread back so we didn't eat it. They then rung again a while later and said they would send me a refund. I never got the refund. Nearly £5 for something we never received. The curry was a bit watery.

I've been going here for years and food is always excellent staff are very friendly and very polite highly recommended!

Had the special offer set menu for £17.95. Opted for chicken jalfrezi, delivered on flavour and spice, found the coconut milk a little over powering though and took the edge off what was a great curry. Tandoori chicken starter spot on as was the naan and rice. Will definitely be back, great value, quality and service. Cash only though...

Excellent restaurant, been many time. Got a takeaway tonight for a birthday meal. It was brilliant. Lamb Rogan Josh and Chicken Pasanda as well as the paswari naans were very good. Would recommend.

Table of 6 booked, all the food was served at the same time, hot and was perfect. Waiter gave advice on options from the menu for someone not wanting their meal as spicy and they even adjusted the spice level for him! All staff were super friendly. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Booked for 7:30 and they bumped us to 8pm. So we turn up at 8pm and they didn't have the table ready. We waited and asked, still nothing. We went to leave and all of a sudden the table is apparently ready but wasn't a table for the number of our party. Waited another 20 minutes and left due to the pathetic, terrible service from the rude staff!

Had a wonderful meal here at tamarind the food and service was first class would recommend to all, feel welcome as soon as you walk in the food exceptional and have booked for next week with more family, the service is really first class

Ordered over the phone to request a chicken breast in the mix grill not a leg, we received our order with a leg and one cheese Nan was missing I rang up to be told it’s the chef’s fault for the mix up, so is the chef going to refund my missing Nan and for the mix grill that my husband was disappoint with?? NO we will not be returning

Pre booked a table for 7.30, still sat waiting at 8.00, with no sign of a table becoming free, but they expected to take our orders then gave us a drink at half price, which we had no intention of paying for if anything it should have been offered FOC, also no mention that it was cash only just a small hand written sign on the door, fed up of waiting so walked out, wouldn’t recommend and will never go back.

Very nice takeaway they all have masks and social distance. Things have moved on and services have returned to normal.. I went to a birthday party there. All members of the party had a well cooked well presented meal. The fish was just right , I would advise booking to avoid disappointment. It was good to see if it was well patronised again . 14/1/2023. Had a rather pleasant meal. Glad to see business has picked up again.. 29/4/2023 Had a nice group meal. Took a guest there and they had a pleasant dining experience . A great place to take guest.

Always a good meal but last night was excellent. Perfect mixed vegetable sagwala, chicken shashlik and my husband tried the Capsilla and again amazing sauce and the kebabs were delicious . Staff are wonderful and always make a real effort to talk to us .

Absolutely terrible experience-I thought I was ordering from Empire … only to find that tamarind had taken them over 😫😭😭!! The tarka dhal was like water , the lamb fatty and tough - had to wait ages for delivery!!! Only when I complained they said they had taken over Empire —— never again will I order from them! Even though they offered 10% discount!!!!!

Fitted us in late on Saturday. It was busy but food was excellent. Second time we'd been here, but it was even better. Food excellent, service friendly, efficient and funny. Great value for money. Only downside is that it is still cash only.

Mention the chef. That was the recommendation of our waiter who himself was outstanding. The food here is excellent. So good in fact that I forgot to take a photo. My leg of lamb was very tender. The use of spices took you from a mild flavoursome sweetness that built during the meal to a slightly more than medium heat which for me was perfect. Absolutely delicious and definitely one to visit. 👌

Visited Tamarind restaurant this evening. Was lovely! Food was delicious, and presentation was on point and was served with a smile from all staff. Will definitely be visiting again and recommending to many.

Super little place. Food was really quite good. Service was above and beyond. Attentive. Nothing was too much trouble or bother for them. Good parking available outside. Easy enough access into the restaurant. The lamb was so tender it melted in your mouth. S selection of dishes and all were excellent. We all agreed that its definitely worth another visit.

My wife's favourite Indian restaurant. My first time. I can see why she loves it so much. Fantastic food, well priced and the best part is the service. Genuinely caring and polite which made for a fantastic evening. We took our children and they couldn't have been nicer with making sure everything was spot on for us ... even when my daughter left her phone!

Eaten here so many times I've lost count, but every time is as good as the last. Slight menu change recently, but all the favourites still there. Great staff, food - and good value too. Highly recommended.

Monday night and it was fairly busy, go every now and then for a treat. If you want a decent curry definitely the place to go. Great food with great staff that can't do enough for you. Thanks all see you again soon 👌

The food here never ever lets you down and the menu's got plenty of choice for everyone. Prices are decent too especially mid week. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is great, but a couple of niggles can let them down slightly at times. You can book a table, no problem, but ours has never been ready. There's still a 20 minute wait and if you book for when they open be aware they don't open on time. Also be aware it's cash only and the nearest cashpoint charges you. Lastly, they can tail off with service, especially if there are regulars in. You'll chase them for the bill (check it, my wife's drink was charged as 7 pints) and it's 50/50 whether you get a hot towel or a chocolate. No biggie, it's up to them, they're just a little inconsistent but we still love going.

Went on a Sunday evening had a fabulous meal and can not fault anything else and we were in a party of eight. Definitely will be dinning here again. Really enjoyed it.

Sunday night, turned up with no booking, and was seated immediately in a quite busy restaurant. The service was exceptional and the food was absolutely beautiful I'm far from a regular customer at this restaurant, but the staff always greet me as an old friend. Though it is probably a year since I last visited, the menu always seems to have something new on it and the staff's recommendations are usually spot on. They seem to remember my personal taste in food

We went New Year’s Eve with the family can’t praise it highly enough staff were kind service was brilliant and the food second to none we were treated like royalty I would like to thank Ali and all his staff for a most enjoyable experience we will be visiting them regularly

Ordered a butter chicken, got a korma. No mention of coconut in the description for the butter chicken but it was full of it. Questioned it with the staff as I genuinely thought I had someone else’s order only to be told that traditional butter chicken has coconut in it and the menu is wrong. They didn’t offer any resolution so it was just wasted as I couldn’t eat it. Won’t go back because of this but the other food was good.

After arriving for 4pm we were sat down for dinner at 430. First drinks arrived promptly. Starter was okay but not as good as in previous years. Indian mains was pretty poor, chops had little to no meat, 3/4 of a plate of rice. English Xmas dinner had no mash or roast potatoes, was just baby potatoes , no pigs in blankets , no Yorkshire’s. Just boiled new potatoes , turkey and veg. Abysmal really. They the. Forgot to serve us dessert or come round to ask us if we wanted anymore drinks.they had then ran out of Indian dessert and apologised for that too. Bill however was for full even though they didn’t serve everything. Absolutely abysmal after years of being good wouldn’t bother with Xmas here anymore.

We went here for Christmas dinner. Absolutely superb food and service. Couldn’t fault any of it. We have been here for Christmas dinner a few times now and would definitely recommend.

Food is okay, but watch your bill when you get it ,specially if you’re in a large group. We we were overcharged by £60 and then they blamed the computer. Someone else I know were also overcharged.

Group of seven people had two dishes incorrect when served , but we accepted rather than send back but bill when delivered after meal had no total cost showing , who offers an itemised bill without the total amount due showing , and when we checked it they had significantly overcharged which did take the gloss off the evening . Lesson here is do check your bill don't just accept and pay

Tamarind is a very popular place to eat, booking recommended, couple of times recently cash only due to credit card transition issues, but the food and service is always great, plenty of menu choices and quality tasty food, plus alcohol.

Food is really good and the service is very professional and also very friendly.

First visit, and not disappointed. Nice welcome and a Good food selection. Nicely set out abd decorated. Only issue for me is it was a bit cramped when eating. Definitely return again.
